Ate here on April 3,2026- Although we didn't have a reservation, they made room for us. It was packed because of Easter Weekend. They were slammed, but you'd never know it. Service was exceptional, felt personal, like they really cared that, not only was our food good, but that we were satisfied with even the small details - my soy allergy was a big deal - and she split the meal into food I could eat and food I should avoid. Very stylish and we were excited by the atmosphere (be aware that it is extremely loud if you have hearing issues). Service was friendly, quick and pleasantly efficient. Wines tried were well chosen and solid pours. The food was uninspired tonight. The fra diavolo seafood dish might better be called boring diavolo. The red snapper was tasty however--crucial were exceptionally interesting accoutrements that brought the rather dry fish to life. We LOVED this experience. Food was wonderful, wine selection was awesome, our server Colby was so kind, and the restaurant experience was so thoughtful. We were in town for a wedding and decided to have a late wedding anniversary celebration here. Seabird pulled together a wonderful experience for us. We shared the raw oysters, split the Caesar salad, experienced the shrimp (our server Colby surprised us with these after our bonding over shrimp-gate), and enjoyed the andouille sausage deliciousness. Took my girlfriend here on a date. The space is suitable for a casual night out or your best attire. The food was an experience in itself. The staff's insight and expertise only made it even better. We started with their oysters which were some of the best we've had. The fried oysters had a distinctive flavor that we enjoyed. I decided to order two small plates, although I can't remember their names. You can't go wrong with any choice. Despite being called "small plates," they are more than generous servings. Great service and food , I stopped by on Friday when I arrived in town for a wedding and enjoyed the raw oysters and a glass of wine. I ended up coming back for brunch on Sunday before leaving and I am so glad I did. I ordered a blackberry mimosa and vanilla cortado. For my main course I enjoyed the fried fish and grits - oh my goodness they were so delicious. I will say I've tried a lot of fish and grits but this has been the best so far ! Three friends and I had brunch last week. It was our first visit (except for one friend that's been here a few times). We waited about 10 minutes for a table which was fine since we didn't have reservations. The menu was limited, but maybe that was because it was a Sunday. We decided on buying a bottle of wine, but was quite surprised at the prices. The least expensive was $52 (the top end was $70)!! We were a little stunned. Many restaurants have bottles of wine starting in the mid $30's. This place isn't a fine dining, so why the high prices? This place was a diner, not fine dining. Two of us ordered the shrimp and oyster po-boy sandwich. Too much bread, two shrimps and maybe 3-4 small oysters. It was very disappointing. And it was $20. One friend ordered the Caesar salad with fried oysters. The salad was overly drenched in dressing. When she mentioned that there was way too much dressing to the waiter, he barely acknowledged her and walked away. He should have offered to bring another salad (not oysters) with dressing on the side. Our vegan friend loved her dish. Maybe as far as the food goes, we were on a off day. I see lots of 5* reviews. For us, it was 3*, maybe even2*. I expected more of this place based on friends reviews and Yelp reviews. Very disappointed. read more

Seabird is my husband's and my favorite restaurant in Wilmington. Tonight we had catfish...and cioppino. Fabulous! Plus my husband had oysters to start, and the Chef sent over a dish of their Lemon Ricotta Ice Cream (best ice cream I have ever had!). The food is phenomenal (delicious...creative...beautifully presented) and the service is great. Definitely make a reservation! It's a popular spot. We ordered the seasonal sweetheart latte, which had a lovely combination of flavors with honey, vanilla, and elderberry. It was tasty, and the latte art was beautiful! Incredible! Every single thing I put into my mouth was amazing. The oysters were delicious and decently priced. My smoked tuna and tomato dish was bursting w flavor. I enjoyed every bite. My friend got the melon salad, which he said was great. And the carpaccio had so many flavors as well that he couldn't keep up. The cod puppies were a little bit of a letdown. It's just fried pieces of fish, which were delicious, but the portion was overwhelming and too much fried going on. I'd put it on the appetizer list and shrink it down s notch. Seabird hands-down has that covered The only problem I have is that the menu rotates so the oysters I had last time I will not have again so in the future I will be writing down the oysters after I have devoured them so that when they are on rotation again, I can get them one more time. Never had a disappointing time here and have been here three or four times in the last month. The only issue I have is the food was so good. I forgot to take pictures lol There was a composed salad and I believe it's tuna or it looks like it's composed in a ring mold very elegant and beautiful ... we also shared the Apple Pave ... it was quite interesting as I've never had it before. The next time we were at seabird We shared two dozen oysters and had salmon wrapped in a banana leaf ! That was pretty incredible, the presentation alone was magnificent. and the cocktails are delicious as well. Always something interesting on the cocktail menu. This is an easy dinner for me. We went to Seabird for my fiancé's birthday dinner. From start to finish, it was a perfect experience. We were each brought a slice of cornbread; mine was gluten free and my fiancé's was regular. The raw oysters were absolutely incredible, as were the sauces that came with them. The oyster Rockefeller was delicious and could be made gluten free. The entrees consisted of some of the freshest seafood I've ever had. For dessert, we chose ice cream, which were creative and innovative flavors. Sean was INCREDIBLE. A splurge, to be sure, but everything we ordered was very nicely prepared. We had two of each of the three types of oysters they had available, and they were delicious and cleaned very well. The Dukes, though very tasty, were no more than a teaspoon's worth of meat. The others were a bit larger. We had the soft shell crab, which was very good. My wife and I would advise trying everything plain before using the various sauces provided. The sauces were very nice, but you'll want to know how the food tastes on its own. The fried ramps were not what I expected - no garlic flavor, and without much bite. Putting the sauce on those was an improvement. We split the swordfish schnitzel with spaetzle, which was fabulous. The bit of spinach served with it was a bit overcooked for a Yankee, but probably perfect for a Southerner. We ordered this even though my wife and I are not big swordfish fans, which proves if it's done right it's going to be good. Service was extraordinary. We asked several questions about the source of the food and various wines, and the server had an in-depth knowledge. When we were trying to decide on a bottle of wine, the server brought out several samples for us to taste, which was great. If you're looking for moody and romantic, this isn't your place. It was daylight out, and the room was well lit, with comfortable, casual decor. It worked well for us. If you order modestly, it will run about $75 each, but if you're in the mood for a splurge it is one of the few places in town we have found to be worth it. read more

Seabird was our favorite when we were in Wilmington. You will be astounded by the excellent service and delicious food. We came at about 9 pm and sat at the bar. The bar stools were so, so comfortable and they have hooks for your purse! The important parts: the bartenders were very knowledgeable and friendly and they made the experience! The menu is small, but there is variety and everything we had was outstanding! They have an extensive wine/beer list and a nice variety of cocktails. We asked our neighbors at the bar what they recommended and one gentleman said "you could pick randomly anything off the menu and it would be good." He was 100% right. We chose to split small plates. The wedge was our favorite. It was so fresh and the shrimp were lightly fried just right. The steamed shrimp were delicious-we loved the accompanying sauce! The tuna was also perfect-a nice combination of flavors. The bartender convinced us to do dessert so my friend had the miso chocolate chip (salty) scoop and I had the sundae. The sundae was to die for! I loved the pecans with the brownie and the banana were just the right touch. I highly recommend you go to Seabird-you can make reservations. I was really looking forward to trying Seabird, but it was a very disappointing experience. We tried the NC Fritto Misto, which consists of bland tasting fried seafood, with a equally as bland dipping sauce for the low price of $20. I got the Eastern Cioppino - the broth was tasteless, even after adding hot sauce. The bread was was so soggy and disintegrated into the broth before I could eat it. To top things off, there was a giant cockroach crawling around the dining room! I brought it up to an employee and they said "Tis the season", and walked away without doing anything. The restaurant prices either need to decrease, or the food quality needs to improve. We paid $140 for this dinner, and if you told me I was eating food from Long John Silvers I probably would have believed you. read more

Seabird had oysters from three local sources including the Topsail Beach area. One of them was a bit salty, but all three were good. The oysters came with three optional toppings: a homemade tomato based sambal sauce, a vinegar based mignonette sauce, and fresh horseradish. I consider a mignonette sauce a requirement at a good oyster restaurant. A heavy tomato sauce loaded with horseradish overpowers the oyster. Seabirds sambal was definitely better than what you would get a a chain restaurant, but still not needed. The mignonette sauce was the perfect complement to the fresh oysters. The two that were very salty I added a touch of horseradish; the other 4 I only used lemon juice and mignonette sauce. The crackers were a nice touch, although not needed to enjoy the oysters. Next, I tried a smaller plate called their catfish and oyster pie. The waiter described it as an improvement on a traditional chicken pot pie. The light pastry was only on the top; underneath was essentially a stew of catfish bites, oysters, and creamy cheesy goodness. I would have been happy with a giant bowl of this "pastry" as an entree. Delicious, and the pastry was light enough to not overpower the rest of the dish. For my entree, I tried their swordfish schnitzel. I was intrigued by the idea of mixing german with seafood. A bit of mustard sauce, light battering of the swordfish similar to pork or veal schnitzel, and a grilled summer squash to go along side. A lighter fish would have been overpowered by the coating, but the swordfish paired well with schnitzel. A made it this far; might as well go for dessert right? They had a handful of desserts; I oped for the warm brownie trifle sunday. The waiter described it as the richest dessert, but I found it to be well balanced. Located a block from the riverwalk, Seabird is outstanding. The setting is on the corner of Market & S Front Sts we opted to sit on the sidewalk to watch the promenade. Logan, our server, was a delight. One of our party eats vegan, and it was a joy that the vegan dish was a highlight on the menu. Hen-of-the-woods, or maitake, the delicious center of a vegetable bouquet. Swordfish schnitzel was an intriguing blend of flavors and textures. Catfish reigned over a cushion of grits and succotash. The Eastern cioppino was crafted such that no two spoonfuls tasted the same. A slalom of flavors, textures and aromas that was an adventure. Blackberry cheesecake had a crisp crust. The rice pudding was almost brûlée. And a scoop of sweet corn and peach ice cream was too curious to ignore. Each were woven in a delightfully creative jeux de goût. We had one of the best meals we've ever had here! We were visiting Wilmington from Chicago and couldn't wait to try all the fresh seafood on the coast. We ordered a bunch - fresh oysters, the pork rib starter, the yellowtail tartare starter, the soft shell crab, and the crispy catfish. All were absolutely incredible. Our service was also great - our server was very attentive and the manager stopped by a couple times as well. The owner and executive chef, Dean, also greeted us at our table and was so sweet to send us one of his favorite desserts. Can't say enough good things about our experience.
