This is a lively popular pub in a up and coming area. Lots of construction in the area right now but getting better all the time. Good place for a walk along the waterfront before or after your meal. My son loves the food here but personally I have been unimpressed. It's usually very loud and has a long wait. I don't drink beer so can't speak for it, but customers seem to enjoy it. I do enjoy ciders but they don't have any on tap, just canned. The root beer is excellent. I love a good Rubin but both times I tried it it was very soggy and falling apart, basically inedible. Burgers and fish and chips look good and my son enjoys the steak sandwich. I used to like the fries but the last few visits they seemed different and neither of us finished them. read more

I continue to return to Scuttlebutt because it is the last reasonable place to grab a beer and ok priced food. However, every time I visit, it never fails that something is wrong or off. This occurrence, I think, finally was the straw that broke the camel's back. I am sure I ordered a bacon burger, but a mushroom burger came out. There is no way in hell I ordered mushrooms. I hate mushrooms with a passion!!! The waitress stated she repeated it, and I said yes. But I don't know. My daughter and I both wanted a bacon burger. Again, hatred of mushrooms. Then, when I got the bill, I was charged a dollar for splitting our burger. Nowhere on the mine does it state this. If so let me know; I looked everywhere. My daughter wanted a ranch. I didn't, but I got one anyway and got charged for that, too. Lastly, my son circled on his kid's menu the drink and food he wanted, and the waitress came out with a large glass. So I got charged for a large beverage when we ordered the kid one. I'm done. I can't lower my expectations when the money I work hard for goes to waste. Get your business together. Expect better for your business and be proud of what you deliver to the public. But instead, you have prime real estate next to the water you are using to protect the below-standard service. read more

I have been coming to Scuttlebutt for years and years now. They have gotten a lot better throughout the years and it shows. Is it perfect? No. No place is. Pub food and great beer. The best fish and chips around. Panko breaded and not beer which is what I prefer. Service is pretty good but sometimes they take a while to come back to refill drinks or get another round. You gotta flag them down at times. Sit outside on a nice day and enjoy the water view if you can snag a table, it is more than worth the view. read more

Our family loves this restaurant, we have already been here a handful of times. Today we had lunch right when they opened and it wasn't busy at all. Our server, Michelle B., was super friendly & attentive. We did get served super salty fries (you can literally see the layer of seasoning) that made them inedible. She was so sweet & provided us with a huge basket of fresh fries & made sure we were satisfied. We also got their root beer float for the first time & the size of it was generous! Delicious! I took a star off because the kitchen needs to work on consistency and should have not served fries with that amount of seasoning. Always liked this place, try to go there at least a couple times of the year, but just went there and was very disappointed. We usually have fish-and-chips (as we don't eat much fried food at home) and we ordered our usual, but when it showed up it was different! Apparently they switched recipes for the breading. In the past it was more of a Tempura taste, fairly light and complimented the fish but now it is VERY HEAVY and kind of HARD. I realize everyone's taste is different, but it reminded me more of the cheap products you get in the freezer at the grocery store, not what you expect from a nice restaurant. I'm not even sure if the fish was good as it totally overwhelmed its taste. Hopefully they read these comments and there are enough of them so they go back to the old recipe, otherwise it will be a new fish house for me. read more

Great location for brewery, on the waterfront of the Possession Sound. After checking out a Yelp Event in Everett, wanted to check out one of the local breweries, a busy late afternoon crowd is always a good sign, as a single, I was quickly seated at the bar, with a food and a drink menu, seeing a Belgian Tripel, which is also 'one of their Best beers', hoping it would stand up against some of my favorite Belgians from a favorite Berkeley brewery, it didn't disappoint, great hoppy and fruity aromas, neither overpowering in taste, great balance and smoothness, which with a 9% abv can be lethal, meant to enjoyed slowly. While enjoying the Belgian, I was looking over the food menu, lots of tasty selection, and from the look at the tables, and views of the waterfront, everyone seemed to be enjoying all the choices. I decided on the fish and chips, service was quick, even being busy, the cod fish was crispy on the outside, tender and tasty inside, tartar sauce was good too, but not necessarily needed, the fish was great on it's own, flavorful and just the right amount of crispy outside, two good size pieces with a good amount of fried well chips was plenty for a late afternoon meal. Finishing off the Belgian, I opted to try the Lazy butt fresh hop ale, couldn't go wrong with a good helping of mosaic hops in the mix, crisp, refreshing and not overly hoppy, both beers went well with the fish n chips. Definitely will back to try both more food and beer selections. Great atmosphere, service was friendly and fast. Ended up taking a six pack of the Belgian to go ( might have to break out the stash of Fieldwork to do some comparisons?) parking was fairly easy on the streets or the parking lot. Good beer.. It's fine. Just fine. Pub food, okay service, and ok beer. The beer is probably good, just nothing my style on tap that night. We all had burgers and while those were good, it's the view over the water that sells you. If you're lucky to be able to sit near a window, or outside, take in the beauty of the sound. I don't know if it was an off night but service seemed very, very slow despite being half empty, and they were skimpy on the fries with the burgers. This is a fantastic brewery and eatery if you're in the area I highly recommend you stop by. It's right on the water in the wharf in like a bougie neighborhood. On Friday and Saturday they have prime rib so we ordered it and it was outstanding. They don't offer baked potato they only offer a diced potato covered in cheese and sauce which is excellent. The only other choice is rice. It came with some asparagus which is cooked perfectly as well. I recommend starting with a pretzel that comes with a beer cheese the pretzel is cooked perfectly. The 10 beers they have come out in a flight but it's 60 oz of beer so make sure you have somebody to split that with. All of the beers were pretty good the hazy I thought was a standout and the amber was excellent. Clean restroom and plenty of parking out front. read more

I wanted to love this place but I just couldn't. Waited about 20 for table on a holiday weekend. Got settled ordered clams and pretzel for appetizer. Now that pretzel was outstanding. Star of the show minus the brat on top but I didn't eat any. I just wish it wasn't of top of the pretzel. It had mustard and cheese dip and was huge. The bread is from a local bakery frozen they they bake it fresh. Real good. I got the seafood platter with halibut and asked for the scuttlebuds. Both were upcharges. and both both for a huge let down. The halibut was way over cooked. The potatoes cut in cubes with sour cream cooked in the middle with cheese melted on top was undercooked and a terrible idea overall. No salt or pepper and who cooks sour cream? Now the 3 huge shrimp and clams were amazing. My friend got the salmon with dill. The dill was flavorless and so were his scuttlebuds. Another had fish tacos but I was hardly any food. The other got the chick n sandwich with pastrami added. He loved his. And she said the fish was good. They ordere wine and a few of the fun bourbon drinks which I heard were All very sweet but fun just the same Our waiter disappeared mid meal and was expeditor food but someone else covered. Love coming to eat here, my family has been coming here for over 5 years, the menu is great and I've never had something I didn't like. The cooks do a great job here for sure. The service has always been pretty good. The only drawback is their food is so good there is always a wait, because people enjoy being there. My advice go a little earlier for dinner or lunch. My 11 mos old couldn't stop eating it! My fish tacos (grilled cod) on the other hand were quite disappointing. The fish was bland despite the seasoning on the outside. The mango salsa does look or taste as vibrant as I expect. Gosh I make better salsa than that! But I really enjoyed the clam chowder. My hubby thought the IPA was not as hoppy as the ones he's used to in Colorado but decent. SERVICE - despite the super busy night, our server was very attentive and checked on us multiple times throughout our meal! She's definitely a pro! Have been here a few times in the last few months as we recently moved here. Yesterday 11/29 the service was really bad. To start with me and my husband were waiting for a table to open and the hostess brought another table of 2 before that had just walked in. We went to order drinks and the waitress disappeared with my ID and when she came back with tried saying it was to verify out of state IDs but then she didn't verify my husbands ID and it has never happened any other time we have been here and we order alcoholic beverages every time. I've eaten here several times recently and the food has been very good. I had a bowl of soup with salad, the soup was jambalaya and excellent. The salad was very good as well, fresh veggies in it with no bad lettuce or old looking tomatoes like a lot of restaurants seem to be serving these days. A group of us came here for lunch and beers, and overall, it was a fun experience with beers worth trying. Since I'm a craft beer fan I had been wanting to check out Scuttlebutt Brewery, so was glad to have finally done so while we were in Everett. On a Saturday around lunch time the place was pretty packed. We wanted to sit out on the patio which looks out to the marina, but it was already full. We ended up sitting in the bar at one of the large group tables where it was a little hard to hear each other across the table, especially since the place was packed. Scuttlebutt seems the place to be at on Saturdays! They have a daily tap list with all different kinds of beers. They had one imperial IPA, which is the only beer I ended up drinking during our time there, as I really like hoppy beers, so this one tended to be the best one for me. All the other beers were too light for my preference, but since they offer such a variety here at Scuttlebutt, there's something for everyone here. Food was A-O-K. I ordered the Seafood Platter, as it was listed as one of the specialties. The platter came with two pieces of fried cod, three fried prawns and a bunch of small fried clam strips with beer-battered french fries. The cod was the best out of the bunch, but the battered skin was a little too much and thick for what I usually prefer. Same with the prawns. The clam strips were not really anything I'd order again. They were small in size and I mostly tasted the fry batter. Since the fries are cooked in beer, I was excited to try them; but unfortunately, they lacked the extra crispy texture that I was hoping for that you'd usually get with beer-battered fries. All in all, I'm glad I finally visited Scuttlebutt Brewery. The atmosphere was fun and service was awesome, but I most likely wouldn't order food here again. IPAs on the other hand, are something I'd come back for, just to see what their daily offerings are. read more

My significant other and I went out for my birthday tonight. We originally had reservations elsewhere, but after reading the owner's responses to reviews we were really turned off and looked for somewhere else to go a bit last minute. We decided we wanted something easy breezy and casual and came here. Once we arrived we were told the wait was 45 minutes which really was no surprise on a beautiful day (I am tried to called earlier to make reservations but couldn't get a hold of anybody...upon arrival and acknowledging the beautiful day and the NCAA playoffs...they probably couldn't even hear the phone, so no hate there). Once we were seated our server was so friendly and attentive, out drinks and appetizers came quick as did our food. Everything was perfectly cooked (we had a lot of seafood and everything was perfect and delicious, not overcooked or rubbery,etc.) Absolutely delicious, quick and wonderful service in the midst of chaos and plentiful portions. The ONLY thing I would have suggested was once we were seated we saw many open spots at the bar top. When we put our names in, they asked if we were over 21 and I wish they would have let us know that there was availability to sit at the bar. We likely would have had a few drinks and gotten a couple appetizers waiting for a table. Aside from that... fantastic. This will be our new go-to. read more

I'm not sure what's happening with Scuttlebutt. My husband and I used to visit regularly. The last few times the wait times for food have been unrealistic. A few weeks ago I called for a to-go order and they said they were not taking to-go orders as they were short staffed in the kitchen. I asked if there was a wait for a table to dine in and was told there was no wait but it would be at least an hour to get food. We chose to dine elsewhere. Today I called for a to-go order and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived to pick up the order and was told it would be about 5 more minutes. I went to the car and came back and was told it would be a few more minutes as they had a fryer that was down. I waited another 10 minutes and was told it would still be a few more minutes as only half of the grill was working so they had to cook everyone's food on half a grill. I chose to cancel my to-go order and dine elsewhere. The girl at the hostess desk was very understanding and checked on my order frequently. The manager seemed unaffected at my cancellation and did not even offer an apology. They were busy and as I was leaving they were quoting 30 minutes wait time for a table. I would guess that they don't really care about losing business as they continue to be busy. It's sad because the food is good (when you can get it), they serve great beer, and it has been a waterfront staple in the Everett area. We will miss dining here. read more

It was my first time coming here I was pretty excited ordering the spicy calamari by it self for $15 (was thinking with that price you would get a decent amount of calamari) end up having more tartar sauce than the calamari itself with a big lemon wedge underneath the calamari. (Didn't fell good spending $15) I was so disappointed on how much I spent for this spicy calamari by it self. With $4 more I could have gotten a prime rib meal or $2 more the verity of different seafood not including the calamari. I watch the news and there's so many of these kind of businesses around the area closing down because of the virus. I'm guessing they give customers a little amount of seafood for an expensive price to survive I hope some day they could have at least French fries included with this. This is a very popular place and many people come here for drinks and food. We came at their busiest time and they still held the house together. Their staff formed a good team and even though we had to wait a bit - they made a very good impression. Food was amazing. Had a honey mustard salad and seafood platter. Very satisfying dishes and tasted nice. Order fries! They came very fast, so if you are hangry - definitely recommend. Overall - a nice place to hang out. This use to be our favorite place to have a light dinner and some beers to unwind for the week we have moved so it was harder for us to make it in as often but stopping in for a dinner the other night and it was a Saturday so busier which is expected but we are a family of 4 so we knew we would wait a minute totally fine - but once we got our food we ordered it's as if someone had taken over the restaurant or kitchen staff or something and was a completely different company or cooks to say the least , my kids ordered frys and chicken strips came out cold as ever and the frys were just plane McDonald's under cooked frys or under heated or something and soggy and not a "skuttlebutt" type of food item we would expect usually there frys are actually more of a breaded or crunchy type fry and taste way better than what they serve now , my kids chicken strips came out to the table cold as if they didn't even get cooked or again heated however they do it. My husband ordered fettuccine Alfredo ..... this is the worst of all he received the plate and it was definitely just heated up and served with store bought bottle Alfredo sauce not the typical meal you would want to order at a "American food restaurant " but if your going to serve and have that on the menu at least try and make it taste ok for people to eat that was hands down one of the worst fettuccines I've ever tasted ! And the noodles were again lightly warmed up not good. My meal for the most part was actually alright I ordered there chicken sandwich and it out of all the meals tasted ok but again we have been here plenty of times and a reoccurring family that has even done many private birthday rooms there and have spent a nice amount on there food / beer and it's just disappointing to see such potential there and to go downhill so quickly I have other friends who have said the same in the past few months and they won't be going back ever or at least till it gets fixed - however service as always was amazing ! Keep up the good work there ! But ya food is not there strong suit and was in the past years we have been going - sad but again we won't be coming back ever or until things change.
