This was two scoops and cost $6.49. It looked like a kids serving.
Melinda J.

This place was already overpriced. This last visit will be the final one. The portion was ridiculous for the price. Two scoops of ice cream was the equivalent to a kids portion. The cost was $6.49.

This is simply an awesome place. Called scoops and more, but it's not just their ice cream that shines. All the food is delicious. It's a classic American diner type of joint in terms of the foods they offer, Lots of sandwiches, burgers, pizza, etc. I tried out their fish sandwich with mushrooms and provolone and ranch, as well as their hand packed milkshake with peanut butter cup and peanut butter twist. The sandwich was huge. For around $15: really can't be beat by many places. Even half is enough to satisfy most people. It's got a nice fried piece of haddock (I think), and the cheese and mushrooms were flavorful (not the freshest but that's ok). A good amount of bread, maybe tad much. Still, very good. The fries were also surprisingly good. Nice and crispy on the outside, and quite fluffy in the middle. They give you a nice portion size. They aren't seasoned much, but are still solid. Went so well with the ranch, and the fish was great with ranch too. Their ranch is just awesome. The milkshake was pretty good. I think it would be even better if I just got ice cream in a cup, though. There were nice little peanut butter pieces throughout that I liked. Solid but would have liked it to be creamier.

As expected, on a Friday evening in June, the line of customers for this business was long. I patiently waited in line for many minutes until I could place my order. The employee who served me was nice enough, and she correctly made my ice creams and processed my payment. Outside were a several clean tables and chairs in which customers could sit. Here are my reviews for the ice creams: Pineapple dole whip - 4.5 stars - My husband described this dole whip as "good," "refreshing," and "crazy sweet." Raspberry ice cream - 4.5 stars - My scoop of raspberry ice cream tasted delicious. The total cost for these two items was $10.

I came in on a Thursday evening around 7pm and there were maybe 3 parties in line ahead of me. The line moved quickly and there was ample indoor and outdoor seating. I saw someone get a chocolate chip cookie sundae that came in one of the normal sundae containers, like a boat shape, and I thought, "I want that!" I opted for the peanut butter cup sundae instead and I should have known it was going to end badly when I saw the lady grab a cup to make it in. She layered the chocolate soft serve with a literal CUP full of peanut butter and then went to the hot fudge machine that was "giving her trouble". The whole top of the cup was hot fudge and peanut butter, pouring down the sides of the cup. She looked at me and asked if I wanted whipped cream and a cherry.. there was NO way that was fitting on top. I declined. She handed it to me like that and said she was sorry, the machine was acting up. In a matter of seconds, it looked like a diaper exploded in my hands. She grabbed me a roll of paper towels and when I asked for a lid, she said it "would make it worse". I paid $8.19 after tax and left. The whole mess tasted pretty good, but was definitely more trouble than it was worth. Maybe it was an off night, but I wasn't impressed.

Great lunch spot! Delicious salads- fair priced! And perfect spot for a sweet treat to fix your craving!!!!

Diary Free Menu

The line was long, but it went very quickly! We went solely for the fact that they serve dairy free ice cream - and have more than one flavor! I chose the Cookie Craving on a waffle cone. It was delicious - the best dairy free ice cream I've had in the area! My only complaint is that I wish they made their own waffle cones instead of severing Joy waffle cones that can be purchased at the store... I love a thick, homemade waffle cone! The prices were fair, and the ice cream was delicious!

Went here for the first time and was impressed! Had the Greek style sundae which had baklava, fudge, and honey. My hubby had a peanut butter cup sundae. Portions are HUGE!! Place looks clean. There are places to sit inside and outside. They have soft serve in addition to hard which is rare to see at most places.

Great little spot with a full menu and a lot of ice cream. I went on a Monday afternoon and it was very busy. They have about 40 flavors of hard ice cream. They explained that they keep the traditional flavors the same but rotate out the others biweekly so you have a good chance of getting your favorite. There are only 4 booths and 4 stools at the counter inside but a lot of outside seating. The parking lot is huge and it's very easy to get to. Definitely worth checking out.

SO YUMMY!! We went in for ice cream, however my husband decided to purchase a sandwich as well. He said it tasted really good and was ready pretty quickly after he ordered. Now the ice cream! I got a carmel turtle sundae and it was amazing! It had the perfect amount of carmel, chocolate, and pecans. I am not a fan of whipped cream, however the ice cream had a really great creamy homemade taste to it. If we're ever in Pittsburgh again, we will definitely stop in!

It was a thick beef patty topped with cheese, bacon, and a fried egg. The burger was astoundingly juicy and seasoned heavily. Fries were pretty standard but they complemented the burger nicely. Highly recommended, though I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of their burgers. The atmosphere is so rugged, it is actually almost charming. The lighting is dark and there is a bit of a smoky smell to the air, though no smoking is allowed at the bar where we sat. There are also a few gambling machines in the back that appeared to be the most high tech thing in the whole place. The atmosphere was really quite retro, though perhaps not by design. The server (can't remember her name) was attentive and friendly. She chatted with my coworker and I while she prepared our burger on the griddle right in front of us. If you are looking for an authentic West Virginia type of experience, this is a great place to try. Just don't bring your kids, because they will not be allowed in!

We found an adorable part of town to walk through and then we spotted Moonlit Burgers and decided to stop for lunch. They have limited table service in the sense that you place your order with the cashier when you walk in and they bring your food out to you a little bit later on. They even checked on us a few times while we ate. Very nice staff too! The restaurant is a good size with lots of tables for two and few bigger tables as well. They also have a separate bar if you want something other than soda with your burgers. I ordered the Moonlit Smashburger and the hubby ordered a chicken sandwich; we also ordered fries and a drink to share. The cup for the drink was super duper tiny though, and we weren't sure about refills so we just took shallow sips. Next time we'll make sure to get two drinks. The smashburger was so good!! Everything a smashburger should be. The moon sauce was tangy and complimented the meat so well. And those crispy edges!! The fries were nice and crisp too and the hubby thoroughly enjoyed his chicken sandwich. We left the restaurant satisfied and full!!

Downey's House provided the local spot I needed. An ice cold Yuengling on draft went down very well, and while I didn't find pierogis on the menu, I settled for a phenomenal bowl of spaghetti & meatballs. Local marinara & meatballs made with the same recipe of the old Main Hotel that was in Carnegie for nearly 100 years. That bowl of pasta was SCRUMPTIOUS and just what I was after. Its a decent serving size for an appetizer. I enjoyed it. The nachos were surprisingly tasty. When they came out I was unsure about them because any other time I've ever ordered a loaded type nacho they're, how do I explain it, more colorful I guess. Usually its like bacon and American cheese, guac, pico, etc., but these were just shades of white and green. I wish I could've finished them but the portion was quite a bit for 1 person. My only gripe would be the chicken. It reminded me of the meat you get in a launchable. I think I would rather prefer a crispy diced chicken. But that's just me. The other 2 didn't have any complaints about the Rival Stix or the burger. The Chicken Tenders were said to not have much flavor in the breading. The person who ordered them didn't care for the breading. I was also tempted into some sort of creme brulee donut I think.
