Overall a good experience. Seemed to be quite a bit of room in the restaurant, but the back room seemed to be empty, like they were waiting for the evening rush. A subdued crowd, so it wasn't loud at all. Staff was attentive. Even got a visit from the manager at the end of the meal. A good spin on oysters rockefeller with this redneck version. Hushpuppies were crispy outside and soft on the inside, just like you want them. The ribeye was a underwhelming for the price. I also expected more spice from the BBQ shrimp. When something says jerk, I expected some more spice. The key lime pie lacked lunch as well, but I like some pucker in that dessert. Volcano cookie was pretty solid. Definitely will be back to try some other things. read more

Craving seafood living north of Winder I finally found this place and decided to go try it out. Nice, busy place, clean have everything from lobster rolls to the fish and chips, which is what we came here for. I got a four piece cod and this is the best fish I've had when I'm looking for a true British fish and chips. The potato chips were a little overcooked, but still great, french fries I brought home and just air fry them and brought them back to life so they were very good as well. I think the only odd thing not bad, but odd was the fried green tomatoes, which were almost like a pancake batter, which gave it a very sweet taste, which I was not expecting. I think I'm more of a savory fried green tomato, crunchy guy, but these had pickled onions, seemed to be cooked with love just didn't eat my taste buds but while presented. Ordered the crabcake sandwich in the jury is still out. Perhaps I was having fried food overload, but it didn't hit as well until I pulled it off. The patty added a little bit of old bay seasoning and this crab cake was quite tasty. How you adjust your meals is all up to you, but since I usually get things to go and bring them home, if there's something I want more I just add it no complaints because I thought this was a good value and great service. All in all, this was a very good place, oysters are priced insanely these days cause coming from South Georgia where I used to hit the beach for $.10 apiece for oysters. It's really hard to dive in the raw oysters which I love but not for two dollars apiece. I'm sure they're good but I'm gonna skip out and stick with sushi for my raw fish right now, and use this place for my fish and chips for sure! I used to love coming here, especially for happy hour. The last visit fell short. I met a friend here right before happy hour was over. Ordered in time before it ended. The server didn't even put in the dozen oysters. He fixed it quickly and still honored the happy hour price. When the oysters came out, they were not as clean as they normally are, like it was rushed and not rinsed as well. Food was not as good as it normally was. When we got the bill, half the stuff we ordered on happy hour was also put in late and the manager had to manually fix the price for us. Definitely disappointed in this visit. It may be awhile before I am willing to come back and give them another try. read more

CATFISH lovers THIS IS THE JOINT! The dish alone can take up its own review but there were other great plates to mention as well. The shrimp and grits were creamy, flavorful and the little pork bits were a great touch. Chitty chitty shrimp on the bed of slaw was outstanding! Our server was great! When we came in the table we were seated at was getting rain poured on us through the cracks and they were able to immediately move us to a better area. The food was delicious! I visited for lunch and there were plenty of seats available. I ordered the Nola pasta with grilled chicken and it was incredible. The flavor was rich, perfectly seasoned, and the chicken was cooked just right, tender with the perfect char. Honestly one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. Always an amazing time when we stop by! Not only is the food amazing, the staff here are the sweetest. Granted there are days when they're super busy and service isn't 100% but they always try their hardest and the food always hits. My favorite go to is the seafood poutine fries. I can eat only that! Server was friendly. But the food was gross. This place used to be called True Vine. Now it's renamed but kept a lot of the same dishes on the menu. But they don't know how to make them. The hush puppies were a chewy mess. The chicken & waffle had no flavor except for the taste of cheap honey and the cold syrup it was served with. The weird grey butter sludge all over it tasted like doodoo. The server took the hush puppies off the bill which I appreciated but the meal was awful. And no manager ever came out to address the issues. If you're going to charge $18 a plate or more, you need a chef. Not a "cook". Very disappointing. read more

First time visiting SOB and certainly won't our last. Had seen good reviews online and the photos were tempting so today after seeing a movie at the nearby theater, we decided to have an early dinner. My wife was pleased with the cheeseburger and I was pleased with the catfish and grits. We will definitely be back. my husband and I came to this restaurant this afternoon and I was very disappointed. We had some loaded oysters which were mediocre at most. The bread was stale. Then we had what was the other thing we had mussels in a broth, the best part was the broth and I would've been more satisfied with the frozen pack from Kroger or Publix. I asked for two club sodas and we were charged seven dollars for those. We ordered two old fashions and we're charged an extra seven because we asked for makers, which is no exclusive liquor. Been here about 4 times and each time the food has been really good. Drinks are good. Service can be so so. This last time was just hubby and I and had the seafood poutine which is so delicious and oysters. All were very good. Drawback is they don't take reservations on the weekends. Seaside Oyster bar has a pretty nice vibe. I love the aesthetics of the place, everything was so beautiful. The look is very coastal with all of the beautiful blue colors, also, the outside patio is really nice with the fire pit tables.... I like! Now let's get to the food, they have a very large menu that goes from handheld sandwiches to seafood entrées. We ordered the catfish and the redfish, The catfish was really good, fried to perfection in ...really yummy. They also served it with coleslaw and we ordered a salad in the place of fries with hush puppies...... the red fish was delicious with the grill Vegetables ...really took it over the edge. The service was really great even though we did have a few hiccups, the dish that our salads were served out of had some type of sticky sauce stuck to the side of them. We ordered wings for appetizers, And the small appetizer plates had lettuce and other dried on foods stuck on them- look like the dishwasher didn't do its job. All in all, I do like the vibe of this place and will be visiting again for the chard oysters. read more

We went out for my husband's birthday and decided to try something new in the area! We stumbled upon this SOB (lol no pun intended). We got there a little later on a slow Sunday and sat immediately. The ambiance is a modernized fish restaurant that's not captain Ds. As for service, Brandon was a wonderful server. He was attentive, kind and professional. He got our order and it was out in no time. For the food, it was great! Nothing mind blowing but still wonderful flavor. Would I crave it? Maybe but it's not on my top list. Food was passable but weird. Fried Green Tomatoes were sweet, like sugary sweet, not the traditional savory . Oysters were rather paltry for the price, not really a surprise though. The others' in our party were ambivalent as to food quality. Waitress was nice and trained but the actual delivery at the table was chaotic and poorly trained. ( party of 7). Visited twice, so far. Ate too fast too get pictures! The lobstah (lobster for you Southern folks) roll was a little small for the price. Hush puppies were great. Wife had a pimento smash burger. She was happy as well. Second trip, Juan was our server. He's great! I had the Tuna Poke Bowl, and my wife got the pimento bacon burger (not smashed this time). The poke bowl was amazing with a lot of tuna. Very delicious and filling. The bigger however wasn't impressive at all. Might have been a "Bubba Burger", but it didn't seem like a fresh handmade patty... I really hope this restaurant last longer than the previous 2 restaurants that have occupied this space and failed. The restaurant looks new. Clean and not noisy. Nice high back booths and tables. Manager came by and checked on everything. We had 1/2 pound peel and eat shrimp, lobster bisque, salad, mussels and linguini in a cream sauce. Everything was good. I would have like the mussels to have a little more seasoning. Our waitress was super sweet and the service was great. Only hiccup was they couldn't figure out how to get the rewards to load. I even had the manager check and they seem to think they had fixed it, but still didn't get credit for the check when I followed up the next day. First time dining at Seaside Oyster Bar (SOB) and we will definitely go back. Such a positive dining experience. We were welcomed when we entered and seated immediately. Matthew was our waiter and he was friendly and attentive and came to check on us multiple times during the meal. The menu has a lot of variety. I had a cup of Lobster Bisque that was delicious. It had amazing flavor and was thick and creamy. I ordered the Asian glazed salmon over vegetables and it was wonderful. My husband had the fish and chips and it was such a large portion he couldn't finish it. We went during Social Hour and my Chardonnay was only $6.00 and it was a healthy pour. We were seated immediately. The food here is great, however the service falls a bit short. For an appetizer we got fried green tomatoes, the sauce they serve with them doesn't pair well but the tomato itself with the thin coat of breading and the drizzle they put on top is pretty good. I probably wouldn't order these again solely because the breading has a sweet taste. I'm from the south and it's a pass for me. For my entree I got the fish and chips. They were served with fries and chips. They did accommodate me by allowing me to sub slaw or the potato chips. The fish was flaky and thinly coated. It's served with a charred lemon that accentuates the flavor of the fish. I would eat them over and over again from here. It's the second time I've had them. This was the first time I tried the slaw and I am hooked! It has an Asian vibe. It's lightly dressed and simply delicious. It paired well with the fish. I don't drink but their seasonal cocktail menus are always so enticing! The service was sub par both times we've been. The servers felt awkward at the table and weren't able to answer questions about the menu. I asked what their favorite was or what they'd recommend and they said they don't eat there usually. The young lady who took our order wasn't the person who greeted us and got us drink but initially she was a little ray of sunshine. Then the person I was with pointed out she couldn't keep her hands out of her very long hair and was finger combing it on the expo line with her hands! I'll be back bc the food is yummy! Seaside Oyster Bar is several hundred miles from the nearest Seaside location, but it could easily be picked up and moved to any beach town and fit right in. It's a point of humor that they used the Acronym SOB in their logo and marketing, but after eating there I can say that, "That SOB is a darn good seafood restaurant!" The ambiance puts it nicer than your run of the mill Fish Shack, and just below fine dining. A normal bar and grille atmosphere that's classy, not junky. We started with the Ahi Tuna Nachos that were incredibly tasty. My wife had the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl with more fish than we'd ever seen in a similar entree. It was very good and she couldn't even finish it all, the portions were so generous. I had my perennial favorite, Fish and Grits. I've eaten variations of this at dozens of restaurants from New Orleans to Wrightsville Beach to Miami. I had the Blackened Shrimp with SOB sauce. This was wonderful, and easily beats a majority of the offerings from higher priced locations. The SOB menu gives you choices of 3 different fish and 4 sauces, so I could eat 12 iterations of the same menu item. I plan to try them all. A cute curiosity was the privately labeled hot sauce that is bottled in an eye dropper. It's not terribly hot, and it's very imaginative. Overall we are extremely pleased with SOB and will be adding it to our restaurant rotation. read more

I grew up on the gulf Coast and lived 7 years in Hawaii so I have high standards for seafood and generally low expectations for seafood in the Atlanta area but this restaurant had me feeling like I was literally eating at a restaurant on 30a. We got the tuna tartare that was as good as any I've had on Kauai as well as fried green tomatoes that held their own with the best in the south. The shrimp po boy was also quite good although would have liked a remoulade on it instead of tartar sauce. My husband got the fried platter and thought it was delicious too.
