Hello, We were in Bismarck for medical and got out f hospital at 8 pm . Never been to Scottys an decided to try. Ordered a single burger at drive thru and when we got window it was already waiting to be picked up. Now that's a little too fast for me. took first bite and that was the worst burger I have ever had. I don't go to fast food places but I would say a burger king burger sitting outside in the heat for a day would have been 100% better. Will never go back to that place EVER AGAIN. Yes it was around 7:30. I turn my truck off to order but it took a minute to get it restarted. When I got to window the burger was already there. Went to Scotty's today for lunch on the recommendation of a coworker. Had their bacon cheese, poutine burger. It was awesome along with an order of large onion rings. Also got a chocolate shake, which was probably one of the best I've had in years. The burger was cooked just right and the bacon and gravy along with the cheese poutine was probably one of the best things I've had in a long time with the burger for it being lunchtime. The service was great and rather quick the decor was old time drive-in, and very family friendly if you haven't been to this place, I highly recommend going especially if you have people from out of town who enjoy burgers and the old time driving atmosphere. read more

I tried this local place because of the buzz it gets and I wanted to buy local. The burger was ok, nothing to write home about. The onion rings were soggy. I thought their prices were high compared to other local places, but I know prices are rising everywhere. I heard their shrimp burger was really good, so I will try it next time. It's not very often to see knoephla soup! All in all, it was good, but nothing special. I prefer some of the other local places. read more

Scotty's once was great but the last time I was there the disappointment was huge. The Rebel burger was dry and absolutely uninspiring. I also ordered the chili dog and while not horrible the chili was kind of bland to me but I like a lot of kick in my chili. Great French fries though....so while my experience wasn't all that great....as a rule I always try a place more then once....so stay tuned and I will let you know how round two goes. read more

This is a local 1950's style diner. I don't know if the still offer in car service but is setup with an awning for a real retro look. Pretty typical burgers menu with kids meals that are 2.99 on Wednesday's. Fed me n the kids for 15$ even. Real cool retro vibe. Food was about to be expected, not corporate, nothing that stands out but still a valuable local treasure!! Happy I steered away from a drive through or any corporate junk tonight!! Went back to Scottie's today, owner keeping place updated and clean, had a spicy chicken that was very above average. Got a spicy jalapeño lemonade that was amazing!! I was traveling for business and in the mood for a good old hamburger. I found Scotty's on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. I love these little non-chain drive-ins! I went with the simple hamburger. I like the toasted buns and you're not cheated as the burger is good sized. It does taste a lot like a frozen patty though. Service was friendly and fast. I was not over-whelmed, but I will definitely go back on my next business trip. read more

On a road trip looking for ice cream in Bismarck, ND. Stopped here because of other yelp reviews I read. My husband and I had the best malts ever! This is a cute little hamburger and malt shop that's been around since the 50's. It's got a drive-in like A&W's had. It's decorated in all red, black and white with a checkerboard floor inside. There are framed prints of the shop in the 50's with cars pulled into the drive in stalls. The music plays inside and in the parking lot with 1950's music! Find your way over here for a great respite from the road. Loved it! read more

I stopped in here because I was in the mood for a milkshake. Their sign boasts something about 27 (I can't remember the exact number), so I thought I'd give it a try. The people at the counter were pretty gruff, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to a busy lunchtime. The shake was unremarkable. It was simply soft serve blended with milk and a flavored syrup. I ordered banana, which I thought might be an actual banana blended into actual ice cream. Not the case. My father brought us here a long time ago because of something called a Tartar Burger. As a kid it didn't sound appealing. I loved them then and I love them now. Every time I'm in Bismarck I get a few and you can bet that the next visit will be no different. STAY FAR AWAY!!! My family's done... We won't be going back... Scotty's used to be one of our families favorite places to go. We haven't been in since the new owners took over since its out of our way now. But I thought I would stop in at lunch today since I was on that side of the town. And I was excited since we'll be moving within walking distance in about a month. It was going to be the family place to walk to.. The new owners may have fixed up the building but too bad they got rid of everything our family loved about the place. If you want a burger sure you could go there, but everything that we ordered is no longer on the menu. It's pretty much all burgers. They got rid of most of the sides and appetizers. Way less flavors of scotters. Almost thought about walking out when I found out everything was gone. I figured since I was there anyway I would try something else. What a mistake. Horrible tasting food. The fries and gravy used to be awesome. Now they are basic fries with no seasoning and the gravy is a basic country gravy. Bland but almost seems like they're trying to compete with Big Boy. And they aren't close just head down the street if you want the real thing. The cashier gave me a weird look almost a smirk when she called my number. Unfortunately it wasn't til I got back to work that I found out she mixed up the orders and the regular cheeseburger I had ordered was not what I received. Since I was watching her fill orders I'm pretty sure she put the burgers in the wrong bags. Your employees need to check the orders better. Now I am back at work with a lunch that is inedible and disgusting. Too bad I get to sit here for the next five hours with nothing to eat. That should be wonderful. I hope reviews using yelp are more accurate than Google reviews, but I doubt it. Businesses tend to get all their friends and family to leave 5 star reviews. Especially when their product sucks. That being said....i would definitely advise not wasting your money here. I've eaten here 2 times in the last 18 months and the food is over priced, probably expired and tastes disgusting....i give each business 2 chances because I understand that fast food places can have a bad day from time to time. I ordered a burger the first time and it looked and tasted as if it had been sitting in the warmer for over 8 hours. I've had cheap burgers at gas stations that were better quality. Not exaggerating!!! The lady at the cashier was clearly not enthused to be working that day either. Poor attitude. The 2nd time I brought my daughter. She ordered a plain hot dog. It took about 10 minutes and it came out with ketchup, mustard, onions and I dont remember what else. So I returned it for what I had asked for the first time. I didn't get an apology. I got a dirty look of disgust from the cashier. Another 10 minutes and my daughter gets her hot dog and fries. The fries are cold...not even a little bit warm. The hot dog is inedible. It's charred black and chewy. The bread was very stale. Long story short...DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS PLACE!!!!! utterly disgusting. I was taken here by my grandma when I was growing up in Bismarck. My review back then would have been something like "yay! Cheeseburger! What no play-place!?" But with age tastes change. Even though I had been back to Bismarck to visit family after moving away I hadn't been back to visit Scotty's. It wasn't until we were visiting this Christmas and drove by that I remembered the place. It was winter so the cool drive up vibe was kinda lost but it had a cool 'no frills' look to the building that is prevalent in that part of town. The inside had been remodeled since my childhood and was less brown than I remembered. The woman at the counter was friendly and when asked explained that the tartar burger got it's name from tartar sauce and was in no way raw. We ordered two deluxe cheeseburgers, fries and the appetizer sampler. The fries were good and crisp and the app sampler was the pile of brown and fried that we had signed up for but the real hit were the burgers. They classified as the fast food type of burger, thin, lacy edged and cooked on a griddle. Unlike bad examples of this style these had a crisp brown crust from the griddle and none of the pale gray hue of a steam table. The onions were sliced paper thin to give flavor without getting in the way of the rest of the burger. All of it was on a soft eggy bun. One other high point was the thick homemade ranch that was provided for the fried food. It was the kind of ranch that is referred to as "the good stuff". Scotty's is a place that delivers exactly what it advertises, good burgers and fries made the well with no frills. I think there might be ice cream there as well, but if you have room left after the burgers and fries you did it wrong. read more

I has become a great fastfood place since the new ownership starting in January 2016. He has made great changes like never frozen Black Angus beef, homemade soups, gravy, and poutine(fries with gravy and cheese curds. He has also upgraded the kids meals with classic car box, new fries and onion rings. I see changes in the bulding but that will likely take time. I am excited to see the changes and what it would be like in the years to come. read more

Never going back. The place is filthy. Sticky floors, large gross stains in the carpet. Coleslaw is on the menu & we've enjoyed it many times in the past but they never seem to have it on hand anymore--and when we expressed disappointment, they were clueless and unresponsive. For instance they said, "no, but we have Fleischkueckle" and "we were thinking about making potato salad" (which is also on the menu but isn't actually available). I mentioned the floor in front of the main counter is sticky. Response: "yeah." And lastly, one of my sloppy joes had a tiny fraction of the filling it should have had. read more
