TL;DR: Elevated seafood with a casual, elegant feel. The mussels were delicious! Eats: For appetizers, we had the seaweed focaccia, raw oysters, and asparagus. All were tasty. As an entree, the mussels came with bits of delicious smoky bacon, which was delectable--I'd order it again. And for dessert, we shared the s'mores-like donut holes that we all enjoyed! Drink: The Rainy Daze hazy IPA was refreshing with a good hops flavor to it. Plus it's local! Atmosphere: The overall restaurant has an intimate, moody, coastal vibe. Our server was calm, friendly, and just the right amount of attentive. Would recommend!
Look this place was recommended to Us by the individual at high side distillery and it did not disappoint. We were very fortunate to get there during the oyster happy hour special. So we decided to get a half dozen oysters and some ceviche. The oysters were extremely fresh you could taste the quality of each type, and the difference in taste profile based on where they were caught The ceviche was extremely light and had such a tender taste in your mouth when you paired it with the oil based sauce around it. I was really impressed by the kombucha they had on tap. It paired so nicely with the different oysters and the ceviche that we got. Because we were there around 2:00 p.m. the Ambiance was extremely relaxed. You could tell that people were there to enjoy oysters, good conversation, and have a nice relaxing afternoon. Our server was extremely attentive and I was really excited when she told us her story about the other servers finding a pearl in one of the oysters Hands down I would want to come back here and do the special try different side and a little bit more of that wine
I went for my birthday dinner and had a magical time! The service our waitress Audrey delivered was exceptional! We ordered two rounds of the bread because we could not get enough! I recommend trying to get your name in early, and visit a winery while you wait. We opted for outside seating and the food came out at perfect times! We will totally be back!
My friend and I ordered the chilled gazpacho with spot prawns to share and it was very flavorful but ultimately overpriced at $20 for a small bowl. Had to try this place out though as it has really good reviews. I don't usually prefer spending more money for less food but the menu selection does offer a nice range of choices for both the picky and flexible eater alike.
I need to start off by saying this Seabird used to be one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I was naively in great hope that they would have their incredible seaweed ice cream, but to my utter dismay, was sadly informed by the waitress that they no longer had it. It was truly one of their most memorable desserts in which prompted me to take a flight straight from LA, hop onto the ferry straight from the airport and onto Bainbridge just to experience their masterpiece once more. It was just less than a year, and seaweed ice cream is no longer. When I first tried this restaurant a year ago, they had a masterfully curated menu. The menu this year is minimal, with a sadly disappointing dessert selection. I received this seemingly half assed "pink peppercorn strawberry shortcake" at the table. The cream not even a full quenelle, but a misshapen floof. The strawberry peppercorn flavor profile, an underdeveloped combination that weeps. The focaccia, not something to write home about. The carpaccio, was probably the only thing I felt retained some ounce of their original culinary passion. Perhaps Seabird is another victim of shrinkflation, stricken by the economic downturn that incited this depressive flop of a selection (which, pictured, at the peak of summer). One of my biggest wishes is to see their passion reinvigorated, the authenticity of what was once their crowning achievement to be restored. I hope the next time I make my trek back to Seabird, this wish will come true. For now, I'll continue to dream in memory of the remnants of Seabird past. They deserve to be the best of the best as they once were.
We took the ferry to come out to this restaurant wanting to specifically come to this restaurant and needless to say it was not worth the resources spent for the experience. I want to start off by saying, we were the only table forced to be seated outside, we were sat right by an aspect that was continuously leaking and making the area around us wet. The oysters are roughly around $4.5 per and it was not at all worth it, they were tiny and not satisfying, we ordered around 3 or 4 different types and they were all just too small to taste anything significant. Not to mention it took over 40mins to come out. The baked oysters with bread crumbs had so much bread crumbs, you could not at all taste the already small oysters, they were also overbaked the meat was dry and mix with the bread crumbs, it a like eating sawdust. Our server seemed nice but did not really come around to check on us at all even when our water jar was completely empty of water. The worst part of it all is the fact that they have the audacity to force a 20% surcharge for gratuity, mind you we only had total of 3 people. I understand some restaurants doing this, but this restaurant is far from those deserving of a 20% gratuity off the bat. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant, the restaurant next door: Basa looked way better and if we ever go back to this island, we will for sure go to any restaurant but Seabird.
The ferry to bainbridge is worth it to visit Seabird for the evening. This special restaurant features a rotating menu of seasonal Pacific Northwest seafood and small plates. The atmosphere is upscale without being stuffy. The decor is on-theme without being tacky. The food is beyond delicious. The space is split into 3 "rooms": the patio, the front dining room, and the back dining room which shares space with an open air kitchen. One wall is painted to resemble a foggy mountain-scape, which I was facing during my meal! It was stunning. Service was excellent. Our server was lovely, the host was kind, even the chefs were friendly. They served the food they prepared immediately and explained every dish to us which was such a nice touch! Best Brussels sprouts I've ever had. The sourdough toast with dungeonus crab was light, buttery, and unique. Every single thing about this place had me marveling to my dining companion. Just, wow.
We went for a day trip to Bainbridge for a fun lunch. The fish and chips were light, flaky and crispy. The tartar sauce was so yummy with capers. The French fries were crispy and just enough salt. My daughter had the clam and mussel dish with focaccia. They were so kind and left out the butter due to my daughter's dairy allergy and she just loved it. Many places won't do without dairy in fear so one will send it back but she was so excited they were able to do it. During happy hours the oysters are an are some price ten per six busy order in quantities of six. They were super fresh and delicious. My husband's old fashion was the best we've had, the bartenders know how to make a well balanced cocktail. Their Chardonnay was crisp with notes of apple really great with fish. The restaurant is upscale casual. Really comfortable not too quiet or loud and inviting. It's definitely a small place so expect a wait. Our wait was 20min we looked around shop.
Stopped in during happy hour. When we walked in we were greeted and told the wait would only be a few minutes. We were sat less than 5 minutes later. The server explained their happy hour deals and we took advantage of the two buck shuck where you get a dozen oysters for $24! We also ordered the crab toast and I had a cocktail. We enjoyed the oysters and their accompaniments! I especially enjoyed their hot sauce and vinegar mix. The crab toast and my cocktail (the kokomo) were excellent as well!
We came (kind of last minute) as one of our 25th wedding anniversary celebratory dinners at Seabird, as I've been wanting to try them for some time now. Plus it was a great early spring day to spend on Bainbridge Island. I made reservations for 5pm, but we arrived early and they were able to promptly seat us and gave us complimenatry champagne for our celebration! I'm so glad we did come early, we were able to partake in the Happy Hour Oysters! The HH oysters were the Jade oysters from Sequim Bay - briny and delicious! We also ordered the Glazed Beets, Maitake Mushrooms, Dungeness Crab Toast, and Roasted Giant Pacific Octopus. Everything was delicious, but the absolute highlight was the Maitake Mushroom dish! We were too full to partake in dessert, but the meal ended with this cookie that was so good I asked if they sell it!!! They don't (yet), but were nice enough to send us off with a couple more! I want to compliment the Seabird staff for an awesome night and their great service! We will be back!!!
What a lovely dinner we had on Saturday. The weather was perfect for a spot on the patio. Service was as great as the people watching. And the food? Delish!! We started with oysters, which were tender and yummy. They came with a housemade hot sauce that was so good, we bought a bottle! We loved the crab toast and the roasted mushroom dish. The halibut was very tasty - a little drier than what we typically prefer, but with great flavor. Dessert was also tasty - orange mousse and chocolate cake for me, ice cream for him.
Right on the corner of the main street in bainbridge, this is where the HH (happy hour) is at! They have something called a "two buck shuck" where you can get a dozen oysters for $24. Naturally my fam, we ordered two dozen lol These oysters are smaller than the ones in the bay area but does not lack in taste and satisfaction. We all LOVED these and were super happy with our choice! Also, the staff was extremely sweet and were all very knowledgeable with what questions we did have for them. You really can't beat this deal! If you get there early enough you can sit in the outside patio and soak up some sun while enjoying your meal. P.S. order yourself a nice glass of chardonnay to pair with those oysters CHEERS!!
Went here for happy hour oysters for $2 a piece! There was already a line of people waiting just before 4pm as the happy hour is only 4-5 pm! Really fresh oysters and we really liked their house made hot sauce as well. Lovely cocktails and also local beers as well. Waiters were nice and a nice ambience though it is not a huge place so be sure to go early if you want to have the happy hour oysters!
TL;DR: If your taste leans modern & sharp, this is your destination. (3.8 across the water 5 for the area) Food: Oysters were fresh and clean, exactly what you'd hope for. The fish sandwich was solid, but the wheat bun held it back. Potato roll would've made it it. Cocktails were mixed: the spritz was too sweet / unbalanced, but the strawbanana field one was dialed in. Could've just ordered wrong. Vibe: dim, modern, open kitchen. You can feel the care going into everything. No pretense, just good execution. They allow children in the restaurant. - do with that as you will. What could be better: The wheat bun on a fish sandwich pretty much sums up how I feel about this place. Small food and drink tweaks would make this a place I would plan trips around. read more
Great location for an aesthetic dinner or date night; not the best bang for your buck or the best spot if you're purely optimizing for food only. We ordered their seaweed caesar salad, albacore crudo, cauliflower, clams and mussels, and salmon succotash. Food was fine, not amazing. Our favorite dish was the clams and mussels which were cooked perfectly, and the broth was delicious. That being said, value just wasn't there in my opinion. The albacore crudo was $23, and it was a tiny little bowl with cubes of albacore. The caesar salad was $17. The clams and mussels were $27, and there was probably a total of 15 clams and mussels in the entire dish. The salmon was $36 and was the size of my palm. Seabird also charges a 5% service charge on the total bill that is separate to gratuity/tip. Service was friendly. Overall, it's a cute spot for a night out, but I'm not sure I'd come back. read more
Seabird had been on my radar screen and bookmarked since my four posted tips back in 2022 & 2023 (too bad Yelp is removing this feature in June 2025). I had the opportunity to finally dine onsite after attending a celebration of life memorial at Kiana Lodge back on 4/6/25. I figured I should grab a meal before catching the Bainbridge Island ferry back to Seattle. I was glad to have snagged a two top spontaneously stopping in. Definitely if one enjoys fish, shellfish, and seafood, this is a worthy detour. I enjoyed my Seabird Old Fashioned with bourbon, molasses, aromatic and orange bitters ($16) and thankfully a water carafe was placed on my two top. Double the hydration, helps mitigate the effects - just saying. I started with the Scallop Crudo - Weathervane scallop with ginger ferment, vanilla bean oil, sea buckthorn, habanada, daikon radish and yuzu granita ($21). Very nice composition but allowed the scallop to shine through. I also had the fried Sablefish and Chips, where the sablefish was wild-caught off the Washington Coast. A pricey miss for me ($28). The pickled dulse tartar didn't quite appeal to me and I should just stick to sablefish prepared as I'm accustomed, not coated and fried. The did take majority of the pommes frites/fries/chips home - where The Homie feasted on it later at home. Interior was pleasant enough. Service was okay, but being a solo diner, the tables adjacent to me were paid more attention to. That's fine, I wanted to give it a try, pay my bill, and catch a ferry. No reason for lingering and soak in whatever vibe was going at the time. I'm glad to have tried Chef Brendan McGill's spot which is hyper focused on the freshest fish, shellfish, seafood, harvested seaweed, and all things Pacific Northwest. I've enjoyed his other restaurants in downtown Winslow. I also noted recent press that the forthcoming summer season will bring expanded hours, takeout, and new menu items. read more

Terrific from start to finish. This seafood-focused revamp of the old Hitchcock space is delightful. We shared all of the dishes family style: agedashi fritters, mushroom toast, beets, dungeness taiyaki, shrimp schnitzel, rockfish and sablefish (the last two were entree portions purportedly, but were honestly more diminutive than many of the starters - the shrimp schnitzel and the mushroom toast were very generously-sized; the rockfish was perhaps 3-4 oz). The little touches really made each dish (yummm pepper cress on the taiyaki = my new favorite garnish). We enjoyed everything, down to the complimentary macarons (a nice sweet bite that supplanted dessert for us; we were too full). Service was friendly and efficient. We'll be back for sure. read more

Seabird is a special restaurant, nestled on the Main Street of Bainbridge. It's a really unassuming restaurant but once you walk in you'll know that the staff and kitchen really care about what they are doing there. I had a light dinner, I ordered the kelp ceasar. I've had many salads in life but this is one of the tastiest ones I've ever had, to go out of your way to make such a great tasting starter shows dedication and effort, it was perfectly salty and had umami flavors but the greens were so light and tender. Finished off with a dozen and a half oysters from Baywater sheflsh co, they were offering Indigos, doubloons, and sweets. These were the best oysters of my entire trip, and I had multiple oysters from different places around Seattle. These were the freshest brightest tasting oysters I had by far. To wash it down I had a strawberry lime kombucha they carried on tap, this was bursting with flavor as well. Thank you for the fine meal! read more
I cannot say enough good things about this delightful restaurant. I keep recommending it to everyone we know. We came to Bainbridge and Seabird for a special occasion (a birthday celebration). We can't wait to come back. The hospitality was incredible, hitting that sweet spot of fine dining/special occasion while still being family friendly and clearly a neighborhood spot. We appreciated the attentiveness and friendliness of the server, the chef, and all the front of house staff who interacted with us. The food was incredible dish to dish. The freshest seafood, inventive flavors, and just plain yummy. Details: Great cocktails and wine We started with raw oysters, which included their in-house fermented hot sauce. The ceviche and the crudo were fantastic, featuring tender, silky tuna and scallop. Loved the roasted vegetables and the last salmon of the season! Desserts were a nice finisher - light enough to cap off a multicourse seafood dinner. One of our best, most memorable restaurant experiences because of the food + hospitality. read more

My first time in was over Memorial Day weekend and while it was pretty busy we were seated right away! My friend and I just stopped in for a drink and an appetizer so we ended up with a spritz, a kombucha, fries and oysters and everything was SO good. I really loved their oysters and they were probably the best I had all weekend! Our waitress was also such a gem and we were able to enjoy the patio on a gorgeous sunny day so extra points for the vibe. I'll definitely be back!! read more
The service was phenomenal, the drinks were well crafted, balanced and refreshing and the food was fresh and delicious. We started with the oysters and cucumbers and added on the seaweed focaccia that should not be missed. It comes with a salami butter I could buy in bulk as it was so delicious. The restaurant ambiance being directly off the Main Street was a lovely way to end a sunny Sunday on a long three day weekend. Highly recommend. read more
If you're visiting Seattle, then you have to check out Seabird for the freshest seafood dishes. We had trouble finding seabird at first because we didn't realize that the sign was hidden behind their special menu. This place does a good job harmonizing the seafood flavors of each dish and tend to rotate their menu according to when the ingredients are in season. The service here was very attentive and friendly. This place is dog friendly where you can sit outside and eat too. Half dozen oysters - came with indigo, Jamestown pearl, and miyagi. We really liked that you can taste a difference in each of the oysters whether it be either more/less of sweet/salty Mediterranean Mussels -had lamb bacon and used honey Meade. Was sweet and salty which was such a lovely combination. We really enjoyed this dish. Salish Blue Clams - had an acidic and tangy taste. The clams were good, but the mussels was a little better in our opinion. Crab Melt -When we went we ordered the Crab Melt it was one of our favorites! I had a little bit of the burnt part and their mousse canister broke down so we couldn't have the Parmesan in mousse form, but it was still yummy that we wanted more. Scallop crudo dish - it reminded us of lychee because of the texture and the sweetness that came from stone fruit. The sea beans added a leafy texture which we thought complimented the dish. Parsley Bucatini - The noodle dish was surprising good too. The anchovies were infused in the sauce and it was subtle/not too overpowering. Really loved the breadcrumbs on top to add a bit of crispy texture. Manzanita cocktail- was watered down and could use more tequila. Had crushed seaweed flakes instead of salt which was very unique and matched their theme read more

I'm in love this place. It has the best oysters--really the best local selection you can get. There is happy hour where its $2 oysters. Everything we tried was very beautifully put together and tasted wonderful. We tried: Cured sardines--Very beautiful flavors Dungeness Crab Toast--This place makes really good bread, and with this one the crab is drenched with tomato cheddar Mussels--the sauce on this was to die for Cranberry Pana Cotta--I usually dont love pana cotta, this one had wonderful flavor and texture change which I loved. Wakame Ice cream--This dish stole my heart. Seaweed ice cream, its a really great battle of sweet versus salty. Will definitely be back to try more things! read more
I came here with a group of four adults and two kids (a toddler and an infant) early in the evening and despite it being a very adult restaurant, they accommodated us and were very nice to our toddler. We basically did tapas and split everything. We tried the scallops, the bread, the brussel sprouts, fried sunchokes, a half dozen oysters, and the steak picanha. Everything was really good, but the brussel sprouts and the steak were outstanding! They also made a delicious sunchoke puree on the scallops which was delicious and locally sourced from Red Dog farm in Chimacum! The seabird martini was strong and briny and perfect. Overall, highly recommend for a date night, but the portions are pretty small with pretty steep prices so be prepared! read more

The service here was absolutely amazing. The servers were so well informed, and knew everything about each individual dish, and even about the Prosecco. We appreciated this very much. The food was absolutely amazing and no two dishes tasted alike. The oysters were so fresh, the albacore ceviche was delightful, the muscles were plump and juicy and very fresh with the light broth, the beats were very tasty, but my two favorite dishes were the mushroom toast, and the rockfish. Highly recommend this restaurant. They had craft cocktails. I thoroughly enjoyed my penicillin. However, my friend did not love her old fashion. Presentation was great. We were celebrating a birthday with some girlfriends, and the staff went out of their way to all sign a birthday card for her! it's the personal touches that make a huge difference! read more

Most of what we ordered was delicious, except for the woodfire half chicken. It was visibly burnt, and when we brought it up, our waitress insisted it was meant to be that way. Maybe I'm missing something, but all I could taste was burnt chicken--nothing else. If that's the intended flavor, it seems like a terrible recipe. read more
honestly. A solid place. If you're looking for seafood I'm sure this is the place to go. Although just came from happy hour oysters, $2 each oyster (for half dozen or dozen for two kinds of oysters )we ordered drinks and dessert. They were all quite delicious. but uuuber expensive. The dessert was $14!!! server was nice and loved the atmosphere. read more

Our friend was really excited to try this quaint restaurant on Bainbridge Island - she had been looking to go for a long time but didn't have any occasion until we were in town. I am so glad she decided to take us to Seabird. We walked in to a dark, intimate restaurant with spotlights here & there. It had a classy upscale vibe.. I almost felt out of place since we were bundled up in cold weather gear, raincoats, all of it (Seattle is cold for Hawaii folk ok! LOL). We were seated in the back of the restaurant, right in front of the open space kitchen. We noticed that they had left a card signed by all of the staff members, congratulating our friends for their belated anniversary. It was a very sweet touch from the restaurant. Our server was very sweet & soft spoken, she patiently went over the menu & recommended ordering style. She explained all of the dishes as they came out, and overall was really friendly! She gave us a list of recommendations in the Seattle area, which I thought was so sweet of her! Oh and we ran into her the next day around Bainbridge - she remembered us & waved! Okay onto the food.. there were smaller appetizers, larger portioned plates - and it is recommended that you share everything. Some of the items that we really enjoyed were: -Albacore Crudo: So good!! It was sitting in a watercress leche de tigre sauce. Our server said that they also serve the leche de tigre shot-style with some pisco.. so of COURSE we tried! It was savory and tangy! Totally up my alley haha. - Warm Beet Custard: think beet chawan mushi. I didn't know what to expect when trying this, but I'm so glad we did. There was a hint of dashi which was super nice. - Butter Poached Halibut: cooked perfectly, amazing brown butter sauce. I loved the roasted carrots as well. At the end of our dinner, they gave us cute salted caramels & a jar of salt that the chefs made(dried??) from the sea nearby. It was the cutest souvenir & it came back to Hawaii with me. I loved Seabird's thoughtfulness of the staff and how well though our their dishes were. Definitely will be back! read more

Wow. This may very well be one of my favorite restaurants in that entire Seattle metro. If you love fresh seafood, you HAVE to try Seabird. The menu is quintessential elevated Pacific Northwest cooking and I feel like I'm missing out if I don't eat here every time I come to Bainbridge. Their menu is seasonal, but they have small changes every single day to keep up with what is fresh and in season and everything is so delicious. That being said, don't be disappointed if you are looking at the menu online and decide what you want and then see that the menu item is not being offered. They do make frequent changes, so what you get in person may not match what you see online but everything is so delicious it doesn't matter. The menu concept is amazing and I love that they publish the tides every single day to somehow connect and ground the audience into how fresh there food is. I also love that they tell you exactly where ingredients are exactly sourced from or the name of the fisherman who cut the fish of the day. The small details really make the experience something special and integrates me into the beautiful environment of the Puget Sound. In some ways, I am sad that the menu rotates so much because there are exceptional dishes that I would love to have again and again, but also this gives a lot of room for innovation and experimentation, which is always super exciting. The first time I came here was in the fall, and I had a chilled corn and crab chowder. It was phenomenal and tangy and umami and the presentation was amazing. I also had the seaweed bread and the compound seaweed butter which was good, but I personally would recommend not getting bread to fill up on so that you could try more dishes. I loved their ceviche dishes and also they have amazing vegetarian dishes as well. The salsify with the brown butter and mustard seed was so incredible and the sable fish is cooked to perfection. Their fish dishes are amazing because the technique that they use poaches the fish first, so that it is always tender and melts in your mouth. Finally, the seaweed desert was also incredibly impressive and innovative, as there were multiple molecular gastronomy techniques and overall, I thought it was a really good value for the high quality of cooking. The service was really good and the wait staff is always super friendly and eager to answer questions. The second time I went back to Seabird, I felt like there were less dishes that impressed me, but I think that's at the cost of experimentation. My favorite dish was actually the vegetarian dish of Woodfire potatoes and leeks. Everything was just so texturally interesting with potatoes in two different ways, with cooked and fresh vegetables. My least favorite dish was the Dungeness crab with kohlrabi noodles because the noodles were just drenched in this really rich and decadent crab butter, that really overpowered everything else. Kohlrabi is a relatively tasteless root vegetable so by having such a fresh element being smothered by a salt bomb did it a disservice. Regardless, I think the quality of cooking has been maintained, and I highly recommend they recommend this restaurant for anyone in the area. Definitely make reservations in advance! Especially in summer months, I foresee this place getting a lot of traffic so be sure to plan ahead! There is very limited bar seating every night, so they frequently do have to turn away people. I love Seabird!!! read more

Just had the best anniversary dinner ever. Words cannot describe such an amazing experience. Food is next level especially locally sourced PNW everything. Oysters are next level. Local ingredients including locally harvested flora and fauna. Rockaway Beach! Mussels and halibut were perfect. Perfect cocktails and really great service from Anna and the team. This is an amazing place and well worth a special trip in the ferry to BI. Thank you to everyone at Seabird read more
I'm staying in Bellevue for a conference. I took the 505 express, hopped on the Washington Ferry and crossed to Bainbridge to experience Seabird. I didn't look at the menu ahead of time but rather decided to trust Yelp. Started with the Seabird Old Fashioned, then mussels as the main course. OMG. The mussels are simply amazing. Fresh, delicious, and the broth is worth every drop. Arguably the best I've had. The Old Fashioned is also delish. With molasses it was a little sweet for my taste, but not so sweet as to order a second round! The orange peel and bitters added a nice citrus profile. Then came dessert. For this I asked the bartender and went with the panna cotta. Honestly I'm not a rhubarb person but always up for an adventure. I'm so glad! It was outstanding and completely sold me on what rhubarb can do to a lemon tart. This is. It to be missed while in season. Overall, a very lovely dinner in a beautiful restaurant. This is most definitely a date worthy place. read more
Delicious seafood! My friends and I came in to grab some bites and ended up having a whole meal! I think they were having a popup so the menu was different. We ordered oysters- half sweetwater and half indigo. The indigo oysters were the best i've ever had, super fresh and meaty and delicious! We ended up ordering another dozen of just indigo oysters, but i think this was a popup menu item. We also got the clams which were delicious. We got dinner rolls which were so fluffy and used the sauce from the clams. We even ordered another order of dinner rolls (note that the price is for ONE roll, not an order.. we were unaware and caught off guard, but it was delicious so it was fine). Lastly, we got some drinks and they were quite strong. I got the espresso martini and it was pretty good! Great experience on this little island. read more
