Dinner at Schmeck's Villa tonight was our first time and it was a pleasant surprise. My wife and I have been looking for a decent restaurant alternative in the Exeter Township area, an area noted for it's limited dining options. Schmeck's pretty much fills the bill! Pros: 1 - The food is really good. I recommend the blackened salmon with sauteed ed onions and capers. Though my serving was just a little dry, it was flavorful and the portion was generous. 2 - Good variation on the menu. Though slanted toward an Italian style, it's not all pasta and red sauce. Plan on a nice selection of seafood, steaks and surf and turf combinations. 3 - The staff were helpful. My wife had some questions and she got prompt and informative answers about menu items. 4 - Unlike many "contemporary" dining options in the area, Schmeck's Villa is quiet and cozy enough to have a conversation across the table, or as we observed among some of the apparent regulars, from table to table. 5 - Real cloth napkins and table cloths! 6 - Very reasonable pricing. 7 - Though we didn't take advantage of the fact, they have a full bar and it appears wine is available by the glass with meals. 8 - Ample parking. Cons: 1 - The interior could use a bit of an update. Everything seems a little aged and worn. Thought not in desperate need of a "Restaurant Rescue", new carpeting and a coat of paint would go a long way. Matching chairs would help, too. It's always the little details that make the difference between good and great! Neither a plus nor a minus, the regulars tend to be a little on the older side. Patronage may be different later in the evening. We plan on returning. There were quite a few things on the menu that we're looking forward to sampling, shrimp fra diavolo among them! More than a 4, just not quite a 5.

I remember coming here as a child with my family many times. It was my Uncle's favorite place and he would come here almost every Sunday and every Wednesday night. It is not easy to find a truly good crab imperial served inland, however I remembered the crab imperial from Schmeck's Villa as a kid. It is THAT good!  I was surprised and incredibly happy to find they still serve this delicious dish.  Amazingly the quality is just as good as I remember and they have another hard to find favorite of mine which is escargot, and it is served correctly.  Everything on the menu that family and friends have ordered is high quality as well. The desserts are incredible!  I especially love the creme brulee. We will be back again and again.  Some of the servers even remember my uncle! It is  not often you can find a place that has stayed in business this long and maintains the same high quality food and service.  I'm grateful to remember and find this restaurant again after so many years. Everything is fresh, the chefs are truly talented and the servers are professional as well as friendly.  The atmosphere is for sure vintage however I appreciate that and it is a clean place.  Sometimes the bar gets busy however if you are waiting on paying your bill (as I have seen mentioned in a few reviews) just go pay at the bar, the bartender always makes time for this and it is easy to do instead of waiting on a server on a busy night.

Outstanding experience. (Hope this review makes up for minor squabbles about Gracie's, which I too…read morelove!) Located a bit out of the way in the Flying Hills golf course, but worth the drive. Sports bar- Eagles vibe w/ a decent draft list. The kegs weren't working (seems to happen at every bar we attend these days) but still enjoyed a Mike & Merrill Philly Hazy IPA. Wings a good size, crisp, you know, the way wings used to be before everyone started charging an arm & a leg & serving broken pigeon wings. Classic "Buffalo" sauce & blue cheese dressing were good. FINALLY tried famous Caramel Burger (which I missed several times at the Hamburger festival). It did not disappoint. Good size, flavorful patty, & what these people do best- the bacon jam & caramelized bacon. The sweetness of the onions sings thru. Order it! Husband ordered seasonal special Frikadellen/Bratwurst Smash Burger. Skipping right to it- the cottage fries. (Gracie's/Louie's if you had this all the time we'd have no beef! LOL) INCREDIBLE! Crisp, thin, tender, amazing. If you follow me you know I am over the frozen fries served at every eatery in this country. Finally, amazingly pleasant, genuinely happy, server- Reese. She was on my side throughout this whole foodie journey, even the beer & burger mishap (initially burger served w/o cheese sauce). She's a keeper! We'll be back & will spread the word! Till then, stay on your toes! Thank you Louie's for a great meal.

Great spot for more formal dining with ample dining space located upstairs (there is an elevator…read morefor those who need it). The menu offers appetizers, soups, pasta, pizzas, salads, entrees, and desserts with at least several options under each heading. The food was tasty and well cooked, and the portions were ample to generous. The service was attentive. The establishment makes it clear that there is a mandatory gratuity for groups of six or larger, split checks are not guaranteed for larger groups, and there is a 3% surcharge for credit card transactions. Be mindful of what you order. It can add up quickly. My companion and I wracked up a $200 bill between our drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. Free parking is available after 5pm in the Cherry Street Parking Lot.

They have a large hearth wood fired oven in the center, and the place has a rustic feel. Cocktail menu has some classy drinks on it. Drinks were made fine and priced reasonably well. The dinner menu has a bit of everything. Cowboy ciao salmon salad was crispy and fresh, large and chock full of mix-ins. The steak and gorgonzola pizza was perfectly cooked and the gorgonzola was phenomenally savory! Definitely was surprised how good this combo was on a pizza. Had peach tart for dessert which was alright but felt a bit lacking after such a strong dinner. Presentation on all food / drink was quite nice. Overall, everything was great. Thanks

Had another great experience w/ a few setbacks. I miss the bread basket. The rolls are fine, but…read morethe former basket of varietals was special. Also, what happened to the Kona coffee rub ?? Was our absolute favorite & husband reported the steak was bland without it. On a positive, love they acquired a pastry chef. My to-go Coconut Cake was divine. The Ice Cream Affogato is brilliant in its simplicity! The Sautéed Mushrooms incredible! How much can you do w/ a mushroom ?? Ask the chef! Also, think they have the best Mac n Cheese (tho I do miss the fresh herb component). Still a favorite, but hoping some of the former glory is restored on my next visit!

Even the complementary bread and butter is high quality--a bit torturous, in fact, since you don't want to spoil your appetite for the what's coming. Go big and get the Delmonico ribeye. Perfection. The oysters with the perfectly vinegary migonette sauce is a great starter, as is the butcher's bacon. Also, pro tip, you can get the salads in half sizes and you wouldn't go wrong with any of them. The caesar is my favorite, but recently had an outstanding wedge as well, with plenty of bleu cheese.
