I don't trust this garage to give an honest price. They wanted almost $3000 to fix my car and would need at least 4 days. It cost almost $200 just to get that quote (which would be credited to the job if I fixed it with them). VERY SATISFIED. I have been taking a very old - 2003 - Honda Element "station car" to Sciaudones for the past 18 months - it was handed down to me and in need of alot of work. A small pressure valve under the manifold failed causing the engine light to activate. It was an expensive part $250 or so and then there was the labor to daignose it and replace it. The part failed about 5 months after they installed it. It turns out that the part was unavailable from Honda when they did the original repair, so they were forced to source the part from an aftermarket manufacturer, even though it is their preference to use OEM parts when they are available. When I returned the car, they were able to secure the part overnight from Honda, and they replaced it for free. I pointed out that even though the part may have been guaranteed, they would have to do all the labor etc, and eat the cost which didn't seem fair to me. Mike said that their work is guaranteed for 2 months no matter what. Great service, and Sciadones stand by their work. read more

I showed up a bit before they opened, the owner welcomed me in and told me they would perform the whole service. Later that afternoon, I got a call saying the car was done, ready to go! I have to disagree with Tippy P.' s review. As a woman who has had my cars serviced at Sciaudone's I have never felt ripped off or taken advantage of, quite the opposite. I have enjoyed having my vehicles serviced by Mike and his team and they've earned my business time and time again. It's also nice if you live in Norwalk to have a shop locally owned that you can trust, so you don't have to transport a car out of town to a dealership. I'm really disappointed writing this review and very confused by the other glowing reviews Sciaudone's Garage received previously. I moved to CT a few years ago from PA and have yet to find a garage that will do an oil change that won't cost an arm and a leg and will do it with no problems. I read the reviews on here and thought, "this is it! I finally found the place I can go to." Listen, I'm a woman. I don't know much about cars. I really depend on people's honesty and integrity when it comes to this stuff so what I experienced today has me really upset. The owner is very friendly and was happy to take me last minute. He couldn't guarantee an afternoon spot for me so I came in early. They had trouble getting the oil filter cap off (it was stuck) and told me it probably needed to be broken off and replaced just so they could do the job. I found out later that that actually is common for my car (Toyota Corolla) and it probably required a specific tool, which I'm assuming they didn't have or he damaged the cap by accident and used that as an excuse. I don't know. I told them it was fine, thinking the part would be $20. When he told me my total was 150 bucks my heart sank. How could that possibly be? I usually pay 60-80 bucks for an oil change because my car requires synthetic oil. I'm used to that. Because the cap got stuck, it took longer than usual and I was late for work so I paid it without question and left. They charged me almost $70 for the oil filter cap which is essentially a plastic piece and available online for about $30. I understand that there are markups, but double the price is outrageous. They also charged me over $10 for "shop supplies." When I called back asking about this, he said it was for "rags and cleaners" and when I told my dad this, he laughed out loud. In his over 60 years of life he had never heard of a shop charging for that. So, almost $150 bucks later my oil was changed successfully but I will never ever return here. I felt like an idiot and felt like I got taken advantage of. If Sciaudone wants to do right by me and offer a refund, I am happy to update my review... but for now, this is what it is. Avoid this place. P.S. FYI Don't try to use their online appointment scheduler. I submitted a request and never heard back from them and had to actually call. Not a big deal but slightly annoying. read more

Been bringing my cars (Subaru, Mazda& Mustang) to Mike for a while now, easy to drop off and pickup the car. I was looking for a new local mechanic and came across Scaudione's Garage. I'm really pleased with my experience there. It was very easy to make an appointment and I found that they were very informative over the phone so I can know what to expect. I dropped my car off at the set date and picked it up a few hours later without issue. Mike explained everything to me in detail which was very helpful. He also texted me a few days later to see if there were any issues. I really haven't had good experiences with mechanics until now so I am really glad I found this place. read more

I could be using the first three sentence's of the reviewer who got here first. I love these guys. I first dealt with them by email when I was getting estimates--I needed a new side mirror. The price they charged for the mirror and the labor and the paint was quite reasonable. Second time I went in, it was the dreaded "weird noise." You know the one I mean, the one you can't quite pinpoint the location of, the one that could be a scraping sound or a grinding sound. Mine turned out to be tires. I talked to Mike a little bit when I picked my car up this time. His grandfather started the business, and they have some third- and fourth-generation customers. When you are new in town, it's always hard to find a good garage. I found this place via the car talk website, and I couldn't be happier. They are up front, honest, and don't do excess work. Rates are reasonable and they'll tell you if they are too busy rather than taking your car and making you wait. I've taken two different cars here and was very pleased with the results, communication and cost. A coworker took a a car that was rattling in, expecting to need a new muffler or major work, they told him a bolt was loose, charged him $20 and sent him on his way happy as a clam. Not sure if they specialize in any makes or models, and they are closed on weekends but I have nothing bad to say about this place which is rare when discussing auto repair shops. read more

Four stars on Yelp is "Yay! I'm a fan." Five stars is "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" I've taken two vehicles to Sciaudone's garage and have been happy with their service and prices, so yes, I'm a fan. The jobs were small, but their labor prices were not gouging and the employees were nice. I did my due diligence in getting estimates from many other mechanics, and these guys have the most reasonable per hour wage that I've found for the quality of work they did. This week I'll be taking my second car in to have them (possibly) replace the alternator and look at leaky CV joints. I'll compare their estimates with other local garages, and will be updating this review to let you all know about the experience as it's the first major work I'll be taking to them. Assuming all goes well (which I fully expect given their ratings here) I'll be upgrading them to five stars if it truly is "as good as it gets!" Come back here for the updates so all you Yelpers can make the best informed decision when it comes to local mechanics! **UPDATE** Mike, the owner, was very forthcoming about the repairs needed for my car. He even suggested that I could wait to have the repairs done later as my CV joint wasn't in dyer need of replacement at that very moment. The alternator was dead, and their original estimate (which was WAY too high) was for the wrong part. Once everything was squared away I gave them a green light to fix everything, simply because I wanted to reward them with my business and take preventative measures. This place gets good reviews for some reason and may be good for some customers. We found they gouge you whenever they can with "replacing headlights" or 'charging for disgnostics".or "shop supplies" and such. We believed the reviews here and were ripped off as what they "fixed" were not fixed. Women beware. I think they see us as easy marks. read more

We have been taking our cars here for years and Mike is always very up front with us about cost. He only works on what we absolutely need fixed and doesn't do things unnecessarily, which is a credit to the honesty of this shop. We book online 99% of the time, and have never gone more than an hour without getting a response. After a hectic morning I accidentally punctured one of my tires on a snow bank. I needed my spare changed quite quickly so that my car was in working order for getting to a morning appointment and for picking my son up from preschool. I found Sciaudone's because it was within walking distance of the appointment, I'm so thankful! Mike was so kind and efficient and the pricing was so fair. In keeping with the hectic morning I accidentally left my purse there when I went in to pay (so embarrassing). Anyways, they called me to tell me I left it there and when I got back to their lot one of the men who work there was walking it out to me, so kind. We had our brakes on our 2008 Nissan Armada repaired here Summer 2015, after we had just moved to the area. We didn't have any personal recommendations, just went with this shop because of high ratings. Mr. Sciaudone was very polite and they did a great job communicating with us. Great service. Responsive. Honest. Fair. These are the traits I've been looking for in a mechanic and Sciaudone's Garage has all of them. I never leave reviews on Yelp, but Sciaudone's deserves my praise. I found them on Yelp based on all the glowing reviews, and I'm happy they lived up to them. I was desperate, my car wouldn't even make it out of my condo complex, let alone to a garage. Once my car was towed to the garage (with Mike's towing recommendation), their service and guidance was top notch. My past mechanic experiences around town have definitely left me with a sour taste in my mouth, but Mike and his team were honest with me and worked to fix the problem as economically as possible. They take their time to explain the issues with you and are honest with you about all of your options. In my situation, my car's computer had been soaked (thanks to a plugged a/c drain), and instead of throwing their hands up and telling me I needed a new computer, they did everything they could to salvage my old one. My car overheated on the highway as I was passing through Norwalk, and I figured I'd get taken advantage of since it was an emergency. After telling me it was too late in the day (today, a Friday) Mike then took pity on me and asked one of his employees to stay late if needed. (Good thing, because Enterprise was out of cars to rent.) This will be a near-perfect car repair experience (unless the repair is screwed up--doubt it). It ended up being a pretty quick fix, and they ordered the part and had it fixed right away. I was so impressed with the customer service, and all the workers were so friendly and helpful to me. Was worried about finding a mechanic, but after reading the reviews on Yelp we decided to try Sciaudone's... Was not disappointed at all! Our car needed quite a bit of work done as it had not been maintained, but the prices were fair and Mike and Dan only did he work that was needed. We gave them carte blanche to check everything and I think a lot of other mechanics (or retail shops) would have taken advantage but not this shop. Talk about honesty, fairness , and professionalism. It's not often nowadays you see businesses run the way they are supposed to, with integrity. It made my day to know there are still " family" businesses out there with values and morals.
