I suddenly started seeing sudden floaters and called a number of optometrists to be rejected for same-day new patient afternoon intake. The receptionist Lily handled my call, understood my concern, and was able to accomodate a same day for the last time slot of the day! As a new patient she made sure to follow up on the phone with my concerns, insurance, and intake forms to make sure the process is speedy and convenient. Dr. Nguyen seated me almost immediately after checking in, and understood my concerns. The checkup process was routine and as soon as the doctor discovered retinal tearing, she let me know and immediately attempted to call numerous ophthalmologists to see if they can conveniently see me while I was dilated despite it being 5PM in the afternoon. I truly appreciate the efforts from Doctor Nguyen in making sure I get the optimal treatment for my visit. I'm also appreciative of the Doctor and receptionist both for staying late and taking extra care and effort for my appt without me having to ask. The following day the Doctor even left a voicemail to follow up and let me know that they've retroactively inquired with my insurance and found valid vision coverage, offering to refund a 200 dollar visit to a simple $20 copay, again, without asking! I can't ask for better service and treatment from both the office and optometric staff. If they hadn't taken me in that day, I wouldn't have known to seek a next-day ophthalmologist and gotten immediate surgical care, which could've lead to more serious issues if I hadn't! read more

This Optometrist couldn't deliver my glasses order after over a month, or even say when it would be delivered, so they cancelled it. I wasted a lot of time for multiple calls and emails with them and the insurance company to find out the order status, get a refund, and restore my coverage to go elsewhere. The doctor was hard to reach and never apologized. Also she is always looking for new ways to scare you into costly and unnecessary exams and treatments. I suggest going to another Optometrist who focuses on patient care over profit. Update in response to business: Notice there is no apology in the owner response. The owner uses the glasses customization (what should be a basic standard of patient care) as an excuse for their poor choice of a lab that made a mistake and delayed the order. "Their best" to keep me informed was me having to call and email several times to follow up. They did NOT offer a full refund. They offered a partial refund for just the glasses, I had to negotiate for the exam cost which I had to retake with another doctor, and that does not make up for the wasted time and inconvenience. As for treatment recommendations, they start with what will be more profitable to them. This place does not accept accountability for their actions. read more

I have been going to Dr. Nguyen- Wei for 5 years now and she's been wonderful. She is thorough and helps answer any questions I have. I have really dry eyes, so it's helpful to see Dr. Nguyen-Wei yearly and to help with my dry eyes. She is very knowledgeable, patient and professional. She helps with dry eyes issues and do treatments necessary for my eye concerns. I highly recommend her. She is also good with little kids and their eye exams. You can order your glasses and contact lens through the office. They are very helpful and check your insurance coverage to let you know the estimated cost for glasses/contact lens. I've had plenty of eye exams (glasses wearer here) to know the difference between a thorough examination and a mediocre, perfunctory one. This was a premier league eye exam. You can trust Dr.Nguyen. Worst place ever. I've been a customer for over two years, came to see if I can get a pair of glasses while waiting for rescheduling. Not allowed to even sit inside. THE SEATS ARE EMPTY AND NO ONE IS THERE, front desk is the most ridiculous I've ever dealt with. She had me standing outside of the door having just completed a serious knee surgery (and the doctors knows about this), and said she had to ask doctors permission before I can use their chairs. The doctor is busy thus I cannot sit inside. Ridiculous - get a new front desk, and this front desk lady, you should consider getting a new job. Previously when I visited, my husband was able to sit inside waiting for me. The front desk lady back then was friendly, not sure what has changed, but obviously a legit patient who has a valid reason to sit down now will not be allowed to use the empty chairs without doctor permission. SF is a city with great service suppliers and doctors of all kinds, it's better to find a service provider that gives you basic human dignity. UPDATE: Since the owner responded to this, I will respond that almost every other doctor's offices allow patients to sit. Regardless of whether a patient is late, a patient should be able to sit without getting a doctor's permission. And I am here to remind other patients that they have alternatives to choose from, which is exactly what I will be doing. (The staff is not in the middle of something, she is sitting there and the waiting area chairs are empty - just saying.) read more

While I lived in SF, I went annually for my eye check up. Dr. Nguyen was always professional, knowledgeable, and very friendly. Despite only seeing her for an hour annually, she somehow manages to remember a lot of details through our small talk! Very thorough and informative optometrist! Let me know something about my eyes other doctors overlooked related to eye burn from sun in my teens without sunglasses. In the 1970's teens didn't walk around with sunglasses in Southern California's South Bay. None of us recalled wearing them in high school back then. I've been a patient here for several years, and the service and care has been exceptional each visit! I recently had a horrible eye injury that was causing a lot of pain, inflammation, and sensitivity to light. I was struggling to get the issue resolved ASAP (as I was getting married in less than a month!), and Dr. Nguyen was absolutely wonderful! She explained to me in detail what she believed the issue was, provided an eye drop, and had me come back for a couple of weekly follow-ups to ensure everything was healing ok. This place is amazing! From beginning to end, I received nothing but exceptional service. I called on a Saturday to see if they accepted my insurance (VSP) - they did, and even though I showed up 15 mins before they closed, the woman at the desk was extremely helpful. I never felt rushed and everything was explained very thoroughly. I am indecisive and had a million questions and the lady who was helping me gave me every price option (twice), attitude free! YES. She recommended that I get my eyes checked anyway (even though my prescription was still valid) and I'm glad I took her advice! Dr. Linda was great. She made me feel at ease and I was able to get in and out of the office during my lunch break. Turns out my vision had improved in one eye and worsened in the other..lol. Also, Dr. Linda was able to tell me what was growing on my right eye since the people at Kaiser were clueless -_- Selection may seem limited, but the quality is there. They carry great brands and I liked that there wasn't an overwhelming selection...I can't even decide what black sheer top I want to wear - and I own a ton of black sheer tops btw....and they all look the same. Dr. Nguyen-Wei performed a VERY thorough exam, and told me the status of my eyes on several aspects which I never even thought about before. Further she gave me advice on sunglasses, eyedrops, and more. The exam itself was very meticulous and comfortable and resulted in the perfect prescription. The office staff, Kayla and Tina, were SO friendly and helpful in helping me pick out frames, ordering them, etc. The office is extremely clean and decorated very classy and modern (but down to earth). Overall it was an extremely positive experience and I would recommend Clarity Vision to any of my friends. Location: Enter through the actual 845 door (with the SFSU banner), and take the elevators up to the 4th floor. You can also enter through the mall... but I got lost so I don't really recommend it. Dr. Nguyen was fantastic. She was concerned about my eye dryness and irritation and took extra steps to make sure I was feeling better. I've been following her instructions and have seen a great improvement! I didn't get glasses from her yet since my prescription didn't change much, but will definitely be coming back to get my glasses. read more

I've never felt inclined to Yelp about anything besides food & drink, but my experience at Dr. Nguyen's office was so great that it was worth writing a review. First off, the office is by the elevators behind Optika. It looks like a dead end, but walk past the elevators, then turn right and that hallway will take you to their office. My appointment was an hour before they closed and I was never rushed. 5 minutes before they closed Dr. Nguyen even asked if I had any questions. During the exam she educated me about symptoms of eye disease, something no other doctor has ever told me to look out for. She was honest, telling me that I didn't need the more expensive astigmatism contact lenses for one of my eyes because the astigmatism was so light. Jessica, the receptionist was also great. Both on the phone and in person, she was ever so helpful and patient, and was very knowledgeable about how to help each patient best maximize their insurance coverage. I have never met a receptionist so dedicated to helping the patients save money! During my visit I also saw some first-time contact lens wearers frustratingly trying to put in their contacts and both Dr. Nguyen and Jessica patiently sat with them and offered advice. I work nearby and tried out this office for the first time...gotta say I loved it! The glasses area is super cute (reminds me of Maria Carey's bathroom, sans the jacuzzi). Top 3 things: 1.) the doc (Dr. Linda) is AWESOME! I actually had a dry eye problem that I went to 2 other docs about, but they never figured out why my eyes kept burning. Thank god she helped me and now my eyes don't burn at work. Also, I hate sitting with my face really close to the doc's when they check your eyes, but she makes it much less awkward (i.e. she won't creep you out, thank god). #1 thing about this clinic has gotta be Dr. Linda!!! 2.) The office is really convenient once you find it. I work nearby and can just plan on doing my shopping after I get my eyes checked, which is obviously a plus! Much better than going to a hospital and being around sick people when all you need is your eyes checked. 3.) The dilated eyes dilemma is solved! After seeing the eye doc, you can just go downstairs and get a cream puff after you get your eyes dilated and can't drive home. Um, could there be a better solution? Overall, big thumbs up to this new clinic! If you are looking for a new doc or don't like your current doc, they are super helpful (esp if you have insurance questions) AND you can get a CREAM PUFF when you can't drive home! read more

I set up my eye exam appt here because a good friend of mines recommended this place. At first it was hard to find, since it is inside the mall I kinda got lost due to shopping a little bit! So I called the office and the receptionist had no problems in directing me on where to go. It's a cute office with a good selection of eyeglasses and sunglasses. Since I was 10 mins early for my appt I decided to ask about my insurance plan since I really didn't know much about it. Jessica (who works the front desk) answered all my questions (very knowledgable). As for Dr. Linda, she is very sweet and very professional. She was very gentle while doing my exam. On top of that she had a good sense of humor! She was not your typical doctor that always has a serious face on...and to me, I loved that because it wasn't awkward sitting in the chair! I had the same experience as anyone else, everything was great. It is a little tricky to find but with the tip that it is behind the elevators helped me to easily find it. The appointment was over lunch and I had my new prescription after 30minutes. Had to do three test in the front area before I met with Linda. After I went to a small room where she asked a couple of questions and did the standard eye tests. I didn't buy a frame here (because I wanted to go together with my husband) but can definitely recommend Linda if you want to renew your prescription. read more
