Best bakery in Honolulu. Scones are all great, lilikoi bar, guava bar, and lemon bar are my favs. All their pies are amazing! And they have hotdog, spam, and ham and cheese buns if your feeling something savory. If you're into old time local bakeries, which are hard to come by now days you should really check this place out. Prices are great considering the pandemic. Also, this place is locally owned and operated. the owner works extremely hard every day to make all the pastries so go and support!!! read more

Sconees Bakery - ham and cheese bun, blueberry cream cheese scone, hotdog bun, and lilikoi bar. - Bakeries Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I love this place! More for my sister than for myself. Parking is locate in the lot next to and behind the bakery with metered stalls. Meters are monitored 24hrs a day. Sorry friends, no free parking on Sundays. A Because it's a bakery, there isn't a restroom. The freshly baked scones, apricot, peach, apple, raisin, chocolate chip, cranberry, come in two sizes; regular and mini. I usually get the mini ones so I can get one of each for her. A+ The pastries are divine, too. (Some other places can leave an oily film inside the mouth and a not-so-nice aftertaste.) The custard buns are chewy but light, and fluffy and have a very pleasant flavor. No skimping on the filling. A+ The banana bread and cornbread pieces are huge, light and very moist. A+ read more

I did not like their scones (chocolate and blueberry) for the first few trials, never went back there until last week. Thanks to TK. Peach and apricot and raisen scones were really good. Their blueberry scones are still not my favorite. Beside scones, those bars are really good, especially Lilikoi bar! Cash only! YELP 365 - 65/365 read more

How can I support local businesses if they do not support locals who kept them afloat when the touristas weren't around during covid lockdown? I've been here many times over the years but won't be returning. Last week I bought a couple banana bread and several varieties of scones. The tiny over priced banana bread loaf did not taste like it had any banana at all and was undercooked or mushy: it stuck to the roof of the mouth. I'm no baker but during quarantine experimented with betty crocket cake mix and mashed over ripe bananas i had and even the finicky grandkiddos enjoyed it. The cranberry and lemon scones were okay but the blueberry scones crumbled when bit into and obviously very old. But I'm glad we sampled it first before giving the other box to our neighbors becasue me and the wife had to take turns in the lua after.. I mean pahoehoe.. seriously. Theres another scone bake shop next door just opened but i wonder if it's also a 'sconees' clone? read more

Went here yesterday for a mid morning snack. I heard it had a great selection of scones so I thought I would give it a try. When I got there I was so excited about everything but the scones, I skipped the scones all together. I started with a vegetable quiche, then I got a hot dog bun and a lilikoi bar. The quiche was my favorite thing that I had here. The crust was flavorful and flaky. The filling was fluffy and moist. It tasted both sweet and savory at the same time, but if you dont like onions, this isnt the quiche for you (definitely onion-ful). The hot dog bun was just ok, my bro in law had the spam bun and he said he really liked it. I was a little disappointed with the lillikoi bar. It didnt have as much flavor as I thought it should have. It was mildly sweet, but was not nearly tart enough....and the weird part.....didnt really taste of strong lilikoi. The interesting part was when I asked if they sold drinks, the lady behind the counter said they dont serve drinks. Ok, no drinks...not a problem. I asked if it would be ok if I got some napkins and she said.....no, they dont have napkins.......uhm ok....I barely got a fork to eat my quiche! quiche 5 stars service 1 star average 3 stars read more

Sconees Bakery - Blueberry My Fave!! - Bakeries Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

In an attempt to explore more in my own neighborhood, I came across this small bakery in the heart of Kaimuki town. I never knew this place existed, especially since I never walked on this block before. Just basically on the main drag of Waialae Ave, and not much of anywhere else. So, I just got back from visiting this cozy bakery, which reminds me of Kamehameha Bakery in Kalihi or Napoleon's Bakery that's attached to like every Zippy's location in Hawaii. Or maybe just a stand alone bakery that has been around in Kaimuki long enough to be good enough. Like any other bakery in Hawaii, the assorted products within the display cases are really mouth watering and already fabulous enough to want to enjoy in a second. Thanks to the review from Little D before venturing here, I did not know it was cash only, so I was prepared to not pull out my plastic and instead head to the First Hawaiian Bank ATM and draw out $20 for this new Yelp adventure. Also thanks to the review from Anna D, while 2 years removed, I decided to take on their bars and not their scones. Surely, a review that's strongly against their scones was sure to be heeded and advised. And as such, I just went for their assorted bars and cakes, which turned out pretty good and just normal. Nothing really stellar about this place, especially when you can go to Times' Supermarket, Safeway, and even 7-Eleven to get your pastry fest on in any part of the week. My favorite from this place would be the chocolate cake, the cheese pockets, and the lemon bars. While I should indulge in the sweets sometimes, it's important to enjoy life while you are still here and not be too OCD about weight and weight loss. I gotta tell myself that sometimes. The prices are quite reasonable and the location is very near to where I live, so that's a plus and a half. The service was quick and swift and I got a smile with the purchase, so that was a good happy feeling for me. For me, I would rather have my Cold Stone Ice Cream and a rich decadent brownie, than typical scones and bars, but I'm just one person in a sea of about 1.4 million in Hawaii. Overall, this small bakery is good for Kaimuki town. I would come here again and try other things.Parking is limited, so the best parking would be on the side streets and the Kaimuki municipal parking lot nearby. Support local and small business! Someone dropped off a box of lilikoi and guava bars to our office and they were gone in minutes. I won't disclose how many of those I ate, in fear of a coworker reading this and discovering that I'm the reason why there wasn't enough bars to go around. Fast forward to today. No line at the bakery yay! (then again it's a Monday at 1pm). Most of the scones were out as well as the manapua but they must've known I was coming since there were a lot of bars left. For only $1.25, you get a big piece of lemon, guava, or lilikoi goodness on a decadent crust with a light coat of powdered sugar. Hey, you might get diabetes after but some things are worth it. Unfortunately my coworker caught my Instagram post and I've been guilt-tripped into sharing my sugary babies at work tomorrow. Darn social media. Other info: Located facing out towards 12th ave next to otto cakes Same metered lot as verbano, koko head cafe, etc Pay the meter! We were gifted with a four pack of the guava bars, today. And they were delicious! The bottom is like a shortbread cookie, followed by a thick layer of guava chiffon-like filling and topped by a yummy crust on the top. Add to that a dusting of powdered sugar, and you've got heaven in each bite! The portions are good, not too small not to large. We enjoyed these very much and will be checking Sconees out for ourselves in the future. read more

I was on a hunt to try the fruit bars and wasn't able to find parking in the lot. However, I was able to find street parking with time left on a meter (bonus). Ordered a couple Guava, Lilikoi and Lemon bars to go. I also bought a slice of the Lilikoi cake and Banana Bread. The bars were larger than I thought and had a nice thick but flaky crust. The fillings were moist and flavorful. I liked the Lilikoi bar best, but also enjoyed the Guava and Lemon bars. I personally thought the flavors were a bit subtle and would have preferred stronger fruit flavors in all 3 bars. I also enjoyed the Lilikoi cake too and thought it was flavorful. read more

This is an awesome little pastry place/bakery. They have THE BEST scones here, in a variety of flavors. My favorites are the blueberry, apricot and peach scones. They also have a variety of breakfast pastries as well as cookies and other baked items. Their items are baked fresh and taste amazing! Best to come early, because they do run out! This place is one of my top choices for picking up something to take over to someone's house, to the office or as a treat for my classmates at school! read more

Why oh why have I not come here until now?! These, by far, are the best scones I have ever had tasted in my life! When I think "pastries" I think sugary, chocolatey doughy goodness so I was never a big fan of scones unless it was heavily drizzled with glaze. That is until I tried the scones here. There's something about the taste of the dough and the density of it that makes it so delicious and so hearty. A mini scone is enough to fill me up well! So darn good. Then there's the HUGE slices of cakes! I chose a piece of cornbread today. Oh my where's the huge pot of chowder when you need it? Very dense and they don't skimp on the cornmeal! I like REAL cornbread unlike other "lighter" versions that are more like cornCAKE. No, you want something to sop up that chowder not disintegrate in it. You want real cornbread? They got you covered. Last but not least, the BARS! Lilikoi, guava, lemon, blueberry. Yummm! Again, you can taste the quality ingredients. You can see and taste that the blueberries were fresh not frozen, dense and flavorful crusts! Oh boy this place is the real deal. Great prices too! A lot of bang for your buck! I will be back over and over again! read more

Great friendly service, great prices, & best all tasteeeeey!!! So good I ordered some pies for Thanksgiving.

I love Sconees. Their scones are perfect. If you go an hour to a half hour before they close, you can get a bag of scones for a song! And they last a while in the fridge/freezer. They're not too sweet, not too heavy, go perfect with some nice Irish butter and local jam, heat up nicely in the toaster or microwave. Their bars are great. Love their lilikoi bars. And their breads. And damn, my waistline is expanding just thinking about their stuff. I read they only use fresh local eggs. You can taste it, because their baked goods never taste old or stale. Cash or check only, so be prepared. It's old school. Deal with it, because it's worth it. read more

Don't forget to bring cash !!!! I've lived in kaimuki for over 5 years and never been to this place until today. Parking can be a challenge depending on the time you go. We went on a Sunday and I'm sure half of the people who parked back there went to koko head cafe or koa pancake house. Either way. There's metered stalls behind or I guess you can park across the street by 12th avenue grill and walk over. I'm not sure what they're known for so we tried a little bit of everything. My husband didn't really care for the scone but enjoyed the guava bar. I picked up a hot dog which was good. A curry bun which was also good. And a chocolate eclair which was on the dry side. I guess this place is good to go to once In awhile if you have your favorites. But I think I'll just stick to st Germaine or brug. read more

Great scones and bars, affordably priced bit of excellent quality. Service was friendly and personable. i recommend this bakery!

Got here by 6:30am and nabbed street parking... with no one waiting. Yes, that's the best! Love sconees! Not your typical moist scone (ew, I hate the word moist HAHA), more on the dry-side, like a biscuit...but something about it makes me want more! I always get the chocolate chip ones, those are the best! This morning I also got some blueberry cream cheese, blueberry, and apple. I also got 2 lilikoi bars and 2 blueberry bars. Gosh, these are so dang delish! I think each mini scone and bar was about $1.25-$2 (I paid $25 total). Greeted by a local filipina lady who helped me pack my dozen scones while eating her breakfast or something - her mouth was full so she couldn't really talk to me. haha! She seemed a little annoyed when I didn't promptly order and know exactly what I wanted... but eh, gave her the benefit of the doubt since it's early in the morning. When I was ready to pay and I looked around for the cc machine, ughhh, CASH ONLY!! I guess it's been awhile since I last came and I forgot. She just pointed across the street where I saw the Territorial Savings and I had to run across to pull out some cash from the ATM. Not bad, $1.75 fee for the withdrawl. lol, next time I'll remember. Always best to come early in the morning because they run out of the good flavors (i.e. choco chip and blueberry cream cheese)! I haven't run into really warm staff here, but no huge complaints. As long as I'm fast with ordering and remember to bring cash, I'll be ok (mental note for next time). Even with me having to run across the street for the ATM, I was in and out of there within 10 minutes. Nice! Although it's a little drive from town and work for me, it was worth it to come here this morning and get some fresh scones to bring to our coffee hour at work. :) read more

Stopped in for small treat. Couldn't decide because I really wanted a savory scone and they did not have any. It was later in the day so completely understandable. I got a blueberry whole wheat scone. And fell in love. The texture was soft on the inside with a lovely crust outside. Light crumb not too crumbly. And I ate it with no butter or jam. Just enough sweet absolutely delicious. I love to go to the small family owned businesses. They are the backbone of our culture. And yes, the lady is not super smiley, but she puts all her sweetness and love into her baked goods. read more

A mini bake shop hidden in an alleyway? That sign just made us stop by. It looked like it's been here for a loong time. There were a lot of scones. There was a line...must be popular. OMG....a blueberry jam gyoza....no wait..it's a dessert. It's sooo cute. It's like a flatten gyoza. I think they put jelly or jam in it. Quite sweet. I also got the blueberry scone, its kinda dry....can't taste much of the flavor. read more

Stumbled upon this bakery after parking across the street and so I'm thankful I did! Longgg awaited review. Cute little hole in the wall I found some time ago, while on my way to yoga. Scones are good, Fav is the whole wheat blueberry scone. BUT I really like and go here for the lilikoi bread and/or bars. Nice and moist, not an overpowering tart taste. Banana bread is eh, my mom bakes way better and she's not a baker, lol. Open early (6) and closes pretty later in the afternoon for a bakery (Latest I've gone is at 5:00 p.m.) tho I'm sure they might stay open later if there's an abundance of left overs. 4-stars, but... Minus a star for leaving certain bread products out WITHOUT a bug net of some sorts. Yikes! And for not having other drinks (i.e. bottled water, canned juice) Yes they do have coffee and I'm sure not having any other liquids defeats overhead costs, but it'd be nice. read more

A friend had told me about this little bakery in Kaimuki, saying that their blueberry scones were on par with the ones from Diamond Head Bakery. Now, the ones from Diamond Head Bakery are her absolute favorite ... so this was a pretty steep claim. I really enjoy the ones from Diamond Head Bakery myself ... and I don't even like blueberries, so that's saying a lot about those scones! Needless to say, my first trip to Sconees wasn't even planned. I was going to Otto Cake, but since Sconees was close by, I decided to casually drop in (and I had remembered what my friend said about this place). Of course, my initial thought was, "Hmm, they spelled 'Scones' wrong" ... but I digress. Even from the outside of the bakery, I could see the display was fully loaded so I wasted no time walking in. Talk about the wrong place to be indecisive. There were many other flavors besides blueberry scones, and there were muffins and cookies as well. It seems like this small bakery definitely can crank out a lot of baked goods! I got one of the blueberry scones, and one of the chocolate chip ones as well. Sidenote: I actually really, really like scones. Yes, they generally have a bad rap for being on the dry side, but I don't mind when baked goods are slightly drier. I love bread (biscuits, scones, etc.) so if it's a little flaky or not super moist, it's not the end of the world to me. ... On that note, I was really pleased with the two scones I got from this bakery. Not only were they a good size, but they were also really cheap. The blueberry scones did indeed remind me of the ones I really like (but hardly get a chance to buy) from Diamond Head Bakery. They were chockfull of blueberries (which, I normally detest) but the blueberries just taste really good in this scone. The scone itself was not dry and tasted fresh, buttery and flaky. I ate that one first and saved the chocolate scone for the next day. A day later, it was still delicious and fresh tasting. I loved the fact that there were tons of chocolate chips in this scone. The scone had that same crumbly consistency as the blueberry one that I enjoyed the previous day, but I liked this one more because it had chocolate, of course. Sconees is slightly closer for me to get to, so if I'm ever craving one of those blueberry cream cheese scones, I know where to find my fix. They even have a good assortment of mini scones in different flavors, making it easy to mix-and-match and try different flavors. While the chocolate scone is still my pastry of choice, I look forward to trying more of their selection one day. read more

The owner and staff are always friendly. Great location - Love the lemon bars!! And my son thinks the custard pies are the best.

Scone review!! I actually love their berry (any berry) scones! People mention that it's dry. Yeah, it is, but something about the flakiness of the scone makes it so delicious. It's only barely mildly sweet, which I love! If you're looking for a super sweet dessert, these scones are not for you! A little secret: try going right before they close, they sometimes offer their scones for half off! read more

Ok. This review is just for the pumpkin custard pie. I happened to be in the area the day before Thanksgiving around lunch time and saw no line. Popped in and I think it was $12.50. I'll definitely get it for Thanksgiving next year. read more

My go to place during Thanksgiving for their pumpkin custard pie combo! Always good to be a regular! Had so much going on in our household this year ,(2019) that I was very distracted and forgot to put in my order for those traditional pies for the families, so calling the day before their phone was busy, which is what I did expect but kept trying since I live on the West side of the island! Seriously, I called at least a hundred times within 2 hours, that's all about the redial .. laughing about it now ... SO woke up early on Thanksgiving Day in hope to score those pies with the possibility that they made extras and they did! That's what I call good business! As always the families were happy and I was too having my breakfast with my family Thanksgiving morning! Happy Holiday 2019 to this business .. see you next year! read more

Yes, I love scones. Yes, I love THESE scones. Yes, I will drive from home for these scones. Yes, I will drive from home to pick up these scones to go to an office meeting. Yes, I live in Wahiawa...will drive all the way to Kaimuki and then back to my office near Ward for these delicious scones... Being that I live a bit far from town, whenever I am on this side of town I usually try to hit up a few places all at once. My usual routine whenever I have to go to the Kahala side is to stop at Great Harvest for a blueberry cream cheese scone, and then make my way down Waialae Ave before making that trek back home. Well, this time Great Harvest was out of scones, and I really wanted one. So, I whip out the almighty Yelp app. and search for scones nearby. The top on the list was this place.., Sconees Bakery. I quickly glanced over the reviews, skimmed thru the pics and gave my husband directions. We were lucky and found metered parking right across the street. I walked into this cute little bakery, with so much to choose from. Sometimes when there's so much to choose from I get all indecisive and just stand there debating what to get.. Thankfully for the great pics that other yelpers posted my husband told me exactly what he wanted (guava bar) instead of just "whatever looks good". I finally settled on a peach scone, blueberry cream cheese scone, and a lilikoi and guava bar. The guava bar was surprisingly not as sweet as i thought it would be. It was juuuuust right. My husband really liked it which I was even more surprised by because he's not a sweets kinda person. The lilikoi was just as good, but a little more on the sweet side. Finally, I saved the scones for last.... The blueberry cream cheese scone was even better than i had imagined it to be. It was buttery, soft, blueberried, and oh so yummy. I can't believe I was getting my scone fix down the road when this place was here the whole time! and what's even better is the prices. It's such a little bakery that the prices aren't all corporate crazy. Just writing my review about this place is making me want one... Luckily I have a meeting in town tomorrow. read more
