    Hair all over our bathroom floor

    The house we stayed in was located in Corolla, NC. A beautiful neighborhood and very close to the beach. However, we will never use this rental company again. Prior to our arrival we confirmed with the rental company that the house would be cleaned. That clearly did not happen. I can only discuss the experience we had in our bedroom. There were 9 bedrooms in the house so you can probably multiply these issues by 9. Our bedroom was filthy and disgusting. There was trash on the floor. I made the mistake of looking under the bed and found some popcorn and spare change along with more trash. The pillows on the bed were gross and discolored. I wouldn't have felt comfortable using these pillows even with 3 pillowcases. The curtains in the room were too small for the window so they didn't close properly. The room stayed bright all night. There was also a rug on the floor that smelled so bad we had to put it outside with the discolored and stained pillows. The worst part of our experience (yes there is more) was the bathroom. There was hair all over the floor and in the shower. The shower was also filthy. I've included a photo of the bathroom floor. Our room also had a flying insect problem and there was a hornets nest on the deck next to our room. To add insult to injury, the tv in our room didn't work. We would have been happy watching the TV upstairs in the living room, but the couch had so many stains on it -we sat outside in plastic chairs instead. We called this management company to complain. This didn't seem high on their priority list and they never called us back like they promised to do. We ended up buying a swiffer wetjet to clean the floors in our room. There was so much dirt built up on our bedroom and bathroom floors that it was actually tough to push the mop. After using almost the entire box of the wetjet refills, we gave up. To summarize: Corolla was a great town. The house we stayed in was in a great neighborhood. We had lots of fun with our family at the beach. However, every time we went back to the house, our vacation experience was ruined. Be cautious of this rental company. Still no follow up phone call from them that they promised. Maybe tomorrow? I won't hold my breath.......

    What a fantastic vacation. Shoreline OBX is a fantastic company and every single element of our week in Duck went smoothly and without a hitch. Communication prior to, during and after the trip was amazing and detailed. No issue left to chance. And our rental house, Mio-Sea, was directly on the beach and beautifully furnished. Thanks so much to Leigh for all of her help!

    There were numerous visible problems, including several safety concerns. Had attention to detail been better, they would've been addressed before we showed up. I've never experienced this with Sun, Twiddy or others, so I'll "vote with my feet" as the saying goes ...

Jus' Ducky is a zero!…read more Southern Shores, and in particular, Lori Payne did the best they could to manage and, when possible, mitigate the issues with our rental house. Some issues should have been identified by the cleaning staff before our arrival, however. I do NOT recommend Jus' Ducky (12 Ocean Blvd) as a rental property. This house is not in any condition to be rented. The owner made minor updates to two bathrooms this year, but they have significantly bigger issues with AC, insulation, deck, furniture, etc. from many years of owner neglect and lack of investment/maintenance. Several service members also made unsolicited comments that the house was in poor shape, shouldn't have been rented, thought we might be moved to another house, etc. Chelsea (Southern Shores maintenance), and the teams at R. A. Hoy and KICZ were responsive, polite, and knowledgeable. When we were several hours into a loss of all electricity with no AC and no food (we kept delaying our restaurant reservation to celebrate a 45-year wedding anniversary--eventually we ended up with all restaurants closed and we still weren't any closer to a remedy), one of the guys from Hoy invited us to come to his home to get a bite to eat and a break from the heat--we declined, but appreciated his offer--very kind). The owner refused to take ANY responsibility for the many hours/days of our vacation spent dealing with maintenance, the electric company, HVAC and related issues. Ultimately, Southern Shores stepped up and provided a small financial remedy which we greatly appreciate. Although I will never rent this house again, I will certainly rent from Southern Shores in the future!

    My friends and I were extremely excited with our choice of The Sandbar for our girl's trip, this…read moreyear. Two of us arrived on Saturday and the others were due to arrive the following day. We CAREFULLY selected our home due to 2 RELYING on the elevator to get up and down the stairs. Upon arrival, one person who RELIED on the elevator due to mobility issues was UNABLE to exit the elevator. The mechanism which unlocks the door upon its arrival to the designated floor WOULD NOT UNLOCK. They rode the elevator up and down trying to exit on each floor but remained STUCK IN THE ELEVATOR. Finally, after 10 minutes and much anguish (they also suffer from heart issues and severe asthma) they were FINALLY able to exit the elevator. I placed a call to the on-call repairman who arrived a few hours later. He stated the elevator was running as it should but the elevator company would need to come out to repair the door lock because if he did it would affect the warranty for the elevator. I asked him to get in the elevator to test it be he replied he would NOT ENTER IT BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO GET STUCK INSIDE. He said a work order was submitted the week before we got there and it was SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED. Guess what, it obviously WAS NOT. He said he'd call in an another work order but since it was September 13th they no longer worked on weekends. They would more than likely be out on Monday. This was UNACCEPTABLE as what would happen in case of an emergency with my friend who was dependent on the elevator? I called Beach Realty and spoke with their office manager on duty. She said there was no need to create scenarios that may or may not happen. SERIOUSLY??? She said there was nothing she could do and if something happened just call the fire department. She assured me she'd call with information from Atlantic Elevators. When it was late afternoon on Monday, I called Atlantic Elevators and was told they would not be out until sometime on Tuesday, September 16th. The office manager I previously spoke with was NOT happy that I called them. Fortunately, we had picked up a limited number of items at Food Lion and a large pizza before entering the house on Saturday. We were STRANDED on the top floor of this home for 3.5 days of our vacation. I would NOT leave my friend alone in that house if she experienced a medical emergency. Our other friend who has more severe mobility issues decided NOT to make the trip since they were afraid they'd arrive and not be able to use the elevator. I told the person I had been in contact with at Beach Realty that I was considering contacting an attorney because of the runaround I was getting. Her response was "YOU DON'T WANT TO MESS WITH THIS OWNER." That definitely was a serious threat from her. The weather on Wednesday and Thursday was not conducive for using the pool so we did some souvenir shopping and sightseeing after being STRANDED on the top floor for 3.5 days. Friday arrived with sun and bright blue skies. We made our way to the pool for what we thought would be a relaxing afternoon. Upon getting to the pool steps, we found a HUGE, DEAD RAT off to the side. ( I've included 2 photos). A call was made to BEACH REALTY and someone removed it between Friday night and Saturday morning. Our original check-out date was Saturday, September 20th. I called Beach Realty on Thursday to see if they AND the owner would grant us 3 extra days since the elevator wasn't in operation for 3.5 days and we were stuck on the 3rd floor. (NO ONE HAD RESERVED THE HOME FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 20-27th). The owner granted ONE EXTRA DAY.... OH WOW!!! I WILL NEVER RENT FROM BEACH REALTY, AGAIN!!! They DO NOT value their customers NOR care about their safety. If you're smart, you'll rent from another company.

The air filters were beyond dirty, the house smelled of mildew, had complimentary pubic hair, potential bed bugs, ants, pee stained mattresses , black mold, broken hot tub, dirty dishes, stained and unclean carpets, stained linens, etc. The company dispatched cleaners back to the house, but they were useless. I have never experienced filth like this in my lifetime. The address of the house is 1269 Clearwater Lane in Corolla. The house is named Dolphin's Song. The property management company was absolutely useless. Don't let your vacation be ruined like mine was! P.S. They remove negative posts from their website. Deception at its best!

    We rented 'Island Time'  (4531 Lindbergh Ave Kitty Hawk, NC) through Joe Lamb, Jr & Associates from…read more7/26 through 8/2.  From the time we pulled into the driveway until the time we checked out there were problems with the unit.    Upon arrival to the house we observed all three exterior trashcans overflowing,  the kitchen fridge shelf and drawer on the kitchen counter broken,  and the  sliding screen door off track  on the 2nd level bedroom.  Over the course of the week we encountered numerous other issues including wifi and family room tv not working when we arrived (it was resolved the following afternoon),  broken dishwasher that had to be replaced,  shower drain clog (first day we were there) that needed a plumber, toaster oven that had flames and smoke coming out (first time we used it), oven sporadically working,  blender that had a burning smell,  charcoal grill vent rusted shut so it couldn't easily be emptied, 3rd level AC was so cold we had to periodically open the door to the outside,  and mold in the 3rd level bedroom's bathroom.  We stopped using the toaster oven, oven, blender, and grill.  We also left the fire extinguisher on the kitchen counter top due to all of the issues in the kitchen.  The mold in the 3rd level bathroom was never addressed.   We spent a considerable amount of time having these issues addressed, almost daily. When we asked for compensation for the time and inconvenience with the rental it took repeated emails to Kim Dubec (Assistant GM/ Operations Manager) who never responded, to Patrick Lamb (Service Manager) who didn't respond initially and required me to repeatedly ask for a status of my request. I finally forwarded the email chain to Zee Lamb (CEO and Chairman). After that Patrick responded stating the owners denied my request stating 'After discussing your request with the owner, they have decided to deny the refund. The owner confirmed that their family stayed in the unit the week prior and everything, including all appliances and countertop items in the kitchen--which was completely remodeled in May 2024--was working properly. '. I then filed a complaint with The North Carolina Real Estate Commission and the North Carolina Consumer Protection Division and awaiting a decision.

Good luck parking if the other tenant has two cars. We have a 3/4 ton truck also, so use your imagination. Anyway, the point is that you're only renting HALF of what's in the picture. Again, they never mention it in the ad, intentional misadvertising. Outright theft in my book. Aside from that, the bathroom mirror was laying on the floor because the hook broke. Obviously just left there by the cleaning service, since the screw was carefully laced on the counter. This is the 3rd year in a row that we were burnt by Joe Lamb, so I suppose it's our fault. Do NOT trust Joe Lamb. EVER.

We vacationed in OBX every year when our kids were little and decided to do oceanfront for our kids and grandkids to have a fabulous vacation. For a $28,000 oceanfront rental property, we expected more. 1. Nails sticking up from wood decking to beach (granddaughter cut her foot) 2. No hot water in both kitchen sinks. Seriously! Many maintenance visits resulted in it getting fixed the afternoon of our last day! 3. Pool lights and pool deck lights not working. 4. Outdoor shower was pretty disgusting. 5. Pool deck and hot tub area was lacking. One single (insufficient) hose, laying in pile of sand under the house was the ONLY way to clean sandy feet. 6. Gazebo - which should be a nice outdoor gathering spot - was completely overgrown, dark and dingy, and you could not sit in there for the spiderwebs, old broken chairs and mold. Ewww. 7. 2nd floor dryer never worked the entire week. 8. House was not adequately equipped (no broom, dustpan, mop, missing trashcans etc.), and the outside doors to the decks didn't close properly, basically a HUGE disappointment. I had the opportunity to view my sister's family rental 1 mile down the beach - SAME PRICE - and it was immaculate! Shower and foot sprayer coming off the beach. Hot tub on the oceanfront gazebo. Furniture in great condition, etc. I wrote to CDR and asked for a partial refund. Below is the answer I received. "To provide a bit of background, each home is individually owned, and our role is to serve as the Rental Manager ("Agent") on their behalf. The Vacation Rental Agreement notes that refunds are not typically issued for inoperable appliances, utility interruptions, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance-related concerns." I urge you to NOT rent a house from Carolina Design Realty. They should be more aware of what a $28,000/week rental should provide and be able to negotiate with owners.

    We rented this property a year ago when it was with Vacasa 9639D E Nansemond Street Nags Head NC…read more 27959, and it was amazing, older but price was right (just over 4K) The management changed this year after we had our reservation through Vacasa and we searched and found the home again with Atlantic Realty. We ended up paying an extra 1k to rent it. When we arrived there was a tip envelope on the counter saying the home had been cleaned and inspected but clearly it wasn't because there was items from the prior tenants stored all around the home and it was dirty. Extra beds on the patio, baby gates out front by the outside shower, someone's underwear, socks and bra in the drawers, moldy shower curtain, dirt under the beds. We called housekeeping number on the envelope but there was no answer. When we finally did get ahold of someone they came and picked up the items outside. For more than 5k for the week I expected better not worse. We loved this place last year when we stayed here but we are already planning our next home and going back to Vacasa.

The owner is extremely condescending and his only explanation to me was "it was that time when I should have read the fine print" regarding his roll over 2 year contract. Which by the way was stated as the last 2 sentences in his lengthy letter regarding their wonderful job they did during Covid keeping homes clean. The letter went on with paragraph after paragraph then slipping in 2 sentences in referring to the new contract --. He's one sly Fox. Beware. There are many other reputable honest real estate management companies in the OBX. Do your homework and read the fine print
