I attended a very large conference here in January 2025 with around 6000 fellow attendees and was impressed with how well the convention center handled this size of a group! The center is massive at 988,422 square feet of meeting/exhibit space so I never felt like I was drowning in a crowd and had plenty of space to move and breathe lol! And the vibes were sort retro modern style - hard to explain but it was interesting and had a nice feel to it. The center has two buildings - Arch & Summit. Arch is 6 stories tall with a main public space/lobby that has a four-story atrium and even has its own restaurants, shops, and public artwork! There are plenty of escalators and elevators, and lots of tall windows with excellent views of downtown and the Puget sound all around you. The Summit building is across the street and seemed quite a bit smaller with only like 2-3 floors, much smaller meeting spaces, and no main atrium/lobby. But it was still adequate and very clean and well maintained. All the rooms and halls were well numbered and there are many maps throughout the building so I never had any issues finding the events and lectures I wanted to attend. Plenty of staff were available to help with all the tech and AV equipment and there were rarely any issues during the 4 days of talks and events I attended - which is quite impressive given the size of the conference and the amount of events/lectures they had scheduled. The entire convention center was surprisingly very clean - and there are ample bathrooms in strategic locations on all floors - and all very well attended and maintained also. The center itself is in an excellent location surrounded by nice hotels and so many food options - convenient for exploring some of the main tourist spots in Seattle too as it sits on Pike Street and is a nice walk down to Seattle's famous Pike Market. I'd recommend this venue to any group - but especially for large scale conferences - and would happily attend events here in the future. read more

The Seattle Convention center is a great event venue. I attended a large conference here and was impressed by the space. It is modern, clean, and can accommodate thousands. The staff were wonderful and worked hard to ensure we had a good experience. There were lots of rooms and plenty of bathrooms. I've been to a few convention centers across different states and have to say this is the nicest one. I really like how it is all inclusive and has so many options for food and coffee shops, and it even has a FedEx and post office for printing and shipping. This is particularly convenient, especially when you're attending a conference and have limited time. I ate at The Market and enjoyed a nice salad with a bag of chips and bottle of tea. The convention center is huge and has escalators taking you to the 3 floors. It's brightly lit with lots of natural lighting and is beautiful! read more

Popular gathering space for people with common interests and goals. It's a place where you can build connections and make friends. The Seattle Convention Center, originally called the Washington State Convention Center, has a campus of 2 buildings: Arch and Summit. I've visited both buildings and both are impressive and unique in their own ways. It's pretty fun experiencing all the energy that goes on during major events like PAX West and Emerald City Comic Con. Arch. It's the original building and still has charm. The main entrance is on 7th & Pike. They're pretty organized and well staffed. Lots of local art. Sign up for a tour. The first floor has a visitor info desk led by the Visit Seattle team. They have a bunch of free tourist pamphlets available. Summit. It's the most recently built extension of the convention center. Achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Certification, the highest rating from the US Green Building Council. You can gain access to their public space with "Mowitch Man" welcoming you on the corner of 9th & Pine and "Creator" welcoming you on Olive Way and 9th. Beyond the public space you will need to go through security to access the different floors. Art is located in their public spaces as well as their secured areas. Building tours are available here too. Highly recommend it if you're into architecture and design. After your events at the Convention Center you can visit Capitol Hill by walking up Pike or Pine, take the #11 or 49 bus, or hop on the light rail. Check out Cal Anderson Park and walk around Broadway. Visit the Pike Place Market Overlook and see the largest mural in North America, The Urban Ecosystem Restoration mural. Take the monorail to Seattle Center and see a laser show or watch people play in the fountain. Take the light rail to Chinatown-International district and get bubble tea, sushi, or dim sum and play pinball. Visit the Waterfront and take pictures of Elliott Bay. Hop on the Waterfront Shuttle for free and ride along Alaskan Way. If you're in town for a couple days or attending a weekend event, there are many hotels around the Convention Center. My favorite downtown hotels are part of the Hyatt collection (Regency Seattle, Grand Hyatt, and Olive 8) and the Sheraton. It's all about location, location, location, baby! read more

Visited for Sakura-Con 2023 and loved seeing the new summit building. More modern and much more spacious for panels. It isnt too far from this building to the previous main Arch building. One issue I had were lines for bigger events. Not sure if its the convention center's fault or the organizer of Sakura-con's fault but baggage checks would take longer than the whole event itself so if youre not way ahead of schedule, you would spend your time waiting than enjoying the event itself. The buildings still require vaccinations and masks. If youre roaming the building you can take your mask off. But if youre in one of the rooms, a mask is required. Overall, i enjoyed my time. Cant wait for Sakura-con next year! read more

I was here in early August for a large conference and the meeting rooms were clean, comfortable and the A/V equipment worked well which are the key elements for any conference! There were a few areas (6th floor) where the restroom facilities didn't seem large enough given the size of the meeting rooms nearby and lines were very long between sessions. The convention center staff were friendly and helpful. The art exhibits on the lower floors were a nice touch and it was great to spend some time there between sessions. Heads up if you are walking here and your navigation app tries to send you through the adjacent Freeway Park. I wouldn't recommend walking through here alone even during the day, and not at all after hours. It's a short walk to go around the block on the main streets. read more

I went to the Planted Expo event here on April 20th with my friend. The convention center is located right off I-5 which is nice. The parking options seem mostly like payed garage or street parking, and my friend and I ended up paying for parking in a nearby garage. I wish the convention center had more signs for the event, but we ended up following other people to get there. It was a nice space and we enjoyed trying some new food and businesses! read more

One of the better convention centers in the US: the location is great right next to downtown Seattle. They are in the process of expanding it but it's already pretty big, lot of art and spacious rooms, divided up enough to provide variety. Some of the space is very green and feels like natural habitats, the staff is efficient but not overly annoying. Easy walk to many great neighborhoods, not many good restaurants inside but many all around, short walk to the public market. read more

I came here for the Northwest Flower & Garden Festival and really enjoyed this space. The convention hall was spacious and well carpeted, and the lobby areas were very airy, bright, and beautiful with large windows and many plants and seating areas around. There were also plenty of hand sanitizing stands and trash bins. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were several food and drink stands on the convention floor as well, so getting a quick drink was convenient and I didn't have to leave the show area. At this time, they seem to be checking for masks and vaccination cards before allowing people up the escalator, and checking again at the doors to the halls. read more

We were at this venue for Emerald City Comic-Con and it's a beautiful building with lots of great conference rooms and in a perfect part of town with plenty of restaurant options to handle the hungry nerd crowd. Parking was easy to find though rather expensive due to the area. Also a warning to anyone with larger cars, the ceiling is really low (my sister could touch it with her fingertips) so make sure and check your vehicle height. I like the location because it's right by several downtown Seattle restaurants for you to snack at throughout the day and it was delightful to see Pokemon, DnD, and random superheros strolling down the streets of Seattle in search for a burger. There are plenty of restrooms on all the floors that even with as many people as were there for Comic-Con, I never had much of a wait. The conference rooms all had nice acoustics and screens so I could both hear and see my dear Wil Wheaton.. Live long and prosper ya'll. If you were early enough to snag one, the chairs were quiet comfy as well. Very clean venue and I love all the windows allowing in so much natural lighting. They also succeed at refreshing the surroundings with some live foliage that grows in planters throughout the venue. Great venue made even better by the influx of nerdy people and merchandise that had taken over WSCC. read more

It was very organized and they had some shops and eateries on the other side that were good. It was a great experience and my little loved all the stairs, escalators, room to run around. This is a pretty huge convention center in the middle of Downtown Seattle. We were shocked to see how big it truly was. It's not your typical one or two room hall and was quite vast. We traveled to Seattle specifically for the Flower & Garden Festival 2019 and it seemed to go on forever. I believe a total of 6 different areas and we walked miles each day in there. We stayed a mere two blocks away, which was convenient. A little shady to walk through a park to get there and on the advice of a hotel employee, we only did that during daylight hours. The Convention Center was adequately stocked with overpriced junk food and beverages and restrooms throughout. Nice coffee shops and cafes around the entrance mall type area leading up to our convention. I don't know what other types of shows, festivals or what have you go on there, but it was a nice venue and we look forward to going back year after year! read more

I was here for a three-day conference. I thought they did a great job giving out group different spaces throughout the building, and the staff was wonderful. There are a lot of nearby hotels, and it's close to the tourist attractions of Seattle, such as Pike Place. It does get a little crazy and crowded on the escalators read more

I don't normally leave reviews but my experience here was awful. I've been at the convention center two times prior for a teacher conference. I had great experiences both of those times. But yesterday when I visited, I was met with a very inconsiderate parking garage employee. I was walking around the convention center for about 10 minutes before realizing that I was at the wrong Seattle convention center location. I came to realize that my event was actually at the summit location. I realize this was my mistake. I decided to go back to the garage to drive to the correct location. It was a 6 minute walk but I was already late and it was too late at night for me to feel safe walking around Seattle alone. I remembered seeing a worker at the garage entrance, so I had confidence that she would understand my mistake and let me leave without paying or at the very least charge me less than full price. I was wrong. She wouldn't let me leave without paying full price. Yes, I can afford $9 for parking, but in the past, employees have been more understand and considerate and would have just let me go without any fuss. I was only there for about 15 minutes wandering the EXTREMELY large convention center trying to find where I needed to be. As you can imagine, it was very stressful. I was late to my event and paid double for parking. It was an overall HORRIBLE experience. I realize some factors were fault of my own, but with all things considered, most employees would have treated me with a little more compassion and empathy. read more

I'm a vendor at various events at the Seattle Convention Center and they've joined the trend of becoming incredibly greedy; nickel and diming their vendors for fees and creating new rules to force the vendors to pay exorbitant prices for their services such as access to power, banning battery banks so the vendors have to pay well over a hundred dollars for access to a power outlet. It's greedy, predatory, and actively hurts the vendors that are the backbone of their events. read more

I've been here for a few times for events, and overall, it's a positive experience. The best part of the Washington State Convention Center is its prime location, easily accessible to bus stops nearby and the Westlake Station in downtown Seattle. It's also right off I-5, making it easy to drive to, with a parking garage available. Space has six levels with escalators and elevators and bathrooms on every floor. Although it seems like a huge space for events, the Convention Center is currently under construction for an expansion, allowing more large events to occur here. On the ground level is retail, shops, eateries and public restrooms and tables for dining. Staff are very friendly and are happy to navigate event attendees where to go, especially since multiple events occur here on the same day. Security also seems to be present during events on multiple floors. Overall, it's a good venue space and believe that with its expansion, it'll be an even more attractive option for events. This place is deceptively large when you come in from the outside. It just sort of 'appears' in downtown, which is nice that it's so centrally located. I agree with others that it is a bit confusing to get from floor to floor sometimes-some escalators only go to certain floors, some elevators only go to certain floors, etc. There was signage to help, but it sometimes was hard to see around crowds. The rooms were nice, and there's lots of windows to let in light. There's lots of restaurants nearby which is good too. Overall, it's a decent space. read more

I have spent my fair time in many different convention centers for my job and I can say this place is a really great venue. From the perfect location in downtown Seattle, close to all the main tourist attractions (Pike Market) Lot's of hotels, restaurants and stores in walking distance. Also inside the convention center are lot's of shops and places to grab a coffee. The exhibit hall where are show was located all the way up on the fourth floor, all the escalators were well labeled and in full working order. The hall itself was large, always clean... great use of space. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Wifi was reliable with no issues the entire time we were there. Lot's of workers helping to direct people where their event is. Lot's of concession stands scattered in our exhibit hall (surprisingly good food and affordable) There is a fedex in the convention center, always a big plus for making life easier when working. read more

Visited the convention center to attend 2018 NORTHWEST FLOWER & GARDEN FESTIVAL. Pleasantly surprised with how well they manage such an enormous crowd. Staff are very proffesional, friendly and helpful. The large number of windows brighten the place up. Unlike many centers, this one was not chilly. They have a handle on temperature control so I didn't have to dress in layers. They have people to direct you where you need to go. Their Wifi was efficient and stable. It is much larger than it appears from the outside. Plenty of shops on the first floor. Retail open to anyone who cares to walk inside. Beautiful architecture. Convention center is almost in the heart of downtown Seattle, and is only a few blocks away from almost anything. Right next door is Gameworks which is worth a visit if you Like arcades. Looking forward to future events here. Deffinitely a good venue if you are going to see the annual 2018 NORTHWEST FLOWER & GARDEN FESTIVAL. The premises were clean and the bathrooms were plentiful. Massive is one word to describe this place. Love the escalator banks here. They seem to go on forever! Super structure with just a lot of square footage. A great place to hold any convention. Well lit, organized and clean. Close proximity to the Sheraton Hotel just across the street from it. I mean you cross the street and you're at the Sheraton's Daily Grill Bar. Good times right after :) There's a Starbucks inside the center. No worries about the limited choces of where to dine inside the building itself. Its quite nice inside with multiple floors. It reminds me of the Vancouver Conventional Center somewhat. There are lot of events that are being held here. Its a nice architecture with lots of windows which makes this place very bright in the daytime with all the natural sun light. As well the location is awesome. Its in the center of the tourist location area. The building is huge with covering arch joining the two building is impressive. Parking is expensive here due to its location. This was my first time going to the Convention Center. Once you get parked, you follow the color coded trails to wherever you're supposed to be going. It's nice that they have people situated all over the place to direct you where you're supposed to go when there is an event. I'm glad I had a 50% Livingsocial coupon to go to the Chocolate Festival. Long story short, it was well worth the $15. I got chocolate wasted (no intention for copyright infringement). And the convention center is really well kept too. Almost like a hotel. read more

I knew I had been to this convention center in the late 1990s but I didn't recognize it at first...until I saw those escalators and I had my a-ha! moment. It's an interesting space in that it is almost vertical rather than the horizontal sprawl you see at most convention centers. The rooms were mostly comfortable with none too freezing or too hot. The bane of conference goers everywhere. Signage was good. The escalators are necessary; I never did see where the stairs or elevator might be. There were staff/security people around and it was convenient to have businesses in the convention center, like food, coffee, and the mailer place. read more

I'm here often it seems. Between work and fun conventions I spend a lot of time at this convention center. The layout is ok. It can be a bit confusing getting between the various area's of the convention center. The elevator's and escalators need a tune up. They kept failing all weekend long during Comic Con. Probably the worst part of this place is the security guards. They are rude and uncooperative. My group was in a side area of the con and we had to be there before 10 to get set up. All weekend long I had to explain this to people and got snarky responses. On top of that since we where there until 11 pm I got locked out once and had to argue my way back in. Unfortunately in Seattle there is little option for folks that want a large convention. I would say there is a great business opportunity out there for someone if they can find staff that understand customer service and communication. read more

Wonderfully laid out space. There were multiple escalators, stairs, places to eat spread about, an enticing garden outside that continued inside. Skylights and windows kept the atriums lit and inviting. The staircase on the 4th floor atrium was artfully decorated. Such a nice, smooth flow, I was truly happy to visit here for the Emerald City Comic Con. Location? Right downtown, near enough to the waterfront, just a few blocks from Pike's Market Place, a skybridge leading to the Tech Center, and easy enough ways to leave one area of the Dealers Room to avoid the crowds and make it to the next destination (usually a speaker or event in another area). Many ways into and out of each large-spaced area. I am really impressed. read more

We went to the convention center to seek out information on how to get to Snoqualmie Falls because our planned transportation fell through, no rental cars available and the options we saw on line weren't available in the time frame we had. The two people at the tourist desk were fantastic! They took their time to search out options, made a few phone calls and helped us get where we wanted to go. Nice nature decor all over the center. There are plenty of recycle, compost, and trash bins around with clear labels on them. Exhibiting here exposes you to pure extortion. The union rules say we can't move our stuff, and we were charged $8,000 (that's right, no exaggeration, eight thousand dollars) to move some monitors about 75 feet. That's after we had to re-configure our whole booth to not need to use tools to put it together (another union rule). Remember, Seattle, when companies like us refuse to ever come back and do business here, it's because you extorted us. We are happy to pay fair rates for good work that we need done. $8,000 for one guy to move monitors 75 feet has zero connection to reality. Avoid this place. read more

It's a beautiful convention center with multiple floors. There is a cascade of escalators which is kind of cool. The main conference lobby is on the 4th floor. There are large windows with an outdoor garden. It's quite beautiful. There is a large exhibit hall on this floor. Most of our sessions were on the 6th floor, which requires yet another set of escalators. There are some food options both on the ground floor as well as the 4th floor. I spent the better part of my last week in and around the Washington State Convention Center. I went for AWP, a massive conference where every single person is an anxious tweeting writer. It was an exhausting trip, and I had almost no down time to enjoy Seattle. I hung out a lot at hotel bars, even though I was staying on my friends' couch. I definitely ate too many meals on convention center grounds. The conference was very large and very well organized, and the convention center was a good venue, able to accommodate 15,000 wandering writers. The building was spacious and felt brand new, and the facilities were quite nice. There were huge rooms for the book fair, where I did shifts behind one of the thousand tables. I attended readings by Chang-Rae Lee and Tobias Wolff in giant ballrooms. I'll end this paragraph now because I'm running out of words that mean "fucking big." I was tied to conference grounds by a combination of duties and weather, so I ended up taking two meals and an afternoon drink on campus. I'm glad I've been to Seattle like five times in the last few years, because otherwise I would've felt pretty deprived. On day one I paid $4 for two Diet Cokes and $8.50 for a chicken teriyaki bowl at the little convenience store/cafeteria in the book fair. Day two I went for Subway, which was at least priced like a normal Subway. Day three my friend's booth was giving out dim sum and I had one dumpling for lunch, then went for a drink at a rest area in the convention center. My friend treated me to an $8.50 bottle of IPA bottle that could not possibly have been refrigerated. In any case, I had a good time at AWP. It was by far the biggest conference I've ever attended, and the convention center was an appropriate venue. I was tired of the place by the end there, but three days of immersion in a sea of writers could have felt a lot more like drowning. read more

I think there were 14 billion people in line for the Emerald City Comic Con(maybe more, I lost count) The line snaked from the upper level garden down to the 4th floor concourse. The staff was incredibly efficient and courteous. I've never been to a bad event here and I've never seen anything but excellence from the hard working staff. Kudos! read more

My very First Comic-Con, got a free pass so, why not? First, the venue is super cool, the atrium looks and feels like a world from Star Trek (when Kirk was captain), a quiet solace amongst a gathering of citizens of outer realm civilizations. The booth and autograph areas well organized and plenty of space to move about. Parking is abundant in their lot or just up the hill on the street. Unfortunately, I don't know any of the "in" games or comics anymore. Sadly, I have not the faintest clue of who the large majority of people here came dressed up as, and I'm feeling hella old, and I have no idea what one is suppose to actually do or get done here. BUT I'm happy for them as they are all happy in their element as I see the high fives, iPhone flashes, and bags of swag getting filled, and money, in whatever currency form, being spent.
