Had appetizers. Ceviche was great and the steamed clams were nice. Good service great view. I'll be back.

Great place to eat at. Food is good and the people who work there are great. I come with my dog and there is no problem.

Back again and not disappointed at all. This visit I got an order of calamari and chips. It was excellent and received my order in 10 minutes even though they were very busy. The fries were extra crisp on the outside and soft inside. The calamari were delicious and very filling, I could of at half and been happy. read more

Very rude! Instead my Co-worker and I took our business to Hidden kitchen. Way better food and very respectful and friendly workers.

Great spot to grab lunch with a view! The second floor balcony offers a few window seats that have awesome panoramic view of the beach! A few beers and a cowboys burger made for a delicious meal! We will definitely be returning soon! read more

First, the view is wonderful, the patio seating was very nice in the early evening and the service was pretty good. The MaiTai was also tasty and generous sized. However, the food left a lot to be desired. We had a sampling of dishes and except for the calamari, everything was so bland! Clam chowder had an odd texture like white gravy that goes over biscuits. The ceviche lacked salt or acid and did not have much fish. I would skip this starter if I were you. I ordered the Cayucos Salad with grilled Salmon and was very disappointed. It was an unseasoned overcooked piece of salmon with rubbery skin atop a bowl of mixed greens. The dressing was not good and again, very bland. It was not worth the $24 price tag. The one shining spot of the meal was the calamari. A generous portion served with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. This dish was very good. read more

Schooners is another hometown-must have of my boyfriends and they really knocked this one out of the park. We ordered the Alaskan Cod fish and chips to share before squeezing into a wetsuit and jumping off the pier. Ok back to the food though. I give the fries a 10 out of 10 and and the fish was perfectly moist and crispy all in one bite. Loved it. read more

Very disappointed with the service. We had a party of 12 and had limited service for the 3 hours we were there. We waited about 1.5 hours for our food to come. The food and drinks were not good. It was not worth the wait. We will not be returning. read more

Terrible service. Everything is covered in dust and bird crap. The food taste old and dry. Management must've changed because this place has went down hill. A waste of $100 Chairs were covered in dust, months old. Umbrellas were covered in bird crap. Gnats surrounding the bottom floor. Employees dress scandalous and texting on their phones. Never even came back to refill our drinks once. The waiter got annoyed when we asked for one thing. I felt more bad for the table next to us, the table hasn't been cleaned in months Never again. read more

Good place to eat although we weren't able to get a table with an ocean view due to a 30 minute wait, which isn't too bad, but we couldn't wait to eat. They didn't have anyone staffing the host desk so if you're waiting there for several minutes and haven't been helped, don't hesitate to step inside so that they can see you're waiting to be seated. Once seated inside, we were waited on immediately. We ordered the calamari stripes, shrimp and fries, and the tuna melt and fries. The calamari stripes were okay and they provide a heaping portion of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce on the side, so if you don't like cocktail or tarter sauce, ask for it on the side or you'll have a handful of stripes covered in sauce. For the shrimp and chips, it was five large shrimp and fries, so if you have an appetite, this isn't the dish for you. The tuna melt and fries were my favorite, the just right toasting on the bread and great flavor. We didn't wait to long for our food and the staff were super busy running food and drinks constantly up and down the staircase inside the restaurant. Despite the busyness of the restaurant, staff were very attentive. read more

I used to see this place all the time as a kid. My wife and I visit Morro bay often, and decided to stop here for lunch. I was actually shocked at how good the food was, and the view was even better from upstairs. I'd highly recommend if you're in the area read more

DO NOT BELIEVE THE 3.5 star rating!!! My fiancé and I were staying in Cayucos this weekend and couldn't decide on a chowder spot from the small selection between Cayucos and Morro Bay. What sold us is Patrick F.'s Yelp responses so brutally honest and you could tell he really wants to provide the best service possible and still put his employees first. So we went and were not disappointed!! We were seated immediately downstairs with our own fire pit, our server "Elvis" was right there to help us. And the food!! The Legendary calamari lived up to its name: thick cut slice of FRESH squid steak. Don't come here without trying it! The chowder was top-notch and the Alaskan cod and chips was perfect the absolute freshness of all the food was matched by the excellent service and atmosphere. We'll be back read more

We were starving and a little tipsy on St Patrick's Day and stopped in for a meal. The service was quick and detailed. The weird little booths were quaint. I would visit again but my man prolly would not. He could have cooked it just as well. Oh and we ordered the mushrooms as an appetizer. Unremarkable. They need a better recipe read more

Very disappointed. Service was scant, food was not great. clam chowder was good. Will not return.

Overall a great restaurant if you're at the coast. Kid friendly and excellent service! People there were friendly and orders came out pretty fast. Not to mention, eating on the upper deck has an amazing view of cayucos beach. Food was very good especially the seafood! read more

Staying at a nearby VRBO we walked to dinner and enjoyed sitting outside protected from wind and warmed with heaters and watched the end of the sunset sky. Since it's crab season we had to try the crab cakes which were some of the best we'd had - ever. We both had the crusted horseradish ahi on wasabi mashed potatoes which was delicious perfection. The ahi fresh and delightful and being a HUGE mashed potato fan I really enjoyed the epic flavor of the wasabi with them. Just go there. Great food! read more

Brought my daughter and grandkids who are visiting from out of the country to a restaurant that had always been good, courteous and fun. Not one of these qualities were displayed at our visit. I was reprimanded for not allowing a host to seat us( no one was there and the sign was hidden from view), then we were told that we could not sit in a certain area because they would not allow one extra chair to be placed... ok, move on. Next it was an attitude of not placing our drinks quick enough and when I requested a clean spoon( and it truly was unwashed ) it took the waiter 5 minutes to return with a clean one in which time my chowder turned cold. Food was good though. It was reassuring to see we were not the only ones treated unkindly, the table next to us received the attitude that the restaurant was not interested in their patronage. Hope it was just one of those days when things are just wonky read more

I've been coming here for 20 years candy the last visit was very disappointing. We sat inside, the table didn't have any napkins, silt and pepper , sugar, or utensils. I had toto ask for those items twice. My wife ordered a salmon salad. The salmon was very overcooked, and the dressing was tasteless. I got clams, fish and chips and a a cup of clam chowder. The side of clams was fair but some of the clams were cold. The soup was good. The fish and chips was okay. My wife had never been so disappointed in her meal that she had to send it back, today was the first time in the 25 years I have known her to do that. read more

Didn't get to experience anything. Called for a take out order to be told that "Surf and Turf" item on their website menu is a "special" and they don't prepare those to go. Cayucos sucks. UPDATE Sure does suck! At least I won't waste my money there! First and last trip there. Maybe I'll get some folks that feel the same way pal! Idiot. This world can can deal deal with a little less douchebags like yourself. Go pound sand prick. read more

Great little seaside patio with sweet views and excellent food and service!!! The pan-seared halibut was fresh and delicious. The bread bowl with clam chowder was yummy. But the BBQ oysters were AMAZING!!! Patio heaters kept us warm in the off-season weather, and the waiters were knowledgeable and very attentive. And the pier walk at the end of our meal was awesome! Definitely want to visit again on our way back through! read more

People want to believe it's a charming beach bar. And in theory it could be, the location the funky set up, the view are all great, but the service is non existent and I'm talking about over the course of several years and several visits. The hostesses are lost, the wait staff are even worse, and it's not like standard slower beach service, it's like sometimes you have to ask several staff ppl who are standing around or simply skipping your table to get your initial drinks ordered, they routinely fail to bring all of the food ordered and several times the order has been wrong. It could be such an awesome place if they could just get the service end of it figured out. read more

This place is a great watering hole. This place is a great watering hole. Avoid this place as a restaurant. Went last night, clam chowder was definitely below par with Campbells. The Ahi spring rolls were so poorly done that I didn't finish 2/3's. read more

We just got asked to leave the restaurant after getting oysters/food/drinks, and within 10 minutes of being there, without getting ANY PROPER REASON behind why we were asked to leave.... when I asked why this is happening, words of "I don't want to make a scene" were used, what scene was made?? A valid question asked in a calm way was left poorly unattended; poor choice of words coming from a Manager... WORST SERVICE I HAVE RECEIVED IN MY LIFE OF A LOCAL. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. Horrible service. Waited 20 minutes and not one waiter came to the table. 3 waiters for 4 tables and not one acknowledged us. Finally got up and walked out. read more

I work in the service industry as well so I am NOT one to leave bad reviews and honestly I'll eat just about anything. My boyfriend and his dad and I went there for his birthday dinner and let's just say we will never go back. Drinks were ok but definitely not right. I had a Paloma and margarita and the mix just wasn't right. You could tell. Anyways, my boyfriend ordered the seafood pasta, looked like shit lol but didn't taste bad. Boyfriend's father orders catch of the day and it was awful. The rice was crunchy and completely uncooked. I ordered the petite surf and turf. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was so well done I literally couldn't cut it with my knife. I took a bite and laughed out loud. Never had an other bite. My lobster tail tasted fishy so one bite of that too and I was done. All in all will never go back. Super bummed. Cayucos locals read more

On a little getaway to charming Cayucos, had a delicious dinner at Schooners. My pup was with me, so sat outside, but since my last visit, some lovely tables with fire pits and comfy seats have been added, making for a great outdoor dining experience on a cool winter night. Perfect temperature, great ambience. The seared halibut with lemon and capers, served over mashed potatoes with perfectly prepared fresh vegetables, was excellent, with a nice local Pinot Noir to round out the meal. And the service was great - Betsy, the waitperson, was excellent, knowledgeable, and made very helpful recommendations. 5/5 for Schooners. I will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely meal! read more

Pros: Speedy seating and service on a Sunday afternoon! We had our pup with us, sat outside, and felt comfortable in doing so! Waiter was assertive, took our order off memory and didn't miss an empty glass or refill. Chicken salad and halibut tacos were satisfying! Cons: Bathroom was 'aight. Felt a little cramped at times right by the downstairs outdoor seating area (waiter walkway).. read more

Got a nice outside ocean view table right at lunchtime on a Friday. The service was friendly, food was good and bloody Mary's were a nice addition to lunch. I enjoyed my BLT with fries and my spouse said the ahi tacos were pretty good! All in all a perfect spot to stop for lunch! read more

Sits on the beach in Cayucos. Casual, friendly, with really nice food. I love Cayucos!

Always a must stop when going to the beach. I look forward to sitting on the patio and getting my Schooner tacos.

I've been to this place several times in the past 10 years. Last Saturday's experience was the worst I've had at any restaurant. The steak was like shoe leather (way overcooked), mashed potatoes were cold, the brocolli tepid, they were out of a lot of stuff that we would have ordered... It was one thing after another. The waiter was very gracious, but the manager of this place needs to know that it has really gone downhill. Even the outside of the place is in need of a major facelift and some maintenance. We will not go back. read more

This place is great but there is a little bit of a wait due to how popular it is (understandable) The lobster Mac is incredible and definitely worth the trip. Ambiance was fantastic. Food was delish. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was less than friendly. He never got us napkins or silverware for our food or never checked to see how we were doing.
