Rob and Jerry checked it out promptly, and Rob called a couple of hours later to let me know it was a false alarm. Not only that, but he took the time to give me a detailed education about this car and transmission which will be extremely helpful in the future in deciding how long to keep this car on the road. Could not have been more informative! PLUS - he refused to take any money since he didn't actually need to do any repairs! Transmissions are not something I (or most people) know a lot about. If I was told it needed expensive repairs, I wouldn't have known any different. You can trust them!!! Jerry, Rob and crew are good people. They are competent, professional, prompt, reasonable and just plain nice. You can't go wrong here! p.s. over the years with those three previous cars, two of them had real transmission issues and Jerry recommended NOT repairing them; the third was also a false alarm. So - they have never actually billed me for anything. Scary honest people!

The Hyundai dealership noted that I needed to get my transmission serviced a few months back (car is around 78K, and I had already serviced it once before around 55K). I was skeptical, so I wanted a second opinion. I called Jerry's and they explained the policy- bring it in early morning, give them time to look at it and we'll go from there. They called around lunch with good news- nothing wrong with the car! I was curious why I would be told that and the simple answer was, " they wanted to make some $$$ off of you, but your car is fine." I will only go here for transmission issues from now on. I just wish they did more than just transmissions. Rare to find honest, affordable mechanics these days.

Picked up my $1600 "tranny repair" only to see same drips on my floor later that same day. Took it to my regular shop who were too busy to look at it originally and they quickly fixed a leaky power steering hose directly above the tranny and fixed for $300. I dare say Mr. Bruce is a sheikster and sham by trade, criminal actually. Steer clear and drive the extra 20 minutes in the other direction to a shop you can trust.

After three days I got a text telling me that they inspected my car and "there's a problem with the transmission." REALLY? REALLY?????? They did not identify a problem. "Something is broken inside" does not sound like a diagnosis. The only diagnosis was to tell me that I could spend ANOTHER $2000 for them to "break it down on the bench" and find out what was wrong and THEN it might cost ANOTHER $3000 to $5000 to actually fix something. I wonder why I spent over $330 only to be told the EXACT same thing that I told them when I drove in, "Something is wrong with the transmission". I have no idea what kind of actual work this place does. All I know is that they took $330 of my money and gave me nothing in return. I feel cheated. I believe that an honest mechanic deserves to be paid for his expertise, his knowledge and for the work that he accomplishes. Like any professional, his time is valuable. But an HONEST mechanic does not charge customers for promises made and not kept. He does not charge hundreds of dollars when he knows that it is just money down the drain. An HONEST mechanic would tell people up front that they cannot get a diagnosis for $330. An HONEST mechanic would tell customers that a diagnosis will be much more expensive because it involves so much work. Yes, a two thousand dollar diagnosis would chase away some customers, but at least it would be truthful. Even though this is my first car and I don't have much driving experience, I still knew that "something is wrong with the transmission." This was a con. What I got for my money was just an expensive lesson in human dishonesty and greed.

It was right before Thanksgiving and they took care of my car issue in less that a week, meanwhile I took it to the dealer before hand and it took them a week to tell me what was wrong with my car, they also didn't fix the issue that I took it in for, but instead they took it upon themselves to do other work on the car that I didn't ask them to do and billed me for it, the total cost was about $1,800 dollars and my car was in the same condition that I brought it into them for. To make matter worse, they wanted to charge me $6.800 dollars to replace my transmissions on top of what they had already charge me. A total rip off the deader are especially when the warranty has expired. I had a choice as to where I wanted to take my vehicle for servicing, but I chose N & M Transmissions because it was local to where I live, and I'm glad I did. Not only did they display great technical knowledge about transmissions, but they impressed me with their honesty, a rare commodity with auto mechanics these days. They explained everything to me in great detail so that I knew everything they were doing or planning to do, so there were no surprises. They're honest mechanic, they also told me about some other issues that I had with my car that the dealer should had taken care of. n &m rebuild my transmission on my 2005 ford escape and just shy of a year of the work being done…read moreon the same month but 4 days of 1 year the tranni started failing so i went back and told him the problem and i only put 11,ooo miles on it he offerd to change the tranni oil and after he did that i drove off and the car broke down. i truly think he did that to force me to rebuild the tranni with him again. do not trust this place and i highly recommend that this place is not trustworthy. do not go there or you will be extreamly sorry. obviously the owner will lie and do anything for money!!

They basically told me the mouse totaled the engine and would cost $1,000s to replace. Huge song and dance how bad it was and had to order all new wire harnesses including an entire washing hose kit. Ridiculous. Thank goodness I walked out. I went to Mini in Darien and they fixed the wire and the washer leak with a new hose for $150 including labor. Stating what happened was minor. One wire and one hose. And this was dealer, so shout out to them for being knowledgeable and honest. My second chance was today. My daughter needed help to fix a nail in the tire that was at 5/32. Enough tread life to justify a patch. They said I had to replace the tire, took them all day to tell me that. She went down the road and got it fixed it in 20 minutes! Enough said. Stay away.
