First off, this has always been one of my favorite places when it comes to being pampered. Unfortunately, out of every single massage I've had with Second day wind spa my last was terrible. I had the Signature massage for 90 minutes. The bed was cold, not heated as usual, the room had a cool draft, the music which normally is relaxing was annoying with medium pitched symbols so I couldn't ZEN- My young therapist was good but didn't give me the feel of experience. I never received hot stones, warm oil but instead cold lotion. I could go on but I won't cause I plan to try them one more time before I call it quits. Had my 1st EVER facial today thanks so my husband coercing me via a gift certificate. I had the diamond dermabrasion and peel with Becky. The atmosphere was calming and all the wonderful scents were heaven. Becky answered each of my questions and explained everything she was doing throughout the process. I used to get massages here just about every other month but I haven't been back for several reasons. I receive emails with specials all the time. When I could finally attend one of the sessions the receptionist informs me that it was an error on their part and a massage was actually $55 not $35 like the email stated. A few hours later they sent out an email apologizing for the inconvenience. I then received another email about 2 months later with a great deal only to call and be told again that it was an error and they would be sending out a corrected email. For the massages themselves I think they are good but not great. It all depends when you have your appointment and which masseuse you get that really determines your experience. It would be nice if the services were consistent. On some occasions, I had to wait until after my appointment time to get started and received a rushed massage. Other times I was taken in before my appointment and felt so relaxed. The Spa itself is very relaxing, clean, and comfortable but more expensive than other spas. read more

Ahhh.... This is what a spa should be.... I love this place. As soon as you walk into the spa area (the area that's not the reception area), you feel as if you've been transported to faraway, exotic Bali. Sounds corny and stupid, but it happens every time I come here: I walk through the door and I stop to turn around and look back because it instantly feels like a completely different world in there. The ugly desert scenery instantly vanishes, the pleasantly warm temperature envelopes you like a blanket, the music and lighting is relaxing... Second Wind definitely succeeds in providing a getaway from the desert. The masseuses and estheticians are all wonderful - they make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Depending on what service you get and who works on you, sometimes your session will be relaxing and quiet, sometimes it will be a little more talkative but very informational. But you will for sure walk out feeling relaxed and like you did something good for yourself (which you did!). And if you don't, at least you'll walk out with some nice free sample products. Today I went for the Balinese Body Ritual. My sister summed up the experience and the after-effects perfectly: We felt dizzy with relaxation. Sigh... I was really debating on whether or not to go to a spa to treat myself. The night before I requested an appointment for another massage place. Then I came onto yelp and saw the horrible reviews for that place. So then I found this one. I called in the morning about getting an appointment that day, I had to leave a message. Not 10 minutes later a really nice lady called me back and I booked the appointment. I showed up 15 minutes early to fill out the usual paperwork when you are a new client. Then they took me to the relaxation room while I waited for my appointment to start. The room was really calm and had snacks. I then started my appointment.. I had Jennifer. I decided to do that months special which was the Seaside retreat. We first started with a full body scrub. Then she did the seaweed wrap. Afterward she wrapped me in blankets and let me rest. I was so relaxed I literally fell asleep. Then I washed all the stuff off and she did a 50 minute massage. It was fantastic! Again, I never do these things because I always traveled outside of the AV and didn't want to spend the money. Now that I know they are there I will try and at least go once a month. I went for a facial and massage yesterday. What a lovely experience! Carmen was so professional in a gentle but effective way. She really took her time and I walked away feeling refreshed. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, Saya gave me a fabulous massage. He worked out so many of my knots. However I did purchase a mask that was recommended but it burned my my face I have VERY VERY sensitive skin and when I went to return it, like they said I could! Apparently they couldn't refund me back my 23$ cause it would leave their register "unbalanced" for the day, were the managers "words" so they could either give me store credit or they can "Mail" me a check! A check for 23$! Seriously, how can u not refund me when I paid cash! Made an appointment for myself and my mother in law for facials. Came in today and was greeted, and escorted to the waiting area. Filled out a short Q and A about the condition of our skin and waited to get our treatments. My MIL went first, and came out an hour later, glowing and feeling so relaxed. When it was my turn Kathy, The esthetician, took me to the treatment room to undress and get ready. The room is dark, quiet with relaxing music, and smelled amazing. Hints of lemongrass filled the air. The bed was cozy with a nice warm blanket to cover with. I chose the second wind signature facial . Kathy started cleansing my skin, used steam to open my pores, and continued to massage many different creams, oils, exfoliants, and masks. Then she massaged cream into my décolletage, neck, and shoulders. She also massaged my arms and hands. Was the most relaxing, and therapeutic massage Iv'e experienced and that's considering that it was only a mini massage. When my hour was up I was told that I could get dressed and take my time in the waiting room before paying. Every staff member was so warm and friendly, but Kathy is the whole package! I would not recommend this place for pedicures! The staff is all very pleasant and nice. I had a pedicure and it was to me not good at all. The girl only had a handful of colors to pick from.
