Paid over $330 for a "diagnosis". Left my car for three days while they were "analyzing the…read moreproblem". After three days I got a text telling me that they inspected my car and "there's a problem with the transmission." REALLY? REALLY?????? They did not identify a problem. "Something is broken inside" does not sound like a diagnosis. The only diagnosis was to tell me that I could spend ANOTHER $2000 for them to "break it down on the bench" and find out what was wrong and THEN it might cost ANOTHER $3000 to $5000 to actually fix something. I wonder why I spent over $330 only to be told the EXACT same thing that I told them when I drove in, "Something is wrong with the transmission". I have no idea what kind of actual work this place does. All I know is that they took $330 of my money and gave me nothing in return. I feel cheated. I believe that an honest mechanic deserves to be paid for his expertise, his knowledge and for the work that he accomplishes. Like any professional, his time is valuable. But an HONEST mechanic does not charge customers for promises made and not kept. He does not charge hundreds of dollars when he knows that it is just money down the drain. An HONEST mechanic would tell people up front that they cannot get a diagnosis for $330. An HONEST mechanic would tell customers that a diagnosis will be much more expensive because it involves so much work. Yes, a two thousand dollar diagnosis would chase away some customers, but at least it would be truthful. Even though this is my first car and I don't have much driving experience, I still knew that "something is wrong with the transmission." This was a con. What I got for my money was just an expensive lesson in human dishonesty and greed.

I was referred Croce's by another local automotive business (who THEY use to get transmissions…read morerebuilt, fyi), for a potential transmission rebuild and/or torque converter replacement. Tony and I took a test drive, after which he suggested my problem was NOT in my transmission... He had high confidence and made suggestions on next steps to diagnose some noises/problems I was having. Tony spent almost 30 minutes with me... I offered him money for his time and he refused. Top notch, locally owned and I would highly recommend them based on this experience.

Did some research on Yelp and Google and decided on AAMCO because of the reviews and my experience at other locations. Claire could not have been nicer to us and was extremely helpful in the process from estimation, contact during the repair, and follow up. Pricing was fair compared to other shops and less than the dealership. They also worked on the AC on the vehicle and wanted us to come back so they could check for leaks! Fair pricing, exceptional service, timely repair. I will continue to bring my repair work to AAMCO Norwalk!

I stopped into the AAMCO on Main Ave, and from the moment I walked in, Steve, the owner, greeted me with a smile, handshake and asked how he could help. As soon as I explained my concern, he didn't hesitate--he walked outside with me, popped the hood, and grabbed the right oil for my car. He topped it off, made sure everything was good to go, then shook my hand again and said, "I hope you get home safe." When I tried to pay, he wouldn't accept anything. Steve was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely caring. In a world where that kind of service is rare, I'm beyond grateful for his help. If you ever need auto service in Norwalk, this is the place to go. Thank you again, Steve--you made a stressful moment so much easier.

I took my old Range Rover in because it was making a sound when it hit bumps like something was loose. They diagnosed that it needed a lower control arm with ball joint and sway bar. they later called to say it needed ANOTHER control arm. They also list a ton of things that needed to be done additionally which I passed on as they were not issues yet. Got the car back the next day - noise was gone. However...... Immediately driving away I felt that the car felt like a brake was on. It didn't have the normal roll when put in drive and required more gas to get it moving. On the highway I felt huge vibrations. It was the weekend so I decided to take it back on Monday. Additionally, I found that I had to reset the clock that was off by several hours and I wondered what they did that would have required them to disconnect the battery. On Sunday, the battery was dead and I needed to pay to get a jump. Until now the battery and electrical were fine. I took it back on Monday and they immediately got defensive saying they didn't do anything. When I pointed out that the battery and power were fine when I brought the car in, the manager continually, and aggressively, told me not to say that. They said they would check the electrical but almost immediately told me I needed a new battery. I reminded them that it was fine when I brought the car in 3 days prior. As I needed to pick my daughter up from the airport, I agreed to ordering a new battery. When I returned to pick up the car the manager was gone and the assistant explained that the manager had added $108 or 0.8 (48 mins) labor for changing the battery and testing it. A job I can do in 5 mins and that auto zone does for free. I pointed out that I never approved the charge and the assistant shrugged and said the boss did it. As I was in a hurry I paid, making my displeasure known and texted the manager the next morning. He refused to refund the charge that I had not approved. It should also be noted that they were unable to figure out why the car was vibrating between 35-60 mph... so I had to take it to the dealership.
