We had the Dolphin sandwich on a nice kaiser roll , blackened , nice light heat. We recently stopped here for lunch because they had outside dining. Tables were spaced and lots of fans to move the air. Vanessa was our waitress and was very attentive. I had the Mahi tacos and they were very good with a side of rice with black beans. My husband had the shrimp and scallops arugula salad and he enjoyed it. Good lunch stop. read more

Service is good as always; and has a good, relaxed vibe. Have enjoyed in the past but a recent lunch was average. Their shrimp and scallop salad was exactly that. Greens with a shrimp and a scallop. Was good but not satisfying and overpriced for what it was. More of a side salad. I will give it a few more tries, and I still recommend but hope they get back to previous seasons performance. read more

The place is old Florida been around since the early 80's. The service was very nice. The food however left a lot to be desired. 1. They did not have the mussels 2. All the orders came with the wrong side dishes 3. My daughter ordered the clams and the amount of sand they had was uneatable! 4. Place reminds me of of school restaurants on Long Island. Like Long Beach or Montauk when it was a cute little town. The service was great. We were told 20-30 but it was more like 15 on a busy Friday nite. Great Conch Chowder but horrible Key Lime Pie (thats why the one star) If you are unfamiliar with KLP please don't think this is what you should expect. If you don't mind $25+ for a piece of fish, this is your place. Nothing special here. Cole slaw and french fries off the Sysco truck fill every plate. They do better in the "season" when busy, but you never see an owner and nobody from management ever comes around. They "expect" your business and you should show up to support them it seems. I usually love this place, but had a horrible experience today. The super young hostesses had no clue as to where to seat us, then after we asked for a table outside near the bar, she said "I'm not sure you can seat there". Okkkkk so can you FIND OUT?? We sit, then we wait for service, but never got it. So we went back to the hostess stand to ask why we had no service. She said, "that's optional at that table, so you have to ask for it." Omggg. So two seats opened at the bar so we grabbed them, thinking we'd get quicker service. NOT. The guy behind the bar didn't welcome us or introduce himself, we had to ask for menus, then we received our stone crabs with no cracker or any utensils. We had to ask for those. Then my Caesar salad came with shrimp instead of mahi, sent it back. I told him to please go easy on the dressing, the salad was drowned. The mahi wasn't completely cooked so it was pink inside and I sent it back to be cooked longer. Horrible experience all the way around. Have to say, really disappointed. Knowing how hard the restaurant business is, it's not often I complain let alone leave a bad review. We are locals and know fresh seafood, often order stone crabs or bring them home to prepare. We ordered stone claws at $16 each, which was a fair price, but they were not fresh. Smelled and tasted terrible, obviously outdated. Sad they would pawn this off. Very politely mentioned it to the waitress and watched her roll her eyes and make fun of us to the staff. Spoke to the manager on the way out, again very politely, and he just said "yes, I mentioned it to the chef". Well, I guess they don't need my business. On the bright side, every surrounding restaurant parking lot is packed with waits for a table but you can park/immediately be seated at Schooners. Huh, wonder why. read more

Excellent wait staff, fun, casual atmosphere..... but the food was what will have us coming back!!!!!! It was over the top!!!!!!!!!!! Food was excellent. Juan did a great job taking care of us The only downside was while we were waiting for an inside table we tried to get a drink at outside bar. Bartender wasn't the most pleasant person and wouldn't serve us unless we were actually sitting in chairs. We understand Covid rules but she could have better in communicating the rules instead of how worried that she was going to get a lecture from the bosses. Went to schooners with my 68 year old friend. Sat at the outside bar while waiting on friends to arrive. My friend and I were in a conversation when the bartender/server interjected into our conversation, after several hints and outright "this is none of your business" comments I asked for the manager. The manager came out and went on the attack saying I Made this woman cry which is nothing further from the truth. She asked me to leave. I did without a problem. As I only asked for the manager trying to not have a problem! This manager was a server with no management experience that is what you get in this establishment. No POS system everything is hand written on checks which takes forever to cash out and in which the checks are always questionable. Food is always good management is the worst in town!!! Update: after I was treated terribly and after posting the above review never was I contacted by this establishment. After my friends asked me to meet them there (I haven't been since the incident) I walked to the outside bar they were all happy I showed up and everything was fine until the bar tender (who is very nice) told me I had to leave. My friends said your kidding me she said no I'm not "the Yelp comment" didn't help, that the same manager said I was not allowed back in. I spoke to my friends for another minute then calmly left with a smile. Never once did this establishment care to hear from me nor ask me what happened. There are plenty of other places to go I came back with a open heart and same old unprofessional manager continues to stoke the flames of hatred but I don't blame her I blame the owners! read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. We went here for lunch because the wait at the restaurant nearby was insane. We started out with the cracked conch, it was chewy, greasy and had zero flavor. The dolphin was dry, I sent it back. We also ordered fish dip which said it came with sliced tomatoes and cheese; the cheese was literally kraft cheese slices on top of the tomatoes, and the cheese was room temp. We asked for the manager and she came over and was so argumentative about the quality of the food, basically told us that we were wrong and their food never gets complaints. I would highly recommend not going here, you will be extremely disappointed, - not to mention it is not cheap! read more

Holy crap, those crab fritters -- wooooo! They were like an amazing crab donut -- and I mean that in a good way! The combo of the crab and dough was out of this world! Great fried shrimp too (it's not something I usually order, but some drunk guy at the bar suggested them and he was right!). Tasty peanut butter pie, too. read more

The food choices in this are are plentiful, ufortunately they are not heavily reviewed on Yelp. I really rely on Yelp to catch a good meal without being disappointed. We tried to hit an area favorite, but they had a 45 minute wait for 2 (on a Monday night). Homey don't play that. I never wait more than 15-20 minutes for any dining experience. Especially not for a strip mall restaurant. We were driving around half knowing the reviews for the local seafood spots. We spotted Schooner's and decided to check out the menu as well as the outside seating area. We decided to stay. We were seated at a table in one of the outside areas. Wait time, zero. There were plenty of people eating dinner, but there were tons of tables so it worked out well. The hostess looked like someones grandma. She was not overflowing with spunk or kindness, but she was friendly enough. Our server arrived within a reasonable amount of time. Again, she was OK, but she wasn't trying to win any contests with her personality. The menu has a good number of choices. Even better, there was a lengthy list of specials. We ordered our appetizers and decided to go with two of the specials. The fried calamari despite looking uninteresting, was decent. The steamed clams tasted good. While enjoying the apps our server returned to give us the bad news. One of the specials had run out, my wife had to make a new choice. Despite the time it took the server to come back to take the order, our entrees came out without a long wait. She had a lobster special in some kind of soup like concoction and she loved it. I had the grilled Cobia special and it was tasty. Too full to try dessert. If you decide to eat here, make sure you don't eat inside. I strolled through on my way to the restroom and wow, it feels like a dated house that belongs to your great aunt. It's blah, too quiet a totally different vibe than eating outside. Came with a party of ten, as we didn't want to wait an hour and a half at another place. They walked us up to a small round table with 5 chairs and said "sorry." 15 minutes and 5 waitresses later they put together 3 square tables for us. The wait staff went to go check to see if this was "ok" never to return. Drinks came in plastic cups. The alcoholic drink was good. The bread was pre made from their supplier, girlfriend saw them at Costco. They tasted like processed vegetable oil, no good. Took too long to get our meals, on a not busy night. Fried shrimp and berry slaw taco, adventurous but it was a miss. Seafood casserole tasted processed and not fresh. Very "fishy" flavor you get from old seafood. The best thing was the crabmeat sliders: pretty hard to screw up crab with some old bay! Overall, expensive and not worth a trip. Go to leftovers or the square grouper instead. Desperate for food, we stopped here for lunch. I am glad we decided on Schooner's, because our experience was great. Started off with two appetizers: Jalapeno poppers, which were okay and nothing special, and the Raspberry Chicken wings from the specials menu. The raspberry sauce was good on the wings, and they were cooked nicely. I had the standard fish and chips, but with sweet potato fries and my meal was good. The rest of our group seemed equally satisfied with their selections. The service was good, our drinks were never empty and our food was delivered quickly. I'd go back if I were in the area again. Average dining experience. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and conch bites. The calamari was very under seasoned and the marinara did not pair well. The conch was actually tasty and the jalapeño sauce was good. For my meal, I ordered the blackened dolphin sandwich. This restaurant does not deserve one star! We came here since the Guanabana restaurant next door had a 1.5 hour wait. We should have waited. The service was horrible, the young male waiter was less than pleasant by making faces when we asked to order more appetizers. The appetizers were oily and unappetizing. The holiday Irish Stew was salty, rendered inedible. The kitchen must have been overworked for the holiday? When the $25 fish meal finally arrived the sides were over cooked and mushy. What was meant to be a special family meal, turned out to make out our visitors ill. We were horrified, only to lose $85 total for a terrible yet memorable meal. read more
