I'm trying to get an annual oil change the same day as a doctor's appointment in Edmonds next week. (I live in Bainbridge). Forget it! First available appt for an annual oil change is Nov 30 (22 days to wait!). Back to Fife. I can get in next Wednesday--5 days wait. Mini, schmini--this is my first and LAST. I sent an email, got a prompt reply, and a couple emails and one short phone call later I had a test drive appointment for that afternoon. The car was ready for me at the scheduled time, I got my questions answered and we took a couple spins around the block. No heavy sales pressure, nothing weird. They are firm on price, but nothing unacceptable. We haggled a bit, found a number we both liked and did some paperwork. There is the standard "I've got to check with my manager" stuff, but it's brief and painless. The entire process, from walking in to driving home in my new car, took less than 3 hours. Done and done. About a month ago I bought my mini. It is so amazing and fun to drive! If looking for a sporty, economical car, test drive a mini, you will probably fall in love with it, I did. MINI is a niche in the market themselves, and you can see the difference inside the building. Jay was easy to work with from the beginning. Seattle MINI is the best!!! They have always been my go-to for services and repairs on my MINI because they consistently do such a good job and they always fit me in despite short notice. When my window got broken into, I had the most difficult time working with my insurance and Safelite. So, I decided to reach out to Seattle MINI. They were quick to provide a quote and schedule me in for service, when Safelite couldn't. Jennie kept me updated throughout the whole process and my repair was even finished earlier than I anticipated! People tend to avoid going to car dealerships for services and repairs because they have a reputation for overcharging and finding extra work they can charge you for, but I can definitely say that is not the case with Seattle MINI. read more

I've had mostly good service and experience at the Seattle Mini dealership. I've certainly not had nearly the problems I used to have at the Fife one. Recently I purchased a new Mini, and it went pretty smoothly. I don't have any complaints about that. I didn't feel aggressively upsold on any features or services that we didn't need. I was given a good choice of cars, and picked one in the mid range of what I wanted, without feeling pressured to get the more high-end ones. On the other hand, out of all of the experiences I've had with my Mini being serviced, I've had one bad one (out of a handfull) where they forgot to turn my car out of service testing mode, and my wife drove off in it with the engine cooling system turned off. She could have gotten injured due to that! I'm only going to knock one star off for that, since it was just one mistake, and the Fife dealership has made multiple ones in my dealing with them, but if another mistake like that ever happens, I'll be pretty seriously angry. read more

I went with my Mom to pick up her new MiniS that she ordered and there was a communication issue and some of the mods were not installed on the car after we were assured that they would be. Additionally, they were not included in the original price quoted because they were not installed by the factory. I just purchased my second Mini from Seattle Mini. I had the absolute best experience working with Jay Hammon. I worked with Jay a majority of the time via email. He was so attentive and always emailed me back within 5-10 minutes. He provided a lot of options to fit my budget and get me the model I wanted. He listened and didn't try to sway me one way or the other, based on what they had in stock. He let me make my decision slowly and carefully without ever being intrusive or pushy. I have been the proud owner of a gorgeous silver white 2011 MCS for three years now and thought it was time to review my many experiences with Seattle MINI- although I RARELY post reviews anywhere. I originally went to Seattle MINI to view a lovely convertible MCS I had been drooling over on their site. Much to my disappointment, the sales manager had just recently purchased the car for his wife...lucky gal! That's when Chuck Hill introduced me to my Koop (yes, she has a name). He did a fabulous job of orienting me to all the wonderful uniqueness she had to offer. With no pressure. Still disappointed that I missed out on the convertible, I decided to take some time to think about it. Returned a few days later and purchased Koop. Chuck made the purchase process painless, gave me a thorough owner's orientation and I was motoring in no time. I have been back to Seattle MINI many times over the past three years....scheduled maintenance, factory recalls and a couple of warranty repairs. The majority of my visits were managed by Raychel Gainey. Auto maintenance and repairs are always inconvenient, but Raychel made each experience as pleasant and swift as possible. They take the time necessary to fully understand owner concerns and car symptoms, provide a loaner (which is invaluable in my line of work), provide updates throughout the process and fully explain work done. Barring unforeseen complications, the work has generally been completed within the timeframe originally communicated. I just picked Koop up today after her first out of warranty repair. Yellow engine light was on, some loss of power, overheated in rush hour freeway traffic and the tranny felt like it was slipping. She was also due for her regularly scheduled maintenance. I was a wreck. You hear a lot of horror stories about out of warranty dealer repairs and I was anticipating the worst. Jonathan Buckley cared for Koop and I this time. Just like Raychel, he carefully listened to my concerns, explained what the process would look like - but more importantly, he recognized my anxiety and did everything he could to ease my mind. I was without my car for five days....five days! Only a true MINI enthusiast knows how long five days really is, even with a loaner! Scheduled maintenance was completed. A variety of repairs were made, some of which were charged to me and some were covered by the manufacturer. Jon provided me with updates along the way, answered all of my ridiculous questions, was patient, kind and supportive throughout. And he was right....my over-reactive fear that I needed a new engine and transmission were unfounded. And the final bill was thousands of dollars less than I feared. Koop and I drove off into the sunshine.....she purring along like her previous powerful, bad self and me grinning like a complete fool. I do love my car! It seems like an appropriate time to thank Chuck for introducing us and Raychel, Jon and the entire Seattle MINI team for taking such good care of both of us. I did not buy a Mini, but my decision had nothing to do with the dealership. If I were to buy a car based on customer service then I would have bought like five Mini Coopers! As soon as I went in to the dealership I was acknowledged and welcomed and my two young boys weren't treated like they were lepers who weren't allowed to touch anything. I was given a crash course in Minis from a sales rep who was very straight with me about what options I could or could not have and which might be easier for me with my toddlers. Jay Hammon was not pushy at all when giving me his opinion on why I would be happy in a Mini and didn't give me the "well I am a car salesman so I know better than you" attitude. Overall he and his finance guy, Damon, were a bright spot in my car shopping journey. Is it strange to say they made me feel better about car salesmen? I'm still hoping to go back and follow through with getting a Mini, the service I got there not even being a Mini owner was great so I can only imagine how much better it would be if I did buy from them!! read more

I bought a 2015 Cooper and was told that it was looked over and in great condition. It turned out to have 2 broken front control arms and 2 bad rear struts. An obvious issue when you go over any bump - which i hadn't during my test drive. I told the service desk that they sold it to me that way and his response was a shrug of the shoulders and a quiet "Yeah." That was it. Not even a suggestion that he would bring it to anyone's attention so things like this don't happen to future customers. That is why I'm telling all of you. Perhaps buy a new car from them (my purchasing experience was good), but get a used car looked over by someone else before purchasing. read more

The Seattle Mini team is as fun and quirky as the Mini itself. Wow, what a variety of experiences listed here! I thought I'd share my experience with Seattle Mini because I felt it was stellar. I won't post unless I'm extraordinarily impressed or seriously offended and Seattle Mini impressed me greatly. I felt like a Queen for the few days I spent with them. I purchased a new Mini this month and the experience was hands down the best car buying experience I have had, ever. Throughout this deal I had interactions with 8 of their team members from sales, administrative, management and service departments and the interactions with me were seamless. They were all polite, respectful and FUN with me and with each other. I've been back to have a bike rack installed, was prepared to wait (really, you wait everywhere you go now days) and the work was quality and within the time frame they quoted. I was greeted by several members of their team each time I went into the building, immediately offered refreshments and shown where the restrooms, waiting area and creature comforts were. I was acknowledged by any team member that I walked by. I asked hard questions and was given honest answers. The team spent a couple of hours with me going over the details of the car, offering resources for further research and making sure I was comfortable. I was exposed to a difficult situation while at the dealership and felt the team handled it very professionally and reasonably and both customers left happy and with new cars. So, this is the standard I will hold them to and will expect consistently throughout my Mini ownership years Yelpers. Perhaps the customer does hold a great amount of power when a business makes changes or adjustments to meet the customers needs when we share our experiences on public forums. I think Mini rose to the occasion, took the feedback and improved their performance. read more

I purchased a 2010 Mini Cooper Convertible in November 2009 at Seattle Mini. The past 4 months, I have brought in my car 3-4 times as the inside convertible cover that covers the inside wires has been falling off. I also brought it in for the first time in September 2010 as that is when the problem started. Yesterday I came in as it was falling off again (however I believe we figured out the problem for the time being:)). The reason I am writing this is to say what a huge help JP and Sasha have been through this situation. It has been a very frustrating experience and not only have they been extremely helpful through this situation, they have been kind, sympathetic, and solution based. I received a reminder call that my annual maintenance is due but then when I brought my car in this morning at the scheduled time. The front desk people told me my car isn't due for annual maintenance till November. I received no sincere apologies except a casual "Sorry about the confusion". I am here at Seattle MINI even as I write this review. I've had my 2005 S serviced at both locations and feel that I've been dealt with fairly at both locations. Pretty sure you all know they are owned by the same company, right? Anyway, service at a dealership will ALWAYS be more expensive than that done someplace aftermarket. Just the way it is. That said, I bring my MINI here for major services, do regular oil changes at aftermarket garages, not those LOF places!, and come to the dealership for big things like the Clutch (about $400 more than non-dealer) and head gasket (warranty). Love my Mini. The service department - not so much. The last couple of times that I came in, they have been just cranky. We purchased every extra protection package under the sun when we bought our Mini there, but I'm always getting into a debate with them as to whether certain things are covered, when I was just serviced for the same thing a few visits ago. AND when I call to make the service appointment, the person on the phone says it's covered. They go back to Finance to confirm and surprise! It's covered. Ugh, frustrating. Prior to these last couple of visits, I was always assigned to this British guy who worked there, but not sure if he is still there (can't remember his name). He was the only person thus far in the service department who was nice and gave great customer service. I would give them 1 star, except that we bought our Mini from Chuvit, who is awesome. We placed a custom order and he was in constant communication with us about the status. So +1 because of Chuvit. read more

I purchased a mini since 2014 and the service team had done a good job till this year. In March during annual maintenance, I reported a problem of weird noise when I roll down the side window, and the service guy said they would order the parts and call me back. Yet a few months passed and I never received a call. So I finally called them back in August, and asked about the parts. The Service guy said they ordered it in March and sent the parts back, but they can reorder it now and I can schedule an appointment for the following week. Then I was like 'okay', although I am slightly frustrated that I never got a call when the parts first arrived. So then this service guy transferred me to the scheduling lady, and the lady said she need to know which parts I am ordering, and I told her I don't know the exact parts name. Then she put me on hold and called the parts department, and she came back and asked me "are you calling Seattle Mini?" I was speechless with this reply, and confirmed yes, then she told me that there is no parts ordered under my name!! This is so frustrating! After being on the call for 20 minutes and get nothing done efficiently, I got very frustrated. I hope the service team and scheduling call center can coordinate their work better, and I definitely see where they can improve. read more

Not only do they communicate what is needed with your MINI the entire way through the process, we have been offered a loaner MINI every time we bring our car in for service. There was no pressure, just mounds of information and questions answered. While in the dealership, we felt as if we were their number one customers and they took every opportunity to make the experience quick and pleasant. Like a lot of users here, I'm extremely impressed with the sales department of Seattle Mini. I did a lot of research on this dealership before scheduling a test drive and was pleased to see they lived up to the good reviews here. I wound up hanging out with Armon Johnson while I picked out my S. He was very laid back and let my wife and I take turns test driving a couple of different configurations without any pressure to make a decision or up-sell us. I say "hang out with" rather than "work with" Armon because it really was that relaxed of a process. Thanks Armon! I'll compare all future car sales men to you. When it came time to talk price we quickly agreed on what I thought was a great deal and I got good value for my old commuter car trade in to boot. I came back on Armon's day off to sign the paper work and take delivery. Again I "hung out" with Jay Hammon who answered all my final questions, made sure Armon hadn't missed any education on operation (he hadn't) and got me in and out in a reasonable amount of time. A quick shout out to Damon who ran my loan and registration paperwork. He actually found me a better rate than I got from my Credit Union. I had to worst day possible and Seattle Mini saved the day. I am from Portland and wanted to take a day trip up to Seattle to show off my 2010 mini that I just purchased a week prior. Needless to say I broke down on the side of the freeway. I had it towed to Seattle Mini. I was told previously that they wouldn't be able to look at it till Monday.(crap I'm 200 miles from home) From there it was the most amazing customer service experience that I have ever dealt with. Realized my situation, got it diagnosed, repaired and out the door before they closed. I have consistently received great service from the staff at Seattle Mini. They have been kind and courteous; plus they have a comfortable waiting room with a coffee machine, snacks, and soda. When I have waited for routine service, they provide progress updates. They provided a loaner (nicer than my current vehicle) twice when I had service that required a longer period of time. I have been happy with my MiniCooper since I purchased it. There are a few promises that were made that didn't happen. When I bought it, I was promised a loaner whenever I had to come in for a service. I fought for that a few times but if I didn't need it, I didn't fight. On Friday afternoon, my car was towed to MiniCooper. Brandon called. Since it wasn't a # I recognized, I didn't answer. (I do have MIniCooper in my address book.) There was a message saying that he called about my car and that it was there. I called on Saturday morning. Brandon wasn't there so I asked to speak with someone else about a diagnostic. I left a voice mail and didn't receive a call back. Apparently you're stuck with whomever no matter what. I didn't hear from Brandon on Monday morning so I called at noon. He hung up on me and when I called back, he enumerated the things wrong with my car. I asked him when the work would be finished. He said, "They were just waiting for authorization." Had I not called, I would still be wondering. I find this surprising and rude. This is my only car. I have had to rely on others for rides. read more
