What an incredibly frustrating experience. After nearly a month of getting deck quotes and changing specifications to what I wanted, I just got an email from Damon Gibson (owner) saying that he prefers to not do business with me. I got his original quote on 5/1/2026, the day after he came out to my house. He was very good about sending it right away. The other deck company quotes didn't come so fast. After finally getting several quotes on porch floor replacement/small deck extension, I decided to go with Gibson. I wanted to upgrade to ipe and emailed him last Friday. On the following Monday, his assistant Emilee told me was out of the office until Wednesday. On Wednesday, heard back from Damon with cost of upgrading to ipe. Great!. But to reduce costs, I ask to do my own demo and disposal, and get rid of a hatch to a crawl space. On Thursday, I received a new email from Emily with a new quote. Naturally I assumed it was to reflect what Damon and I discussed. But when I opened it, it still reflected the old quote with mahagony, not ipe. She then kept resending the same old quote, about 5 times and I kept telling her it's the old one. I then told her to get some rest and try again the next day. Now it's Friday, and I get the same old quote again. WTF? I tell Emilee to get on board with Daman. Then I get an email from Damon blaming me for all this miscommunication and that he is walking away from this job. I am a 64 year old woman who's just been blamed for his and his assistant's own incompetence. Don't hire this guy. Since bragging to me about the big Pike Place Market job he got, his head is getting a bit too big. How dare you blame this miscommunication on me and then ghost me? He can do this since he has business out to 3 months - he doesn't need your business. There are lots of deck companies out there. Do your due diligence folks, and don't hire this guy. read more

I just got a request to review Gibson but I was never able to actually get them out to quote my deck. We had an appointment and they contacted me a few minutes after they were supposed to arrive saying they were sorry they completely forgot. I asked to reschedule which we did for the following Wednesday. Then I got a text saying that they forgot they had another appointment and weren't going to be able to come. There was no offer or attempt to reschedule again. read more

Design: Mr. Gibson and I agreed upon a fence design (like my neighbor's which he viewed in person) he quoted that. Following the tear out of my old fence the on site manager (Matt) then told me the price for the design I wanted went by 40% despite not requiring any more materials nor labor but now up 40%. They refused to build what was agreed upon. Tear down old fence/clean up: workers did not remove portion of the old fence project, actually throwing some in my neighbor's yard Construction; shoddy: double gated fence latch did not properly engage, I had to re-install latch in order to get gate to close. . Double gate was (is still) not even on top or bottom: off by 1.5". Several corners of fence are not enclosed; did not wrap corners leaving large open space between the boards. Deck work started but never completed. All problems were pointed out to Mgr. I was told all would be remedied when they returned after holidays. They have never come back or returned telephone calls/messages. Be smart, do not use this company; if you do, hold back 50% of all money until they come through with promised project and complete clean up. I got screwed read more

We hired Gibson to install a rain ceiling under our second-story deck to waterproof our patio, and they did a fantastic job. The work was quick, efficient, and very clean, with seamless gutter and downspout integration. They cleaned up every day and communicated clearly throughout the project. I've worked with Gibson Fence and Deck twice now. The first was to repair a section of fence that blew down due to post rot. They were professional, fast, and their work was excellent. A month later a different section of the fence blew down for the same reason, so my neighbor and I decided to replace the entire fence line. Again, they were professional, completed the work quickly, and the craftsmanship was excellent. The post on pole design should keep this fence sturdy, and without rot for a lifetime, and they did a great lattice cut on the bottom to make sure the boards wont touch the soil. I would definitely recommend them for your home fence projects, and I'll be looking to hire them again to build a privacy fence soon. read more

Gibson just built a wood and wire grid fence surrounding our front yard that looks beautiful and made to last. We're so glad we went with them. We're completely happy with the quality of the work and the aesthetic results. We had some special requests to keep our small dogs contained in the space and to work around/remove some of the landscaping. They came up with creative solutions that seamlessly gave us what we needed. From start to finish, the crew was super responsive and easy to communicate with. (And, via email!) We had checked around for bids from a few different companies. Gibson's bid was competitive with local prices. We went with them because we appreciated the thoughtful consultation and wanted to keep the business in the neighborhood. It just felt like a good fit. A bonus was that they had an unexpected opening and were able to start the job immediately. They started to put the fence up right after we accepted their bid.
