    Lobster roll
    Elise M.

I came to Schooner's for my first lobster roll, and it was the perfect choice! It was recommended by a local as being a slightly more affordable but still delicious option for seafood. I loved the slightly dive-y but still clean and cute atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious! The service was fast and friendly too. I think it might have been my favorite restaurant of the whole trip!

Was in town visiting friends and I recall we had went to this place about 8 years ago, but i could't remember what we had back then. It was a little busy but we were able to sit down right away without a reservation. They were short staffed so the wait to order was a little longer than normal hence the busyness. We ordered drinks first which were a couple mimosa's and a bloody mare. The drinks were delicious and plenty of drink (meaning the perfect size). We ordered some cups of clam chowder before our meal and for our entrees we ordered the lobster roll, beef tips, and the haddock au gratin. The clam chowder is one of the best I've ever had, the perfect amount of clam taste and clams in it, right amount of potatoes and spices. The beef tips were cooked perfect med rare, the fries were cooked nice and crisp, and the veggies had just enough crunch to it. The haddock was so delicious, cooked perfectly as well, the au gratin is what sets this off. The crunch with some melted cheese to go along with the fish that was tender. The lobster roll had plenty of lobster and the roll was very soft, but could've used some seasoning or a better dressing for it. They were short staffed but they still did a good job with getting us the food in a good amount of time and seeing that we had everything.

Excellent options by the beach. Must get the fried whole clam, shrimp scampi pizza and marinated beef tips. Definitely recommend.

Probably the best Prime Rib I've had in awhile. GIANT slab of meat, maybe an inch and a half thick, super tender, very flavorful, melted in my mouth On the specials menu only $31.99 after 6pm Guess it sells out quick and I can see why. (We sat down at 5:55) The table next to us was asking for it as soon as they sat down. Our waitress Patty was amazing, she hooked it up with a container of their delicious Au jus to take home since we couldn't finish everything at the restaurant.. I took two more bites when I got home because it was that good. 9.79/10 #primerib #hullmassachusetts #schoonerrestaurant

    French Onion Soup.

We were visiting Boston but staying in Hull and decided to try this restaurant. I had a grilled cheese and French Onion soup. It was delicious. My friends had fried shrimp and said it was really good.

Fish and chips were delicious. Good size piece of fish and the fries were nice and crunchy. The coleslaw was nice and fresh.

It's a bit confusing where the hostess is to be seated, years ago it was obvious. Friendly Hostess is lower level at the bar area. We got seated upper deck because it seemed like a mild evening. The views are gorgeous as always. Waitress came over quickly and we got our drinks. Waitress was not overly friendly, but seemed liked she had a really long day of service. Drinks were good, basic captain and coke and a Nantasket cowboy made w coconut whisky, sweet summer drink. We placed our order and it got too chilly so we asked the hostess who was nearby if we could move inside. She was very accommodating and sat us inside which had beautiful views as well. A waiter came over and asked if we had been helped and we told him we were outside but already ordered. Our food comes out shortly, smash burger and fries were very good. Clam chowder was good but different, it was more grainy than smooth with finely chopped clams and bacon w good seasoning. The lobster Rangoons were great, plenty filled w creamy filling and the outside soft yet crispy w a sweet sour dipping sauce. Our waiter never came back during our entire meal to see how we were or to be able for us to ask for water which we wanted. We got the attention of a woman cleaning tables to ask for a check. Our waiter eventually came back to ask how we were doing. Well, we ate our meal and asked someone else for the check and never got water...the service is lacking a bit, and they seemed somewhat frazzled running around. It was definitely a busy night, food is great but needs some work on the service. Casual beachy vibe, place is sadly on the run down side, inside chairs not too comfortable but go back because I love the views and the food we had was good.

The space is big, so they were able to seat us right away with a good view too. Service overall was friendly. We ordered a lobster roll and some seafood. The portion sizes, especially the sides, were very generous. The fries were better than I expected (nice and crispy, not dry). The seafood tasted fresh. My favorite was the salt-pepper shrimp appetizer. I might not get the lobster roll again, because the meat was quite tough. Other than that, it was an excellent last stop of our trip :)

Knowing me I had to call to make sure that the seafood was wild caught and it was not farm raised. The hostess told me everything was fresh minus the salmon that was only farm raised. The wait was not that bad at all - they said a hour in a half but it was definitely shorter then that since a lot of other individuals have left because of the long wait. We probably only waited for about 20 - 30 min. Everything was delicious here from the raw seafood , calmaria and for my dinner entree I got the Schrood which was the wild caught cod , with mashed potatoes and coleslaw it was very very delicious. We also saw a celebrity at the restaurant as well which was very cool. Everyone was very nice there including the staff. I highly recommend going there.

Having been, now, a few times, I think the reviews are a bit understated. it is fresh, fast, kind. The drawback is that they do not have a huge selection, but I suspect that is because what they have is fresh. It also does not appear overpriced. I will go back.

On Christmas Eve, (La Vigilia), many Italian families celebrate the "Feast of the Seven Fishes"…read more The custom is to serve seven different seafood dishes, each one representing one of the seven sacraments. At least that's the version of the story we've always gone by. The usual menu (since I was a tiny tot) has always included: pasta with lobster, baked stuffed shrimp, bacala (salt cod) salad, another bacala dish; this one with a marinara sauce, pan-fried smelts, clams one way or another; often casino-style, calamari, and then whatever else suits us that year to total at least seven dishes. While I didn't appreciate aspects of this meal when I was a kid (read: any bacala dish), it's now probably my favorite holiday feast bar none with any and all bacala included. While I usually get my fish at Rockyneck no matter what time of year, the day or two leading up to Christmas Eve is when we've got to buckle down. The crowd is coming. Rockyneck doesn't steer us wrong. It's actually inside the Hingham Fruit Center, a store I love and which I've reviewed separately. It consists of one large seafood counter within the larger grocery store and is its own business. I'm generally impressed with the freshness, quality and taste of the seafood they carry. The look of the fish is always pristine and I never hesitate over any of their offerings. The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful and will do their best to get you the very best of what you need when you need it. Christmas Eve notwithstanding, this place is a conveniently located little gem.
