Walked by Seared Cocktail Bar Steakhouse and Seafood in Petaluma couple weeks prior and had it in mind for my future visit. Perfect occasion after fantastic drive up North, over the Golden Gate Bridge, via the stop at the shore of Muir Beach!
Walked up to Seared and lucked out - it's a restaurant week! Full house! Indoor mask mandate was lifted the previous week, the timing couldn't be better for celebration & enjoyment! Happy is in the air!
Happy hour ends at 6pm so I had to pay full price for my Barrel Aged Vieux Carre! Barrel aged rye whiskey, Carpano Antica, Benedictine, Peychaud's & Angostura bitters. You will, with no exception, smack your lips, guaranteed! If you happen to be here 3-6pm Wed-Sun, take advantage of HH!
Rum Forrest Rum. White Spiced & Dark rum, orgeat, banana liqueur, fresh passion fruit pineapple orange & lime juice, served in your exotic tall blue ceramic tiki glass, garnished with lime, lemon, black cherry. Go ahead, enjoy!
Came to find out from Rob (Robert Y) that the Restaurant Week exceptional menu is being served the very last day - in fact, the very last couple of hours! Every dish on this special menu differs from regular offerings, comes highly recommended by your barman and a man who was not only brought up here in Petaluma, but also loves cooking, and has been making it work for several lockdown months in his experimental kitchen at home!
No brainer to make fine selections.
1st course, Butternut Squash Bisque. Crab salad, lime Crema, chives. Creamy delicious!
Beet + Strawberry Salad, baby mixed greens, Point Reyes Toma, roasted beets, strawberries, pistachio, pickled onion, citrus vinaigrette. Damn! Every bite, couldn't be fresher! Like it got picked up off your private garden just moments before assembly & serving time!
2nd course, Wagyu Flat Iron. Beeman Ranch flat iron, coconut curry mash, heirloom carrots, "pho" Bordelaise, scallion + garlic butter. Drop the mic!
Shrimp + Grits. Wild gulf prawns, Highway 1 grits, smoked Andouille sausage, green onions, potlikker brodo. What?! Wild prawns?! Yep, and they are wildly colossal! I was just visiting in Atlanta GA and these here stand up to Southern, with pride! Potlicker refers to the broth and juices left at the bottom of a pan after you cook something. Similar to bone broth. You're essentially getting the excess of something. And as it turns out, it's all incredibly good for you!
3rd course. Chocolate Pot De Creme. Vanilla bean whip, miso caramel, chocolate crunch, blackberry. You will lick every last bit of it, spoon it up off the bare walls of the glass jar, I promise you.
I'm coming back to Seared very soon! Shall I meet you there?
*Just picture a great big steak --
Fried, roasted or stewed.
Oh, food,
Wonderful food,
Marvellous food,
Glorous food!
