Disappointing--and a little concerning This place comes across less as a restaurant with a bar and more as a dingy bar that happens to serve food. That wouldn't necessarily be a dealbreaker if the food made up for it, but unfortunately it didn't. My wife and I shared the Ribs and Side Pieces. The ribs tasted okay, but they had considerably more fat and less meat than I prefer. The fries were similarly unremarkable--perfectly edible, but nothing I'd go back for. What really bothered me was the cleanliness. The bathroom was dirty. A friend of mine who owns several restaurants once told me that he considers the condition of a restaurant's bathroom a useful clue to how seriously management takes cleanliness in areas customers can't see. Fair or not, that thought was difficult to shake after seeing this one. More concerning: a few hours after our shared lunch, both my wife and I became sick. Obviously, I can't establish that the restaurant caused it, and I'm not claiming that it did. But given that we ate the same meal and both developed symptoms afterward, it's something I think is worth mentioning. Great spot for BBQ, best I have had so far in ND. Brisket had a good smoke ring and was fall apart tender. Rib tips were great. Coleslaw and beans had some kick snd the corn muffin was light and fluffy with a crisp top. Outstanding. Service was polite and quick. read more

The food is absolutely incredible. The breading on the chicken was sweet and Smokey. The brisket has such a great Smokey flavor and is very tender. There was some sort of gravy on the biscuit and brisket that I could have just added to a cup and drank Serving sizes are huge. You are not going to leave hungry but probably with leftovers. I'm still dreaming about how good the biscuit was. The service is also top notch. The owner goes above and beyond to converse with everyone providing recommendations and just trying to get to know his customers. It's a cozy restaurant and very welcoming. 10/10 Best bbq in town! Stopped in for lunch a couple months ago and waited over 45 minutes for food--it was busy, so not a quick stop. The Cajun corn bake was amazing and the highlight of the meal. We were excited to try this new restaurant, as there aren't too many BBQ joints in Bismarck. The staff were very welcoming and explained the menu. The owner was also very friendly and thanked us for our business. He was showing the staff how to handle a busy Saturday night, mop the floors, and empty the trash. I ordered the two-meat platter at $22. A little pricey, but of course everything has gone up. It came with two sides. One bummer is they were out of brisket. The hey were also out of fried Mac and cheese balls. I ordered the rib tips and sausage. The sausage was a little too charred for me. The rib tips were juicy and drizzled with sauce. My two sides were the beans, flavorful with a kick, and the crispiest, which are like a baked potato that is smashed and fried. My dad ordered the chicken, which was chopped and drizzled with sauce. Very juicy! He ordered the baked potato, which is usually covered in nacho cheese and sour cream. They said they deep fry the potato before serving....yummy! My brother ordered the Turkey sandwich, which was thick slices of smoked Turkey, and he said the bread was delicious. It was a lot of good and plenty to take home! We definitely want to return to try their seafood offerings and Detroit pizza. They have seafood boil on Fridays and Saturday's. Kudos to them for offering seafood during Lent! read more

BBQ is good, but try the pizza it is even better. Things are home made so know towards the end of the day they may run out of items. Try the sides all are delicious. For a tasty treat the corn bread muffins do not disappoint. read more

Service was slow for the pick up. The worst part was the food. The potato salad was mush , more like mashed potatoes than, potato salad. Baked beans were made with too much ketchup for the sauce. The ribs had so much pepper on them that they were not even edible. The only thing I enjoyed eating was the muffin. The rest of the order went in the garbage. If I could give 0 stars, I would. My husband & I can't remember the last time we had such a terrible dining experience. We got there at 5:50 pm on a Friday evening & expected a bit of a wait. It was busy, but a booth opened up so we snagged it, even though it hadn't been cleaned. A couple of waitresses made eye contact with us a few times, but never said anything to us & we waited 15 minutes for our table to be cleaned. Then it took another 10 minutes to be able to order. During this time, a couple sat down after us, yet ordered before us & got their food very quickly. We waited almost an hour for our food, while only being checked on by a waitress once, who took my husband's glass for a refill & never brought it back. During our, almost 2 hours there, we felt very unwelcome & neglected. The service was very unorganized, with all 3 waitresses seeming to have no set tables & checking on the same tables at random times. Now, let's get to our meal. When we finally got our food, it was such a huge disappointment. My husband ordered the pork belly burger, but he was brought a burger with pulled pork. He would have sent it back, but we didn't want to wait another hour. I ordered a 1/4 rack of ribs with their "spicy" coleslaw & Southern style potato salad with supposed smoke flavor. Let me say this, I'm from the South & know good BBQ & this WAS NOT IT! The 3 ribs had next to no meat on them & were tough. Plus, they were almost cold. The spicy slaw had no spice or heat to it. Was the spice supposed to be black pepper? I'm not sure. And, finally, the potato salad had no smoke flavor & was the worst I've ever tasted. From beginning to end, from service, ambience, & food, this was such a letdown. I'm very unclear how this has a 4 star rating. read more

I'm a regular custumer at the Firepit, it is my GO TO when I'm craving amazing barbecue! The brisket is my favorite and I have had brisket all over the USA, this is the best. We tried this place out tonight, ordering the brisket, a baked potato and Mac and cheese! The brisket melted in your mouth and the Mac and cheese was delish! Unfortunately my potato came with nacho cheese covering the whole thing along with seasoned sour cream... I am not a cheese or sour cream fan. Meal was a TOTAL disappointment. I ordered the loaded Mac n cheese with ribs...The meat was cut up with BONES & FAT and thrown on top of Mac n cheese. I had to pick thru EVERY piece...before I could eat it. This pic was of all of the fat/bones in my dish. I would NEVER serve that to anyone...much less at a restaurant!
