I recently spent one week at OBX Attitude. I was celebrating my 72nd birthday with my family and friends.The house itself was very nice. After my return home,to my surprise,I received a phone call from Seaside Vacations. They accused me of having a cat in the house and cat urine on the carpet. This was a shock to me. There were never any cats or other animals in the house while we were there. They told me that that are going to charge me for the cleaning bill. Beware If this is how they treat their customers, they are not a reputable business to deal with. read more

The problem began prior to the trip, we received no information concerning our lockbox code, until after we called multiple times. Then we received three emails with the wrong lockbox code. We had to call again to get the correct code. The entire place was filthy from top to bottom. Thick layers of dust and grease over all surfaces. Bathtub not clean and showing signs of mold. Bug traps left out in the open (one of my dogs almost consumed it-supposed to be a pet friendly and toddler friendly place). Painting tape was left around fixtures. Dishes were covered in grime. We had to re clean the place in order to feel comfortable sleeping there. We attempted to contact management a number of times but received no call back. We decided to leave early when we discovered a cockroach infestation in our kitchen. I called again to ask to speak to management and they didn't get back to me for two days, that was only after contacting customer service two more times and having one of the representatives interrupt me, talk loudly over me and refuse to listen to my complaint. When management did call back, a woman named Mallory, started laughing and told me that cockroaches were normal, and if I wasn't happy with the way the place was cleaned, why didn't I call sooner. She offered no resolution, only blame for not calling right away, also talked over me while I was trying to describe our experience. read more

We were extremely disappointed when we arrived at our house and it was filthy. We figured with all the new "strict" cleaning standards due to COVID-19, the house would be spotless. Especially given the extra time that pushes check-in back to 5pm, basically causing us to lose a day of vacation. There were wadded up blankets on the floors in most of the bedroom closets. One room had a previous vacationers shoes under the wad of blankets. Used Kleenex on the floor, toothpaste in the sinks, dirty floors that looked unswept, and hair in showers just to name a few! Completely unacceptable!! And when my husband emailed them about this, including letting them know about our broken dishwasher, we got absolutely no reply. Needless to say, we will not recommend or rent from this company ever again! read more

ZERO RATING FOR SEASIDE VACATION 1617 Point Break Corolla NC . The review only allows 1 STAR, wish I could enter ZERO. Very disappointing. This is COVID, House was filthy, not cleaned prior to our check in as they promised. Dishes were dirty, all 7 trash bins were extremely full/overflowing prior to and throughout our stay. We found trash under the beds, game area, movie theater, laundry room, pool area, deck, floors and carpet dirty, carpet stains, pee around the toilets and walls, mold in the bathrooms and outside the house, broken furniture, dirty dishes, filthy moldy dish rack noisy, creaking beds which woke us up as we turned, broken door on freezer, broken freezer (ice cream melted) many other issues. We had checked in on Sunday. Spoke with the manager many times, spent a lot of time on my vacation until Thursday trouble shooting issues, cleaning the house which they should have done prior to our check in. They offered to clean the house on Monday afternoon, we had already done a lot of the cleaning. Throughout our stay until Thursday we found issues. We did not feel comfortable letting cleaners in the house in light of COVID, exposing us during a serious pandemic. I cannot believe they would put us in such a serious predicament . They never offered to move us into another house while they cleaned which I understand could have been an option. I was informed of this by a neighbor after we were leaving at the end of our stay. Neighbors shared they now use Twiddy since they've had many complaints about cleaning issues with Seaside Vacations. I don't recommend using Seaside Vacations or booking 1617 Point Break Corolla, NC. Manager was inexperienced, didn't handle this situation well. He asked me to take pictures of the trash not even concerned for my well being in light of COVID. Neighbors were very concerned that he asked me to do this. Yet they still did not take care of emptying the trash bins. They only cleared 2 or 3 of them a quarter way down. It was still full on Thursday, this issue was unaddressed. This was not a vacation for my family and I. We spent most of our time until Thursday cleaning, fixing things, troubleshooting issues. I give their cleaning and customer service a ZERO. DO NOT USE SEASIDE VACATION AND DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY. read more

We rented a house with seaside vacations in OBX and would never rent with them again - the house was not as it was depicted on the pictures, the whole outside area was so dirty that you couldn't use it- we paid for a high end vacation and got less than economy. When we requested the outside area to be cleaned we were confronted with unfriendly operators and no solution. Most importantly: seaside vacations will ask you after booking your trip to bring your own soap, cleaning material, even your own toilet paper! Never experienced this with Airbnb. read more

We've stayed at Sundune Village for 15 years but have never gone through Seaside Vacations. I've never left a negative review for Sundune Village or a vacation rental agency until now. 1st - Check-in isn't until 5 pm (why so late when every other unit is at least 3 pm?). We arrived promptly at 5 pm, walked in and found the unit had not been cleaned. Linens were everywhere, sand everywhere, a nasty refrigerator, dishes in the dishwasher, dirty kitchen table, dirty kitchen counters, and dirty bathrooms. We had already brought all our belongings up and had them sitting outside the door yet at 5:15 PM the maids attempted to enter using the keypad and they seemed shocked when we opened the door. IT WAS 5:15 PM. I proceeded to ask what was going on and one tells me it wasn't their fault while the other let me know they were running late (which was it? your fault or not?). They were terribly rude, and hateful, and one was even yelling and shouting "Happy 4th of July to us!" in a very angry tone. Around 6 pm we were finally able to move our things in. We contacted Seaside Vacations or at least attempted to. I understand they were busy but when they finally got back with us - all they offered was an 11 am check-out. More on this later. We said that wasn't good enough, and they then offered a $100 credit. More on this later, as well. 2nd - The description states that the kitchen is "fully-stocked" - it's not. There was nothing. The description also states "The living room features comfortable furniture" but what it fails to also mention is that there's not enough furniture for a family of 4 unless we squeeze 3 of us on the sofa so one of us either stood or sat in a kitchen chair. The "rocking" chair has a flat cushion, is very loud, and painfully uncomfortable. Speaking of uncomfortable - the mattresses (all of them) were so rock hard that my husband slept on the sofa because his back and hips were hurting so badly after sleeping in that bed. There was no washable bathroom rug in the master bath - this is disgusting. The carpet was nasty and stained. There was no usable closet in the master bedroom. The dishwasher and washing machine were so loud that it was impossible to use without waking someone up. 3rd - As I stated earlier, they allowed us to check-out at 11 am instead of 9 am (the sign on the refrigerator states 10 am - this needs to be looked into). Yet, at 9 am our daughter comes in off the porch and says a maid just pulled up and we assumed it was for another unit. No, it wasn't. At 9:05 AM a maid punched in a key code and walked right in. No knock. Nothing. Luckily, she was nice and apologetic. We immediately contacted Seaside Vacations yet again. They emailed later to let us know that the $100 originally mentioned would be removed from this vacation and not a future vacation as he meant originally. We will not be booking with Seaside Vacations or staying in this particular unit again. There would have to be a lot of changes made to change our minds on this with the main being a new rental agency, new mattresses, and an earlier check-in time. We absolutely adore Sundune Village and plan on staying there for many more years to come just not in Unit 310 and most definitely not with Seaside Vacations. My question is, however, if the maid can show up at 9 am on the nose then why is check-in so late? Why could check-in not be at 3 pm but if the unit is ready before 3, the rental agency will let you know so you can go ahead and start your vacation? Every other unit has always been this way and it works perfectly. read more

I'll start by saying that I have been coming to the OBX since the 80's and its a great place to kick back and relax. This was my 1st time to deal with Seaside and I can PROMISE the absolute last.Upon our late check in (due to covid cleaning) NOT, we found the house to be nasty dirty. All the kitchen utensils had to be washed immediately and many of the cups and bowls (the ones they had) looked as though they had been used as spittoons. The 1st night a main bathroom toilet failed and on Monday a 2nd 1/2 bath toilet literally &%@# the bed. Cause for both?, was improper maintenance. Someone in their infinite wisdom thought it to be a good idea to repair the cracked toilet flanges with duct tape. Very few of the outside lights worked like on the back grill porch and Jacuzzi area. This was due to shorts in the lighting and simply needing the proper bulbs so we managed in the dark till the maint crew showed on Tuesday. On Tuesday evening we had to clean the Jacuzzi (drain and refill) simply because it was nasty also. Though they did come and put a new cover on it that week:). I called and discussed the plethora of issues we had encountered with Seasides hospitality guy Matthew. After all the inconveniences he offered us a $100 rebate on our $4800 rental (which would have maybe paid for a lunch at McDonalds for our group). I told him to keep the $100 and just asked him to just turn the pool heat on. He agreed, but then again as with most issues we had, that never got done. To top it all off I was sent a survey to critique them and the link to start the survey does not work. Let me show you my surprised look. You think they saw this coming? Seaside vacations - if I could give them ZERO stars I would. And I am VERY disappointed in yelp for hiding 17 bad ratings that reflect exactly what I could have avoided on my outerbanks vacation. My family rented "Leap of Faith" in Corrola, NC the week of August 1st for almost 4k. We ordered groceries through Seaside groceries- affiliated and a part of seaside vacations - to be delivered for the day we arrived. When we got there for our 4pm check in- no groceries. I called the number on my receipt to find out when they would arrive and I was told "Everything was delivered and put in the fridge, labeled and left on the counter with the receipt". Well- it wasn't there!! Then I was told HOUSEKEEPING must have thought it belonged to the previous tenant and took it!! Cases of soda, water, toilet paper, paper towels etc.!? Really?! My groceries were stolen!! On top of that they left no toilet paper, no hand-wash, no paper towels and not even ONE garbage bag - 4000 dollar rental and not one garbage bag in the can. After a 14 hour drive we had to hit the grocery store - just what we wanted to avoid. There are numerous other reasons to NEVER rent from this very disorganized and ridiculous company beyond the lack of concern for my stolen groceries. The house didn't look clean especially the bathrooms, the towels were terrible and the bed linens not exactly hotel quality. I also ordered beach equipment that showed up incorrect and late. There are no cleaning supplies left in the house - when I told them this (not even a broom) and they actually told me to go buy some- put me on the payroll. They sent a supervisor over from housekeeping to assess the dirty bathrooms - and when we told her about the groceries she said "people leave things all the time- someone actually left a baby one time so housekeeping may have thought the last tenant left the food and supplies." Really- she is going to tell me someone left a baby that housekeeping had to take home? Anyway I know they aren't going to help me other than crediting me for stolen groceries. But I am going to write a letter to the owner of this home explaining how terribly seaside takes care of their property and I urge every vacationer with a bad experience to look up the actual home owner and let them know that seaside sucks and is giving their precious home a very bad reputation. Maybe this will help get them to clean up their act (and run background checks on their employees). read more

Stayed at "Sweet Dreams on the Water" through Seaside Vacations in Colington Harbor, Kill Devil Hills. First, we have rented for many, many years in Corolla and Duck, due to a family event, this was the first year we rented on the other side of the island. Second, about Colington Habor. It a development with a pool, tennis courts, and bay beach. It's located on the sound side of the island. There are many full year residents that live here. There is a guard gate at the entry. It is no where near the beach, you will have to drive and park in public parking, thank God, it's free. Now for my story. After driving 10 hours and pulling into the driveway, based on the online pictures, we were NOT pleasantly surprised. Once inside, we realized the marketing dept. is very good, nothing like the pics. There was a welcome bag from the realtor with TP, spices, a dish towel/pot holders and dishwasher detergent (which we didn't need due to the lack of a dishwasher). There were trap door spiders in the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, peeling laminate floors, and its much smaller than we envisioned. After unpacking and setting up home, all we wanted to do was throw some dogs on the grill and call it a day. Of course, the grill was broken and although Seaside was responsive, a new one wouldn't be delivered until the next day. (btw, it was dropped in front of the house and we had to lug it to the back yard). We had to bite the bullet and go out on a Sat. night, where the restaurants already are packed. While out, we needed to pick up some towels as the one towel/pp we rented was big enough to dry my dog and bug spray for the spiders. BTW, no dishwasher but that's on me, I should have noticed the omission in the property description. Speaking of dogs. Bring Fido but keep him on the lead. The yard is not fully fenced. Also, make sure their nails are clipped short because the house is open concept (really just one big room) which means no noise reduction and laminate floors abound. Also, there is prickers in the backyard so be careful of sensitive paws (and feet). Speaking of the "neighbor" their property is falling apart, boarded up, and there is junk on their deck. Nice view! We are a party of 4 with 3 bedrooms. Two bedrooms had queen beds and 1 had bunk beds. The bunk beds are not suitable for anyone over 80 lbs. and the queen beds had no support, no platform and no box spring, just a mattress on top of the frame. There was memory foam UNDER the mattress and a water proof mattress pad. You know what happens when 2 ppl try to sleep on this? When Seaside was called, they supposedly reached out to the homeowners who said there was memory foam under the mattress, all of my life, I have NEVER heard of this! Also, if you're staying in the downstairs bedroom, the upstairs bed sounds like it will come through the ceiling. I wound up sleeping in the recliner for the week and my husband slept on the couch. I know it's a rental and the furnishings are dumpy, but there's no excuse for NOT clean. If you're afraid of spiders, stay away. Bee allergy-keep away! Roaches (not palmetto bugs), keep away. What can I say when you find former renters undergarments?! If you plan on doing some fishing off the dock in the yard, leave the rods at home. There is no dock and it is very shallow. We used our complimentary rental credit from Vayk rentals for beach chairs and an umbrella. The chairs were well worn and it grosses me out thinking of who's butt was sitting there before mine. I can't say how the complimentary kayaks were but in the "Renters diary" left at the home, someone mentioned one of them leaked. Also, mentioned was a snake in the rocks in the sound. The house does have a pretty view of the sound, but the back wall is all windows. It get's pretty hot, especially on 90+ days. The upstairs shower is an exhibitionist booth with a window that faces the street and has access to your full body view. The description says there are tons of movies, that's because the cable doesn't work. The electrical outlets are loose and there are no outlets in the bathrooms or near a mirror to dry your hair. The cleaning supplies need to be upgraded, a broken broom and dirty mop isn't going to cut it and did you ever hear of a Swiffer? One more FYI. The washing machine uses high efficiency laundry detergent so if you're bringing your supplies from home, make sure you buy that type. It seems the homeowners bought this property strictly for investment and renting. There is minimal upkeep and a cheap reno. Sorry, but when I go on vacation, for the price they charge, I expect to have a home that is comparable, if not better, than my own. This place needs a lot of work. Renters beware, don't be fooled like us. Pluses: the view, it's very quiet, on a dead end street, the ducks and birds were joyful to watch. read more

Rented a home in Corolla this past week through Seaside. Plus was the keyless checkin. Unfortunately, we got into the house and it was the dirtiest home I have seen in over 10 years of visiting. Great news was Seaside got right on it- sent two new awesome cleaners and made it right within a few hours! The VayK gear was a nightmare but that also got resolved in two days. The hot tub was a cesspool and the pool had a hose in it way over flowed. Another call to Seaside fixed the issues. I have to say they were very responsive but it was our first year dealing with this nonsense. So.....not sure I'd want to go this route again. read more

Our stay in outer banks was during hurricane Irene. We only missed 2 days of our vacation week due to the diligence of Seaside. My comment is more directed toward the rental home Chillaxin. The homeowner refused to work with anyone or make us aware that there was heavy construction directly in front of our house that the owner was aware of over a month before our check in date. They ran a generator 24/7. No peace! We were there to rest and relax through our grief process of losing our grandmother and a very close family friend. I will use Seaside Vacations to book, but I will make sure I don't rent from the same homeowner. He should be ashamed! read more

We rented Points of View in Duck. We couldn't use anything outside due to spiders. Outside shower, hammock, yard. The property should be sprayed. There were cobwebs all over inside as well. What concerns me is they didn't post our review. There were no reviews on the property when we rented it either. Makes me think they don't post negative reviews. read more

This was the first time we've rented a house for vacation. After a long drive to our vacation house, we showed up to a dirty house. The cleaning crew pulled up to the house the same time we were supposed to check in. Our check in time was at 4:00pm and we weren't able to get into the house until 5:45pm. We had a 5 month old, a 2 year old and 4 other older kids with us. It was the longest hour and 45 mins of my life! After the cleaning people left the house still wasn't very clean. Other than that our stay was wonderful! I may go with a different rental company next time. read more

We stayed at Horizon's Summit and used the VayK rental option for bicycles and beach loungers. After (just now) reading the reviews here, I am not sure what's the owner vs property manager. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the location and the opportunity to have our dog stay with us. So I'd put my critique into the 'value' category since we paid extra for the things we appreciated most. The house wasn't fully clean on arrival. Minor things, except for the porch and outside furniture which were covered in bugs. Maintenance came out quick and cleaned and repaired some things. He mentioned that the failure prone vertical blinds were the choice of the owner, that Seaside discouraged that type of window cover. When we wanted to enjoy the ocean breeze and sound of the surf, we got a noisy rattle all night long. Furnishings and supplies were a notch below our prior experience. Housekeeping REALLY clears out everything. No coffee filters (had to buy 100), etc. there was a nice check in bag with toilet paper. But the leaky tub faucet, crummy shower head, busted ice maker, uncomfortable mattresses, scarcity of any knives shorter than 12", etc ... Hard to know if the owner thinks "pet friendly" means "a bit run down" or if the property manager is all show. The email communications from Seaside were good, and checkout seemed pretty easy - just trash and linens stripped. The VayK rentals were just OK. The bikes arrived with low air in just about every tire. Of course we kept forgetting to call, but when we finally got in touch, they got out to inflate them quick enough. The lounge chairs were in "end of season" condition. Ok. In summary, I'd say Seaside needs a bit more attention to the little things that make for a great experience. Unlike some other reviewers, I would consider renting from them again. And the owners of Horizons Summit might want to invest a bit in repairs etc. It's a decent property and guests with pets could just use a tiny bit more human convenience and comfort. read more

Seaside Vacations gave us good service when we emailed and called with a maintenance issue. They were very prompt and resolved the issue quickly. However, we were very disappointed in the actual house where we stayed. The pictures on the web site looked nice enough. But the house smelled musty and the carpet was stained. The quality and condition of the cabinets, flooring, and decor in general was very poor. It was a good vacation but we'll always remember the nasty house when we reminisce. read more

We've been vacationing with Seaside vacations since 2013 and it's always been a positive experience. However this year is the complete and utter opposite and the house rental is completely filthy. It is covered in cob webs and spiders, dead flies, dust, a dusty and moldy smell, one of the lounge chairs outside broke while sitting on it, and a whole bunch of their issues. We talked to TJ who is of no help and told us that they were gonna send a team and himself or another manager to do a walkthrough to show how filthy and unloveable this house is but they only send one cleaner and a maintenance guy when that is not even the issue. I have allergies to dust and mold, my niece has lupus and the trigger for her attacks is dust, I have another niece that has environmental allergies and a sister in law and mother in law that also has allergies and we all had a reaction as soon as we walked into the house. The house has not been maintained at all and the carpet is emitting a dusty and weird smell. Seaside vacations keeps giving us the runaround where an employee, Kelly, told us to look at another house to see if it is suitable for us but then TJ says that she shouldn't have done that and we can't do anything. If this is how you treat customers especially ones who have been vacationing with you for years and enjoyed your services, then we don't want to vacation with you anymore and will let anyone and everyone that your standards are poor and borderline dangerous especially with those who have health conditions. They did not offer any other options though I'm sure there are other vacated houses available to either upgrade or offer something. This is ridiculous and I would have given this place a zero but one star is the lowest. It's really sad as I love coming to the outer banks and renting a vacation home with my family but Seaside vacations has ruined it possibly forever. read more

DON'T RENT FROM SEASIDE VACATIONS ! we rented Scotch Bonnet House - a beachfront home - their website said 'newly constructed, immaculate interior and modern" but it was FILTHY, MOLDY, POORLY CONSTRUCTED, filled with dirty, broken, furniture. Upon our arrival the home was beyond dirty, had a toilet clogged with feces, it was gross. We tried to work w/realtor to come up w/reasonable solution but they were unwilling. read more

My family and I had an opportunity to rent Ferrari II, a property in OBX Aug 27 to Sept 3. 11 adults 7 grandkids. The property was in a good location, close to shopping, and across the road from the beach. The house layout was pretty good with bedrooms and bathrooms on all floors. Stairs were a challenge for us old folks but doable. Exterior seemed freshly painted. The kitchen has two dishwashers which I thought was crazy but I learned quickly it was a smart idea. Now there were some issues..... For an 8 bedroom house, the kitchen was definitely not equipped for a crowd - no serving platters, few serving bowls, no plastics for storing leftovers, no plastic cups or plates for children. Neither the largest pan or pot had lids. Toilet seat fell off in the master, mouse poop in dresser, great video arcade game but it just didn't work, ceiling fan with broken blade wobbling like crazy, old video equipment that didn't work, some lights burnt out, ironing board but no iron, dog hair on the living floor where the kids played. All of that told me no one was paying attention to maintenance, The troubling thing was the decking design, it has a bench built into the railing with an adjacent higher shelf to put your drinks on; however, it made an easy access for small children to climb over the rail potentially falling three stories down to concrete. NOT KID FRIENDLY, DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE. Also we found a rail slat not attached and a few days later the family was taking pictures on the top deck when my daughter-in-law leaned on the rail and almost fell through, The entire bottom rail wasn't attached. So we kept everyone off the decks or locked the screens if the locks were working (some were broken). One screen was installed upside down and backwards. We did contact the management, and they took care of what items they could (repairman told us that some things needed to be done by owner) Nice property just not being taken care of. This was our second rental with Seaside Vacations and probably our last. read more

A rental property was found in April for 10-2 through 10-9. A few days later, I went back and made the reservation. My family had not taken a vacation in about five years so was quick to sign the agreement from the excitement. On May 4th as I was filing away emails, I read the details of the agreement, and somehow my dates were 10-9 to 10-16. I became frantic because our family cannot vacation on that week. I immediately reached out to Seaside via email and was simply forwarded a cancellation form. I saw a cancellation fee of $175 and so once I had the opportunity- I called Seaside. When I called I was asking for grace because I had obviously overlooked something, the representative Taylor told me the property I had rented was actually booked for the week I need (and she expressed that week booked just a few days before I made my reservation), but no worries, we would work out something. Because I had reached out in May, about five months from the actual rental check in date, she left me hopeful something could be done. I did not hear back from Taylor until I called her three days later and she returned that call. She apologized and said my situation would simply be handled according to their cancellation policy. I called Seaside June 13th and talked to Taylor again to update my email address and I asked her if I understood if the house does not re rent, do I just lose my deposit or does my family get the chance to go for the week (which I do not think we can do, but we cannot afford to lose our entire deposit) She said we get the option; however, she said two different things- She said if we decided to go we would have to pay the balance within 30 days of arrival, but then that could take away from re rent possibilities-- so I asked what if we paid the week before check in if we could even work something out to go, and she paused a moment and said "yeah, that should be fine." I would not recommend doing business with a company who is not flexible to acknowledge the human factor in their business interactions and pick/choose where they are flexible. When I say human factor what I mean is-- We all can totally understand the black and white print of a rental agreement; however, there is alot to be said about a company who sticks to their black and white print and refuses to acknowledge the gray areas of life -- which is where most of us live on a daily basis, no? The human factor is that we all make honest mistakes, and we can only hope that when we do, we learn from the mistake, but more importantly that we can learn in a supportive way. That is NOT the case with Seaside. In my experience, I had the house up on my PC with the 10-3 through 10-9 date up, but since it rented before I made my reservation, their site or my refresh when I went back to make the reservation populated the next available week. Yes, I should have double checked my dates. I have two toddlers, one of them is teething, I did this in one of those nanoseconds I get to do something other than keep up with the kids. ANY stay at home parent can empathize with what that means. When I called Seaside, I offered a few solutions and I was open to anything that would allow me to firm up my long awaited vacation plans for my family, so I attempted to be flexible hoping to offset my mistake, and I had to chase them down to be told no despite me reaching out to them four-five months in advance. Yet, while their treatment of holding me to their cancellation policy is firm, my ability to pay for the balance on this week if it does not re rent is a gray area of "pay 30 days before check in or should be fine the week before." Though we cannot go, I was asking because I remain frantic for over a month now because of potentially losing a $1,000 deposit- something ANY family can relate to. It was a very nice, comfortable home that was decorated just perfect.This was our last trip probably to the Outer Banks since we had to move back to Fla. Our experience with Seaside Vacations began well but ended badly. Navigating the site and booking a rental all went smoothly. The problems began when we arrived for check-in. It had been discovered that morning that the rental property we had booked for two weeks was uninhabitable. Seaside Vacations found us an alternate property which was only available for the first week and continued to look for something for the second week. Unfortunately, they seem to have not looked terribly hard. They were simply searching the websites of other realty companies (something we could do ourselves) rather than making phone calls. While we didn't expect there would be a multitude of of availabilities during the high season, we would expect a decent realtor to pick up the phone and have some contacts in the area that he could call for help. When they were unable to find anything, we canceled the second week. As it turned out, the alternate property was less expensive than the property we had originally booked. Seaside, however, tried to refund only the cost of the original rental, not the price difference. Even after agreeing that they would send a second check to cover the difference, they never sent it (we needed to dispute the charge with our credit card company). While we don't blame Seaside Vacations for the problems with the original rental property, their half-hearted effort to find accommodations for the second week and the shady attempt to rip us off on the refund have negated all positive aspects of working with this company. Terrible, Filthy, and Embarrassing. This is our experience September 2013. We spent a week at Seventh Heaven, Southern Shores, a Seaside Vacations Property, twice in the past. Once in 2004 and then again in 2005. Both times we had pleasant experiences. Not so this time. In fact the experience was very disappointing to say the least. When we first arrived, the first thing I noticed was that the yard, front, side and along the pool, was full of debris. Then when we went inside, we saw that the tables, counter tops and floors looked as though they had not been cleaned. The sink, refrigerator and bathrooms were gross too. I call Seaside and explained the situation, so they sent two ladies out, to re-clean. Totally embarrassing as we had family from Germany with us and it did not set a good impression. The cleaning ladies agreed that the house was a pig stye. Totally discussing. And as if the dirty house was not bad enough, Here is a list of things that either did not work, or were gross, or broken: Nails popping out all over the deck Main Kitchen sink faucet leaked (made a mess everywhere, it was bad!) Dishwasher did not work properly TV picture was bad Bikes were not safe to ride, had to rent bikes for the week Pots and pans should be thrown out, old and nasty Stove- one of the burners did not work Jiggers all over the yard, could not play any sports (in the house too, those things hurt!) Mater bath towel bar about ready to fall off, whirl pool totally gross, look at the jets! (scum) tub drain was clogged. Hall bath toilet loose Carpets were disgusting through-out the house Table on the back screened in porch was/is so gross we needed to bye table cloths to hide the filth Light bulbs out in various locations walls and trim needs painted, cleaned. garbage can in the kitchen was totally gross. Frige was not cleaned Windows through out the house were nasty, hand prints from previous guest just bad. There were more items, but I think you get the point. This place was not worth the money. I do not feel I should have been charged to stay here with this place being so gross. I was told on Monday that a manager from Seaside Vacations would get back to me, not yet! Having to give this company 1 star is an abomination in itself. We were called 15 minutes before our 4:00pm check-in and told that we could not stay in the house because of storm damage. We were offered a house with less bedrooms, no ocean view and expected to pay the same amount. We had no other options and reluctantly had to accept their offer. When we showed up to the house, the pool was destroyed from the storm. As I type this, I'm still waiting for them to show up to get the pool cleaned up. There were a few time that we needed to contact them and each time they were responsive and extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely look at their rentals FIRST from now on! read more

Our family has been coming to the Outer Banks for over 17 years. Seaside vacation rental by far has always been the best agency to rent from. From the start, a lovely representative literally drive to the property and took photos in order to reassure us about unanswered questions. Our house was spotless and almost perfect. Our coffee pot broke and within 2 hours someone brought us a new pot. The pool & hot tub were spotless. Our grill was not up to par, but the rentAl agency remedied that immediately. Let me start this with I realize that weather issues are something we have no control over...but how about showing some care and compassion. Had a 3 level condo, which was nice, run down but clean. The bottom floor, the only way in or out became flooded with about 6-8 inches of water. Was told nothing they could do till raining stopped. Well the raining stopped and nothing from Seaside, not even a call to ask how it is? Spent the remaining days walking through absolutely disgusting water to get in and out of house. Was told that they were going to drain the water out of parking lot to help, never happened. Then we came home to the power out. They did send someone over to fix, but in the mean time had no plan as to what what happen if it couldn't be fixed. Got the impression we were gonna be out of luck on that. I feel for the next family in here. There's still water and it's beginning to smell. The rug on the stairs is saturated. I am absolutely disgusted with this company and their lack of caring. We rented a lovely vacation home in NC's outer banks from Seaside Vacations this week. But, we've had some maintenance issues for which Seaside Vacations has not been adequately responsive. The house currently has a problem with ants. Seaside Vacations was advised on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and again on Monday morning. Finally, a pest control pro showed up Monday afternoon and treated. Today is Wednesday and the ants are still here, as bad as ever. Nobody from Seaside Vacations has been here to check on the problem. They don't seem to care. read more

A Shore Thing - 651 Sand Plum Court - - EXCELLENT house! Every single thing in the house is brand new - - from dishes and appliances to flooring, bedding beds, mattresses, décor, furniture - - not one thing is second hand or from a thrift store. Great location only one block from the beach, and great amenities. Elevator, pool, hot tub (but hot tub needs a lift bar if you plan to use it - - we couldn't remove the lid, and Seaside Vacations took 2 days to even reply - - just to say they couldn't help. Other than that, the house is incredibly comfortable, clean as a whistle, and feels like a model home. Highly recommend! read more

I'm very surprised by the reviews here. We just returned from a week in Nags Head at a house managed by Seaside Vacations. This was the best house we have had in many years of vacationing in the OBX. The house was clean as could be. One day the ac didn't work on one floor. I called SV and someone was at the house within an hour. It was fixed in no time. We found SV to be very responsive and professional. I already reserved the same house for next year. Never did that before but we didn't want to lose the house and didn't want to work with any other realtor. Great vacation. read more

Can't I give them less than 1? We arrived to find that the our ocean front place was anything but! It was construction front. While we understand that they can't control the beach being reclaimed, we feel they had an obligation to ensure we knew what we were walking into! We should have been educated to make the choice to stay or not! The work goes on 24/7 which mean not only do we have to walk around construction equipment to fight for our tiny spot on the beach, we also have to listen to the beeping of dullbozers all day and night. They were moving fast so we hoped they would clear out...only to find out they set up shop in front of our place! Home base I guess as they finished the beach. We contacted the company via email...no response...we called the office and Kevin offered us mere water park passes, something I assure you they received for free. His excuse...we can't control the government. No you can't but you can disclose such information. We rent ocean front for a reason!!! The websites they want to assure you have a fabulous vacation. My two sisters and I are in our 70's and live in different areas of Virginia. About 5 years ago we decided to go to the beach together, with no husbands, pets or children...just us. We chose Seaside Vacations because one sister had used them before with her own family. We have found them to be extremely reliable in making sure we had all information needed, and the service has always been outstanding. We come twice a year for a week in a beachfront house that is perfect for us. This year a problem arose just a few weeks before our spring vacation. One sister could not be gone that particular week. I called Seaside, and in a matter of minutes I had a new contract for the same house for one week earlier at no additional charge! My sister had been losing sleep over this, and she almost cried when I gave her the good news. We wouldn't think of using another rental company. read more

everything was great until hurricane Arthur. Arthur was to make landfall on thursday evening/friday morning. We called Seaside for information on wed. morning and were told they didn't have any information at the time but would call us back as soon as a meeting that was underway was finished and there was more information on an evacuation/next steps. I asked what we should expect and the lady i spoke with told me that if a warning was issued, all non residents would be evacuated. the Warning was issued at 5 and we never received a call, and the office closes at 5 so there was no one we could speak to. we made the decision at that point to leave the next day because we couldn't risk getting stuck there, not to mention the fact that we had a 14 hr drive ahead of us, and if we were leaving wanted to get out asap. Their offices are not open until 8:30 we called several times from 8:30-9:30 with no answer and finally got through to the emergency line. we left a message for the office to call us back and didn't get a call tip around 11:30 and the call dropped. When i tried to call back, no one answered. never heard from them again until around 4:30 pm when we got an email update on Arthur. We took out vacation insurance and are now being told they will not reimburse us for the missed days since no evacuation was issued for the area we were in. There was no definite decision as of Wed. evening and like i said, we went on the only information we had and left. Seaside Vacations should have been in contact with their clients to make sure everyone understood what to expect and what preparations to make as news of the storm was updated. Like i said, we didn't receive any information from them until 4:30 on thursday, when we were already 11 hours into our trip home. I'm very disappointed at how they handled this situation and that there doesn't seem to be any attempt to make up for their ineptitude. I understand they figure that they will rent these homes regardless of 1 unhappy customer, but it will eventually catch up to them. Monteray Shores in Corolla is a beautiful community with a large pool, a pier on the Sound, and a short distance from the beach and grocery store. We had concerns with Cinnamon Sands upon arrival: the front door was locked with a keyed deadbolt so we couldn't use it, dirty sheets and hair on one bed, window blinds not operating properly, the grill on the deck was not working, the carpeting and floors clearly NOT vacuumed nor washed down, railing on the third floor deck loose and badly weathered (a real danger to our small kids), broken glass fragments on the carpeting and kitchen floor, two large (maybe 10X10) pieces of broken glass leaning on the outdoor shower (my husband opened the stall and the glass fell on him and cut his foot). Seaside responded quickly to our concerns but not all issues were resolved. We ended having to thoroughly vacuum the unit and wipe down the kitchen floor for fear of glass shards. read more

Stayed at Lazy Daze in Duck last week with 6 friends. The location couldn't have been better. Close to beach, shopping, and restaurants. Easy access in and out of street. Upon arrival we noticed immediately that the house itself was older than the others on the street and looked dated. The carpets were full of stains, the curtains on the top floor had water stains and the ceiling fans were filthy. Two of the shower curtains had mold and the master bath glass shower door also had black mold. There was a distinct smell coming from the second floor hall and for days we couldn't figure out what it was. Horrible body odor smell. Finally realized it was coming from a plastic baby gate. We put it out on the porch and the smell disappeared. The basement had a musty smell and all the windows were so bad you couldn't enjoy the view. I'm guessing this is owned by a rental company that doesn't check up on what their cleaning crew does. It could use a new carpet, new curtains, get rid of the mold and update the place. Very disappointing and will not recommend to anyone! read more

Absolutely horrible experience renting off of this company. Not only were there live cock roaches found in the bed, there were tics spotted in the bathroom and broken glass in the area where the ping pong table was at, which resulted in one of our guest getting cut on the foot. This was proof the place was not cleaned, but we would have never expected the structural integrity of the sliding glass door would be in such poor condition, and eventually cause a threat of injury to our guests when it abruptly came crashing down out of nowhere. We thought that seaside would be very apologetic and thankful that nobody was injured, but all they were worried about was the security deposit. The door crashing down could have seriously injured or killed one of our children. We were all thankful nobody got injured and thought they would think the same thing because they could have had a huge lawsuit on their hands if someone was injured. We were a group of 4 married couples with two infant children and they accused us of destroying the door frame and kicking the door in, which is absurd. Not only was the place not cleaned, it obviously was not inspected by a qualified individual prior to us moving in for the week. I recommend all to take severe caution when renting off of these people. Do inspections and take a lot of photos before you start moving in. It is obvious that they are out to get their tenants to pay for repairs on their vacation homes. They can not continue to get away with this. I know several other people who were nickel and dimed by seaside after they leave for the week. Because of Seasides lack of care for their tenants and properties I will never rent off of them again. I encourage all to use other rental agencies before someone seriously gets hurt in one of Seasides house. read more
