TRIGGER WARNING: SEXUAL HARASSMENT It has taken me a long time to write this review but I genuinely thought this business would have shut down by now. To my surprise it hasn't... . But it has come to my attention that the owner of this business (Tommy) has CONTINUED to sexually harass their clients. SO here is what happened to me in 2020: They were only taking one-on-one appointments due to COVID regulations. At the time I was 22 years old. His wife and daughter were in the business towards the back of the business in a room so it was just me and him in the main lobby on a pedicure chair. I had scheduled to do a manicure and pedicure. It started off with a regular manicure and pedicure and his weird comments began. Comments as in "you look so much younger than your age because of how small and petite your body is" -- the comments continued "you have really nice hands and really nice feet" -- they continued, "you are gonna look young for a very long time since you are small and have such a nice body" then the routine of a massage on the feet and calves began (this was normal and expected) THEN his hands traveled up my legs into my inner thighs and then to my shoulders and chest area..... I COMPLETELY FROZE. Up to this day I wish I would have reacted differently but I shut down. I felt completely and utterly paralyzed and in shock!!! It's been years later and I still reflect on how I should have spoken up and reacted differently. One of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life. I truly hope this business shuts down!! that his wife wakes up that her husband is a COMPLETE CREEP, and that should have NEVER happened to anyone!!! I walked in and they took me in early, they sat me at the same station as the previous customer and did not disinfect anything AT ALL! He cut my natural nails and didn't even file them. He then did the acrylics without any cuticle prep. He did not seem happy at all during the appointment and the only time I saw him smile was when I paid him and gave him a $10 tip. He gave me something completely different then what I showed him and the language barrier made it hard for me to explain what I wanted. I was reluctant to post my review but this man needs to be held accountable for harassing me. First things first the work was amazing and it's extremely clean in there. It's run by a wife and husband, the wife was so sweet and nice. HOWEVER, I was genuinely SEXUALLY HARASSED by the husband. He kept making comments about how beautiful I was which is very nice but inappropriate when you're providing a service but also MARRIED working four stations away from your wife. I kept mentioning my boyfriend and even showed a photo hoping that would make it stop. He said "how lucky my boyfriend was" and then went on to say how he "normally doesn't like white girls but I'm making him change his mind" he asked what I did for a living I told him I do hair, he said "you should cut my hair sometime and I'll take you out to dinner" and I said oh no you're hair already looks fine! He asked what food I like, I said sushi or Italian he said "you can come over I'll make you sushi" Trying to not be rude because I was SO uncomfortable, but I was very desperate to get my nails done because I had a trip planned the next day, I booked this appt in advance based on all the good reviews, it was already 4 pm so I didn't have a choice but to stay or walk out with half done Let me say this, at the beginning he didn't really talk except to ask what shape I wanted/etc and I was just playing on my phone. Then about halfway through it started. I got so uncomfortable that when he went to do my pedicure I was in a long dress with shorts underneath and he kept trying to LIFT UP my legs to get them in the water. I did not allow him and he kept smiling and laughing. I said I have to go can you please just change the polish (I was in desperate need for a full pedicure but I was so uncomfortable I just wanted to leave) he said no no no it's okay and I said no I'm already running late for my plans (which was a lie so I could leave) and he said probably 3-5 times "are you sure you don't want a massage" "it only takes 5 minutes" "are you sure". It was so disgusting and just made MY SKIN CRAWL!!! I just wanted to leave and never come back. I talked to a couple people the last few weeks and every single person said I should write a review and not let him get away with it. I've been on the hunt (just like everyone else) for "my" nail salon since I've moved to the AV 6 months ago. I initially wanted to go to Polished Nail Salon bc of all of the awesome reviews, but they wouldn't take my calls, so I called here and I'm really glad I did! The shop is not fancy but the people who run it are awesome, knowledgeable, and kind. I went in for a refill, repair, and new gel polish. The only negative things I have to say about my appointment were that 1) he cut me when taking off my nail that needed repair. I would've like for him to soak me for a few minutes to soften the nail or to take his time. 2) I was charged an additional fee to reshape my nails. Maybe this is common, but in all of the years I've been getting my nails done, I've nerve been charged for a reshape. 3) The color selection is a little below average. Having said that, they had the perfect color for me. Aside from that, I've decided that this will be MY nail shop! I loved the atmosphere and their daughter is adorable. I think we're best friends now lol. Update to my previous review: Since my first appointment, I have been back several times, mostly for broken nails. Tommy fixed a few of them for free and also fit me in last minute. Great customer service. read more
