Tried to treat my 87 y/o mother to a nice lunch. There were three tables of diners, two had finished eating, and a few people sitting at the bar, two servers. The bartender approached, asked us what we wanted, as if we were in the wrong place. Seemed put out when we asked for a table. The food was very tasty. It was different in a good way. Our waitress was very helpful in helping give us suggestions. Very attentive. The feel of the restaurant was that of a small town cafe, but a cozy, clean feel. I had no idea Scout was a dog. I have a service dog and when we entered I was pleasantly surprised with the decor and for the love of dogs my husband had good people beer. I had lemonade. The classic 40's melt, and the ugly bird Sammy was delish. Mac and cheese was heavy but good. Brussels were just okay. The brownie shatter was to die for. And last but not least. We visited Scout's Pub for the first time today and were looking forward to taking our pups here, but we didn't have the best experience. We sat outside on the patio and it was full of flies, which can always be expected, but it was really bad and we were not able to eat comfortably. Our waitress was nice, but was not the quickest at ordering our food and getting refills during our lunch. Overall, the food was pretty good, but they need some kind of fly trap for the patio. read more

We made our first visit and plan to return. The decor is classier than the average pub, and the menu is a notch above.

We stopped in for drinks and had a great experience. Aaron the bartender was great along with the manager at the bar. We will be back!

Scouts pub had decent service with a friendly staff. Overall, the food was off a bit for a mixed American menu no real standouts that was moderately priced probably a little on the higher side. Our experience was that the chicken and the chicken sandwich was undercooked. The chicken nuggets for my kids meal had a funky flavor, almost like a cleaning product and my Pastrami dip sandwich was way overloaded with horseradish mustard, and just wasn't properly balanced really. What was good was the brussels sprouts that were roasted with bacon and balsamic they were fantastic! I've been there before during breakfast time and the food was better. It seemed because everything was off. Maybe it was an issue with the chefs or something along the lines of that it's hard for me to believe that almost every item we had ordered that day was off and they were still that busy. anyways I'll give it another try. read more

Never going back. Went there on Tuesday with a vacationing visitor. When entered and stood waiting to be seated (as the sign reads) the bartender wait person came over and asked 'how can I help you?'. As if he was puzzled as to what we were doing there?! He seated us when we told him we would like a table for two (obvious reason to BE there) he seated us...left two menus on the table and went back to the bar. Where he STAYED. When it became obvious that no one was going to serve us or even offer a drink option after sitting there for 20 minutes we left. Only 3 other tables were occupied and one table was finished eating and getting their bill. One table had 3 people and the other occupied table only had one person so it was not like they were swamped nor was it busy lunch time or dinner time. It was around 4:30 on a TUESDAY. I've never left a review for a restaurant but felt compelled to after our heart warming experience at Scouts. My fiancé and I decided to brace the snow/ice storm yesterday afternoon to go somewhere warm in hopes of finding a bite to eat after our power went out amid the storm. Multiple places were closed when we tried Scouts to find them open! There were 2 employees running the entire restaurant. The bartender Kat was working the whole front of the restaurant and informed us her manager was the only other person there making food for the 30+ (and growing when we left) customers. Kat was acting like superwoman to ensure each and every person, that they would be taken care of. She had a full bar of customers as well as probably around 10 tables full of people. Bartending, serving tables, etc. They had a limited menu because of the situation but the food came out in a timely manner and was delicious! it was truly a candid event that we will talk about for years to come. This was our first time at Scouts and we will 100% be back. Scouts TRULY cares about their customers. They went above and beyond for everyone during a historical weather catastrophe. read more

Service and staff are amazing. Food is off the chart the best food in all of West Haven. The only reason why they don't have five stars from me is because their air conditioning unit sucks. It's hot in there in the summer. They won't fix it for some reason it makes the beer and the drinks warm it's uncomfortable, fix your AC!!!! I visited this pub twice. Both times, the ambience was fun and comfortable to watch a game. The food portions were adequate. My only problem was the birria noodles were very salty. I think the soy sauce and the birria were cooked separately and once put together, the amount of salt was overwhelming. It wouldn't stop me from visiting Scout's though. read more

Been to Scout's many times and they always deliver on the experience. Staff is friendly and service is generally very good. Nice location in Westhaven. They have inside and outside dining. Outside is really lovely on these nice spring evenings! On weekends, you probably want to get a reservation as it can get crowded. Food is good with a great variety. This is Marshalls restaurant and has one of their better menus, in my opinion. Burgers and Sandwiches are all good. This time, they had just changed their menu to what looks like the summer menu. There was a burger that I really liked that was dropped from this menu, but I ventured out and tried the GOAT burger and it was an excellent option. The mushroom and goat cheese on top of a burger from Scouts, no problems with this at all! They have a nice selection of beverages including draft beers. On this visit, I was delighted to see they have Kilt the Cat, by Curio Brewing (local Franklin brewery). This is an outstanding beer that you don't often find on menus as it is a small brewery. read more

Second visit, this time for dinner. Great place in Westhaven, make reservations ahead of time with open table. No one was on patio tonight due to party to come later. We went to Scout's for the first time on Sun afternoon with another couple. We were the only diners in the restaurant. We waited 15 minutes for a server to take our drink orders. Finally, one of our party stood up and asked the host to find our server and them to at least take our drink order. Once our order was placed, our food arrived in about 25 minutes. not warm and the fish and chips were dark brown, almost burned. We asked the server to remake the fish and chips. She brought fish, but no fries. There was no follow up or apology from the manager after our request to remake the food. The food was mediocre, especially for the prices. Again, we were the only customers in the restaurant, so they were not overwhelmed. We were hoping to find a gem, but left very disappointed. There are many other restaurants in the area, my recommendation is to try them as alternatives. read more
