I bought a Groupon for SEE on a whim. I have a very high prescription, so I stopped in one day shortly after acquiring both the Groupon and my prescription just to ask if they could make these glasses (something I probably should have done before acquiring the Groupon). Both the optician and the sales associate were very friendly and they assured me they could, so I said I would be back when I had the time to choose frames. It was a while before I got back there, but one Sunday my boyfriend and I decided to tackle the daunting task of choosing frames for me. The sales associate was very outgoing and cheerful, and I liked that she had an opinion about what frames would fit well with my face and what wouldn't (in contrast to salespeople who just try to gauge what you like and support that). There were frames in all kinds of shapes and colors, which was definitely a challenge for me because I am used to having neutral colors and basic frames. I ended up with a couple of frames I really liked, and finally chose one after a ton of beseeching looks at my boyfriend asking for input. I got my glasses today and I am pleased with them. I am only giving 4 stars, though, because their prices are on the expensive side (I thought the price I ended up paying was reasonable, and that was after subtracting $200 for the Groupon) and I think they only have one optician, so on Wednesdays and Sundays (the days he isn't there), no one there is able to adjust glasses that don't fit well. read more

I've been wear glasses since I was eight years old. Believe me, I know how challenging it is to find the right frame, at the right price. The challenge with opticians attached to your optometrist/ophthalmologist office is price. You're a captive audience, and they make it so easy for you. But they don't often carry great styles, and they charge more for lenses and frames. SEE Eyewear's Cambridge store has a beautifully edited collection of men's, women's, and unisex glasses. They bundle the price of frames and lenses (with an upcharge for high-index lenses, but that's standard almost everywhere). You can try frames on at your own pace, and no one is rushing you to buy. They also don't "insist" that a certain shape looks better or worse on your face. Store manager Katie, and her trusty colleague, Erika, were fantastic. Went to SEE for new frames and an eye exam which is usually a drag for me but I ended up having the time of my life. Everyone there was SOOOOOO nice! First, some info: SEE doesn't accept Superior Vision or MIT extended insurance. At least according to Donny. Which is kind of okay! But... Why 2 stars? The sales associates were so fun and articulate while I was browsing, but as soon as we went to checkout, the one helping me suddenly developed a stuttering problem, and not wanting to sound like an meany, I stopped asking him to repeat everything. He eventually handed me the receipt, folded over 4 times for whatever reason, whereupon a pair of glasses with a $209 list price suddenly became $470, with a 10% student discount somehow applied to make it $370. The only add-on I got was an anti reflective coating, and the store website says that the cost of lenses is included in the frames cost, and I don't have an extreme prescription. There was also no tax. Okay then. They said they'd call when the glasses were made in about a week. Two weeks later, they still hadn't called, and it turns out they got my phone number wrong. My glasses also turned out purple, but I ordered black and my receipt says they are black. The frames are also low quality, as jiggly as the store display from day one. I'm pretty sure the strength is also wrong, as I have a Snellen chart at home. But, at this point I was moving out of state in a day, so... live and learn! read more

Was hesitant when I first walked in but the employees here are WONDERFUL!!! Helped me get frames for the first time in about a decade and I can't tell you how happy I am with them. The service was fantastic, not pushy but helpful. She knew everything about my insurance & was honest with what I needed. The last place I went to prior to SEE were going to charge me double for the same priced frames, how that works I"ll never know! The two employees there were just fab to work with, not to mention funny. The guy related to me since we both have crooked nose & uneven ears, what can you do... Horrible horrible quality. I have bought many $100 sunglasses on line but was so happy to have a brick and mortar option. The people in the shop are very very nice ..... BUTTTTT In just a week the arms were falling off and the screws weren't staying put. I went in once to have them fixed. Just 2 weeks later same thing. NOw I was ready for a refund for these very handsome but poorly constructed shades. Additionally they never got them fitted to my face correctly. NOPE!!! I just love this place! Great selection, reasonable prices, and truly exceptional and friendly service. I recently lost a pair of prescription sunglasses that I purchased a couple months ago, and was sad today to find that they had no more of the frame model left in stock. I had been looking for large tortoise shell frames for a long time and found them at See when I just wandered into the store in Harvard Square. A friend had mentioned that they were great when I told him wandered in to see what they had. Katie Doble and I hit it right off she has got to be the nicest salesperson in the Square. I told her what I was looking for and she knew right away the frames I wanted. I put then on and fell in love! About 10 days later my glasses came in and I have loved them ever since. Steven Gouveia, the Optician, was wonderful in fitting them and making sure I was happy. I still am happy and now wish that spring would get here so I can wear them all the time. I now own two pairs of glasses and a pair of sunglasses. Everyone who works there is amazingly helpful, which is necessary since they have so many different styles to choose from and they keep a record of what glasses you have purchased in the past to find something that fits your style. fumiko @ see (harvard sq) is amazing! we went in yesterday, shopping for new frames for my husband. usually, we get really intimidated when a sales person approaches us at an eyewear store, just because we like scoping the entire range of selections and taking our time, but fumiko was great! she'd ask if we needed help, then give us plenty of time and space to explore and then was readily available when we wanted information about pricing, etc. the other staff members seemed really great and friendly too. also, my husband has vsp, which they don't cover but they still give you a 30% discount off the total price. they advised and even recommended an outside optometrist who takes vsp so we get coverage for that! we'll come back to order the frames and lens once that is done, because nowhere else did we find the selection of products and helpfulness :) we had told fumiko when asking for the pricing that we wanted to choose the frame and lenses for my husband but that we were not ready to buy until after the exam. she knew all this and she still was so motivated to help us,even when the store was full of other customers. she spent about an hour for us (because we came to her table with about 6 choices, patiently watching us choose which one would be "the one" hehe), and put all my husband's information on the computer (per our permission) so that everything is ready and speedy once the exam results from an outside optometrist are ready :) also, when giving us the price, she neatly broke down the pricing for each of the frames and lenses, making the selection process completely transparent... something i really appreciate after our last pair at another harvard sq optometrist cost us over $600 with insurance and got us purple transition lenses by accident (and i have had to live with my husband looking like funky elton john junior under the sun for the last 2 years!). we are really picky (specially me) when it comes to liking a place but i really loved it here! :) will update once my husband orders and receives the frames. it makes me want to buy a pair even though only my husband needs glasses! read more

Absolutely positively AMAZING! Even though I've been wearing glasses for 20+ years, I came in to SEE not knowing anything about anything, and Rob recognized my confusion and picked out the frames I ended up purchasing! I also learned so much about how to choose frames that are good for my face and prescription (e.g., metal frames aren't the best for a strong prescription, because the thickness will stick out). Rob was incredibly patient with me while I took photos for my mom and sister (to help me decide on frames) and even took a few for me. The service here is excellent! I'd give them 5 stars, but I honestly only saw one pair of glasses I thought looked halfway decent on me. Maybe that's just MY problem ... I don't like myself in glasses usually. Damn my bad eyesight. Anyhow, they immediately greeted me upon arrival and helped me to pick something out. The girl who helped me the first time was honest about what looked better on me, and she was very knowledgeable about their products. She was very friendly and helped me find out whether I had an insurance discount (something that hadn't occurred to me). She got me out of there in no time. I received a call sooner than expected that the glasses were ready. When I went to pick them up, a guy helped me. Although it was busy, he immediately greeted me, just like the first time, and had me sit down while he went to get my glasses. He was completely calm and friendly and able to attend to everyone in the store, unlike employees in some places who get easily frazzled when it's busy. He made sure the glasses fit perfectly and told me how to care for them. I would definitely go back and I recommend this place to anyone looking for affordable, cute glasses! read more

Great experience, great product, good price. So, I must have gone to about 10 eyeglass stores over the past week trying to find the perfect pair. There was so much of the same stuff and pricey at that. As soon as I walked in to SEE it was different. The way they layout their products, greet their customers, and take care of you with the fitting was exceptional. I found a really solid pair of glasses that were very unique for under $250 (including anti-glare coating, w/o would have been only $165). My glasses were ready within 2 days. read more

I just got my second pair of eyeglasses at the Cambridge store. I love these as much as my first pair. The service I received from Trang Nguyen was incredible. I had ordered frames that didn't work well for me because of the size/shape of them (great hexagonal frames). They made me dizzy when looking left/right. She tried switching the lenses, a different material, and they still didn't work for me. Frustrated and feeling bad for how hard she tried, we went on the search for new frames. Trang was patient and most helpful in sorting through the myriad of choices. I can't recommend SEE and Trang more. I have been in sales for my whole career and we know it's all about service and Trang is a model sales/customer service person. Thanks! read more

My co-workers and I were looking for some eyeglasses to amp up our fashion-eye-q and I had heard about SEE from a friend. Their hours are not super convenient, so it took us a little while to get there, but WOW! Their glasses are super fun, seem well made, and Katie Doble, the super high energy, slightly over the top, but in a memorable and good way, makes the shopping experience fun. My friend's glasses came in three days later, when they could have taken ten. The prices are reasonable, and can't beat the glasses for uniqueness. I have walked into See several times to browse, once looking to buy my boyfriend a pair of sunglasses, and once to buy a non-prescription pair for myself. I will always be a loyal customer! The store is clean, and well laid out, no bullshit, just glasses that you are free to try. They only carry their own designs, so don't go in looking for ray-bans, although they do have some comparable styles. Also, if you see a pair you like, buy them, because they won't be in stock for long. Each design is a limited edition. The man who helped me patiently let me browse around for a long time before making a decision, and put a lot of effort into helping me find what I wanted. All of the designs are stylish and simple, and they don't print their brand name on the outside of the frames, which I LOVE. The only downside is that they are pretty pricey (they are in Harvard Square, after all), but the price of the frames includes prescription lenses (the price is the same even if you don't get prescription lenses, fyi). The glasses came with a case, cleaning cloth, and cleaning wipes. They carefully fitted them for me in about a minute, and were nice about it when I came back 10 minutes later to have them adjust the fit. The glasses are high quality, worth the price (cheaper than some designer non-prescription glasses), and very stylish! Definitely recommend. read more

SEE has a wonderful selection of frames -- from conservative, but not bland, to vibrant works of art. Yesterday was my first time there but won't be my last. I felt comfortable to take my time and try on as many frames as I wanted. In fact, I was encouraged to do so. Katie Doble, the store manager, is fantastic! What I love about her is her energy, enthusiasm, and obvious enjoyment of her product and of people. The best thing for me was that she had no problem telling me, ":No, that's not for you," e.g., wrong shape, wrong color, etc., while offering me alternatives. And that's what I needed -- someone to help me with my selection but not breathe down my neck. There's nothing original about this place.....it's a chain store but they sell it like you are buying something original. I felt pressured by them and didn't like their sales tactics. They immediately knew what pair was right for me and they all rushed over to tell me how great I looked. Not sure, I bought them and now I'm getting comments like, "I like your old glasses better," "They don't fit you." Plus, they aren't comfortable. So, I'm stuck.....can't bring them back with a full refund, only an exchange. They're also very flip, not professional. I will not be back! read more

The shop has a terrific range of good looking eyeglasses. Service is very good.
