We had an awesome experience with Nelson Concrete and 4 Sons. They communicated well with us, met all deadlines they said they would. Polite, easy to work with and their work was as good as the pictures showed. We would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for concrete/landscaping work. Beautiful outcome. I hired NELSON CONCRETE to install an RV pad. We discussed the job and the timeframe. We agreed on a price. The team showed up late. They said 9 or 10 in the morning. It was 1:00 when they showed up. They did get their prep done before concrete showed up around 3:00. They ended up short on concrete. I suggested an option. They used my option. They worked late into the day to get the job done. The work was not very good. It appears the concrete started hardening before they were done. It looks terrible in some places. Rough surfaces in places. Some of the small joint corners are not filled. The cost was comparable to many other bids. He's got a great sales video of happy customers. I'm just not one of those. I'm not recommending NELSON CONCRETE. read more

I would describe the last 9 weeks as nothing short of a horrific nightmare experience at the hands of 4 Sons Concrete and Landscaping, also known as Nelson's Concrete Mason Design. Learn from us, don't trust or hire this company and the owner. Safe yourself the pain, money and extra money you'll need to fix their "work". Nelson Tatufu bid it as "three week job." We called them off the job on week 9 and with ZERO confidence in them to do any work or make any repairs without causing more problems and/or damage. The below is only a small representation of the issues we are now facing. Bids to fix all the damage that was done is currently at 10k and counting to our yard, house and brand new fence. Concrete -Concrete was poorly poured, lines are not straight and sloppy "patches" that don't match were poured to cover up previous mistakes. -House, fence, driveway and yard are splattered with concrete. -Concrete ramp connecting to sidewalk is too steep. -Dog run areas - which should look the same - have different gap spacings. Decking -Do not believe them when they say they can build anything for you. They can't do concrete, let alone a building project. -Deck was poorly measured and did not line-up with our request. It is wider than we asked for and that resulted in contractor sawing a hole in a window box that should have never been touched to accommodate the railing. The cut was so sloppy that it exposed the interior of our walls. -Mr. Tatufu's crew re-used old boards that had been used previously as concrete forms as the supporting structure for our new deck. -Support beams and stair stringer were not pressure treated wood so they would never last in wet, Seattle weather. Plus, they were already cracked with chunks of wood falling off them. -The deck boards were damaged with numerous misplaced and removed screws. -The deck boards did not feel firm under the feet because they had not been properly secured to the base. Also, the base wasn't secure. -Loose sections of railings have already fallen off the deck. Very dangerous situation! -New railings are scratched and damaged do the crew leaving them out, and throwing them around for weeks. -Railings along both deck and stairs are loose with missing bolts and very unsafe. -Railings on stairs are not lined up with each other and one side is longer than the other resulting in a loose handrail that is unsafe. -Countless, uneven, jagged, saw cuts on deck enclosure. Other Issues -Removed a fruit tree without our permission just so they could park their truck. -House siding was damaged with tape residue, screws and staples. Screws and staples are still covering the fence and house siding. House will need to be repainted. -Fence gates were removed and re-installed not in-line with the fence. -Fence sections were removed and left leaning against walls resulting in fence board bending and looking awful. -Gate latch re-installed upside-down after removal. -Post cap missing from fence post. -Contractor dismantled outdoor tortoise enclosure area without permission and are lucky to have not killed the tortoise. -Constantly late and frequent cancellations even after asking us to block off street parking for multiple days in a row. -Artificial turf is not properly secured in many areas, and the cuts are almost comical how horrible they are. -Kept asking for more money beyond the initial agreement. -Caused more damage and issues every time their crew came to "fix" past issues. -Complete lack of care taken with our house and yard. The mess is unimaginable. -Nelson brought his children multiple days to the job site, and they were here well past 10pm and asked to use our house multiple times for water, bathroom breaks. They could be found laying in the yard among the mess of the job site. Completely unsafe and a huge liability. Heard enough? Get a load of the photos, it is what nightmares are made of. read more

Please DO NOT hire Nelson and his guys to do any concrete work. We had an $11k driveway and entryway poured and it turned out awful. He has terrible communication and frankly lies directly to you. I will attach pictures of our "finished" driveway because the pictures speak for themselves. The white discoloration is permanent, they ruined our front door with sealer, did not pay any attention to details. An awful experience. We paid another contractor to come and fix the things Nelson didn't do properly. Very disappointed that someone can take that much money from us and not give an amazing product in return. read more

They did not complete the job. I have emailed Nelson 4 times in the last 3 months asking that they come remove the forms from pouring a patio and driveway and he always says they will be by in the next few days. They have yet to come by. The stamped patio in the backyard was stamped so poorly they should be embarrassed. I have given him more than enough chances to fix the issues before writing a review, but now it's time to let everyone know what kind of business they run. Stay away! read more

One of the most unprofessional companies we've ever worked with. Not only unprofessional they were clearly in over their head with the job. They were hired to replace two sets of concrete stairs and sidewalks. They demo'd everything, including the surrounding lawn, and gardens due to their careless work, then disappeared for over a week leaving us no safe exit from our house. When they did return and started framing up everything was crooked and had to be redone, three times. They started building out one of the stairs and it was visually uneven, the stairs weren't even the same size and they didn't go deep enough for it to be safe. After re-doing that, it still wasn't solid, but it was a bit better. They finally started pouring. The crew that did the back stairs clearly knew what they were doing - they look great, and all of the stairs are the same size, etc. What you would expect. Unfortunately, the front stairs, the huge staircase that faces the street, is uneven, terrible discolored skim work, all of the stairs are different sizes (ranging from 14"-16"), columns were crooked, caps were wavy, sloppy. Asked them to fix at least the skim work and they did not. The concrete is at least two different colors and as it dried it began cracking immediately. So nearly two months later, a project that was supposed to take two weeks, we still had months of work to repair their damage. Over the course of this they drove their heavy dump truck over our existing driveway destroying a quarter of it along with our destroyed front yard. They did bring in some top soil, but didn't even complete their clean up. By the time they were done, we were out the entire cost of the project, nearly 2k in gardening materials to put our yard back together, it'll cost thousands to repair the driveway and we still had to spend another 3k with another stucco/concrete company to attempt a fix at the stairs they built. That is all on top of 60+hrs in labor to repair the damages. Do NOT work with this company. read more

Driveway done in 2019, Cracked within first year and by 3 years had a 6 foot sinkhole/depression. took no responsiblity and wants to charge me to fix. Contacted Better Business Bureau and they didnt even respond to emails from the BBB. Be cautious with this company. read more

we hired Nelson for backyard patio, pathway and the drive way back in May 2019. He broke the cable line while tearing the driveway when we were away on Memorial long weekend. The internet company advised on the damage of the cable due to the work on drive way and request us to bear the underground pipe. Upon attempting to contact Nelson regarding to fix this problem, he didn't reply to my voice message and only said that he will take care of it in text message and kept asking for money to order the concrete work. He said that he will do everything when the cement was poured. However, on the day of the concrete pour, his workers were sent first and they didn't know about laying the pipe down for the cable nor the work that was discussed to be done. When Nelson finally showed up around noon, he asked me to give him the check and rushed to cash out the money. During the breaking of the old cement work in my backyard, there was no protections on my sliding glass door nor window. I had to thank God that the flying pieces didn't shatter my glasses or windows. The cement splash on my sidings, newly installed garage door and my water hose was left without attempting to clean up by the workers. When contacting Nelson for the follow up work including smoothing out the uneven level between the old concrete to the new concrete by the front entrance and a broken piece on the new path way, he had not shown up many times throughout the Summer that he promised to show up to fix. He did not show up nor did he send a message letting us know that he wouldn't be able to make it every since June to September. I had sent message to ask him to come and finished up the work this week. He first told me to come on Tuesday, then sent message on Tuesday afternoon that it rained too hard. I asked him to come on Thursday or Friday. He replied by on Thursday morning that he would come on Friday at 9am and get it done. It's Friday at 12:40pm and I had left him many text messages and voice mail to ask him for show up time and still got no reply. This is not acceptable business practice to keep cancelling and leaving me waiting for a whole day without anyone showing up. read more

This "contractor" took a down payment and then failed to do the work specified in the contract.

I rarely write review, but I feel if I don't write this one, they are going to hurt more people. My advice to you is never hire them. If yelp allows half or no start, I would select that instead. Very bad people to deal with. Nelson and his crew seem nice and hard working at first working for my neighbor's driveway. So, we hired them to redo our driveway late June, 2018 and that is when all the trouble started. They were so rush on the job that they ordered the concrete pulling truck to come before all preparation work are done correctly. When I told them to make sure all the preparations were done properly before they could pull the concrete, they told me to pay addition since no concrete would be available of week of July 4th and they are professionals. My new driveway started to discolor with big orange spots here and there about 3 weeks after they left. I called them, and they never came to take a look at it or fix it. When my driveway started to crack and concretes started to peel off in some spots about a month after that, I called them again. They never came and not answering any of my calls afterwards. They have done so bad of job that my driveway has concrete peelings everywhere including the ones that next to the concrete joints. They have done so bad of the job that when other concrete people came by to see if they can fix it just tell us to redo the whole thing. Now, I can see why all the pictures on their website are stuff that are just finish. read more

I hired Nelson Concrete Mason Design last summer to tear out my old driveway and walkways and install new ones. I paid extra for them to create patterns in the walkways, and stain parts of the driveway and walkways. I also paid extra to have rebar put in under the driveway to reinforce it. First off, they left equipment here for weeks after they were done, including a huge dumptruck on our small residential street. In my yard they left a couple of wheelbarrows and some other tools. By then time they finally responded to my calls to clean out their stuff, the stain on the driveway had already become to come off where the cars had driven on it. AT my request, they touched up the stain, but it's continued coming off as cars come in and out of the driveway. Although they did remove their tools, they left a big pile of mixed concrete waste/leftovers in my backyard. And I am beginning to seriously doubt they installed the rebar, as after less than one year, I already have a crack appearing in my driveway. Although at first glance my driveway and walkways look nice, and are certainly an improvement over the disaster it was before, these guys did a sloppy job, didn't clean up after themselves, and they cost me a LOT of money (over $9000 total). Do yourself a favor, and find another contractor if you need concrete work done. read more

I was looking to have a concrete pad installed. I contacted 3 contractors including Nelson. 1 was a no-bid, 1 gave a somewhat high quote over the phone, and Nelson gave a good price after coming to look at the job site. He and his crew showed up on time, did a great job with the pad, and left the area around the jobsite clean. I'd definitely use them again. read more

We hired Neslon Feb 27th to do 3 patios with steps in Roman slate with a different a colored border .We put a third of the payment down $3,500. He was due to come back March 4th so we can pick out colors and style and go over details -he never showed . Two of his crew showed that day to put up what they call forms. He ignored calls and text for a week when he finally did reply back he said he had a family emergency, then after that it was he is very sick so there goes another week . They dropped concrete over a weeks span no word from Nelson himself or reply . Someone came out for about 2 hours and put concrete into the large form and used our dirt to top it off. Then 2 weeks goes by this puts us into April we signed a contract in Feb. He replies back finally says April 2nd they will be out to finish forms and setting everything up and we will pour April 6,or 7th . April 2nd 2 guys show up at 330pm spent about a hour shoveling dirt around and then more time on thier phones and left . Tuesday 6th goes by no one shows or calls and here we are april 7th and my fiance text at 730am let's him no we are not going to move forward as it's been 5 and half weeks and 2 days of worth of work has been done . Nelson replied they were on thier way to come finish forms and setting and plan to pour at 1pm today . How are you going to pour if we never picked the colors out ? The forms had been sitting and bending for 5 weeks washington weather and all ? We asked for a refund will pay for time spent out here and happy to go over all 4 security cameras and total up the hours of labor with Nelson. His reply was we owed him another$ 2,500 . We put down $3,500 . So two days of work and some concrete/wood is worth $5,000? When people decide to lie about being sick you should remember technology now days . Im sure when whwn we file our complaint they are gonna be annoyed with all of my attachments. Now we are out money because he scammed us and now our wedding gets pushed back again not due to covid this time but due to our lack of judgment and taking a man on his word . DUE REASEARCH PEOPLE. I needed my drive way removed and replaced, along with the walkway to the house. Nelson Concrete was quick to respond to my request for estimates, professional in the estimate process and was able to begin the project right away. They answered all my questions quickly and had was quick to understand my primary needs (aesthetics and ensuring water drained in the correct path). During the job, they were attentive and kept me informed along the way. They left the job site clean and did a good job at not disrupting other landscaping in the process. I love the final appearance, coloring, and stamping! It has yet to rain to determine whether their assurance that water will drain the correct direction is true, and if it does not I'm confident that they will work with me on resolution. I'm 99% happy with the job and the 1% is small area that may need some touchup and they have committed to fixing any concerns until I'm 100% satisfied. Nelson Concrete has been true to their word thus far and I believe they work with integrity and will keep their word. I would recommend them to anyone needing concrete work done. read more

Nelson and his team were great! They preformed a full tear out and replacement of our driveway, walkway, and entry stairs. All which was completed in a 12 hour day! We are awaiting for the dried results at this time......but are thrilled with the results thus far. Would definitely hire Nelson again, for our next concrete project. read more

Had our garage and driveway removed and replaced by Nelson in May 2015, did a good job and on time as promised but the problem we encounter was after the work was done. After few weeks we noticed that water stayed in one little low area in the driveway and some crack appeared on the cement as well. We called Nelson regarding this and he said these are easy to fix and he promised to come back to repair them. Almost a year had passed and to this date we never heard back from him, we made several calls and left messages but he either gives us excuses or reasons why he can't make it back on the day he told us he would. Not a man of his word and I wouldn't recommend this company to do your project. read more

Nelson Concrete unfortunately poured our stamped concrete patio this summer. We have multiple, visible footprints in the patio, a poorly done stamped finish and poor staining with visible roller marks. There are also "humps" in two places. The patio's slope is severe and looks like a ramp. It is 2" greater than what was discussed. It also slopes horizontally 1.5" where there should not be any slope at all. There are many other concerns and we are now being ignored by the company in our request for a refund, other than a few initial text messages that never acknowledged the refund - very unprofessional. Do not use! read more

Nelson and his team completed a very large and complex job extending our driveway. It was approximately 1500 sq ft and 6 inches thick. The pitch was a bit odd in a few places and they were able to level it out so it drains well and looks really good. We also had existing lines they had to match and they did a great job with that. The job took them only 3 days. The crew was very polite and friendly. They left the job site really clean. Would recommend them and hire again in the future. read more
