1st time visitor. Meal was served piping hot. Salmon gets 5 stars & the scalloped potatoes too. The green beens lacked flavor, but well prepared. Love the Satuit Tavern.. always busy because they serve great food. It initially was a pizza house and as many times we have dined here I never tried it till this time and it was so crazy good! Had a wonderfully fresh garden salad that was just perfect with the pizza. He got the AMAZING broiled seafood platter.. cooked to perfection.. no loads of butter and bread crumbs like many other places. By far one of the best things on their menu. Seafood heaven!! I was not expecting to be so impressed, but here we are! My husband and I were craving seafood so we came here for dinner. We started with a bowl of clam chowder and it was clam-chowder-perfection! The consistency is not too thin but also not too thick, perfect for chowder! For my entree, I ordered the baked stuffed scallops and omg!! They are now my favorite scallops I've ever had. They had a special flavor that was very addicting and I couldn't stop eating them even after I was full. Even my sides - scalloped potatoes & brussel sprouts - were so good, I could have eaten them as a meal alone! For dessert, we shared the homemade bread pudding and I can't think of an accurate enough word to describe how delicious it was! I'm already looking forward to coming back here :) read more

I love the Satuit Tavern! I grew up on Town Spa Pizza. To me it is the gold standard of South Shore Pub Pizza. You dont have to agree, you are just wrong. I used to drive from Scituate to Stoughton for Town Spa. Then I tried Satuit Tavern cheese pizza. It saves me the 90 minutes round trip for a cheese pizza. Town Spa does have more flavors, so bacon, pineapple and linguica all still get me to Stoughton. The waitsatff is great, a pleasure to get to know when I dine in. They have clam strips, so there is not reason to go to Mill Wharf, which doesnt. I still havent found a stuffed clam (quahog) like you find around the Cape Cod Canal and over the bridges. Yet if I am going to order them in Scituate here is where it is done. They are my takout restaurant. The portions are generous. I have never been disappointed in anything I have eaten here. Although, if I could enhance one offering, the Prime Rib could benefit from an aged salting that permeates the meat. Once you enjoy the crust and the fat, the beef has a challenge standing on its own. This is not an uncommon offering for Prime Rib at many restaurants. It just note, an area of enhancement just waiting to happen. Keep up the good work read more

I have been going to this Tavern for years, mostly takeout and it has really started to go downhill. The fish always fresh, but last two times, fish very dry and the presentation was bad, the food was just tossed in a box, vegetable over cooked, watery and the toping on the schrod had no flavor, fish dry. Two bad experiences - I would not recommend. But the staff is always very pleasant. read more

With the amount of people there, I thought this place would be good. The calamari was rubbery, the breading was falling off, we were going to get the fried seafood platter and decided against it as we didn't care for the breading, so we chose the broiled seafood platter - the scallops and the stuffed sole were ok and the scrod had no flavor. We also ordered the shrimp scampi - there was no sauce on the pasta (it said it came with a white wine garlic sauce) and the combo of snow peas, mushrooms and tomatoes was odd. Service was fantastic, food was very generous and delicious. And it wasn't loud. We had the cup of chowder, which was really served in a small bowl; I had whole belly clams which were fried and perfectly cooked. There are enough there to fill a bucket! The fries were good, but I had no room to eat them, and the onion rings were good. My husband had the fried fish sandwich and we also had the stuff to go hogs, which were mostly breadcrumbs, but it was still tasty. We are from Cape Cod and love to visit Satuit Tavern when visiting Scituate. The hot Lobster Roll is the best I've had. It is loaded with Maine Lobster and served in a perfectly grilled roll. It's a special place to visit if your are in or near Scituate MA. read more

This is a local gem. Born out of the destruction of the Blue Mooring in the 90's?!! There is so much to choose from here. A quick beer at the bar with some (GREAT) New England clam chowder, pizza, calzone, burger whatever! You can also sit in the dining area and feast on some broiled or fried seafood, great wings or surf and turf! My favorites here are the Tavern Fried Shrimp or the Chicken Parm calzone. Hostess scowled at me when she saw my mother was in a wheelchair & told me to call her to have it stored elsewhere. Chowders were loaded with clams, but tepid. The potato in the chowders must have been microwaved, because they were like mashed potato dumplings. The onion rings & French fries were room temp. The broiled scrod & veggie casserole were tepid. So disappointing. The dining room is nice & clean. I won't be coming back. My mother's fried clams were warm, but rubbery & most of her plate was cold French fries. read more

This place is great. They sat people with the social distancing situation and they also swapped out items for a low carb option. Keno was still available to play and not sitting in the next booth to someone was great. No rush on our meals and accommodating our low carb lifestyle was not a problem for them. Food is just okay and they are desperately in need of a makeover. They also have a crazy amount of single use plastic in their dining room. Example: a fried seafood platter will come with three sauces all in small, plastic containers. I'm not sure why they can't use small bowls and throw them in the dishwasher along with dinner plates. Sent them this feedback a few years ago. They never responded and because of that I've never gone back. There are far better places to go for seafood. read more

Let me preface this review with, usually I love Satuit Tavern. Their lobster rolls with fries are spot on. Tonight I brought my neighbor raving about my other favorite, the Tavern 1/2 and 1/2. It was a big disappointment and I did have a conversation with out server before we left. The fried clams I almost thought were just clam strips. They were the smallest fried clams I've ever seen, I love smaller fried clams, but with these it was hard to even find any bellies. Our server, who was very nice, let me know she complained a few weeks ago about the size, too. They shouldn't have even served these, they were so small. There is a bit of a language barrier within the kitchen, but seriously, I even asked her to show the cook what he sent out to me. Thank goodness the scallops were sweet and delicious! Had a great takeout meal from the Satuit Tavern. The fried fish meals were all great and also had the broiled Scrod which was not bad. Would have given them 5 stars but the order was placed wrong as I had ordered the broiled fisherman's platter but got the scrod. Will definitely go here again though but I will be more clear with the order and have them repeat it back. read more

Incredible fried foodniks - loved the fish fry, onion rings, and the skin-on seasoned spuds. They're also slinging a wonderful veggie casserole side with a toasted buttery crumb topping. If I had joined in on my table's foresight to snag one of these dockside classics, this would be an easy five-star banger. Buuuut... I got the lobster roll, and it was too mayo caked with a heavy hand in chopped celery. Don't let this minor misstep steer you from an incredible dining experience - the front of house treat you like family, glasses never run dry and the hey, they had a really killer spicy corn chowder for the land lubber in your crew. Quality food - but - most of their seafood dinners are cooked in a heavy dose of butter. Not sure why they do this as it makes a fresh, good dinner portion taste like a fast food restaurant. We came here on the recommendation of a friend as well as the high Yelp reviews. We were in the general area and were looking for some good eats. The tavern is smallish and packed. The place has a vibe of being a local place where neighbors and friends come to eat. We had about a 15 minute wait, and got a couple of cocktails from the bar to start. We noticed that there was Keno (we've noticed this game in a bunch of places we have recently visited). We started out with a couple of cups of clam chowder. They were more like small bowls! The chowder was really think and creamy. I had the captain's seafood platter (fried) while my partner got the broiled seafood platter. Man, the portions were huge! Shrimp were huge, and the fish filets were equally ginormous. The platter came with lots of clams, fries and onion rings. I only ate a few pieces and took the rest (about 85%) home. Overall, Satuite Tavern is pretty good. However, Scituate is pretty far from where we live, and so would not make a special trip to have dinner here read more

There are not a lot of good local restaurants in Scituate. The Satuit has the best qualities of being close by, inexpensive, unassuming, homey, and pretty yummy. I always go for pizza (which is even better than Jamies' pizza was); my son loves the clam chowder. The Satuit is not a "quiet place" but it is an easy, relaxing, good meal. read more
