Overall the food tasted pretty authentic but 2 points were knocked off. The dish in my post with a lot of cucumbers is not how that dish should have looked. The restaurant added too much cucumbers and not enough jelly fish. It didn't even looked like their own picture in the menu. My wife had asked the server about why the dish looked like that and her attitude was very defensive and said that's how they make it. If that's how they make it why did it looked different from their own menu picture? The dessert dish came as the second dish and the other server said they serve whatever is ready....well there is a reason why it's a dessert dish! Again food is good but it's the attitude. I gave a 3 star because the food was authentic

never come. The menu is totally fake, the picture in the menu looks good while the dishes are awful. We ordered the Braised Pork with Chestnuts. But there was no chestnuts. Not EVEN ONE chestnut can be found. Chicken is not fresh at all, even worse than homemade dishes. The waiter recommended Grilled Mutton, which is almost 90 percent of onion and less than 10 percent of meat. The menu is all fake. It's cheating customers.

I ordered delivery from Schouse while in town for business, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. I don't have high hopes for food scene here since I'm spoiled with the Bay Area food options and qualities. But I'm glad I tried Schouse, and I've bookmarked it in case I'm back here again in the future. I ordered the pudding tofu with beef and boy choy with mushrooms. Both tasted great and they also honored your special requests for food prep. The pudding tofu with beef has just the right kick, and the beef is very flavorful, the tofu is silky and has a great soybean taste as well. The boc choy was also well prepared, not too greasy either. Great Szechuan food in the area, and I definitely recommend checking it out!

Schouse continues to provide exceptionally tasting food. The food is among the best Chinese food, I've had in the area. Everything is so flavorful, prepared to perfection, and absolutely delectable. (The only caveat would be the egg drop seaweed soup, which came with our lunch special. It was not good at all, but I'm keeping my original rating, since the entrees are so good) I've never had a better tasting pan fried chicken dumpling! For main entrees, I've had Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce, Kung Po Chicken, Broccoli with Chicken, Eggplant with Garlic Suave. All are outstanding. Please note the number of chili peppers next to each dish indicating level of "hotness"! Although, we went with more mainstream entrees, the majority of the options are very unique and not ones I have seen on other Chinese restaurant menus. Hot and Spicy Diced Rabbit, Shredded Pig Ear, Duck Blood Soup, Spicy Frog, and Sautéed Pork Intestine to name a few are among the very unique offerings on their menu. If you are an adventurous eater, this place has got your number. Since, I only eat chicken and seafood, my offerings were limited, but I would return here without hesitation! There is outdoor dining as well as a large inside dining area. Service is efficient.

I went back here recently and it's always extremely busy and there aren't a lot of veg options like I remember.

Delicious Szechuan restaurant on Nassau Street in downtown Princeton. Very authentic, many dishes I would not eat, but had a delicious lunch there! Looking for someplace really good and dropped in here for lunch. I can tell you the inside is beautiful and very charming. A very authentic place for Szechuan food. I'll be honest and say that there were many things on the menu that I would probably never eat. And I'm pretty, adventurous! But I bet they're all delicious! I settled for a more familiar fare with their beef and vegetables meal. I did not order from the lunch menu which had lots of choices that would easily suit my palette. I ordered off the menu. It was a big serving and came with delicious rice. It was extremely delicious and for a beef and vegetable dish about as good as it could get. It's obvious the owners take great care in the restaurant and put lots of pride into their work. Highly recommended for authentic Szechuan in downtown Princeton.

Came here for dinner while in Princeton; maybe my standards are too high for a small college town, but was honestly underwhelmed. This is supposed to be a Szechuan spot, but both of the meat dishes were not spicy at all. Fish fillet with hot pepper - probably the best of the three dishes. The fish was nice and crispy, and although it lacked heat, I felt that the seasoning was flavorful. I did feel that the bread to fish ratio on many of the pieces was a bit too high. Beef brisket - The brisket wasn't that tender, and I found myself chewing for a very long time and leaving with lots of pieces of meat stuck between my teeth. A lot of the pieces of bell pepper and onion were also undercooked. Cucumber w/ garlic sauce - Tasted fresh and garlicky, but was undersalted

one of the better chinese places in the princeton area, I'd take someone here. always pretty busy but not too loud. service can be slow and it can take a bit of time to get seated recommend: cabbage, dry pots

Spicy Chicken w.Chongqing Style (Chicken, dry chili, szechuan pepper). Addictive.

We visited on a rainy afternoon on a weekday and settling into a place like this for lunch was perfect. Since moving to the area, I've been looking for a place that had more than the typical American-Chinese food, and more specifically a place that had Chongqing style chicken (chicken, dry chili, szechuan pepper). Jackpot! This chicken is seriously addictive. Crispy and the right level of spice. We also ordered a pot of tea, steamed pork soup buns, pudding tofu with salted egg yolk, lamb with hot pepper, and sweet sticky rice for dessert. All very good. Our favorites were the chicken and pudding tofu with salted egg yolk (the latter we tried based on seeing pictures on yelp). Service was polite and quick. I've still yet to eat at many restaurants in the downtown Princeton area. From what I can tell so far, there seem to be many expensive restaurants with average food and fewer good casual places with service. So I'm very glad to have visited and know this exists- will definitely be back.

While I did say this place is a , I would say it is more on the 3.5 than anything else as this place is a very solid Chinese restaurant. I haven't ordered everything from here but I would say that the diverse food that I ordered, almost all of it was really solid except for braised pork was a bit too saucy and the taste was a little bit all over the place. My favorite was pork intestine and jellyfish. Overall I think this place is a good Chinese place to try and one of the better ones in the area. As I have tried almost all of the Chinese around and I would have to say that this one does kick it up a notch in terms of presentation and taste especially with the Sichuan sauce as a favorite.

Excellent authentic Szechuan in Princeton! Haven for SPICY FOOD lovers. Feeling adventurous, or looking for a good burn? Go for 5/5 "Hell". Wow! TASTY AND BEAUTIFUL! ++ Stir fry pork kidney. Tender, spicy AF and delicious! Watch out. It's a 4/5 spiciness, and the server warns you about it before you commit. It's not stinky or stiff, but this is definitely not a protein for beginners. I loved it. Cold Szechuan Noodles. Sweet and mild (1/5) and still has a great spiciness that builds over several bites. Great flavors. Deep fried pumpkin dessert. Brand new, good texture and sweetness. They're still working on it, so give your feedback! I look forward to coming back! I haven't had good Szechuan in years! Love this spot!

I honestly really liked this place and was working my way through the menu. I was a regular weekly customer and was starting to know the servers all by name. However tonight the owner/manager/chef decided to have a heated argument with me on the patio after dinner. Having dinner with my parents, we ordered double cooked pork and mapo tofu which were both great, these are the two dishes we order weekly. Our third dish is something new each visit and so far, they were also very tasty. Tonight we ordered the Stir-Fried Kidney which was absolutely terrible. It's a dish I've ordered at multiple different restaurants and I really enjoy. When it arrived at the table, we all excited took a scoop to our plates. However on first bite, the kidney was string tough overcooked way way way too spicy and STINKY! I think they chef knew that it was bad and tried to hide it with a ridiculous amount of spice. We eat here all time, I know what their "normal" level of spice is. This made me tear up and stop eating. I wouldn't have complained if it was only too spicy as that wouldn't be their fault, but it was STINKY. We immediately called the server over to tell him it was stinky and he took it back inside. He was soon back out with the plate to tell us that the kidney just arrived today so it couldn't possibly be bad. He tried to put the plate back on the table and I told him that we didn't want it. We proceeded to try to enjoy the rest of our meal with totally smoked taste buds. When the check arrived, I saw that the kidney was still on my bill. I told the server that the kidney shouldn't be on my bill as we sent it back. She told me to go talk to the boss lady inside. He called her out to the front counter where she once again told me that the kidney was fresh and arrived that day and couldn't possibly be stinky. She also told us that we ate most of the dish so she couldn't take it off the bill. I very simply told her that I wouldn't be paying for the kidney as it was stinky, we didn't eat it after an initial bite, and we sent it back. I told her to get me a corrected bill and went back to my table outside. The boss lady followed me out and started threatening to call the cops if we didn't pay the full check with her cell phone in hand. I hate making a scene anywhere but at this point I was rather upset. I told her to call the cops if she wanted to and I would happily wait for them to arrive. I once again told her the dish was stinky, bad and inedible. It got rather loud and everyone on the patio and much of the street was looking at us at this point. She went back inside and shortly after a large man with an apron on came out, possibly the chef. He immediately started screaming at us that we had better pay for the dish. He said that if we got upset stomach tonight then he would refund our money tomorrow. Another round of the same comments commenced, very loudly. At this point as they clearly weren't going to back down, I put enough cash down to cover the bill minus the kidney, handed a nice tip directly to our server, and then we left. I will never be back. It's such a shame because while I didn't enjoy the kidney dish at all, I definitely would have kept going their to keep trying more of their menu. It was a place I looked forward to going each weekend. Such poor customer service from the owners. On my way out, I told them I was yelp elite and would be leaving them a review according to my experience there, I am keeping my word. Such a shame.

For this year's Chinese New Year, I decided to take the family there for our New Year dinner, and the food was just as good as I remembered. Since some of my family and friends don't enjoy the same spice level as I do, we adjusted the heat for dinner, and everything still came out fantastic. We ordered the whole steamed fish, happy fish, green beans, tea smoked duck, pork chop, beef pan fried noodles, and more. Every dish was delicious, and the flavors were spot on. The service was a bit tentative at times, but the quality of the food definitely made up for it. Overall, it was a wonderful meal and a great way to celebrate. It seems that both the pepper steak and chicken with broccoli were in the same sauce (& I've actually found that to be common in this area for some reason) but were tasty overall. The egg roll was quite greasy and the wonton soup was pretty solid with the broth being the star. Oh the white rice was cooked how I expect and wish all Chinese white rice is cooked so that's a plus. Overall a true 3.5 star rating but since halves aren't possible I had to go to 3 because it certainly wasn't a 4.

When it comes to food, I never judge a burger by its bun, so thanks to Yelp for helping me find it. The sign in the window says "Asian fusion" which usually sends me running as it's often a cop-out label for bad mixed-up Asian cooking, but this is authentic y'all, meaning true-to-tradition dishes with a sometimes more contemporary application of ingredients or flavors. The "fusion" part must come from the fact that they have a small Taiwanese section as well as the main Szechuan/Sichuan menu, alongside a few familiar Chinese-American favorites like sesame chicken or broccoli x protein, so you can get that here too. Everything we ordered was phenomenal! Great flavors, generous portions, cooked with confidence and finesse. Compliments to the kitchen - they really know what they're doing. Not a single dish was lacking. They even put out peanuts at the start and serve fresh orange slices at the end of the meal. Very old school. We loved it all: * Salt & white pepper crispy chicken ("Taiwanese specialty") - well-battered and flavored, and perfectly crispy * Taiwanese minced pork rice * Chicken red curry - fabulous, with fresh vegetables and just the right balance of spice * Golden dish (fish) - very special dish in a salted duck egg yolk batter * Beef chow fun * Marinated crispy duck Wish I lived closer, but will definitely come back when we are in the area.
