Gotta qualify the 5 stars thing up front because this is a bar, not fine dining, and it's smoking-friendly. I'm not counting those as quality issues but rather selection of a target audience. It may not be for everyone in that regard. But I'm often out late when traveling, and usually bored, so that's how I found this place. It's open late, and that was enough to make me try it. But it's the socialness that brings me back over and over. For someone who doesn't drink, I visit a lot of bars. I find this a particularly welcoming one. Rare is the bar where people are as friendly and social as here. In a lot of bars, I come and go without even feeling noticed. Here, I have met and chatted with quite a number of people. Hayley, the late evening bartender this time, is one of the hardest working bartenders I've run across anywhere. A lot of my friends are service staff, many of them bartenders. So I know what it takes to do well in that. It's not easy. There is a lot of subtlety to keeping a bunch of people calm and content when they're drinking. She was serving the whole room, not just from behind the counter. She took the time out to (re)teach me play pool, something I've not done for decades. Then she checked back periodically to make sure I was interacting with other people and having a good time. A lot of the people she seemed to already know, but she was tending to each in a way that seemed appropriate to them. I was really impressed, and in fact extended my stay in the area by a day because I was having such a good time and wanted to come back the following night. And the food is decent (for a bar). The kitchen isn't available quite as late as the bar, which stays open surprisingly late. Still, they've planned for that and have 'brown bag' offerings of sandwiches you can buy when the kitchen itself is closed. I think that is really clever, and I wish more bars did that. All in all, I like the place and if I get back to Nashville, I'll make a point to be back here. read more

One particular bar tender, a blonde middle aged woman, is extremely rude. I don't recommend this place to anybody.

SMOKEY -- sending out the smoke signal to warn you up front in case a smokey bar would detour you from coming to a place. Ok now that that's out of the way, let's talk food, entertainment and drinks! Entertainment wise they have karaoke a couple nights a week and the regulars SHOW UP! But they don't hate when newbies come to share in the fun and cheer you on. They had beer bucket special. My friends and I got several and every time there was a different amount of beer in them... one had 6, then 7, then 5. We were very confused but just went with it. They have a full bar and they are averages drinks, nothing to write home about unless you are dying to tell your friends that a place had Tito's and properly added it to your mixer of choice. As far as the food goes, they have your usually quick fried foods. Wings came in a bed of chips. Plenty of sauce. 3/5 for the wings. There were these little fried loaded potatoes that were a little over cooked on the outside, but the inside tasted amazing, just like my mom's twice baked potatoes! 4.5/5 -- would've been a 5 but just a little too crispy and well done for me. Mozzeralla sticks were kinda cold and a log... there was no cheese pull. The chicken tenders and mini cornies were average. Did the job at midnight, but nothing to dream about. All the sauces were from a can/bottle, far from fancy... but not surprised at a place like this. Good vibes and although it's a very local place, everyone seemed fairly friendly and the staff was attentive. They are open until 3am on the weekends, which outside of the downtown nashville area isn't super common. Unfortunately for me, smoking alone bumped this place down in my book quite a bit. Three stars because they do offer very limited hard alcohol and food compared to Santa's. But we went early for karaoke, got on the list and kept getting bumped when the regulars would show up, even after a big tip. I will stick to Santa's for karaoke. read more

Best Bar ever! Best bar food, best karaoke and so much fun! We had a blast there, we played poker, shot a few games of pool got great drink and beer specials, and we threw darts before we left! We even got to meet the owners Johnny and Kim Dolan, what a really nice couple. The bar was very upbeat and friendly and it was definitely a locals hang out. Everyone knew everyone in there. Dolan's is a great place with Sunday's NFL viewing being the weekly highlight. Great atmosphere with fans of many different teams enjoying typical sports banter. No stupid drunks or fights. The food is terrific bar fare with delicious sandwichs and salads too. I always get great customer service from Kim the friendly hobbled Sunday bartender. I'm new to the Franklin area but since I've been here Dolans has been a regular hang out for me. Great service, great people, excellent staff and wonderful owners. Everyone makes you feel welcome. Last night I had way too much to drink, which is a rarity for me. I got in my car, not to drive but to cool down from the heat, which was when I got sick. The staff came outside to not only make sure I was ok but also to make sure I wasn't going to drive. They even took it one step further and arranged for one of the bar tenders to drive me home. I felt like I was one of their own and I don't care how good or bad a hang out can be, treatment like that will always get a 10 in my book. THANK YOU DOLAN's for ensuring my safety and well being. I like this place & only wish we found it sooner. Sure, it's a place that allows smoking, but we were there on a Saturday afternoon and the smoke wasn't bad. The bar food menu was just what we were looking for...had the onion rings & seasoned fries and we were quite happy. My Wife and I had a really enjoyable experience every time we come to Dolan's . I have no problem giving it 5 stars for the atmosphere and the service. The servers are always upbeat and engaged, even though it was somewhat busy with people. It's always a craps-shoot for what kind a service at other places. I think the atmosphere is what I liked most about Dolan's. It is engaging, and you could tell from the various Activity's going on ...Darts...Pool Tables... Free Poker ... Karaoke and Food that other people really enjoy coming here also. There are TVs everywhere, so you don't have to crane your neck much to watch a few games. Overall, we had a good time there and I would recommend it to friends/people looking for a good-service sports bar with a great atmosphere. read more
