Answered my question about fencing on top of rockeries. Didn't have Engineer on staff but referred me elsewhere

Initially this company was hired through a managing contractor to rebuild my retaining wall. Harry and his workers, especially Benjamin, were very easy to work with. I chose his bid although it was higher than another one because his ideas made more sense for a better long lasting product that's very important to a house. Building a new fence seemed a better option than rebuilding the old one. Everything was done beyond my expectations, a slight problem with the fence was quickly repaired. Because he did such a great job, I decided on my own to hire him directly without bothering with other bids due to working with him as well as the quality of his work. He really wants to be proud of the final product for his customers and his sense of workmanship and integrity. This time he put pavers instead of cement along the side of my house, an area outside my basement, several steps alongside two gardens for veggies or flowers as I eventually will decide. Then on the top of this is another area for pavers and a walkway to my side door. Added some mulch around some trees to prepare for plants when I find time to finish this lovely backyard. There's still a decent amount of grass remaining and I plan to have his company finish to the side and front of my house later this year. Highly recommend! read more

I guess a lot of people who have had a contractor working for their houses, would say, " Yes, been there, done that!" That was also how I felt when our roof got fixed. We couldn't sleep in our bedroom with a big hole above for three months, because the contractor had another bigger job... When I was looking for a contractor for our yard work, I told myself I needed a reliable contractor for the yard project. The first time Harry came over, I specially asked him if he would leave our yard project during the construction and move to another one. He said, "No, I only work on one project until it's done." He is a honest businessman, he did what he promised. The yard project only took 3 weeks. Harry and his team came over every weekdays, and worked so hard. If you hire Seattle Rockeries for home projects, you wouldn't go through what the comedian said. Harry is very good at details. Whenever there was a question, he would talk to us and confirm what we wanted. They rebuilt the retailing wall and the fence of our front yard, and paved the yard. They did exactly what we asked. It was a jungle yard and now it is a beautiful garden. We love it so much, including our cat who loves exploring there more than before. Harry and his crew did a great job building the retaining wall using Redi-Rock blocks. There were 2 slopes and so it wasn't an easy job and required fussy dressing of the enormous blocks. They also build a rock terracing wall and also did a fabulous job on that, taking care to protect the enormous and City-designated exceptional tree. There was a a problem with one of the sub-contractors, and Harry handled it professionally and satisfactorily. Harry came out and gave us an estimate on a Friday. It was very reasonable and competitive. The next Thursday they began construction. They built a 44 foot retaining wall a set of set beautiful rock stairs and another 39 foot retaining wall. Lastly and most wonderfully they put in a 12 x 9 slate patio. The team was courteous and professional. Harry was great to work with, he did several alteration from the original bid with no extra charges. I even enjoyed their company. This was constructed on a steep slope so he was using some pretty big rocks. I was specifically looking for a natural stone rockery and his was the only company that didn't try to talk me into stacked manufactured stone. His crew was excellent and he got to work right away and finished the project a day early. (How often does that happen?). His crew was hard working and very tidy. I was prepared to run into issues and uncertainty given prior experience with other companies, especially with covid, however this was seamless. The work started when scheduled and there was clear communication leading up to the start date. I had a design in mind and worked details out with Harry, collaborating to come up with the plan. The day the work was to start, I had a number of changes I wanted to make which impacted materials and labor. Harry had a great attitude about this, understanding that we both wanted to end up with an end product we'd be happy with. The adjustments now accounted for, and after walking through with the crew, the work kicked off. The entire crew were adhering to covid protocols, were accommodating to the neighbors with access (our house is at the corner of a private road with multiple neighbors), and easy to work with. The communication between myself, Harry, Ben and crew was key as a number of decisions have to be made during a job like this. They were landscaping my entire property (two tier block wall, rockery wall, stairs, pavers, custom fence), really a complete transformation of the entire footprint. Got a quote for $2600 plus tax to secure a rock that slid from my rockery divider. Harry said that $2600 was a deal due to whats going on now, meaning Covid I'm assuming. He said regular price would be around $3200 or somewhere around that price-can't remember the exact number he gave me. The quote to me was unbelievable because it was only 1 rock. I contacted Seattle rockeries to get a handle of how much effort and resources will it take to remove the 25yr old retaining wall (wood) and get a new sturdy one build. Harry (owner) stopped by and walked me through various options I have and cost associated with each option. Seattle Rockeries was very professional and easy to communicate with. They submitted their estimate the night after we met in person to discuss the job. There were no surprises and although they arrived a little later than they originally said, the kept us up to date via text (which was my preferred method of communication) about arrival time. But what was most impressive was their obvious expertise. They completed a full demolition of our fence (approximately 25 ft) and old falling apart retaining wall and installed a new one approximately 4ft high made with large mostly "2-man" rocks in only 3 hours with a few guys, several trucks of material and one rock grabbing tool. It was really neat to watch! The 3 guys clearly work well as a team and communicate well--they were very careful to protect the plants in the surrounding area that I cared about as well as the side walk and other public spaces.
