Jay D.

We are so fortunate to have worked with Paul and his crew. We had him out to assess a failing retaining wall and they were able to begin and complete the process within the estimated time frame. Throughout the process he and his crew were very professional and respectful. We felt like they treated our project as if it was for their own property. One of our gates had to be removed for access and they were able to rebuild it as good as new. Some of the yard was a bit torn up as a result of the machinery but Paul offered to add top soil and even spread the grass seed and peat moss I had on hand! We had neighbors walk by and compliment on how great it looked while they were still completing it. I would absolutely recommend Paul and wouldn't hesitate to use him again for future projects.

After- deck

We had a great experience with Paul and his crew! Everything went so well with our large deck and retaining wall project. Attached are some before and after pics. Overall 5/5 stars: - Prompt and thorough communication - Paul is a wealth of knowledge and had great recs and thoughts that other contractors we quoted did not bring up - Project was completed within the original estimated timeline - Original price estimate was what we paid - Paul was on-site each day, and him/his crew were reliably here every day they said they would be - At the end of each work day, Paul ran through a recap of everything they did and what the next steps were - At the very end of the project, they were very thoughtful about leaving things better than they found it without us having to ask (reseeding our front lawn, resetting landscaping bricks, etc.) Highly recommend!

Paul and his team at A-1 Stone landscaping are top notch professionals. We had crackled leaning retaining wall and he came up with a plan and executed. His communication was on point, his team was friendly and worked carefully around our yard. I knew right from meeting with paul for our estimate that he was honest, trustworthy and the right company to go with and he did not disappoint. Thank you!

Our new deck!

Paul and his crew are true professionals. I believe that we were given the best price for the work he did and he was 100% willing to go above and beyond. He hauled away extra trash we had and took out extra bushes in our backyard. He completely rebuilt our deck and it only took about 5 days to complete! The deck was beyond our expectations and he even came out a couple of times to check on us and answer any follow-up questions. If you have any landscaping work that you need done, you should give Paul a call. He will come out quickly and give you an estimate. All estimates are emailed to you in a timely manner and he is always willing to adjust things to better fit your needs! A-1 Stone deserves an A+

Optima did a great job replacing my old fence. I really appreciated their no-pressure approach…read moreduring their quote and how they walked me through the material options. They easily handled the hilly terrain in my yard and recommended the approach to accommodate it. Some fo the old fence posts were installed inside anchoring sleeve tubes designed to prevent damage to the retaining wall anchoring grids buried under the soil, Optima delivered an outstanding, stress-free fence installation and carefully replace the old fence posts installed in these sleeves. I was relieved. Froms start to finish the process was impeccable: Their team communicated clearly and professionally, the crew was very punctual (and thoughful) every day, they cleaned the site every day. They finished the fence installation ahead of schedule. The workmanship and materials are top notch (I am a senior and have seen multiple fence installations in my past). Billing was online, with no pressures. The crew cleaned the site at the end very thoroughly. I checked my garden and especially my driveway to make sure there where no nails nor debris were left behind that could damage my car or pets- nothing! I am very happy with their work so far. The crew will come back in the next 1-2 weeks to stain the fence on both sides. Their pricing was competitive (second lowest). I chose them because of their reviews/reputation and their BBB A/A+ rating. I would definitely hire them again.

There were a few areas where I didn't want plants disturbed and they totally honored that. The price was very fair and I'm so glad I hired them for my job. Our assigned estimator Kimball came by for the initial walk through on July 3rd. We walked the property and I pointed out areas that we wanted cleared and bark added to suppress new growth. He left us with a video of him walking the property and shortly thereafter we had an estimate. My wife and I reviewed it, and wanted to see what it would cost to add landscaping fabric and rocks to some of the areas on the initial estimate. I responded to Kimball and he asked for a Google image of the home with the areas we wanted the work done marked. I then sent him the requested materials via a color coded aerial image. Kimball then asked to come out for a second look to make sure his measurements were correct. I was unable to accompany him for that walk, but he did do the checkup. We had a second open ended estimate shortly thereafter showing what the added rocks and fabric would run per square yard. We then decided on just doing bark (simplest install) - no landscaping fabric or rocks, but in all of the same areas marked on the aerial photo. To be doubly safe, I sent him a second aerial photo marking where we wanted the bark. Kimball's final estimate included a breakdown of what 4 yards, 6 yards, 8 yards or 10 yards bark would cost to procure and install. He told me that they would start at 6 yards with our property per his assessment, and if more were needed, they would request the additional amount day of the job. 7/25/26. The day of the job. Lee's arrived, I walked the grounds with the foreman and they got to work. Late in the day, I got a call from Kimball saying that the 6 cubic yards of bark he'd ordered wasn't enough to cover everything and that they needed another 2 cubic yards to the tune of several hundred dollars to complete all areas we wanted covered. I agreed to the up charge and Lee's crew completed the job. About 10 days went by, and our very nice looking yard started to sprout weeds all over the place. Naturally, I was expecting to see obvious weed growth here and there pop up, but this seemed like a lot. Regardless, I got to work pulling the weeds every 3-4 days or so, added some more bagged bark I purchased from Carpenitos here and there, and as I tackled each section of the yard on various days. Then, they exploded. By the 6th week, we were overrun and I couldn't keep up. I did some checking, and found that for successful weed suppression, you need at least 3-4 inches of bark coverage to prevent light from reaching the newly cleared topsoil. Lee's quote stated they they lay down "at least 2-3 inches" of bark - not the gold standard 3-4 inches, but fairly adequate. So, I got out there with a yardstick and started measuring. Low and behold, most of the front and back yard had as little as 1/2 an inch to 1.5 inches bark coverage. The areas I'd hit with bags as I weeded were barely pushing 2 inches, which means they too were initially VERY thin. I then photo'd the explosion of overgrowth and sent it to Lee's general email with a concerned message attached. Kimball replied to the message, but he refused to acknowledge any error had been made on his part or Lees in terms of the estimated coverage vs. completed work. Ultimately, he refused to remedy the situation without charging us thousands of dollars more. We went back and forth multiple times via email, and he would not budge - not even to cover labor only to rake back, and remove the overgrowth. He also refused to connect me to a senior manager or owner - eg: a 3rd party in the company whom could objectively review the situation, stating that he was a manager and partial owner and in charge of our estimate. We were charged over $3200.00 after tax for the job. It will likely cost us thousands of additional dollars to remedy the overgrowth resultant of Lee's error, and for which they refuse to acknowledge or accept responsibility. I'm personally kinda shocked considering their reputation and long standing place in the community. We used their services for lawn mowing and occasional yard work in Seattle many years ago without issue. My how times have changed.

Most contractors (in my experience) don't have the drive to ensure everything is perfect and how the customer wants/expects it to be. Jacob assured us the plants would be avoided as best as possible, and went over what should be moved or tied back to help ensure they were protected. There was a little delay with the posts we went with and Jacob communicated wonderfully about this, and worked to get us in immediately once the posts were finished with the fabricator. Cristian led the work crew and was an excellent communicator throughout. We ran into a couple of underground wires that were not properly marked by the marking company, he was extremely remorseful and one of the guys ran out to get parts immediately to put in a temporary fix. Again, this was not their fault, yet they took responsibility. The team worked hard for several days, always communicating what was happening. They were respectful, and not loud (except for power tools as needed). The project made a bit of a mess, I was a little worried about clean up, but Cristian assured me they would be doing a full clean up once the project concluded. They did such a great job cleaning up!
