Well, in the case of this particular coffee shop on Robert Street in Slidell, they were so good it's worthy of mentioning. It's Sirincci Coffee Company, a small chain of boutique coffee shops. My gf and I stopped in randomly while doing an errand on the Northshore (we live in New Orleans about 35 miles away) with no experience or expectations. Even if I had had expectations, they would've blown them away anyway. First, I guess I'll talk about the drinks. Sirincci offers a seasonal specials menu, and it's criminally good. Terrible and guilt inducing in all the best ways. We both ordered from the Fall menu. She had the Cool Front Latte-caramel and cinnamon latte topped with brown butter toffee cheesecake cold foam (yes, you read that right). I had the Pecan Pie Chai-praline chai with rich brown butter toffee. My gf is gluten intolerant, and the barista verified the cheesecake topping was gluten free...whew. Both drinks were prepared quickly but tasted like they had spent hours on them. I rarely use the term "mouthwatering" for beverages, but these qualified. I included a pic of their current fall menu to drool over. Beyond the perfect drinks, the service matched the quality. Our barista taking our order was so patient as we peppered her with questions about their menu, and made great recommendations. The atmosphere in the cafe is super homey and even family friendly. There were a variety of board games and kid friendly seating. I watched a happy little girl getting mercilessly schooled in UNO (reverse, reverse, reverse, take four!), and a father and son playing Battleship. I'm not big on kid-friendly places, but the atmosphere managed to stay quiet and comfortable. We sipped (gulped) our drinks while sitting in a comfy loveseat taking in the place. There are some truly unique Knick Knacks displayed and for sale, including hilarious stickers available at the counter (one pictured). But I've saved the best for last! For those of you not familiar with Sirincci, they have an "Angel program" where you can pre purchase drinks to gift future customers! There is a display on the wall with tags clipped to it with the names of various drinks people have gifted, available to take and redeem by ANYBODY! I purchased a few to gift, grateful for the tangible opportunity to show gratitude for my security. That might be the coolest thing I've ever seen at a commercial business. So yes, if you find yourself in Slidell, treat yourself to the most sinful drink you can get without alcohol and a mini-getaway feel.

The only problem, it was the opposite direction I was headed and I was already running late. But I couldn't ignore that instinct. I had to see for myself. "Sorry boss, can't come in today. I was on my way to work and then a gentle fall breeze blew me in the direction of my destiny and reminded me it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world!" Anywho, I'm so happy I stopped. The moment I walked in it felt like home, not in the corny sitcom way, but in that deeper unexpected kind of way. Like walking into a crowded room full of strangers and then seeing your homegirl that instantly makes you feel like yourself again and suddenly the day is yours. Mind you I hadn't even ordered at this point, but that's how good just walking inside made me feel. i felt like a mom that has been saying "you not getting that" all year then christmas day be grinning when baby open that present they been wanting!! Then there's the coffee, I'm still sipping my Beehive Latte now and it's fabulous. And I don't say fabulous often. I was going to go with a vanilla latte but since I sort of felt like I was in Adam and Eve's garden I wanted to try something new. The owner recommended the Crème Brûlée Latte but his wife overheard me going back and forth in my head (out loud) and suggested the Beehive since I like my coffee sweet but not overwhelming. This latte is perfect, pure perfection. I grabbed a chocolate croissant too because they looked delicious and they absolutely delivered. Flaky, golden and brown and no I'm not describing myself. The pastries all looked heavenly. Everything was perfect. Sure, I'm having an exceptionally good day already, maybe because of the weather, maybe because it's Friday, or maybe because I'm an attractive single 6'3 male and ready for eligible suitors. Either way, the service, their smiles, the coffee, the plants, everything was otherworldly. I'd go out of my way to come back. Wanna come with?

So yummy and so sweet. The environment is cozy. Plants everywhere. Nature makes a space a positive element. I go here to relax when I need a pick me up or simply am craving a sweet caffeinated beverage. My only thing is the prices. They are a bit high, which is why I'm rating 4 stars, BUT totally worth the price for the amount of options you get to choose from and the quality of the coffee. :)

The filling was obviously jelly and it was well proportioned throughout the donut. The powder covered the whole donut. I only got two but I should've gotten 4, at least! The service here was also friendly, fast, and efficient. The young lady who helped us was kind and helpful. This location does a TON of drive-thru business so maybe that's the idea - play to your audience. There is free wi-fi and hard tables and chairs to sit, but no stuffed couches or anything cushy. The parking lot at this location is poorly designed, so when the drive-thru line gets long it blocks all the parking spaces in front of the door, including the handicapped spaces. The alternative is to park on the drive-thru side of the building, but then you have to cut between the cars waiting in line and walk around the building. Not user-friendly in the best of circumstances, and if it's raining I'll go elsewhere. It's the closest one to my house and it's not ALWAYS lined up around the building so I keep going back. I love Starbucks' hot tea.

There are so many items on the menu. The girl was super friendly and very helpful. It didn't take long for her to fix the bowl. I was in and out in no time. I may give them another chance and try a different bowl, but the banana is a no for me. Oh wait! While service can occasionally be slow during peak hours due to staffing challenges, the staff on duty are always friendly and accommodating. Furthermore, the prices are very reasonable. This was not our first visit to the Big Easy, and it certainly won't be our last. If you are looking for fast food, the major chains are located just down the street, and if you are seeking fine dining, this is not that either. The Big Easy Diner is simply a wonderful place to enjoy a quality meal.
