I opened the containers and felt that quiet sense of hope a hungry person feels when the aromas drift upward and promise a good evening. It is always a pleasure when those promises are kept. I ordered the pineapple fried rice and the portion was enormous. It felt like opening a treasure chest filled with bright colors, roast pork, and warm spice. The seasoning worked perfectly with the sweetness of the pineapple. Nothing was timid. Every bite had a lively balance of heat, sweetness, and savory depth. For the price I paid, it felt almost like a small miracle in a paper box. My wife ordered three sushi rolls and she was happy with all of them. She enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll and the tuna avocado roll. But the spicy tuna roll was the star of her show. She generously offered me a piece. The heat was lively but not overwhelming and the filling tasted clean and fresh. There was no excess rice, no unnecessary filler, just a satisfying ratio of fish to rice that let the tuna shine. It is one of the better spicy tuna rolls I have had in quite some time. In Princeton you can find more refined or experimental Asian restaurants if that is what you want. But you will also find prices that may affect your credit rating. Tiger Noodles stands apart because it offers generous portions, honest flavors, and a price point that feels almost out of place in the neighborhood. Tried the Lo Mein here and was pleasantly surprised!!The noodles were perfectly cooked--soft with just the right amount of chew--and the sauce had a great balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors. Lots of fresh veggies mixed in and the portion size was generous.. I ordered the chicken Lo Mein and the meat was tender and flavorful. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it could've used just a touch more seasoning or spice to really make it pop. But overall,super satisfying and definitely something I'd order again. You get very little for what you pay for. I ordered a poke bowl - it was more like 1/2 a bowl. Some of the menu ingredients, like edamame, carrots, crunch are in such minimal amounts, and are barely noticeable. I would need a magnifying glass and flashlight to ascertain their inclusion. Note that the teriaki chicken, is just that. Nary a broccoli branch, or green bean - nota, are to be found. Typically, I'm used to getting more veggies than meat in similar venues, so maybe I should not complain. Should have read the fine print, or no print. I liked the chicken with broccoli, and my nephew enjoys their vegetable udon noodle soup (substituting the mushrooms for tofu at no additional cost which is great). TLDR: solid Chinese food that's a few steps more authentic than takeout. Also good service. We ordered moo shu pork, salt and pepper shrimp, Mongolian beef (pictured), hot and sour soup, and scallion pancake (not pictured). The moo shu pork filling was tasty, but the wrapper was slightly tough and could have been warmer. The sauce on the side covered it up, and made it nice to eat though. The salt and pepper shrimp was the best part of the meal- we were given a generous portion of plump shrimp. It was fried so that the shrimp was both perfectly crisp and well cooked. The salt and pepper seasoning was solid too. Would definitely get it again. The Mongolian beef was was pretty standard stir fried meat and veggies. Tasted good but nothing too special. Hot and sour soup was above average quality. It was hot (temperature wise), had good flavor, and a balanced amount of toppings. The scallion pancake a delight. It was crispy and well seasoned but also had a pleasant bit of chew. Paired with the slightly tangy dipping sauce the scallion pancake was a great starter that I would order again. Tiger Noodles has been a Princeton establishment for years. The food is good and service quick.  They have kept their prices at a slightly lower price point than other Chinese places.  With a Princeton zip code that is a bonus! The 3.5 overall rating is fairly correct. It's not the best Chinese, but not the worse by far. They offer both a large indoor seating area as well as outside dining. We ordered the Chicken with Eggplant, General Tao's Tofu, and the Mongolian Beef. All three of these dishes were good.  The portions seemed smaller than previous visits, because last time my mom and I split an entree and this time the portion sizes were too small to share. Tiger Noodles is an excellent noodle house. It's not haute cuisine. You don't come here for Peking Duck or Abalone. They do stir fry noodles and soups. Last night we went again (after, probably a year) and had a totally different experience. The food, which we used to love, was disappointing. My family thinks this is the best Chinese food in Mercer County. We love the Generals chicken, the MuShu chicken, egg rolls, the hot and sour soup, the lo meins and the shrimp shu mai dumplings. They improved the inside restaurant with new furniture and bigger eating space over the years and they are so very friendly. Like Ahab chasing his whale we always seem to be in pursuit of the elusive, "best this" and "most amazing that" but in reality, what's wrong with a spectacularly competent local Chinese take-out joint that never disappoints. I'll take my usual order of Hot and Sour soup, Kung Pao Tofu, Chicken Broccoli and be perfectly content with the consistently satisfactory outcome that never underwhelms my pleasure center. Really 3.5. Quite decent for an inexpensive lunch. Although food was not exceptional (I reserve giving 4 rating to something exceptional), our meal was tasty and appealing. We had a basic noodle dish--and we agreed that was the best of the two. We also had a chicken and eggplant dish with brown rice. Server said it was spicy but we did not find it so. We were looking for a spot to have a nice dinner & we came across their beautiful & busy outdoor space. The staff welcomed us in & told us it would be a 5 minute wait, not a big deal. We sat down & had a beautiful view of Princeton.. We ordered the pan fried vegetable dumplings and they came out decently quick. You could tell they make them in house- we think- because the contents of the dumpling were fresh. We think there was some sort of lettuce in there so we didn't think it was possible it was a frozen dumpling. For our entrees we got the vegetable lo mein with pan fried tofu. So when my toddler asked for noodles I thought let's see what this place has to offer. Generally I would say it's your standard chinese food restaurant with a large Princeton step up. We have done the Lo Mein and the crispy noodles (don't remember the exact name.) She happily ate up both dishes. The portions are family share size and priced in traditional chinese fashion. So we always have a good amount to bring home. Overall a little pricy to make the toddler happy but worth it for a once a month visit. I generally like the place despite them messing up some take out orders. I usually order Chicken with Cashews and it comes out fine. My second choice is Sweet and Sour Chicken, which is not so great. The chicken used in other dishes is basically uncoated and nice white meat. The chicken used in Sweet and Sour is coated , then cooked. It seems that the chicken in Sweet and Sour is of far lessor quality than other dishes. It is mainly skin and sinew, hidden in the coating where it won't be noticed. It is not the nice white meat chicken used in other dishes. I have experienced this on at least three occasions and won't be ordering that dish anymore. I can't help but think the chicken scraps from other dishes are used in the Sweet and Sour. read more

Randomly stumbled across this place during a night out in Princeton and I'm so glad we did! Indoor: plenty of seating and no wait to get seated on a Friday night around 8 PM surprisingly. Service: Fast and so friendly! Food: plenty of vegetarian options. Serving size was very large portions. Affordable & the food came out pretty fast. The only downfall was all of the food was drenched in a lot of soy sauce :/ if you are like me and don't like too much soy sauce - I would suggested asking them if you can order that on the side. We visited Tiger Noodle after spending some time in Princeton site seeing. Though small, this restaurant was friendly and inviting. Our waiter was super sweet and offered their advice when ordering. We left belly's full of delicious ramen, sushi, one of their house chicken dishes, and pineapple fried rice. Upon leaving, my son left is brand new Princeton sweat shirt at the table. Excellent Chinese food located right on the Main Street in Princeton. They have lots of seating and can accommodate larger parties. Everything we had was fresh and cooked well. We started with the scallion pancake, vegetable dumplings shrimp rolls. For dinner we shared the mango chicken, vegetable lo Mein and chicken and broccoli. I'd gone to the now closed Route 1 Tiger Noodles a couple of times, but had never been to the original on Nassau. Our first visit was on a whim (we parked in front of it while picking up some fish across the street), and with a collective shrug of the shoulders we went inside for a noodle soup lunch. I was going to go with the duck noodle soup, but was thrown off course by the menu description which said it was only one of a few soups that didn't have "Homestyle Noodles". Instead, I ordered the dumpling noodle soup. Turns out that "Homestyle" means that they're just regular Udon noodles. They're not homemade (when we asked the waiter, we were told that they're made in NYC), so shame on me for getting faked out by that bit of crafty writing. They're fresh noodles and all, and they tasted just fine, just want to be sure that nobody thinks that they're getting homemade noodles. Noodle drama aside, the broth in my noodle soup was really good. You could tell from the flavor that there was a lot more than just chicken going on there. The dumplings were good (I like a bit more ginger, but that's just me) and there were plenty of fresh vegetables in it as well. It was just the ticket, and at $10 well worth the price. My wife had the Little Bit of Everything bowl. Imagine Hot & Sour soup with noodles and without the sour, and you'll be pretty close to knowing how this tastes. On our 2nd visit here, waiter was borderline obnoxious and 100% brusque. Dropping the plates on the table instead of placing them, griping about the order in which an order was given, etc. Our Scallion pancakes tasted like refried leftovers. They were hard and flavourless, and I doubt that they used hot water when making the dough. Other than that, we were good to go. I had duck with leeks, which tasted just fine, and my wife's noodle chicken soup was as good as the ones we'd had the previous visit. Since we live so close to Schezuan House, I don't ever see us coming here for dinner, but more noodle soup lunches on the patio beneath the trees will definitely be in our future. read more

I stopped by for late lunch at around 2.30 PM on 4/20/2023 and the service I received made me wonder if all these reviews are 100% real. I patiently waited for my chicken fried rice and when it was ready, the guy put it on the counter without acknowledging me. I asked if this was my order and instead of responding, the guy ripped the receipt from my order and put it to my face without saying a word. I asked if everything was ok. How have I not reviewed Tiger Noodle? I've been coming to the original location since high school. Recently, while back in town visiting my in laws, I decided to sneak away for some takeout. I ordered the Chicken with Ginger and String Beans, the Szechuan dumplings, Egg Roll and Spring Roll. It was everything I was hoping for it to be.
