Well here we are 7 years later and it's basically the same review. With Seven people at the bar and the bartender is bullshiting with her friends at the back corner. Another empty glass for me. It's easy to check just look at the cameras like a good owner should. Now I know why we stopped coming here. It's a Sunday!!!!! I ordered the happy hour hot dogs with everything listed on the happy hour menu. Of course they forgot the onions. Service was great the bar had a good lived in old school feel. Definitely and older crowd. The food and beer was off to say the least. The beer was a little flat. It was an ipa so i get it sometimes those are hard to get right. The cheese steak had the cheese melted to the bread and not the meat. The meat felt like it was missing something. A throw back, a fun pub. Went to Alba's for a quick bite after visiting Lakehurst Joint Base - it's literally around the highway corner. It's a place with good pub food, friendly staff, reasonably priced food, and filled with locals including a senior crowd that seems to gather there to pass the night in a social atmosphere. Seems to have some form of entertainment nightly. I will definitely visit again if I am in the area. I had the fish and chips which were very good and crispy. My son had their burger and boy did it look huge and delicious (which he said it was)! All the plates served around me looked tempting and delicious, served relatively fast and by a staff that seemed seasoned, team-like, and knowledgeable. Good find. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a cold, dreary day and were not disappointed. Chelsea was our server and she was personable and efficient. Carol had the Grilled Cheese with House Made Potato Chips while I chose the South of the Border Burger with Fries. Yesterday afternoon I went to Aldi's to have a lunch with some older seniors and I was really shocked at what was going on first of all the hostess/waitress was very crude. She had no idea who I was and I said something about Willie and the first thing she said is, he'll never be here again because he canceled. You'll never see him here again. OK now we go to a table. What do you wanna drink? Well we don't really know yet and I know what I want cause I was drinking a Diet Coke what do you want and my brother-in-law who is 85 years old wanted to have a beer did not look around he was looking at the menu and he didn't see it in there so then she saw it. It was on on the board and he wanted Samuel Adams something I'm not a beer person. I don't have that. What do you want so he said Guinness at the same time my sister said yeah I'll have Guinness too. Oh, you too and then it took them time to get there order obviously they wanted to see the menu what they want. Finally we gave our orders in now. I'm gonna tell you something I have gone through Kelly's most of my life so when I go for Ruben, I know what a Ruben is supposed to be like your corned beef was so stringy. It was truly disgusting. I ate the fries. My sister had a burger that was so dry. That half of it went home and it went right in the garbage. It seems to be the only thing that was good was the pizza that my brother-in-law had Was nice enough to share people. I'm gonna tell you one of the people that were with us was handicapped did she even try to help us with that and doubt not really? I will tell you right now. Nice spot that I decided to take my mom and my uncle to for lunch on Mother's Day. Place has been recently remodeled, but still has an old school look. My mom and uncle had one of the eight ounce specialty burgers, while I had the chicken sandwich, and wee all enjoyed our meals. Fast service, which was also very friendly. Bar seating is open again which is great for me. Only downside seems to be that they don't seem to have a steak on the menu and no entree's. Mostly a sandwich and pizza restaurant. Maybe there is a separate menu for dinner as we came early for lunch? For three people, which included four alcohol beverages and the bill only came to $63.00. Not bad at all, and the Kane 16oz. drafts were great! I would def. come here again! Just really hope I can get a steak sometime. read more

I wish I could say that this was a wonderful review of Alba's. I was there yesterday with some seniors and the waitress hostess whatever was very crude. First of all we had a senior who was handicapped they had to take their time to get their stuff together do you want something to drink you want something to drink but let's go back when we first came in never know who's gonna come in through your door. I am a friend from Willie Lynch for almost 45 years and I'm telling everybody else yes was here and I know that Tuesday night he canceled and this woman he'll never be here again he just canceled and then she put us to the table came to the table. What do you wanna drink? It was like we were imposing her. Some people took a little bit more time of what they wanted. Don't you know what you want yet? What beer do you want? OK eventually our food came. One person had pizza and I would probably That was the only one that was good. I had a Reuben and I will tell you all stringy My sister's hamburger was so dry she ate maybe half of it took it home and put it in the garbage, this was more than $100 and I will tell you right now when I got home I my best friend on the phone and she said to me you this on yelp because of everything that you're telling me what was going on in the restaurant so I don't think I'm ever gonna go there again but you never know who's coming in that door, so don't be so crude Dismiss seniors because guess what you are in an area of seniors yes you're next to a base and I'm sure a lot of business there and I know at night you get a lot of business but remember seniors also help especially waitresses and hostesses with chips. Welcoming, lively, & friendly atmosphere. Great 'band nights'. I had the obligatory bacon/cheddar/burger. But wow! The beef was very generous, tasty, and cooked perfectly. A side of fries was tender and moist inside, with a light crisp outside. No limp fries here! The side of lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and delicious - not the 'thrown-on-a-plate because' - that is usually expected. Enjoyed the food, band, patrons, and the efficient bar and wait staff. Service was great! They have two different menu books circulating... Glad mine was the one with more items on it . I ordered the Caribbean Jerk Burger which had a mango ingredient as its sauce. It was delightful but they could honestly go more with the Jerk seasoning! The fries were cut from fresh potatoes and perfectly salted; lastly it included a small serving of coleslaw. The garlic parmesian wings I had were saucy (not powdered) and could have used more garlic taste to it, but otherwise they were made to perfection! I had the Mermaid Water (cocktail) which was perfect for my sweet tooth - all the alcohol involved was worth the $8 for it! I would suggest this place to friends and we're looking forward to Karaoke Thursday (8-11pm)! read more

Unfortunately after an evening at Alba's for dinner the other night I can not give a higher rating. My friends & I stopped for a bite & a beer. With the help of the hostess we managed to grab a couple of seats at the bar. I thought that was nice she was trying to help us. It took a bit to get the attention of one of the bartenders for a drink & menu. Two females with dark hair totally ignored us. As we were headed someplace else we didn't have a lot of time. Finally a very personable & attentive female barkeep with brown hair came over & took our orders. There are a couple of craft beers on tap which I always appreciate but nothing about this place excited me. The food I did see coming out did not look like anything special. On a Saturday in May, they did not have any servers working at lunch. We went at about 2:30. The bartender had to wait on the entire bar and all of the tables. She tried her best, but there was just no way to truly give good service to our table. Drinks could not be filled, our table was not checked on, once we had food and we waited about 15 mins for her to first take our drink order. Our food was good. The music was way too loud, with random music being played from the CD jukebook. This all could have been better, if the owner or manager staffed correctly and was present to realize about the music and check on guests of their establishment. When it comes to deciding where to go out to eat, it will be hard to remember this place as an option, due to our last experience. read more

This is our go to place on Friday nights. They always have a live band and they are always pretty good. I've had a few meals there and by far my husband's favorite is the Black and Blue Burger. My daughter liked the Chicken Marsala and I am partial to their bar pies. They are perfectly made, crispy thin crust, good amount of cheese. Our favorite bartender Heather knows our drinks and how we like them. She is fun and works the bar like a pro. She always makes room for us at the bar no matter what time we get there, even if the bar is packed. It's a local bar with locals that you are all the time. It's an older crowd with my husband and I like. We do t have to deal with 20 somethings around the bar. Ownership is very nice and we always get a hug and greeted the minute we walk in. It's a great local place with a good vibe. Decent food and there are always local bands or activities going on to keep things interesting. Once in a while I'll get a barkeep who can't make a good martini, but that's OK. There's dancing and everyone's in a great mood. Bathrooms (at least the women's) are decent and stocked. read more

I have mostly come here during the week, between 3-4pm for lunch or a drink with some friends. The staff is friendly and willing to answer any questions about the menu or bar. I have never been here during the weekend, which is usually when a restaurant is at peak hours, and at it's busiest. Its pretty quiet when I've been here, so service has been great. Their burgers are generous and delicious, and drinks reasonably priced. I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area. read more
