I was able to do the new patient paperwork beforehand and the online system was clear and easy to use. The office was clean and upscale in appearance. Dr. Dagron was lovely. Efficient, kind and a great guide when deciding what to get. My old optometrist was always trying to upsell me on services but I felt like Dr. Dagron just wanted to get me what I needed (glasses and contacts) and best leverage my insurance rates. I highly recommend Eyes On You Optometry if you want a professional and empathetic optometrist and an exceptional experience from beginning to end!

We were able to find a nice pair here (costly but that was ok), and got an updated eye test/prescription. Unfortunately, after a couple of days they were causing headaches and eye pain. He decided to continue to wear them since they were knee and maybe needed to get used to it. Still nothing. Called the store, and got seen. The primary doctor there made some adjustments, and took them back. Same thing, they resulted in pain/headaches. The dr felt careless and not very understanding, let alone interested in getting this right. Not returning given the lack of care and professionalism around this. We thought we'd find our new neighborhood eye glass shop too, but that was a fail.

I was nervous the first time because I had no back up glasses and going to a reunion. Ryan was great getting them back in shape, and I had no idea how much the eyeglass handles had moved. They knew right away that there is more than one kind of office progressive lens, and when the wrong lenses were sent, they didn't just hand them over and send me on my way. Instead, they told me immediately and ordered the correct replacements. The quality was clearly much better than the cheap online glasses I had started with, and once I realized the original lenses weren't right for me, I found another pair of the same frames and they swapped in the correct lenses without any hassle. The staff was knowledgeable, quick, friendly, professional, and open late, with great prices and high-quality lenses. Most of the staff were friendly, helpful, and patient, but one staff member was noticeably unfriendly and very strict about requiring people to join the waitlist before being helped. He is a white, red haired with glasses, plaid shirt. Very rude to me. What was particularly frustrating is that the waitlist process relies on a QR code with instructions in English. I often see older customers who may not be comfortable using smartphones, and others whose first language is not English. After many years of coming to this location, this was the first time anyone had told me I needed to sign up on a waitlist. I made a mistake. Sue me. Overall, the quality of care from the doctor was excellent, but the office could improve its organization and make the check-in and waitlist process more accessible and customer-friendly.

I bought a pair of $800 dollar OPT glasses that I can't wear. I went to the store 10-15 times in an attempt to get glasses that I could wear. First the order was lost, I tried to cancel the order but was pressured into keeping the order. Then the wrong lens were put in, and the frame was way to big for my head (frame too heavy for tiny wire arms), etc. The list is long. Countless adjustments and hours spent at the store. None of the glasses really fit my small head and so I settled on a pair of glasses that were medicore in style and comfort. They talked me into adding nose pads so that the glasses would fit my face. Buyer beware, glasses are non refundable. Once the staff add nose pads or make changes to the glasses so that you can actually wear them, they are non refundable. The first staff person I dealt with Allen was horrific. Pushed the most epensive glasses that did not fit me nor were they ever going to fit me. He tried to curl the wires around my ears which was so uncomfortable I couldn't wear the glasses. Talked about the limited ediciton and how the glasses were from France. Oh, and I could resell them. He also pretended to not recognzie me when I came back several times for adjustments and finally a new pair of glasses. One of the staff told me that no one could wear the glasses Allen sold me becasue the frames were too heavy. I have had amazing cutomer service at Target's Optical store. The glasses aren't fancy but the frames are comfortable, returnable and I can buy insurance which protects them when or if they break or become damaged. More expensive doesn't equal better customer service here.

This is easily the best experience that I've ever had with an eye exam/getting glasses and contacts. The shop is conveniently located on Castro Street near 18th. It's upstairs, so it's peaceful once you go inside. Good music playing, but not so loud that you feel like you're in a disco. It's nicely decorated and the glasses are well organized and displayed. The staff is terrific! Everyone greeted me with genuine smiles, but allowed me to look around at my own pace without pushing. The Doctor here, Kathleen Kennedy, is the sweetest woman imaginable. Not only is she friendly and intelligent, she's also very professional and knows what she's doing. Dr. Kennedy gave me a great, thorough eye exam and turned me over to her very pleasant and capable staff. Mike was a genius at helping me choose just the right frames for my face and appearance. The excellent care I receive from Dr. Kennedy and her associates has always impressed me. I have been trusting her with my sight for years and have always been pleased with her and her entire office. If I was straight I'd want to marry her! I spend a lot of time in doctors' offices (both as a person with HIV and as a health care professional myself) and I know when I'm receiving quality care.This office delivers. She is very professional, knowledgeable and thorough. Still, she is always fun to talk to and I look forward to seeing her every year. Her staff reflects her philosophy. YES! Dr. Kennedy is professional, personable and caring. YES! The frames at FYEO are pricey, but they're also quite fashion foward. Here, as I see it, are the shop's shortcomings: Eyeglass lenses, even those with all the expensive options and add-ons, are often poorly executed by FYEO's lab (i.e. rough and irregular edges one would expect from a chain store) and need to be sent back for fine tuning. Fortunately, go-backs are graciously handled and the lenses are returned in better shape. While not the rule, I've been fitted for eyeglasses by inexperienced help. Last but not least...As of late, Dr. Kennedy has a couple of very mean spirited men in her employ who are beyond arrogant, rude and snooty. Their presence makes FYEO a shop you may want to pass on. And that's too bad, as Dr. Kennedy is really quite a good optometrist. read more

I started visiting Dr. Kennedy's office in 1998. I've never had the pleasure of having Dr. Kennedy exam my eyes but I've had Drs. Butler, Chantaduly, and Lukens look at them. All are very experienced and personable. Actually, I have visited three other optometry offices in recent years and they just do not have the same caliber of overall service. And the other optometrists are not as thorough in their examination, which was a little surprising. The staff is always very helpful and professional. Lastly, ever since the remodeling of the office a few years back, this place looks absolutely fantastic. My only qualm is the frame selection but it looks like they are once again carrying styles I like. read more

I had the wonderful opportunity to get into Optometry as a medical field after getting hired here at FYEO. I worked here for almost 1 year and a half before I had to leave for personal reasons. Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Watson are genuinely the best doctors I've worked for and the best doctors I've experienced and seen working with patients. Their number one priority is patients and making sure that they're treated like GOLD. They also treated me like gold as well as all the other staff. I will continue to see Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Watson (I've seen both) until they retire for all my eye needs. I love the selection of eyewear here even though it is on the pricey side, probably not pricey compared to other fashionista establishments however. I do feel like they do quality work and want to help you pick eyewear that suits your face. Yet I also wish I felt assured that they have my best interest in mind, and not their best overhead in mind. They should allow clients more time to select with slightly less pressure and I do wish they would give you your own prescription so that you could take it anywhere you deemed appropriate. I've been seeing Dr. Kathleen Kennedy for many years. This visit was a routine eye exam for glasses and contacts. I'm always learning new things from Dr. Kennedy. I already wear progressive lenses (courtesy of my aging eyes), and during this visit, I was informed about progressive lenses for the COMPUTER. In 2022, I began working from home and noticed a change in my vision likely because I'm on a screen of one sort or another all day. I'm so happy there's a solution that supports my activities! I can't say enough about what a great experience I had here. I met with Dr. Lukens and Dr. Kennedy, both of whom were very attentive, kind and completely concerned about my eyes and doing what was right for me. Michael picked out my glasses for me and they are perfect. Service is fast, professional and completely friendly. I have insurance, but I still expected it to be so much more than what I paid. I had such a great experience buying my new glasses here, I made an appointment for my eye exam on the spot. It was the most thorough eye exam I'd ever had. I've moved around some for school and my career and I've had several different eye doctors, but she's the best. Dr. Kennedy was gracious and obviously loves taking excellent care of people. Fabulous frames and excellent staff. But the thing is, y'see, since I've been "seeing" Dr. Kennedy, I can actually see well! My eyes are BAAAD, but KK got me all set up with contacts, specs, and CLEAR VISION! And the prices are EXCELLENT for a place that caters to medium-to- high-fashion, hip, urban types, like moi. I've been going to For Your Eyes Only for about 4 years now. They are awesome! The office is comfortable, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Dr. Kennedy is the best. Dr. Tonya and Dr. Kennedy are the best. A few years ago Dr. Kennedy told me about floaters, little spots that float in your retinas. I thought there were bugs in my shower because I only saw them when I was looking at something bright white. She sent me to a specialist and I was able to clear up the problem. What a friggin' nightmare thus far! Went in for an exam to specifically get a contact lens prescription renewal. My VSP insurance paid for the exam. Kennedy is trying to force me to pay and extra 47.50 for a trial pair and "follow-up" for lenses I've been using for 10 years! What a scam! read more

The office sits on a…read morelively Mission corner a few blocks from BART, with large windows that let in tons of natural light, and I came in for a full eye exam for contacts and glasses. Dr. Huang is a keen conversationalist, competent, and sharp. She immediately picked up on some eye symptoms (very likely related to me wearing "two-week" contacts for... uhh, longer than two weeks...) and explained everything clearly. The office uses both modern tech and classic tools; I appreciated the retinal imaging, and when one eye didn't cooperate, she pivoted calmly to traditional dilation instead. She answered all my curious questions and had the images emailed after. At one point she pulled out a long briefcase full of optometry lenses and tools from under the desk, and for a split second I thought I was about to witness the assembly of a spy gadget. Nope -- just professional wizardry to fine-tune my prescription. It was awesome to watch, and I knew I was in good hands. Carlos and Diana up front were also great -- helpful, friendly, and zero sales pressure. We couldn't find frames in my size, so they fitted newer thinner lenses into my existing ones, which turned out great. I also appreciate that Eyedare doesn't rely on Luxottica frames. Beyond the exam, I'd forgotten how vibrant the Mission is. Within minutes you can grab Salvadoran pupusas with plantains, Shanghainese bao, Bi-Rite ice cream, relax at Dolores Park... and now also watch robots talking to other robots (Zoox waiting on a Waymo robotaxi). He suggested for me to try just wearing only one of them now in my dominant eye (and he figured out which one that was), so I can see up close to read in one and see far in the other. It works great for me! He explained that not everyone can--some people will get migraines but you have to try to know. And Yvette has an incredible eye for helping pick flattering frames. She's very honest and direct with her opinions. She won't promote a frame just because it's more expensive. She picks the ones that she thinks are most flattering. After the exam, they gave me a box with only a few frames to choose from and some were kids' frames. If I didn't want to choose from those frames, I had to pay out of pocket for the frame and lenses. So if you have HPSM and want your exam, glasses, and frames covered, I would recommend looking somewhere else.

Clearly they only want to see patients that will buy marked up glasses here and aren't prioritizing optometry care. Husband had similar separate experience.

Paid nearly $300 for the frames. They mentioned the lab would order a new frame in the same style since the floor model was defective. Okay, great! 4/17/26: It's been three weeks; I call since I haven't heard back. To my dismay, it seems like they were not monitoring my order since they just found out my frames were still on back order. The lab is out for the weekend already, so they'll give me a call on Monday. 4/21/26: Do not receive a call back on Monday. Call the office on Tuesday for an update. Front desk worker says all the opticians are busy and they give me a call back by end of day. According to the front desk staff, the frames are still on back order. Did not hear back that day. 4/22/26: I received a text from the optician saying the frames I chose are not manufactured anymore and I'd need to come in to choose a new frame. This is where I got very disappointed and frustrated. Not only did I have to be the proactive one throughout this entire journey, but I'm out $300 with no glasses. Shouldn't this be something they found out 1-2 weeks after I put in my order?! Not nearly a month later. 5/8/26: I'll spare you all the remaining details, but I finally picked up my new glasses nearly a month and a half later. I ended up providing my own frames I bought separately instead of ordering through the office. I received my $300 refund two days prior on the 6th. What's my point through all of this? My intentions are not to get the opticians in trouble -- they seem very over worked. I think my point is to call to attention to management that better processes need to be put in place for their customers, especially a faster process to get their customer's money back. I understand there are roadblocks with insurance for refunds, but there has to be a better way. In my 20+ years of wearing glasses, it's never been this difficult and frustrating. I simply hope other customers don't have the long journey of receiving their glasses like I did.

I was very impressed by her behavior, engaging personality and professionalism. This was such a pleasant interaction and I wanted Dr Kurtbay to know what an amazing employee he has. I called my doctor's clinic only to find that the wait to see an ophthalmologist in my medical network (UCSF) take weeks if not months. My only option, I was told, was to go to a walk-in clinic or the emergency room, in either case I would be waiting hours for an on-call ophthalmologist to show up. Then it occurred to me to see my optometrist - Dr. Carrie Lee. She saw me that very same day (a Friday), and I can only imagine she had to really juggle her schedule to squeeze me in. In the event, she was able to identify the problem. It was bad, but not any of the terrible options suggested by Dr. Google. Later I emailed her (on a holiday) with a question about the application of a treatment for an unrelated issue. To my surprise she responded with the answer in about 5 minutes (!). Dr. Lee is a treasure who really cares about her patients.

During what should have been a routine eye exam for my 6-year-old son, Dr. Lee accidentally poked him in the eye while putting eyedrops in his eyes. This wasn't a minor incident - my son ended up in the emergency room with a swollen eye and a bacterial infection that required medical treatment. I should have trusted my instincts when we first arrived - the office had a noticeable stench and didn't appear clean. Given that my son developed a bacterial infection from this incident, I now suspect the unsanitary conditions played a role in what happened to him. Eye exams for young children require extra care and attention, and this level of carelessness is completely unacceptable. When I requested that he be seen to assess the damage, her office told me it would cost $158 for the appointment because it wasn't covered by insurance. What makes this even worse is that while she acknowledged poking him in the eye when it happened (which is how I knew it even happened), she later denied it ever occurred. This lack of accountability and honesty is deeply concerning from a healthcare professional. As a parent, I trusted this professional with my child's vision and safety, and that trust was violated. The pain and distress this caused my son, not to mention the additional medical expenses and trauma of spending all day in the ER, could have been avoided with proper care and technique. I cannot recommend this practice to anyone, especially families with young children. When it comes to your child's eye health, you need someone who will be gentle, careful, and competent. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.
