The Farrah frames!
Alycia B.

Great, friendly staff that help you find the most stylish frames for you. They helped me pick out glasses 4 years ago which I have gotten more compliments on than I can count. When I wanted to re-order another pair of the same glathey contacted the factory to find the same frames which were no longer being sold in stores. The staff (including Dr. Cope, the optometrist) goes above and beyond for their customers, and the products are high quality and stylish. I highly recommend this SEE location for all your eyewear needs!!!

Audiences and critics alike seem to be enjoying themselves with the production of what I like to call, the "Crazy Threesome" of "See Eyewear" in Harvard Square. Leading roles? Katie, the hilarious manager (who someone below calls a "bitter ol' evil mean 20-going on-90 saleslady")...I told Katie to take it as a compliment, because honestly, what young person can pull out that much of a hilarious review?Anyhow, there is also Fukimo, the sassy salesgirl. And, lets not forget, Uncle Steve, the swanky optician who is like a Santa Clause character, except he gives the the gift of eyesight. After having a pain in the ass time at See Eyewear on Newbury, I refused to go back and finally found my favorite cast of customer service in Harvard Square! Not only are they all hilarious and helpful here, but after expressing my anxiety over purchasing glasses, Katie, the manager was MORE than friendly to help me with exactly what I wanted! She also knows absolutely everyone walks in the front door....which is amazing! It took me five years to find what I wanted, and after a bad experience, I did not want to support this company, until I found Harvard Square! The first time I went in, I spent two hours just listening to the funny trio talk about their lives. It was like being a guest on Seinfeld. Bottom line: My glasses are adorable, this store has fabulous selection, the prices are really good for students and my glasses came in after 6 days! I think I want to go back just to hang out with them...;)

These glasses appear different shades of green and brown, green, or just brown, depending on the lighting. Thank you, Katie.

By the authority of God Almighty, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and of the undefiled Virgin Mary, 'mother and patroness of our Saviour, and of all the celestial virtues, angels, archangels, thrones, dominions, powers, cherubins and seraphins, and of all the holy patriarchs, prophets, and of all the apostles and evangelists, and of the holy innocents, who in the sight of the holy Lamb, are found worthy to sing the new song of the holy martyrs and holy confessors, and of the holy virgins, and of all the saints together, with the holy and elect of God-- Praise Katie. May the Father who created man, and the Son who suffered for us, and the Holy Ghost who was given to us in baptism, and the holy cross which Christ for our salvation triumphing over his enemies ascended-- Praise Katie. May she be praised in helping other customers pick out glasses for two hours, in being blunt about what each pair of glasses makes you look like, in telling random stories while you pick out glasses, in discussing top-notch difficult topics while you struggle in narrowing down your choice of glasses, in sitting, in waiting, in giving a double goodbye-so-long hug, in winking behind glasses. ;)

I received this in the mail about 2 weeks after I picked up my first pair. How's that for customer service? It made my day!

Katie the manager is the absolute best and somehow remembers my name even if I haven't been in for a year!

He gave me the opposite prescription at first (I have a positive number for my spherical, and he gave me a negative number). I immediately knew it was wrong because it was incredibly disorienting, and he told me that my old lenses were prepared poorly and this is what they were supposed to be like and I just needed to keep using them and adjust to this. He confidently showed me the measurement on the machine behind the counter to prove it, but luckily I happened to notice that the number was wrong and pointed it out. To his credit, he apologized and fixed it, but it took an extra hour of sitting in his shop to wait for it. I can't get over how badly this would have messed up my eyes if I did as he said and just used them until my eyes adapted, which would have never happened. I have new glasses now with allegedly the same prescription, and they feel shockingly better when I compare them one after another. So I am concerned that at the end of the day, something was still wrong after all that. Perhaps it was the pupillary distance which he measured in a rush using a device which I may have been looking into wrong since I didn't have an explanation. 2. The whole process was expensive, and the lens quality was poor. I think they were the lowest quality lens material with no or poor antireflective coating. I accept that this is to be expected when buying on short notice, but there was no discussion of what i was buying or what options were available. This is mostly poor judgement on my part, and does not contribute much to my low score here besides the subpar price/quality ratio. He seems like a really nice guy, and perhaps service is much more accurate and faster on a day that isn't as busy as the day I went in. However, I wish that I had just put up with the scratch for another few weeks and waited for my glasses from the internet.

After my call with them today, I would say my one problem is that there seems to be a lot of miscommunication between what they tell you and what your insurance actually covers. Especially considering I am in network. The math just doesn't add up. When you try to ask questions and elaborate on why their quotes don't match what insurance is telling me, the staff gets weirdly aggressive on the phone, insulting other companies and also just trying to up-charge you. EDIT: The staff was very apologetic about the misunderstanding in communication. Dr. I. was very gracious and actually able to explain my benefits and how it related to my cost breakdown. That is representative of a good company. So I will update my review!

When I objected, they said they'd waive the $39 "fee" so I paid $55. The optometrist was very good but wrote me a prescription valid for one year (standard is two years.) Again I asked why and they said "Oh, we want you to come back in a year to make sure you don't have any problems." (Read: "come back for another overpriced exam.") I insisted they change it, which they did. When I asked for an estimate for my lenses, they quoted $995. Lenses only!! I got quotes from\ two other reputable opticians for $445 and $459. Go to Custon Eyes on 50 Prospect St., Cambridge. He's honorable and well-priced.
