Back in 2012, My 1999 Lexus truck transmission was blown on the Merrit PKWY. My insurance company covered my tow to the nearest transmission shop which was Conn Quality Transmission in Stamford Conn. Vinny called me the next day and told me he can rebuild my transmission for over $4000. Of course, I really had no choice so I agreed to the job. When I picked up the truck after the job, I also saw that he charged me $250 for a brake rotor which he claimed I needed. I was a bit pissed but let it go. About 8000 miles later, the truck was having problems engaging into drive and reverse when parked. I brought the car to Vinny, who did a transmission service and charged me $250 AND also charged me $40 for a muffler clamp?! which he claimed I needed. Next, the same problem came back very soon after that. I brought the car back to him again, and he claims this time that its an electrical issue with the transmission. I was very upset at this point and he said he will try to clean the electrical parts in the valve body to see if that will help. After he did that, it seemed to solve that problem. About 4000 miles later, now my transmission is slipping and banging into gears. Today, I lost the function of "overdrive" and now only drives up to 3rd gear. Its obvious the transmission is shot and about to blow again soon. Transmissions are supposed to last close to 100,000 miles ... this lasted not even 20,000 miles. The car was not abused because its my wife's car and she drives it like a baby, and mostly locally. Iam absolutely disgusted with this transmission shop. Of course, Iam out of warranty because he only gives a 1 yr, 12,000 mile warranty. Now Iam stuck in a situation where this transmission is going to blow any day now, and the car's net value is worth close to nothing for a trade in because of the situation. I read other bad reviews about this shop also.
I wanted to make sure that this transmission will last for a long time. He assured me that he was in business for 35 yrs and is the best in what he does BLAH BLAH BLAH.
