Schodack Family Diner

Excellent and fast. Even with no reservation we were seated quickly and a knowledgeable waitress helped us make fast choices on menu. The food was heavy, not salty, diner fare. They made burgers, omelette, egg sandwiches and very good meat loaf! Coffee was good and hot. Prices were cheap. Plates large (no need for apps along with a main course). The Schodack Diner also has some really nifty street views - so one can chat and pass the time with no efforts, as you watch the goings on driving past. Review: 4 star food

Bacon breakfast burrito

This was our first time coming to this diner. We were tended to right away on a busy Saturday. Very nice waitress, who got our orders in and out within a timely fashion. The bacon was delicious and I have a strong suspicion the butter was homemade, cannot confirm. Good coffee!

Pancake deluxe with home fries

I had rather low expectations as I walked into Schodack Diner and this place met those expectations. I love diner food, but only when it's done right and this was not done right. I ordered the pancake deluxe which came with two eggs and sausage. I also ordered a side of home fries. To start, the pancakes were a generic boxed kind that were dry and had virtually no flavor. I drenched them with syrup, but the syrup was straight out of the package. Why can't places give you fresh maple syrup? I would happily pay extra. Next, the eggs which I ordered over easy, tasted extremely weird. I honestly don't know if they fresh because they tasted a bit sour. Furthermore, the home fries weren't awful, but they were undercooked and needed more seasoning. In contrast, the sausage was by far the best thing here. The sausage links had great flavor and were juicy. When it's all said and done, Schodack Diner is a massive waste of potential and a subpar diner .

Seafood Kebob

These people care and also do the food right. The portions and prices are very good. I've eaten there twice and always leave absolutely stuffed. The seafood Kebob meal was fantastic. I've paid double right down the street for 1/2 the portion and this tasted better. Last visit, I had the shrimp on pasta, and although passable, this Kebob meal was leagues better. 3 for last visit, 4 for this visit, which makes it 3.5 but I rounded up because service flavor and portion was so good this time.

The Greek House - Tzatziki

Heads up that they are CASH ONLY. I ordered the Chicken Shishkabob Plate, which came with chicken skewers, lemon potatoes, Pita, and tzatziki. Everything on the plate was delicious, and the chicken was nice and juicy. It also came with a Greek salad, which is one of my all-time favorites. Most places make it the American way with lettuce, but after visiting Greece, I realized it doesn't have any lettuce. It's cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion, olive, and Feta. In the summer, it's especially good because it's light and refreshing. My boyfriend ordered the lamb Gyro, and it was cooked perfectly. Such a delicious meal! We also had a great conversation with one of the staff members, who was so welcoming and appreciative of our business. I highly recommend The Greek House!

Even though I am Greek that has nothing to do with this review. It was lunchtime there were only 2 tables occupied. Not a good sign. I had the Moussaka and it was tasteless and past it's time as far as being tresh. I truly hope new ownership has taken over due to the positive reviews. I sincerely hope so. I don't like writing negative reviews but it was disappointing. With the location and the need for authentic Greek food in the area the potential Is endless. Sorry for the negative review. This was 3 years and maybe more. I live in Albany and with the positive reviews l could be there in a heartbeat. I apologise for the restaurant review but honesty is a must. Best of luck to the restaurant.

Mmmm delicious. The cigar rolls were so good we ordered another one. It comes with five rolls and a side of tahini. Crispy and fluffy with feta. The falafel comes halved and was crispy and delicious. Everyone pretty much tried everyone's dish because you just had to. I got the chicken shish. It came with a generous amount of char grilled juicy chicken chunks on a flat pita with a generous portion of yellow rice and a side salad. Dinner mate got the braised lamb shank and the other got the braised short ribs. They both came with generous sides. The asparagus was nice and tender. The short ribs just melted in my mouth. The chicken kavourma came fancy and just bursted with flavor with lots of chicken and vegetables. I didn't get to try the lamb because it got gobbled down so fast. The strawberry mimosa was delicious too. A must try in that row of restaurants on Madison. We got the best spot in the house, the window seat, where we saw people walking their dogs and lots of friendly people waving with their dogs and cars with dogs and cool cars driving by. Very entertaining for a seven year old. Baklava with ice cream for dessert. Amazing! They do not have a kids menu so if you have a picky eater, plan ahead! We did make a reservation for a party of five.

Even with our high expectations, Phos definitely didn't disappoint. The space is beautiful and the staff were so kind and attentive (a few of them came over from Gaskins as well!). We kicked things off with a round of cocktails and appetizers, and the Voyager was one of our favorites from the drink menu. I also tried the Elysium martini, which as promised was super strong, but it was probably the only thing I tried during my entire visit that I wouldn't order again. I would have liked a little more of the olive brine and lemon verbena flavors to come through, most sips really just tasted like vodka. The meal only got better and better from there, though! We ordered a couple of the Mezze spreads with pita, the beets, and the roasted parsnips to start. Everything was delicious but the parsnips were an absolute home run, everyone at the table was blown away by how flavorful such a simple veggie could be. For entrees, some of the favorites at the table were the Phos Gyro, Sea Scallops, and the Swordfish special. You can really tell everything is farm-to-table, it's all so fresh and flavorful. I'm super excited about this spot, I can't wait to visit again the next time I'm in town!

Ordered the Greek omelette, and I kid you not, it's the first time I've ever had a properly-cooked omelette. I usually don't order them because they're notoriously overcooked and dry, but this one was fluffy and light. The greens, which the server noted were watercress, looked completely unique and locally sourced. Also ordered a Mr. Midnight, their take on an espresso martini, and it was divine. We got the chance to taste their Greek donuts, and while I'm not much of a donut gal, these were worth it. Can't wait to return and try other menu items!
