Was it worth $11.29 for a small smoked turkey breast sandwich and mac & cheese meal? Honestly... no. I originally stopped in thinking this might be more of a coffee shop so I could grab a snack and coffee while pumping gas--kill two birds with one stone. From the outside--and even inside--it's aesthetically appealing and looks like a great spot. But the experience didn't quite match that first impression. The food itself didn't hit the mark in the taste factor--nothing terrible, just not memorable or worth the price in my opinion. That said, I'm open to trying other menu items because maybe I just didn't order the right thing. Customer service was pretty average--nothing to complain about, but nothing that stood out either. Been going here for years on and off, maybe ten visits total. All the Reynolds Road near Kroger location. Been here recently/last year three times, which has a refreshed look compared to the past. They have a variety of options with hot deli style sandwiches as a base, but have soups/salads as well as calzones, pizza, and flatbreads. If you have a sweet tooth, Cinnabon products are available as well as cookies and brownies. Breakfast is also available with breakfast sandwiches, burritos and tacos. The food quality is pretty good and a nice option to standards like McDonald's and Arbys etc. Cost seems higher for what it is, but to be fair in the past year (2025-2026) prices seem to be soaring due to tariffs and other economic issues. Food quality is not bad, but not a stand out either. Soups seem to be one of the better options. Service seems so so for friendliness as well as speed. The environment is OK, again not a standout. New look but has an "Empty Sterile" nervous vibe. Overall, OK especially if you need a break from the standard fast food chains noting the prices for McDonald's and others has skyrocketed and service and over all experience has been on the decline, putting Schlotzskys well positioned for fast food. Managing my bias here as I almost never eat fast food unless there is a need such as short on time or thats all thats available. I've missed Schlotzsky's for years, since they all closed in Columbus. I used to visit the Westerville and Hilliard stores frequently. Since we were going to be in the Toledo area for a day, I was excited to hit the lone Ohio store, in Maumee. It is a nice looking white building by Kroger and there was no line to order. The young lady gave us cups and said our orders would be brought to us. I chose the Turkey Original, with the Chicken Tortilla Soup as a side. Boyf had the Pastrami & Swiss on Rye. There are wrapped brownies and cookies at the registers, as well as Cinnabon selections. While we waited in the dining room, a man who appeared to be owner or manager brought our food. He was very polite. There was a steady stream of customers in and out. The food was wonderful. It's the bread. I told first-timer boyf it's the bread. Fresh round slices of sourdough really make these sandwiches special. I ordered a Brownie & Strawberry Lemonade for the road. I asked the gentleman if he was the owner and he said he is one of the owners. I expressed my pleasure at having Schlotzsky's again. He told me there will be one opening in Cincy. I'm not one to post a negative review unless I feel compelled. I would not normally do this to this locally beloved establishment but the manager Christina said she was. "Just doing [her] job" by not refunding me for my purchase so I am just doing my job in return by letting the public know about this disgusting and hairy situation. Had they refunded me for my hairy experience I would not have shared this publicly but how dishonorable can you be to not make this right for a (now former) loyal customer? Today I ordered food through the drive thru, a sandwich and soup, and a lemonade. When I got home I started eating my soup only to the shock and horror of a very LONG strand of brown/blond hair in my soup. My hair is black and also I had just opened the soup. It was disgusting to look at someone else's hair in my food. GROSS! Appetite LOST, I called and spoke with a manager. He told me that I could return to get my food replaced. I could NOT because I was on my lunch break and also I had lost my appetite. I was not interested in biting into the sandwich and decided to just drink my lemonade. He said he wasn't sure how it happened because they all wear hair nets but for me to come back for a refund because I paid in cash. In good faith I agreed. This evening I return to the restaurant (wasting gas again) and go inside with my receipt to get my refund. This is a new shift and the manager on duty (Christina) said she would only refund me the $5 for the soup because that's where the hair was. Appalled, that she expected that I ate the sandwich (as if I would take a chance that there be more hair) I explained that I didn't drive all the way over here to argue and that hair in food is a problem. Disgusting! On top of it NO ONE was wearing hair nets and just about everyone had long hair. The manager from earlier lied to me. I wanted to vomit. GROSS!!! To make this gross matter worse, she said she was just doing her job and would only refund me for the hairy soup. I took my $5 and promised to do MY job and my fellow consumers know. It was visibly obvious that she did not care. Unfortunately, this used to be one of my hometown favorites, but I will never return to Schlotzsky's after this. Unless you enjoy hairy food, please consider this review when making your decision on whether or not to dine here. I'll start this review by saying how fiercely disappointing it is that more of these don't exist in more areas! In metro Detroit, you're a couple hours away from the closest one. That being said, I'm already looking for excuses to make my way out to one of the areas that has one of these, because I need to try more! Obviously very well known for their sourdough bread, it was definitely not a disappointment. It was of course delicious while it was fresh; light and creamy. But I also enjoyed having leftovers the next day when it wasn't as fresh and was more cold and rubbery, but still tasted great. They absolutely stuff their sandwiches with a ton of meat, which almost makes it difficult to eat with the amount that they stuff in there. But definitely a welcome challenge. The tastes are decent (mostly standard flavors and nothing super unique or anything), but the value you get here is pretty damn good. Especially for things like the calzones (new on their menu) but even for the regular sandwiches. The company I work for recently moved to the area, so we are trying out the local restaurants for catered lunches. This was out first time ordering from schlotzskys and it won't be the last! We went with hot sandwiches, salad and Mac and cheese. The food was excellent, on time, affordable and easy to order online. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. How this below average sandwich place has a 4 star average blows my mind. The bread is gross, the salads are limp, the meat is acceptable, and the prices are above average. I've had much worse, but there's a lot of better choices even nearby. Start with the bread: it's wrong. It is mealy and crumbly and too thick and too dense. It dominates the sandwich in a bad way. It is also oddly sweet. And it has been sitting as a rock in my stomach for the last 3 hours. The meat on the sandwich is fine. Literally, that's it. Another reviewer said it tastes like packaged cold cuts. I would agree. It tastes like the cold cuts I bought when I was poor, but still loved sandwiches. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing great. Fine. The kids meals don't have a lot of choice. Firstly, no sandwiches except grilled cheese. And then, the flat bread pizza was dense and not tasty and way too big. We ordered salads and the lettuce was limp and tasteless and unappealing to look at. The dressing was just fine. Nobody ate more than a couple bites of salad. And the pickles were even disappointing! Limp and surprisingly tasteless. For two adults and two kids ordering no drinks, we paid $45. That's not cheap. It's not expensive, but if I pay that much, I hope to not be disappointed. The service was friendly and patient. No complaints at all. Maybe some people like the weird bread. Maybe some people don't know good cold cuts. Maybe. But I'm stumped to think that most people don't agree with me. If you want great sandwiches, Barry Bagels is nearby. First time eating at this place. Co-worker states they've been coming here for 20 years. The food was tasty. They served my food with a small bowl of soup. I wish I would have known, I would have stated that I didn't want it. It's next door to a Hampton Inn by Hilton, I can see a sign of a Bob's Big Boy. Many different types of business around the restaurant. Once you place your order and pay at the cashier, they give you a number that you place on your table. They come out and bring the food to you. Wow! This place has turned to the worst. We use go here almost everyday day for lunch. Times have changed. The restaurant from the curb needs some good landscaping and some TLC. This was my first experience with a Scholtzsky's and I was pretty satisfied. I was on the road and in the same conundrum that I tend to find myself in every time. I wanted something quick, something somewhat healthy, and not going to cost me an arm and a leg. It's pretty hard to find a place like this. Schlotzsky's pretty much fit that bill. I had a half a sandwich along with half a salad. Filled me up nicely and was low on calories. They have the calories of all their food on the menu boards. Schlotzky's may be 'fast food', but it's of good quality and the service is exceptional. I like being able to go into a place that makes deli-type sandwiches in a short period of time. All of their bread is so light and airy...especially the sour dough. Schlotzsky's is always clean, which is a major plus, and, if you don't feel like standing around waiting for your food, they'll bring it out to your table.
