First, I'd like to say the food here is incredible! It was my first time trying Thai food and I'm mad I didn't try it sooner! The food was very flavorful, fresh, and made with great seasoning. The service was phenomenal as well. The ambiance was awesome as well, great place to eat with friends and family and they also have a patio as well if you'd prefer to eat outside. Will definitely be back!

Absolutely love eating here. The staff is great and ambiance is perfect. We dream about their wings and their beef pad see ew is delicious. Do not sleep on this place! The outdoor setup is super cute for the summer

Went to Secret Thai Kitchen in Freeport on a Saturday afternoon. The inside has a relaxed casual vibe and feels like a comfortable neighborhood Thai spot. It is cute enough for lunch or a low key dinner and the staff was attentive and checked on us throughout the meal. They do have happy hour until 4 on Saturdays with $3 off cocktails which is a nice perk. I had the margaritas and they were actually really good and made strong so I will give them that. For food I ordered the whole fried snapper with basil. The fish itself was fresh and fried really well. Texture was great and it was cooked properly. The basil sauce just did not have much flavor for me which was disappointing. The fish deserved a better sauce. We also had the chicken pad see ew. The noodles were soft and cooked nicely but the dish was much sweeter than I am used to for Thai food and very heavy on sodium. It was a little overpowering. Overall the drinks and service were the highlights for me. The food was just not memorable and for Thai I expect more depth of flavor.

Went as a group of 3 for dinner. Very friendly service and quick. It felt very homey and comfortable inside. Food was 100/100. Will definitely be coming back. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious.

Some people, when they think of family, they think of fast cars and ice cold coronas but when I think of family: family values, family recipes, I think of Thai punch and Secret Thai Kitchen on the Freeport Mile. You could probably find ice cold, coronas there too, and fast cars that drive up and down the Avenue but be sure to stop in to Secret Thai Kitchen where the portions are generous, the families love is evident in every bite of delicious perfectly made dishes. I TRULY LOVED THAT PAPAYA SALAD. I talk about that papaya salad all the time.

Cocktail variety is delicious and on brand. Coconut mojito is the perfect summer drink. Appetizers are so good too, even without meat. The canai with roti is a great appetizer and intro to massaman if you need one. Service is quick and the space is clean and spacious. Worth a visit for sure. Plus the ey have parking which is a major plus.

Our first time here and the service were fantastic! We had our 3 year old with us and they were very kids friendly they came with a child cup and utensils right away. The menu had so many options everything looked really good! We settled with calamari, pad thai, iced tea. Everything was absolutely delicious and the Thai iced tea was so on point! My kids loved the pad Thai noodles they said it was the best they ever had! We will def return and parking was easy they have a nice lot at the back making it easy for us!

Secret Thai Kitchen is a great addition to the mile! They have wonderful service and a cute/cozy ambiance! I got the wings and egg fried rice super flavorful and cooked to perfection! I highly recommend coming here!

Our favorite Thai spot on the island. They have a huge menu. Items that you usually don't find at other places. This place is legit. You cannot go wrong with anything you order. Love the Thai fried rice and the grilled pork. The pad Thai and pad see ew is fantastic. You have to order at least one curry dish while you're there. Amazing!! The service is always so good here too. They are top of everything. The food comes out piping hot, so fresh, and fast. Always always always save room for dessert. The mango sticky rice is generous and delicious. And for the nautical mile, it's great that they have parking in the back, so convenient! During off season it is really easy to find parking on the street out front too. Be aware, that like majority of businesses on the mile there is a high threshold step to get in the establishment. So those who need handicap accessibility, please keep that in mind.

I'm so picky with Thai food and this spot is LEGIT! Ahmee and his staff are absolutely incredible- the recipes are passed down from generation to generation. The new dish, garlic pepper calamari is an absolute MUST! Highly Recommend!

Coach was a great server and the dinner was excellent. They have good happy hour deal. Would come back again and the place is quiet.

Fried Calamari

Place is nicely decorated. Food came out relatively quick. Service is good. The red curry was very yummy. Calamari was kind of bland if you don't dip the sauce. Pad see ew lacked a little flavor (was well salted but not much "taste") in comparison to the other Thai places I've been to.

Ask the Community - Secret Thai Kitchen

Hello, I was a huge fan of your location in Astoria. Do you still have the Pa Lo (the pork belly stew)?

Hi! Thank you so much for the love and support from our Astoria days — it means a lot to us! We no longer have the Pa Lo pork belly stew on the menu, but we’ve added plenty of other delicious Thai dishes you might love, like Secret Thai Wings, Tom…

Do you guys use halal meat?

Hi, we do not.

Do you have a whole fish menu? Thx.

Yes - we have whole fish in our specials dine in menu. You can view it in the link below: https://www.secretthaikitchen.com/uploads/1/4/4/7/144718868/seafood_specials.pdf

We had made reservation reservations for 7:30 PM. We ordered our drinks and appetizers which were very good. She spoke in English, but her accent was too thick that it was incomprehensible. When I ordered cold sake, the waitress informed me they only had hot sake. Then she told me she will bring hot sake and I can put ice cubes in it, quite rudely. It seems she misunderstood my wife and pointed a finger at my wife and said, " I don't give a shit if you don't come here again". She walked away. Then the chef came out to ask us what the problem was. We told him we had no issues with the food was very good and we weren't sure why the Waitress was upset. Probably she misunderstood English or had a hearing problem. When the main course was brought to the table, our friend asked that another Waitress, who brought the food as to what she was putting in front of her. The second Waitress was not polite either. She brought a soya bean made dish. My friend had ordered a chicken dish. This Waitress took back the plate and she realized that she had brought the wrong order of another customer. Instead of apologizing, she just went to bring the chicken dish. Our evening was ruined by bad service and bad behavior of the staff. The chef came out of the kitchen and he told us that it's OK with him if we don't come back to his restaurant again. We were all stunned at what we were hearing. All six of us are of Indian origin. This was a classic case of racial discrimination. We would never visit Hug Thai if it was the last Restaurant on this planet, even if the food was free!!

Tucked into a row of small local businesses (a rarity these days on LI, the land of huge strip…read moremalls with big box stores), sits Thai Station, a humble little restaurant that offers up a pretty big menu of Thai staples as well as some less easier to find dishes, like my favorite, Tao Hu Hor (bean curd sheet with spinach and mushrooms). What makes it even better? The nicest service that you can imagine. I know they have a huge takeout customer base, judging by the constant dings coming in through the computer and the restaurant was empty when my father and I walked in for a late lunch/early AF dinner (5:30 pm). I always prefer eating at a restaurant to takeout/delivery and although the space is pretty basic, it's well-decorated and comfortable. I didn't expect them to have alcohol, but they do have beer and wine, not a huge list or anything, and I wasn't drinking anyway, but nice to know. My dad got his favorite: massaman beef curry and I got the Tao Hu Hor. It came out quickly, which was good as I was on a time crunch and needed to get back to work. I knew as soon as I laid eyes on my food, it would be good and I was correct. Gorgeous little bundles of veggies smothered in black bean sauce, one of my favorite flavors and in addition to the bean curd skin that wraps around piles of spinach and mushrooms, there's also slices of bean curd, so this is a plant protein powerhouse dish. And absolutely delicious. My father almost lost his mind over how good the sauce is and I think he may consider ordering it in the future (he's a devout meat eater so this is unusual, heh). I'm so glad to have a new LI discovery. We'll be putting this on regular rotation when I'm in town.
