Onto the food- Bahn Xeo ($13) - Vietnamese crepe! Very flaky skin with delicious shrimp and abundant pork toppings Tom Yum Goong soup ($6) - decent broth if not slightly weak, but with robust toppings of several mushrooms, tomatoes, and green tomato-like thingy. Decent portion for the price, too. Heritage Pork Bahn Mi ($10) - flaky bread loaded with pork belly and pork shoulder meat! I liked the softness of their bread and the inclusion of jalapeño slices and chunky cucumber sticks within. Only issue was that the pork was a bit over seasoned and salty. This is a great addition to edgewater area since edgewater doesn't really have many options for Vietnamese food. Great spot to recommend for groups of friends and families. So happy that I found this gem! At first, I was a little skeptical pulling up to a mini plaza and finding SEAK tucked away in the corner, but don't let that stop you. The food, service and my overall experience here on a Saturday night was perfect. The waitress and I wish I remembered her name was great, accommodating and extremely on point with her check-ins. For the appetizer, the fried calamari was ordered. The fried calamari was filled with flavor and crisp to perfection, the calamari also came with a sweet sauce that added an extra kick. For my entree, I opted for the chicken pad thai and wow, it was good! So rich in flavor warmed to perfection and delicious. I would definitely say that my experience here was great. SEAK serves different kinds of food originating from the Southeast parts of Asia (as indicated in the name). This includes Thai options, Vietnamese options, Singaporean options, and more. This restaurant has a beautiful view of the skyline of NYC, which makes me want to come back at night. I'd also want to come during the summer so I could dine outdoors by the water's edge. I was satisfied with everything That I ate, but not totally blown away by anything in particular. Both of my friends did not enjoy their Pad See Ew and so did not finish it. The Thai Tea wasn't overbearingly sweet and was a good compliment to the spice of Singaporean Curry Noodles. The Chili Salted Chicken Wings were flavorful and not too spicy. The Chicken Satay was okay, the peanut sauce wasn't my favorite. My favorite dish was the Singaporean Curry Noodles! SEAK is worth a visit if you're in the area, but there may be better Thai or similar food elsewhere. It would be a cute place for a date for sure. Have you ever been to an establishment that everytime you go, it just keeps getting better? SEAK is just that. In a previous review (which magically got deleted..hmmmm?), i had stated that the lunch specials are small. Im still on the fence about that, i have branched out from my typical pad thai lunch special here. Ive since had a few of the curries as a lunch special, and feel the curry sizes are great and filling at that. Also, as an app for the lunch special you have 3 choices of soup, 2 of which are veggie friendly. The sizes of the lunch special soups are big, and very filling. the tom yum veggie and the Canh Chua Vegetable Soup are phenomenal in flavor. Here i was thinking the soups for lunch special would be less than par, but i was wrong. Craving a Veggie banh mi? SEAK as you too. Its very filling, fresh, perfectly toasted and will gladly hit the spot. Not too messy either. I am so happy they have this option on the menu. Beware, it has a nice kick of spice to it! Pad Thai-pretty good, i feel its been a little inconsistant here, but overall i dig it. Green Curry- amazing flavor. soupy just like the real thing from the motherland. First off, not every south east asian restaurant will carry this curry, so when you do see it, try it! Its soupy like it should be, spices and flavor shine through the coconut milk. Dessert? I always make room for you, and the mango sticky rice is my fave here so far. its not your typical mango sticky rice, but its absolutely stunning to look at and even tastier to try. Share it with a date, because it comes with two chargrilled mangos. You may have seen a caramelized glaze on a creme brulee, but SEAK enhances the char-grilled mangos on a stick with the same type of caramelized top. on the side its paired with rice and black rice with a coconut and mango sauce on top. i loved the plating and i loved this dish even more. I have gone to Seak twice in the recent weeks and I thought the first time I went was an off day. While I love the ambiance here, when I think of Thai food, I imagine a range of flavors hitting my tastebuds bite after bite and before I know it I hit the bottom of my piled high plate. I would say both recent experiences, were slightly underwhelming to both me and my friend's palate. I found that the dishes we ordered were overall blander than I usually expect when I go for Thai. For reference, we ordered the pad thai with crispy tofu and the pad kee mao with beef. Even still, the ambiance was rustic and modern all at once, the service was amazing (our waitress was the sweetest!) and the location is awesome as well. There is plenty of seating, lots of social distancing, and plenty of parking. Those are all pluses! Also towards the back of the restaurant there are killer views overlooking the water and the NYC skyline. While I wouldn't personally deem it a date night spot, I would recommend it as a place to catch up with a friend over a casual meal. read more

The chairs are hella uncomfortable. I need seventeen back massages when I'm done eating here. C'mon, Seak! Get us some comfortable chairs. I love the pho but the chicken slices are so long, I can't scoop them into my huge spoon! I have to ask for a knife every time to cut the chicken. I've eaten at Seak more times than I can count. The pho is exceptional. My go to items are always the spring rolls(chicken and shrimp ones), mango limeade, and a pho tai. My server Joann was so kind during the visit. She really paid attention to what we needed and had no issues bringing out extras of whatever we asked for. Sauces, napkins, utensils, we had it all. Love this restaurant and I always come here whenever I'm in the area. This is my go to restaurant after a day at Sojo spa. It's reasonably priced, conveniently located (across the street from Sojo and next to Trader Joe's and Mitsuwa), and the food and service is exceptional. It's so hard to find Singapore noodles, but they serve it here and it's the best I've had, with all the right flavors and a good amount of spice. You can tell just by the color that it'll be good. I also am a fan of their banh mi frites that I get whenever I come here as well. If you are in the area and don't know where to eat for lunch or dinner, I definitely recommend coming here. There wasn't much of a wait either which was great because we were starving, and they have a lot of seating. read more

When I go for Thai food, I expect a combination of sweet/ spicy/ sour/ salty. My dish was lacking all of those things, I had to ask for Sriracha so I could eat the dish. I think I made better stir fry when in college. I might go back to give this place another shot, but I'm not sure based on this bland experience. We came here as our first "outing" post pandemic. Seak has outdoor seating on an almost boardwalk/balcony area overlooking the New York side line. The added lights along the railing make for a very cozy and romantic atmosphere. Tables are set at socially distant spaces and all waiters and staff wear masks. For the food, i was blown away! Im not a huge fan of curries, but even the curry was delicious. Grilled garlic shrimp summer rolls: very cute rolls with a delicious grilled shrimp in each. If i could have just a bowl of the shrimp, i would! You could taste the char of the grill on each shrimp. The peanut sauce accompanying the rolls was also just the right amount of peanuty and salty. Chili calamari: this wasn't on the menu, but a dinner special recommended by the waitress. Definitely would come back just for these. It was served on a small bed of lettuce and onions with a tangy chili sauce. Unlike other calamaris i've tried, each piece was big and plump with a light batter adding just the right amount of crunch. Jumbo lump crab fried rice: the waitress also warned us that this dish would be extra fishy, but we thought it was the right amount of craby and seafoody. Many asian and thai or viet foods have fish sauce, so it was an expected amount of fishy. This was our favorite dish of the night- it goes excellent with limes and hot sauce (which you can ask for on the side). Massaman chicken curry: i liked this more than i though. I dont particularly like spice-y and fragrant foods but this might have turned a new leaf for me. The chicken was thinly sliced, but the zucchini was in large logs. I think i would have enjoyed it more if everything was cut to the same bite sized pieces, though. The service was excellent and our waitress (Joann, I believe) was very sweet and attentive. This restaurant is also BYOB and they gave us glasses and an ice bucket to keep our seltzers cold. Overall, i have high regard for Seak- they have excellent service and excellent food! Definitely a must go date spot for anyone who enjoys Thai/Viet food. read more

It's definitely more of an Asian fusion place rather than a traditional Vietnamese or Thai restaurant. The food marked as spicy isn't spicy at all and they can't change the level of spiciness for you. However, they did bring out sriracha, chili paste, and a jalapeno mix out for me so that I can mix it into my food. They have both outdoor and indoor seating which was nice since you can sit right by the water. The prices were what you'd expect them to be in that area. All in all, I'd probably come back again to try some of the Vietnamese food but probably not the Thai options since I prefer my Thai food spicier and it didn't have that authentic taste to it. read more

I also LOVED their pork bahn mi and need to go back to try their beef bahn mi. I have also tried their curry which was flavorful as well. The location is great - it's in the Trader Joe's lot so if there's a wait you can go browse around there for a bit. Anyways, I've ordered food from here on Uber Eats and then I finally went there in person one day. If it's nice out, the back area has beautiful views of NYC. The pho here is good, I usually just get the beef pho combo. When I was there I also tried the frozen coffee drink and I definitely recommend getting that. I went to SEAK for lunch and ordered the Bun Special Vermicelli Noodle Bowl. It had a Vietnamese spring roll, grilled pork, and pork meatballs. This dish was tasty; the Vermicelli noodles had more flavor than those at other places, and the meatballs were flavorful too. It is also more filling than it looks. It came with a soup (I got the Canh Cua Vegetable Soup), which was too sweet for my liking. The price ($14) was reasonable. Our waitress and waiters were very friendly and attentive. The service speed was good. There is plenty of indoor seating as well as some outdoor seats. There is a great view outside right next to the Hudson River looking at New York City. Overall, SEAK has tasty Vietnamese and Thai food with good service. There were several other options on the menu that looked very appetizing, especially on the dessert menu that I would like to try in the future.
