I've eaten here a couple times. The food is really good...but beware the potato soup. It is really good, but it will fill you up fast. The salad is good, but not your average salad. The cakes are amazing, too, so save room for dessert! This place is decorated with German chotskies and they play German music. They also sell some German stuff...kinder chocolates and whatnot. I think reservations are encouraged. It was just a little expensive for our budget. read more

Sebastian's is good, but some things could be improved. The good: Portions are large and for the money, worth every bit. Schnitzels are delicious. Desserts are also very good. The not-so-good: Bread stale. Soup cold. read more

Amazing food. Potato pancakes are flavorful and awesome. Great portion size very filling and great atmosphere. Love all the nick nacks in the wall. Try the sauerkraut!! read more

Had lunch here and it exceeded my expectations. It looks a little hokey from the outside but don't pass it by! My husband got the Goulash soup to start which was seriously yummy. We then got potato pancakes. They were good - a little greasy but still good. We both had the Sauerbraten with spaetzle and it was really awesome. Can't wait to eat the leftovers as a saucy sandwich! Will definitely go back and try different things and try their brunch on the weekend. They have other weekly specials that looked cool. Highly recommend. read more

To get better food, one would have to travel to Germany. This is almost as good as eating in my dear Mother's kitchen. So many of the things Mom used to make that I haven't had for years, they serve. read more

My sisters and I went there for a late lunch/early dinner. I have to eat gluten free due to celiac. I had the unbreaded veal cutlet ( Kalbs Schnitzel Natur Broiled Tender Veal Cutlets ), German Potato Salad and red cabbage. Everything was very good. My sisters both had the Hungarian stew (goulash), stuffed cabbage roll with Spaetzle. They each had two sides. My one sister had the sauerkraut, which none of us liked. They lived with their grandmother who made German potato salad, and her's had more bacon in it, and possibly a bit more vinegar, but they were still pleased with Sebastian's German potato salad. We look forward to going back. And the kitsch around the dining room is great to look at. Very friendly and helpful service. read more

Wow! They treated me like family. Great server-Amy. She did a great job and was very attentive. Great traditional German favorites. Definitely a great jäger schnitzel I plan to go back to try the rham schnitzel as well. Red cabbage is a must!!! read more

I went here after finding the restaurant on Yelp. I totally enjoyed the atmosphere. I felt like I was sitting in my dining room having dinner with my family. This was only the second time having German Food, so I really don't have much to compare to. But I have to say that I throughly enjoyed my dinner and the tour by the owner. read more

So I called on a Tuesday night for a reservation and left a message and was promptly called back. The person i spoke with was funny and personable. As I told her my first name for the reservation (Carl) she immediately asked, in a German accent, "sprechen sie deutsch?" I laughed and said, wait for the last name--saracino-- upon which we both laughed and finalized my reservation. We reserved a table for 10 and upon our arrival, on a busy Saturday night, we were immediately seated. We ordered bratwurst and sauerkraut and two orders of perogi's both came out quickly and were delicious. The brats were grilled, sliced and laid over the kraut and devoured quickly. The perogi's were served with sour cream and were equally as tasty. We all loved our generous portioned dinners from chicken veal and pork schnitzels to rahm and zigeuner schnitzel. The brown gravy was a great topper on the mashed potatoes and schnitzel. Servers were excellent, meals came out quickly/accurately and drink glasses were never empty. Great place and a great night out!! read more

Food is pretty good and it is BYOB. The atmosphere is kind of creepy though. There are family photos on all of the tables and there are dolls EVERYWHERE!! read more

My family and I decided to try this place for a takeout change-of-pace during COVID after seeing all the positive reviews. My first complaint lies in the fact that their website does not list prices for any of their items and the prices listed on Tripadvisor and Yelp were significantly cheaper than what I ended up paying. When they told me the total price for everything on the phone, I was perplexed as to why it was so expensive. We ordered two entrees along with three appetizers and one side dish and the order somehow came out to $88 (after tax) when we thought it would be in the low-mid $60 range. When I arrived at the restaurant, the staff handed me a paper takeout menu to go over the pricing and told me "everything on the menu is now increased by at least $2". This included appetizers and entrees but what it really meant was appetizers had gone up by a minimum of $2 while entrees may have gone up as much as $4-$5. For instance, the Rahm Schnitzel was listed on trip advisor at $18.50 and they told me it is now $22.50 (an increase of nearly 22%). I am still unaware of the price breakdown for all the other items I ordered as the place is also doing a CASH ONLY business right now". I am not sure if this constitutes false advertising or not since all menus available to the public are significantly cheaper than current prices would otherwise indicate, including the paper menu handed to me at the restaurant which again, is not available on the restaurant's website. Aside from this issue, the staff was otherwise pleasant to deal with and included a Blueberry Strudel desert on the house for the price confusion. Now despite the extremely positive reviews, we were further disappointed by the food. While being cooked perfectly and having excellent texture with everything we ordered, we found the food and accompanying sauces to be incredibly bland in flavor. The Rahm Schnitzel (my entree) sauce just tasted like thick watery sauce with no seasonings added for what I was expecting and my mom said the bratwurst appetizer had no real flavor before the addition of the mustard sauce. Furthermore, the Blueberry Strudel clearly was made with canned blueberries, bleh. It should be noted the portions were large and would have certainly been fair the price had the food been more flavorful. We will be highly unlikely to return and would certainly not recommended Sebastian's with the current food quality and confusing price situation. read more

Very good food, very good customer service, very good ambiance. The jaeger schnitzel, bratwurst, potato soup, and desserts are incredible! The staff is very friendly and often give free samples and freebies on occasion in an effort to get folks to try new things. Definitely one of our "show off" restaurants when family comes into town! read more

This is my favorite German Restaurant in south Jersey!!! My absolute favorite is the buffet on Sunday you get a nice variety of food to choose from. I need to make another trip soon. The atmosphere is very welcoming and reminds me of Germany and German relatives homes. As for customer service is I could not ask for more. I wish I lived closer. read more

A nice gemutlich atmosphere and real German food, becoming more and more rate these days. The potato pancakes are close to those my late father-in-law made. Good red cabbage. I had eisbein which was delicious. I look forward to trying other selections. It's a BYOB so we brought some German beer. The portions were large enough for lunch the next day. read more

Sebastian's Schnitzel Haus is and will always be our favorite restaurant! How many times did we go out to dinner and came home unhappy because the food, staff or cleanliness of the place was awful ... well a lot, but not in the Schitzel Haus! Never did that happen in the Schnitzel Haus ... it's clean, has a great staff and the food is absolutely the best. read more

My second visit to the area from the UK and I came here last year and had to come again this year! I love this place I love the food I love the people a love the atmosphere! I had the breaded chicken with red cabbage and a German Noodle side with gravy. Oh my god tingle the tastebuds!!! Always filling good homely satisfying stick to your ribs good food as it should be! Thank you I will be back just like Arnold Swarzenegger said it!! read more

Came here looking for a good german shnitzel. Food is good but a bit over priced. Probably because there's no other german schnitzel house in this part of Jersey. But other then that the food taste good. Had the schnitzel platter with gravy and spetzel. Cooked perfectly and the gravy was ok. I like to think my version is just as good if not better. I make a pretty banging jeger and gypsy sauce... and who can't buy/make tendered meats, coat with Dejon mustard and bread crums...pan fry and vuala...schnitzel... if you go here for dinner be sure to make reservations. We waited for 20 minutes to be seated. The place is small with no waiting area. You pretty much block the entrance when waiting. We waited another 10 minutes to get a menu and then they never came to take our order....we had to call them over. It appears they cater to the large groups before everyone else. Not totally disappointed but I won't go out of my way to eat here. I would have gotten a photo of the food but it was too dark at our table in the corner with no light overhead....lol read more

Its always been a pleasure to eat here and the owner makes sure that customer service is a top priority. I have been here at least 2 dozen times during my stops at McGuire AFB and Fort Dix and the owner always remembered me and has prepared off the menu items. This food is very authentic and the Sunday brunch is definitely worth going to. Also the specials that have soup, entree and dessert are nicely put together with the dessert being top notch always. The owner also would give 10% off to military which is a nice gesture. They dont serve alcohol but do provide you a nice container filled with ice to keep your beer cold as well as bottle openers/corkers and the beer/wine glasses at no charge. The cost of a liquor license is pricey down there but luckily the owner accommodates BYOB. read more

I lived in Germany for three years. This place is about as authentic as you are going to get here in the U.S. However, I only give it three stars as there are items missing on the menu that are standard fare in Germany (Zegeuner schnitzel is one example)and the prices are a little high for what you get. They also don't serve alcohol. To me there is something wrong about not being able to wash down a German meal with a beer. I will eat here again though if I am in the area and in a mood for German food. read more

this restuarant is a disgrace to the german.culture. the ambience and the people greeting and serving you is a perfect cover up for the slop they serve. the lady appeared upset that i only ordered 2 ice waters and not a high price drink. they need to learn to cook for one thing. the food is all canned, frozen, potato are instant, hot rolls were a waste, stale and cold. canned gravy with vinegar added for sauerbraten beef. there is no professionalism in preparing a meal here. nothing here is authentic what so ever other than the clutter and leaving. i rated it a one star to inform you honestly. i would never venture anywhere near this place again. good luck if you claim this place to be great. wow, now go and find real german food. if you think i am too harsh on this place, then it is that the truth hurts. good luck read more

have been hankering for schnitzel since schnitzel & things food truck in ny (sad that their store closed). this place was delightful, ordered takeout, ready on time and packaged tightly. gentleman was so kind, gave me a sauce on the side and helpful recommendations for next time. neat little german candies/snacks in the front too. the schnitzel was perfect, with and without sauce! read more

I came in for lunch with four coworkers. Immediately upon entering, the mustachioed owner/manager greeted us with a hug. They all got jager schnitzel and I got stuffed chicken. One guy in the group tried to have chicken noodle soup as the side and was promptly admonished by the waitress for ordering something so basic. She brought a sample of potato soup and he was sold. The rest of us had goulash and it was great. With the meal came spaetzle and it was my first time having it. It was a bit bland but one of the group said that is normal, so whatever. I finished with German Chocolate cake which, apparently, in Germany has no coconut. I get that coconuts are not native to Germany but they could have been brought there by unladen African swallows if they were migratory. The cake was tasty minus the nasty Hershey's syrup drizzle. Overall, the place is great with a wonderful atmosphere and fun workers. read more

Went with two German speakers, one lived in Germany for over two years. This is s a roadhouse in Germany without a liquor license. My guest who had not lived in Germany took the menu to show to his local bier garten an example to follow. And they agreed to go. read more

Not had food like this since Germany. Perhaps training exercises at Ft. Dix really aren't so traumatic.....

Fantastic food and a charming, authentic German atmosphere. The wurst platter and polish platter are excellent, as is the goulash. You can't go wrong. read more

Who ever said " If it can't be shoved into an animal casing then a German can't cook it" never visited the Schnitzel Haus. I was seriously impressed with the variety of food and a lot of it didn't involve casings either. Soups were outstanding and I had the Schnitzel Platter (you know when in Rome......). It was three varieties pork, veal and chicken along with two sides which I chose Red Cabbage and Spaetzels. It was served with lemon and brown gravy and it instantly transported me to my mother-in-laws house as she was born and raised in Dresden. Yes there are all types of wursts and they are equally as good but I could not come close to finishing my plate. Desserts were spectacular as well and we took ours with us for later on. They also have every Sunday Brunch and every third Sunday I believe an all you can eat though I seriously can't imagine what that must be like..........I'll let you know though Worth the drive. read more

Being stationed in Germany years ago. I figured to give Sebastions a try. I ordered Jaeger schnitzel and a Hungarian ghoulash soup. Both were great! The food is authentic, great tasting and priced very well. The restaurant is clean, staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is genuine German. Going back for more dishes to try, next is stuffed cabbage. read more

Great food is only enhanced by the family feel and pictures everywhere. Try the Hungarian goulash soup. A hearty starter.

We went there for Sunday brunch. Pretty good selection, a couple things were good (smoked sausage and sauerkraut and the potato salad), but a lot of things were just average. The dessert quality was mediocre. Don't think I will go again. read more

We wanted to love Sebastian's, but the canned green beans and instant mashed potatoes made it impossible. It's busy on a Saturday night, but service is still good and the atmosphere is charming. The portions are generous, but food is somewhat lacking. read more

My family and I were on our way to have the delicious brunch at Sebastian's Schnitzelhaus today when I decided to go on Yelp. Much to my surprise I read a not to pleasant review. I got a bit nervous as I was bringing family members for the first time and all I do is rave on the place. I am happy to say the food has not changed. The food was fresh and plentiful. They even make potato dumplings on Sundays which are delicious. My husband always gets heartburn when eating at chain restaurants but not with Sebastian's. The food is as good as it was when we starting going there 15 years ago. And a funny note to DN the highest price drink is $2.00 which is not high priced in my eyes.....Give the restaurant a try you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

Great food, friendly service. I went in by myself and by the end of the meal I felt like family. Very well decorated and a home like environment. Food was delicious and they had a large variety of dishes. Sunday brunch was a bit pricey, buffet style, but I'll definitely be back. read more

My wife and I stopped in for lunch and we will not be back. I had the chicken soup and there was a bug in the soup. The waitress was very apologetic but when the owner, I don't know his name, asked us how everything was we mentioned the bug. He became very defensive and said that it must have just fallen into the bowl. No sorry or anything. When we were leaving my wife, who was born and raised in Bavaria, asked him what nationality he was all he would say is that he was German in his past life. He is clearly not German now. He must be ashamed of where he came from. My wife stated that Germans would be more apologetic about the situation and he told her that the German people are too picky. We both had the bratwurst. I had cold and over cooked French fries, they were hard and stuck together. My wife had sauerkraut which wasn't very good and Spaetzle which was cold. My wife is a very good cook and makes all of her German dishes from scratch. She uses receipts that were handed down for generations so we know what German food is suppose to be like and this is not it. read more

So great! Everything was well prepared and super tasty. The girl who waited on us was so sweet and we were not rushed at all. I had the breaded pork cutlet which was moist and not greasy. The potato pancakes are too die for. Again crispy without the grease. The Hungarian soup is wonderful with shredded beef and a perfectly spiced tomato base. I chose the German potato salad and red cabbage as my sides and they did not disappoint either. The desserts are also worth saving room for. The restaurant is a sixty mile round trip for me and I cannot wait to go back. So it is worth the trip. By the way the atmosphere is super crazy tacky but meticulously clean. read more

I was looking for somewhere different to take my husband for his birthday this week and found Sebastian's online. I'm so glad we went. The restaurant has old charm beauty--there is so much to see and the staff couldn't be friendlier. The food was authentic German, plentiful--we had enough leftovers for dinner the next night--and absolutely delicious. Their potato soup was amazing, but then so was everything else. The pricing was more than fair and if you bring a bottle of wine, they will give you ice to keep it chilled. I can't wait to bring my friends back, I know they will enjoy it as much as my husband and I did!! read more
