We went with sushi on our recent visit and were not disappointed. Our sushi came with complimentary miso soup. As previously, your order is placed at the counter, you receive a buzzer, and then patiently wait for your aromatic food to arrive. I'm not sure if the menu has changed substantially or if there is a new chef. On previous visits I've had the Chinese, Korean, and Thai. We found this place by chance as we were driving through Princeton and were craving Jajangmyun. Found Asian Bistro on Yelp and it really is a hidden gem! Asian Bistro doesn't look like much on the outside, but its very clean and has a great and unique way of service. You order food at the counter and they buzz you once you're ready. Iced water and hot water are complimentary and you have the option to get soft drinks and tea. They also provide bottle openers so you can BYOB. We wanted to try a few things being our first time here. The Seafood/Scallion pancake was super crispy and had lots of shrimp and octopus in it! Very delicious! We also got an order Jajangmyun (Black Bean Noodles) and it was one of the better ones I've had in the Central NJ area. The noodles had lots of veggies and some nice chunks of pork belly in it. Last we ordered the Hwe Dup Bap which is a mix of salad, rice and sashimi topped off with spicy gochujang. Again, super delicious and refreshing. It was a nice balance from the heavier noodle dish. We saw lots of people eating in and taking out. There are plenty of seats available indoors and the bathrooms were very clean. Make sure you tip appropriately once you pay! Was my first time back in a year or so and the menu is very different, though same restaurant set up and process to order. The general Tsos chicken bento box was amazing! Great portions and such great flavor and texture of the chicken and various side dishes. The veggie kimbap was yummy and went well with the other parts of the box. Then I saw the photo of Hwe Dup Bap, looks like Korean version of Chirashi (they offered Chirashi). Decided to order a take out. They gave generous portion. It is similar to Japanese Chirashi, twisted with the lettuce addition and use of sesame dressing. I also ordered soft tofu soup. I categorize this restaurant as neighborhood restaurant. It is serving home made style dishes. The one that the family will go to when no one wants to cook for the day, or have a long chat with close friends over meal. Objectively, this isn't the most life-changing Korean food I've ever had. However, since it's hard to find good Korean food in Princeton in general, Asian Bistro is definitely a go-to locally. Delivery Review: All in all, a very disappointing meal. My wife had a hankering for Korean, and cuisine that is sadly underserved in our area. Asian Bistro came up in our search and we decided to roll the dice. We ordered Beef Japchae, Squid Bibimbap, Seaweed Salad and a Spicy Tuna Roll. The japchae was...fine? The beef was extremely sparse and overall the dish lacked flavor. Same went for the bibimbap. Light on the squid, heavy on the veggies, and the egg was clearly precooked and thrown on top well after the fact. At least there was an ample amount of gochujang to give the dish some flavor. The seaweed salad was a quarter of a head of lettuce topped with a small scoop of seaweed. The attempt to make the paltry serving size appear greater failed. Too bad, because the small amount of seaweed present was actually quite good. Saving the worst for last, the spicy tuna roll was bizarre. After being greeted by an utterly flavorless mass in my first bite, I decided to dissect the next portion before eating it. The tuna itself was minced rather than diced, and had no other ingredients added. Just a small quantity of minced low quality tuna doused in what was supposed to be spicy mayo. Neither of us opted to eat any more of the roll, and for either my wife or I to turn down any sushi of any kind under any circumstance is quite the indictment. I ordered through yelp which was very easy and the food was ready when we got there (~15 mins after ordering). We got two-halves, one with chicken basil fried rice and salmon teriyaki and one with bulgogi and kimchi fried rice. They also came with a side (you can choose dumpling or egg roll.) The two halves come with a lot of options to choose from and the portions are a good size, I usually don't finish it in one sitting. One of our quick dinner restaurants. However it depends on the entree, it's a bit pricey for the area among their competitors. Some of the entree options are expensive for $13-15 considering the portions are very small, especially the bento options. The prices are comparable to NYC K-town (which they give you more) in NYC or at a Thai restaurant. Also their advertising for the "lunch specials" are misleading, there is no lunch special. The menu listed the same price as dinner and there aren't any freebies such as spring roll or soup (small appetizers) to accompany the entree. Not a good deal hence 3.5 stars. One time I ordered the dumplings rice cake soup and found hair stuck to the rice cakes, literally in the rice cake. So whoever made the dough left a strand of hair and cooked the rice cake with the hair in it. I was mortified and utterly disgusted. We stopped ordering and going to dinner here. read more

The service is counter - so place your order and find a seat. You will be buzzed once your food is ready and the food was prepared in adequate time. I went with a simple dish, Thai Basil Rice with chicken. It was very good; pleased with this selection. The place is clean and it has equal number of table spots to parking slots. My fear is that if they got too popular then there will be long lines. I've had Korean food maybe twice in my life. I came to Asian Bistro (should be called Korean bistro) through recommendation. They have a decent size of parking lot, the restaurant is at a dead end of a street, right next to a railroad. There was outdoor and indoor seating, we sat on the outside and there was a train coming by every other few mins, it was cool to watch the train come by while eating. I got a spicy chicken bowl in a stone bowl, it came with miso soup. My spicy chicken bowl was not what I expected. It has chicken, a minimal amount of veggie, and a fried egg, on top of rice. I thought it was kind of boring, more vegetable would've been nice. The chicken was also not that spicy. It was also around $13? I thought it's kinda pricy for a bowl like that. Unfortunately this seems to be a place that offers a very wide range of menu options at the expensive of not executing all of them well. The kimchi stew is quite bad. It was bland and watery, the kimchi was too sour, the tofu was very hard, and the pork was too fatty. It came in a plastic bowl. The kimchi in the banchan was also extremely sour and slightly bitter. There was a weird bitter aftertaste in my mouth for the next half hour :( The dishes didn't initially come with banchan; you have to ask to get it since a lot of customers end up wasting it (I actually appreciate that they do this!) They offer promos for checking in on Yelp and foursquare, and this combined with the wifi etc seems to me to be why they have so many positive reviews. The veggie bibimbap in the stone bowl is my favorite meal here. The veggies are always crisp and fresh. I've yet to order many other items because this dish taste too delicious. You can either dine in or take out. They also have self seating options where you order from the counter and wait to be called. There is a fridge full of natural beverages and I typicaly purchase root beer, ginger ale or sparkling water. This is a quaint spot great for an intimate casual outing but you could manage a small group here too. During the evening week day rush hour the traffic can be heavy in the area, and the parking lot is small. I've always had a great experience here.
