Love this place! First we had the pleasure of meeting our bartender, Gabe. Super friendly, very attentive & professional! Drinks came fast & were delicious! Great spot with friendly and attentive service and most importantly delicious food! I tried the blackened tile fish and have to say it was unlike anything I've had before. Such an awesome combination of flavors. I also had the tuna poke as an appetizer. I love the way they lined the bowl with baked seaweed. My wife ordered a tuna tartare (appetizer) as her lunch, whereas I had the pulled pork sandwich. Our meals were served very timely. My sandwich came with fries and was good-sized. On the other hand, and the reason I'm giving only 3 stars was - the portion size of tuna, considering the price (at $22 it was one of the most expensive items on the menu) was very underwhelming. We had white corn and crab soup, which had a lovely creamy texture and wonderful unique flavor, which I could not identify. We had grilled octopus salad with grilled zucchini. The warm zucchini was a pleasant surprise in a salad and the octopus was tender. Finally, we had the crab crusted seared halibu. The seared crab gave the beautifully cooked halibut a pleasantly surprising texture. The halibut was on a roasted red pepper coulomb or sauce, which added to its uniqueness. The service was excellent. If I had any criticism, the black paint on the ceiling made the restaurant dark. I think a little Mozart divertimento could add some class to the music background. Although I asked for a table for 1 in the dining room, I was seated far in the back crowded between two large groups. Overall, a decidedly underwhelming experience. The restaurant presents itself as upscale, in service, food and prices. None passed the test. We had made reservations a week in advance, and were seated quickly upon arrival. As I approached our table, I noted an empty butter wrapper on the floor under my chair. Mmmm ... they were not that busy, a quick look on and around the table would have easily spotted this. Certainly not a disaster, but an underwhelming start. My wife ordered the Jersey corn crab chowder, which she noted had very little corn but was very good. I ordered shrimp cocktail. Good size shrimp with a bland cocktail sauce, and I'm not sure the shrimp were cleaned correctly. Underwhelming. And, we watched as our order was delivered to the wrong table, walked back into the kitchen and then finally back out to our table. Not a significant delay, but a snafu that would repeat itself later. My wife ordered the seafood pasta, and I ordered the Cajun pork chop. Her shrimp were not fresh, having a "fishy" odor and taste. The marinara sauce was watery and tomato-y. Almost as if from a can. Underwhelming. My pork chop was ordered medium rare. The waitress came back to confirm "medium rare or just medium". And I confirmed MR. It was at best medium/well, more to the chewy well done end of the scale. And the Cajun spices were practically non-existent. After our order was put on our table, the server came out with a plate of hush puppies. We didn't order them, but she came back later and told us it was supposed to be plated with my pork chop. Underwhelming. We skipped desert. I had a glass of wine, my wife started with a special martini, and had a glass of wine with her meal. $160 before tip. Very appetizing, fresh, crispy salad, tasty and cooked well. Big enough for two people to share. Deviled Clams - 2/5. This may be personal preference as we tend to like raw bar. Not much experience with "Rockefeller oysters" or deviled clams, and only 3 clams were included. Wouldn't order again. Main dishes- Linguine with steamed clams - buttery white wine and garlic sauce. 4.5/5 cooked well, good amount of clams. Enough to be satisfying. Would order again if didn't want to try other options. Seafood Pescatore - 4/5. Excellent selection of mussels, shrimp, scallops and clams. Pasta was cooked al dente, and the red sauce was very flavorful and gave a little bit of kick from the spiciness. If you are sensitive to spice this may not be the option for you, although I didn't think this was overwhelmingly spicy but instead, just the right amount of spice. Dessert - espresso coffee and chocolate torte. This was a smaller, flourless torte that was ideal for sharing for two people who just want to satisfy sweet tooth. Not too sweet, perfectly chocolatey. Drinks - pinot nior, Hangtime wine and a glass of Prosecco, both complimented the dishes well. The drinks were over priced for regular house options. Service: Very welcoming and friendly. We didn't have a reservation and they sat us right away. Our waitress Adalia was very attentive and nice. She answered all our questions and offered suggestions and checked in on us frequently. We didn't have to wait to have our plates cleared, which was a big positive for us. She was very attentive and cleared immediately or offered us a box. Atmosphere: Dress nicely, the atmosphere is upscale. Music was a little quiet. It was smooth jazz which was welcoming and comfortable but it could have been a little louder. Upstairs there is a deck I believe and there is outdoor dining adjoining the street but at a 6 foot raised level with glass walls. The restaurant was nearly empty and the seating we were given was next to the front wall where the wallpaper was ripped. Great experience at Sea Salt! We went for a girls brunch and everything from the service to the food was great. Everyone loved their meal, but the star was definitely the baked eggs and the bloody Marys. We loved it so much we went back for dinner as well as to their rooftop. Best dinner we've had during our trip to Cape May, hands down. One of the nicer places by the beach. The menu is a nice change from a lot of the places nearby - very creative, light and summery, beautifully presented. We made a reservation just in case, but since it was during the off season we realized it wasn't really necessary once we arrived. We each had a drink, appetizer, and entree and it was the perfect amount of food. For appetizers we had the salmon tartare and the octopus, and for entrees the scallops and the halibut. There is breeze from the ocean (as you'd expect), so suggest bringing a wrap or light jacket if sitting outside. Ordered the clams on the half (as expected), yellowtail (decent), ceviche (tasty), avocado salad (ok), crab soup (ok but more corn than crab), lobster ravioli (bland, basic and don't recommend), seared scallops (tasty) and creme brulee (ok). So, overall, the food was mainly ok although some was bland and nothing was at all creative enough to justify the prices in my opinion. I entertain clients for my job and frequent restaurants all over the country. Although this doesn't make me a critic by any means, I wouldn't take my clients to this establishment. It should have been a red flag when this was the only restaurant within a 5 mile radius with multiple reservations, but we were starving! Started with mussels. Extremely small portion, tasted somewhat fishy, and multiple of the mussels were not open / cooked through. Wedge salad was fine. Ahi tuna was clearly reheated from a frozen pack. Linguini and clams was awful, terrible texture, topped with additional canned clams. Service wasn't great, very slow and a little bit rude. Very unhappy.
