I have several imported cars and needed a high quality repair shop for them. I spoke with Diego, he assured me he would be able to fix my car. my car sat for three weeks without being touched. Diego kept telling "I'll get to it tomorrow, Monday, Tuesday, etc. I'm very busy, I have other customers. ". eventually I had the car towed out of here. very negative experience that I wouldn't want anyone else to endure. Find a more professional customer focused shop. Tengo varios autos importados y necesitaba un taller de reparación de alta calidad para ellos. Hablé con Diego, me aseguró que podría arreglar mi auto. Mi auto estuvo parado durante tres semanas sin que lo tocaran. Diego seguía diciendo "mañana, lunes, martes, etc., me pongo a ello. Estoy muy ocupado, tengo otros clientes. ". Al final hice que la grúa sacara el coche de aquí. Experiencia muy negativa que no quisiera que nadie más sufriera. Encuentre una tienda más profesional y centrada en el cliente. read more

I have been going to Diegos Mechanics for 10+ years, the repair is always completed quickly and at a very reasonable price. It's a family owned shop that is always accommodating to my needs. What really stands out is their honesty - they don't try to upsell me on unnecessary services, which I really appreciate. I couldn't be happier with the level of service I receive. Highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for trustworthy, efficient, and affordable auto repairs! read more

I recently purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey that had been sitting for over 6 months. It needed a new starter and was misfiring horribly and making an awful knocking sound. They did a complete check on the vehicle. They checked spark plugs, compression, fuel injectors and even removed the catalytic converter to check if it was clogged. Finally they checked the timing and found I was misaligned by 3 teeth. Moreover, the belt tensioner was bent to hell. They fixed my car in one day. I'm extremely satisfied with their work. When I pulled up to pick up my car, I found one of the techs shining up the front end of my car which was the extra touch that impressed me. I will return with all my future needs and recommend Diego's Mechanics to everyone who wants quality work at prices that don't break the bank. read more

In this day and age you want to go where you can build a relationship with those who work within ypur life, that you will surely need for years to come. That's why I choose to come here to Diego's Mechanics at 429 West Main Street in Stamford, Connecticut 06902. I first learned of them a few years ago when my car died at the hospital. They towed me on a snowy day and saved my Greta. She needed a new starter. Now it is time for an oil change but could really use a tune up, which is what Greta got. Diego was such a help. Great work and not crazy prices like a dealership. Bring your Betsy or TomTom in for their oil change. They will thank you by running you around without choking on old oil but the new, fresh gold that has cars purr... read more

quality work especially for the heavy lift jobs that require attention to detail and old fashion troubleshooting.

The good: replaced turbo that was working (but making a noise), and I have not had any issues with it in the months since they replaced it. They explained the issue thoroughly, which was helpful for someone like me who likes to know what's going on. The bad: upon picking up the car, there were several dash warning lights on that were not on when the car was dropped off. O2 sensors had mysteriously become faulty during the repair. They accepted no fault and charged $550 or so to replace, including a $50 charge to plug in their computer to diagnose, which I felt wasn't right, since 1). They must have caused it, and 2). I already told them that my AccessPort read that it was the O2 sensors...but only the ones on the part of the exhaust that they worked on. Instead of having the O2 sensors replaced elsewhere, I just had them do the repair. Covid delays (that were not their fault) caused them to have the car for over a week, so I just needed it back. I've had no issues on those or any O2 sensors since. A month later, I noticed my Cobb turbo heat shield was missing, though I never contacted them about this. It's only $75, so it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to convince them that it was there when I dropped it off. I really wanted this relationship to work because of the location convenience, but I won't be returning. Their repair prices seemed a lot higher than I'm used to, and while I try and give the benefit of the doubt to people, I left with concerns of integrity, which isn't something I want in a mechanic. read more

Diego and his son do reliable work at a good price. They are always willing to work with our schedules.

Needed to acknowledge the most Amazing customer service and work completed by Diego's shop. They addressed the reason for my visit. Took extra measures wiping down areas touched with Alcohol. Showed me part taken out... Super bonus... had hand sanitizer on deck, wore mask and gloves.. they put down the paper to protect my carpets... Super bonus... the small things that matter to me... the little attention to details. read more

Never ever go to this place. They rip you off. I went there because of the issue with wheel bearing. The owner told me it would cost $850 to replace my wheel bearing along with 4 tires. I checked and those still has life. But he insisted me again and again. So we came down $500 to replace wheel bearing and 1 tire. They charged 2 hours of labor which is like whooping $276 for labor for wheel bearing and tire replacement which is like 1/2 hr to 1hr job. This is so pathetic and I really don't know how they go to sleep doing this everyday. It is $95.33/hr for the labor. They made money on parts and on labor. I am attaching you the invoice copy and please check it. read more

They are trustworthy and excellent mechanics!

They were quick and easy, car was fixed quickly and properly ! Very happy with the cleanliness of their work!

I ran over a truck tire after midnight Friday night on 95s. I ended up getting a hotel and taking the car to Diego's the next morning. They were so professional, and they were so attentive that they resolved the problem in less than 3 hours. I would definitely come by here if I lived near by read more

To give you an idea of how good Diego's Mechanics is, I live in Ohio, but still will ONLY take my vehicle to Diego's Mechanics in Stamford, and save my Automotive Servicing for when I travel back to Stamford. read more

Recently my starter in my Xterra had failed, which I found strange since it was suppose to be a new starter I purchased from and replaced by Diego's Mechanic. Diego even talked me into replacing it with a brand new unit instead of a remanufactured unit and charged me almost $400 for part and labor. Fast forward, my truck wouldn't start a few weeks ago and it turned out to be the starter, leaving me stranded. What was SHOCKING was when my mechanic removed my old starter from under the truck, it was an old remanufactured (as factory stamped) starter, and the brand name didn't even match what was written on the receipt Diego gave me. I live in Manhattan now and it wasn't feasible for me to go back to Diego's, especially since my current mechanic was only charging me $200 for a new starter and labor included and took all of 30 minutes to replace. To sum it up, I was ripped off by Diego and his smooth talking personlity. Clearly they're dishonest and over-priced. Shame how a fast few extra bucks they swindled from me would cost them much more in lost business from my review. SHAME ON YOU, Diego's Mechanics. DISHONEST AND LIES!! read more

Diego's took advantage of a late night breakdown I had in Stamford to charge $850 to change two radiator hoses and a thermostat. Labor cost was more than double what it should have been, and actually for more hours than the car was in his shop. read more

I brought my car to Diego on a friend's recommendation 10 years ago. Since then I have gone nowhere else. I bring him all my vehicles from brand new imports direct from the dealer, to the old daily drivers I give to the kids. I will never buy a used car without showing it to Diego first. When you take your car in he will inspect everything and tell you what it must have to be safe, what it needs to be reliable, what you can defer until later, and what to keep an eye on. His prices as fair, his work is excellent, he gets the job done fast, and most importantly he is TRUSTWORTHY! Mechanics have a long reputation if ripping people off, but not here. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE! read more

My car broke down in Stamford. It was a Sunday afternoon and I managed to drop it off at Diego's shop which was nearby. I called Diego's phone number and he answered the phone on a Sunday and let me know that it would be ok to leave the car there. Diego took a look at the car and fixed everything that was needed the next day. He did a great job and had excellent communication and service. Thanks Diego! read more

Not really happy with the service that was given. I went in there because of a weird noise my car was doing I got charged 50 so they can check it, and it turns out that nothing was wrong so they told me I had to get other stuff done and got charged 200 the noise still kept going took it to another place and it was the front wheel bearings so basically they ripped me off. read more

Absolutely great service. Service was done professionally, Diego was very personable and does not rush you on anything. I would recommend to anyone. read more

A friend recently asked for a recommendation on a good local mechanic and when I was googeling Diego's exact address, I noticed that there were two negative reviews and was honestly very surprised. I have been a customer of Diego's for many years. Prior to Diego I would take my car to Lexus of Greenwich for all maintenance and repairs. Each time I came home with a bill that was insane, even for routine maintenance and a "car wash." Finally when I needed to have actual work done. I went to Diego, it wasn't just about cost but the way he treated me. He listened and worked with me. Something that Lexus wanted me to replace to the tune of 100s of dollars, Diego managed to fix before I truly needed a replacement. He is very honest and accommodating and this is why we take all of cars to him for service. read more

Honest. Good value. I have been coming to Diego for years. I have bought cars and trucks here. I have a Silverado with 297,000 miles that I bought from him 50,000 miles ago. I have tried to be a good customer with realistic expectations and Diego has always done everything he can to deliver great service. I have recommended him to my family and friends. read more
