Finally made it back to the Happy Apple and we had a great time. I've been hearing people rave about the duck, so I decided to try it. Well it didn't disappoint, crispy, with a delicious glaze and a twice baked potato. The salad bar was perfect too! Our waitress was a doll and very funny. Would be nice if maybe they had some background music throughout the restaurant, but we all enjoyed our meals anyway. FYI the whisky bar is only open on Fridays and Saturdays and it looks cool. Prices are still on the higher side, so it's not a place I would go for a quick dinner.

Old school salad bar with quality offerings (very good)

I'm rounding up a half star for nostalgia mainly, food is about 3.5. My family has been coming here as long as I can remember. Years ago we had many holidays, special events and milestones at this quaint and cozy place. It's been about 10 years since I've been, but I'm happy to report that not much has changed. The old school salad bar is still there with all of the offerings I remember. They always had one of my fav versions of potato and macaroni salad, they are just as good as I remembered. Along with various pickled salads, beets, coleslaw, hot peppers, very good cottage cheese, iceberg salad with homemade croutons and salad dressings. If memory serves the bread is from Italian people's. The menu has changed a bit, my fav dish used to be the stuffed scallops, no longer listed. And their seafood stuffing that used to be loaded with crawfish is now likely just crab and filler. I tried the stuffed flounder thinking the old stuff would be there. It's still a good stuffing, but could be great with more crustacean abs less bread. The flounder was very good, nice size and fresh too. But a light sauce would have been nice, this was served completely dry. My dining companion chose the stuffed chicken, she liked it a lot. We both had the mashed potatoes, I would have preferred a baked or twice baked potato both of which are usually available. For some reason these were not ready when we ordered. The mashed appeared to be made from leftover baked taters, ok at best. I like that this business is kind to seniors, they offer a senior menu with same sized portions of their staple dishes for a few bucks less. If you are a senior you also used to get a veg side dish. Not sure if that's still a thing, honestly I used to be irked by this. But when I brought my dad I used to get some of his. One nice improvement is the addition of a patio overlooking the small pond or lake. It's not huge and does not take away from the view inside. I imagine it's a great place in the warmer months. Service was and always has been friendly and warm, just like the old timey decor. As long as I'm in this area and the Apple still exists I'll be returning from time to time, if I play my cards right I'll soon be eligible for those free veggie sides.

I visited Steakhouse 85 for the first time on Thursday, March 19th. We all know the food is fantastic, but what impressed me even more was the employees. When I walked in, I was greeted by the hostess, who had a big smile and bright eyes. She showed us to our table swiftly, and during our time there, her smile and warm welcome continued as she greeted other incoming diners. Our waiter appeared quickly with the first question would you like something to drink, water, etc. After the initial greeting, and now ready to take our order, he excitedly told us he had the pleasure of tasting most of the items he suggested. His excitement about the food he had the "pleasure of tasting" (his words) was apparent. Also, I had the pleasure of speaking to Monica, a manager at Steakhouse 85. She was kind, thoughtful, insightful, and well spoken. I could easily see why she holds that position and could have talked to her as I would a good friend. How a great manager like Monica gets those around them to react positively is by example; in other words, it's the ripple effect. It is easy to see that she is the type of person who, no matter what she does or where she goes in life, success will follow. Also, I want to say thank you to the owner and all the managers because hiring the right employees, from the cooks, busboys, and servers, is not an easy job in itself. The key to success is not just about the food; it's also the employees who add to the establishment's success! Great Job To All Of You! Kindness should never be taken for granted these days! Frances

Very elegant place with nice decor. Definitely a nice date night place. Had a reservation for dinner for 7 people and they were able to accommodate. This place has private rooms that would make for nice gatherings. The menu is not so expensive as you would think. I decided on the 16 ounce pork chip grilled med well. Just a little pink. I can say it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Sweet potatoes casserole who've was so good. Sweet but not even close to too sweet. The spinach was good and I did add some pepper to them. But tasty indeed. Our waiter was really good and attentive. We were one of the first to arrive as it was a early dinner at 4:30pm. But by 5:15 it was crowded and a wait if you had no reservations. Definitely a place I would come back to. I want to try the bone in ribeye steak 14 Oz. The birthday party was really God and this made av great place to enjoy it.

Our server, Willem, was attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu. The menu is quite different from our last visit in 2024 - better organized and easier to read. We atarted by ordering a Caesar salad and Tagliatelle Bolognese to share at the table as an appetizer - quite nice and a good start. Charlie and I both chose the Creekstone Ribeye ( I opted for the Horseradish Creme Fraiche) and our wives both chose the Crab Crusted Halibut. all entrees came out cooked to order and piping hot. We also shared an order of creamed spinach. No dessert as we were doing that at home, but the coffee hit the spot. JS is BYOB so don't forget to bring your wine. Defintely a destination restaurant, and we will be back!

I was especially looking forward to ordering the ribeye and lit up instantly when the server listed it as one of the specials. The server shared that he would need to collect the orders for all of our courses at the same time which was fine with me. I actually had more confidence in the timing of everything for that reason. Our server had a delightful energy particularly at the beginning of our visit. After we placed our orders, everything began to fall apart. It did get noticeably busy since we first arrived, but we ultimately waited for our main entrees for over 3 hours. 3 hours. The table ordered the charred octopus and the oysters to start. The oysters hit the table fairly quickly, but then we began to gradually notice how long it was taking for the octopus to come. I had only a slither of the octopus so that I could say I tried it. Everyone at the table raved about the taste. I did, however, agree that their oysters were delicious especially when dressed with a little bit of mignonette, lemon, horseradish and a touch of Tabasco sauce. I'm excited to now report that I am a fan of fresh oysters from the east coast, because apparently the coast matters. The table also ordered the canaletto stuffed with mascarpone, parmesan and another cheese, langostines and lobster with morel mushroom cream sauce, garnished with truffles. I passed on this one also as it was too adventurous for my taste buds; although, their delicious bread and our drinks did distract me for a little while. The restaurant is BYOB, so we had our wine to keep us company while we observed other tables come and go. We eventually asked to see the manager and was told there wasn't a manager on duty which was either untrue or a very poor decision on the part of the owners considering it was a Friday evening. Having someone occasionally check in with our table may have also helped to take the pressure off of the server who may have gotten overwhelmed or decided to prioritize other tables. Having a manager offer a personal apology may have helped us feel less forgotten about. After the three hour mark, we decided this was enough. I didn't have much to eat at this point, but I wasn't at all worried initially since I was there for the main event, the ribeye. I stopped a hostess who was walking past our table and asked for the manager. We were again told the manager is not here but can be called, if needed. I simply replied, "Please do". Shortly afterwards, I noticed our server who at this time was standing by the host stand briskly walk into the kitchen and then return to our table with our plates. I sent the food back which was a decision that was supported by everyone at the table. Let me tell you, that was a difficult decision to make, but I also was ready to call it a night. Our mood had changed, and I truly felt like we were derservant of having the same experience as everyone else that night. Our server apologized for his part to play in the ordeal which I appreciated since I know his intention was never malicious, but unfortunately we had to call this night a bust. He offered us dessert on the house, and our entire meal was comped which we felt was an appropriate resolution. I ordered the Cinnamon Toast Crunch bread pudding which was a favorite. Very good. Jasper Stone is a beautiful establishment with decorative yellow and white floral arrangements throughout the dining area. It is clearly a popular restaurant and has many positive reviews. I regret that I could not have a comparable experience.

Nestled in downtown Woodbridge NJ, this steakhouse is located inside of an old bank! I already knew before entering it was gonna be beautiful! We were greeted by the hostess and owner of the restaurant. They immediately said happy anniversary to us and escorted us upstairs to our table. As i thought this restaurant is stunning. Sexy dim lighting, beautiful chandelier and candelabras adorned the bigger tables. The space is huge. High ceilings and even an elevator. I couldnt resist snapping pics of the aged meat behind the glass. Every detail in this restaurant is intentional. Our waitress Danya was the sweetest!!!! She was so attentive and took time to explain the menu. She checked on us the entire evening. She didnt miss a beat. Even saw that my fork had some dishwashing spots and went to get me another. For the food, we started with fried calamari and crabcakes which were both outstanding! We ordered cocktails which was old fashioned and a bay breeze made perfectly. The main course is the reason u come here! We ordered the porterhouse for two with the truffle mac and Brussels sprouts. Steak has a really nice flavor! I didnt like the truffle mac but the brussel sprouts were delicious!! We were def full but our wonder waitress insisted on a celebratory ice cream with a sparkling candle. It was very nice! Before we left the owner came up to ask how everything was. He was a cool guy and told us a bit about the restaurant and his future expansion happening! I love that he said he use to come to the bank with his parents as a kid and now he owns a restaurant in the space....full circle moment. We truly enjoyed our time here! Thank u for making our Anniversary dinner so special. We will for sure be returning. I have to try the snapper next time!!!
