Some friends and I happened to stop by Scirocco in the mid-afternoon at the end of a challenging hike in the mountains around Positano. The owner, Antonio, was wonderful and welcoming as we helped ourselves to several plates of antipasti and several drinks. The food was fresh and excellent; Antonio brought out several different local meats and cheeses and tasty bruschetta. The restaurant overlooks the little glen that is Montepertuso, a village up on the cliffs over Positano. We really weren't looking forward to several hundred steps down to our hotel in Positano when Antonio offered us a ride back!
After telling our wives about this charming afternoon, we all went up the following evening. As his business card says, they will pick you up from Positano to bring you to the restaurant. I was a little apprehensive because I was afraid the dinner experience wouldn't meet up with my memories from the afternoon prior (tired, hungry, and finding tasty food and drink was a great moment), but it was a lovely evening. We had several antipastis, starters, and entrees and everyone was happy with their meals. The gnocchi was fluffy like a marshmallow (if all gnocchi was like that I'd order it more often). I had fish in 'crazy water', which appears to be a a tomato-based marinade / sauce. And mostly, Antonio is a wonderful host. We all took a photo with him at the end of the meal!
I strongly recommend this place if you're in Positano and looking to venture out a little. If you call ahead (he asks for an hour), they will drive you up (and back). A great place, where the food is at least as good as in Positano but less expensive. read more
