Service is friendly and good, but efficient is questionable as they recently introduced a flag based system where you put your number card on your stand and when your server notices it, they come your way. My only issue is this takes the natural check-in's of service away and while the idea is good in theory, execution is still a bit clunky as we had to seek out our server twice after having our card displayed for several minutes. Hayley, the late evening bartender this time, is one of the hardest working bartenders I've run across anywhere. A lot of my friends are service staff, many of them bartenders. So I know what it takes to do well in that. It's not easy. There is a lot of subtlety to keeping a bunch of people calm and content when they're drinking. She was serving the whole room, not just from behind the counter. She took the time out to (re)teach me play pool, something I've not done for decades. Then she checked back periodically to make sure I was interacting with other people and having a good time. A lot of the people she seemed to already know, but she was tending to each in a way that seemed appropriate to them. I was really impressed, and in fact extended my stay in the area by a day because I was having such a good time and wanted to come back the following night. And the food is decent (for a bar). The kitchen isn't available quite as late as the bar, which stays open surprisingly late. Still, they've planned for that and have 'brown bag' offerings of sandwiches you can buy when the kitchen itself is closed. I think that is really clever, and I wish more bars did that.
