The customer service at this store is unlike any other. I had the pleasure of being helped by Lexi Harris the other day. My dad and I were wondering around looking for neck gators for a ski trip and Lexi went above and beyond. When I asked if she had more of a particular item she looked it up and then went upstairs to find it, and came back with roughly 10 different options. After this, we had some questions about socks and she walked us over to the department and told us who to contact within the department if we needed any help. All while this is happening, her work phone rang no less than 5 times and she ignored it each time as she was helping my dad and I and answering our questions. I bought two sets of shinguards. One set was completely dried out and actually had the front part of the shinguard separated from the foam back part! Glue completely dried out! The second one had Scheels tape on the box, which means the box was ripped open and they had to tape it shut. That wasn't a big deal but it looked beat up. However, inside was shinguard set 2, which was ALSO drying up and separating. How can someone send these products out like this? The boxes were clearly returned before and they sent them out anyway! My experience at Scheels has been AMAZING. We are going on a trek from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp in a few months. We were acknowledged the minute we walked into The Colony location, found a department manager, Ivory, who has gone out of her way to help us, even giving us status update e-mails every Monday. She has worked with The North Face team members (This was the brand recommended by our tour company) to get us everything we will needed. Management does NOT enforce mask wearing. After seeing 20+ people not wearing a mask, I asked management what the mask policy is. The manager said he "doesn't want to cause a scene by asking people to wear masks." This clearly means that management cares more about the comfort of COVID-deniers than it does the safety of it's staff and other customers. If you care about your health and personal safety, I recommend avoiding Scheel's. read more

Typically I love this place and I have really good experiences. I have the Scheels credit card and I've spent thousands of dollars here. However, I brought my little brother by here today to buy a baseball bat. He hadn't played baseball in a while so he was a little confused on the sizing and had some questions about which bat was recommended nowadays. We found one that we thought would be a good fit for him (it was about $400) and he wanted to try it out before purchasing it (because who wouldn't). Mind you we had full intentions to purchase the bat today or a bat today. We asked one of the workers if he could try that specific bat out in the demo area and without asking any questions he informed us that he could not try out the bat because they were only allowing people who were buying bats today to use the demo area. A young boy had just been in there testing a bat just a few minutes prior and because his parents were with him the entire attitude was different. My 16 year old brother is a hard worker and had plenty of money to buy multiple $400 bats if he really wanted, but this man just assumed that he wouldn't be buying a bat today? Place is overpriced. Make sure you price match if you come here. Dicks online has everything so you can just scan the barcode on the items and price match them for $20-$40 cheaper. Staff is friendly and always asks how you are doing. No veteran discount which is odd because they have a lot of war and vet statues out front. read more

I bought a beautiful pair of western boots there 7 months ago. Put them in my closet & recently realized I would never wear them. They were over 300.00 & I hated the waste of money & no one ever getting to wear them. I called & explained, told them I just wanted store credit, they have tons of stuff so I knew I could get something I would actually use. I expected them to say no after so long, most stores are 30-90 days for returns, but they didn't!! I got a credit of the FULL price I paid in AUGUST! We took my step son there to find swim trunks, too after going to multiple stores with no luck. He's hard to size but they had plenty of options & the ladies working the kid's section talked to him directly & treated him like he was "the shopper" in a kid friendly way that made my day. Well, it's big...I suppose if one is into camping, hunting, ice hockey, basketball, etc. its probably fine. I needed replacement swim goggles as zi train for and participate intriathlons, but all they have is cheap stuff for kids to splash in pools. Dont even think of looking for swim paddles, floats and kick boards. Next up, I was looking for wrist guards and elbow pads for roller bladeing, as running is tough on my knees (service disabled vet), so I roller blade for the cardio. Choices available were suitable for kids up to 8 years old. So, off to the bike section, which was pretty, modern, and wanted to be so vibrant. Could not get a store associate to talk to me about the items I was trying to find. Counter staff was busy chatting with themselves and both floor staff personnel were only interested in chatting with the young ladies, despite my waving after obtaining eye contact and verbal request for assistance. The cashier was super chipper and upbeat, kind of felt bad watching his smile slip as I honestly answered his question of, "did you find everything you were looking for?" (I was only purchasing a sport drink). A manager looking person shuffled away as I was telling the cashier that pretty much no, I didnt find a single thing I was looking for. I had a poor experience with Scheels. I was seeking advice on the latest camo for Texas brush-country hunting. The first associate I spoke with had zero hunting experience in Texas. I think he was from North Dakota. So I asked to speak with a Manager. Turns out that Manager also had zero Texas hunting experience also. He was from Nebraska. What's going on at Scheels? I would like to give accolades to Erin B in the bike department at The Colony Scheels, I feel like she went above and beyond. Her expertise and knowledge that she portrays in the bike department and her customer service skills are fantastic. It was completely out of the norm for me to spend alot of money on a bicycle, but a few moths ago i bought a trek bike and I picked out a very expensive seat because it was BIG and cushy. After riding it I found out that it really was too big. I took my bike back for the free checkup that they offer and she asked if I liked the seat and recommended another one for me and it was $30 cheaper and it definitely was a better fit. She truly wants customers to be happy and satisfied, it's not about making a sell. I highly recommend her if you're in the bike business. The original associates that sold me the bike were very pleasant, they just didn't taylor the seat and bottle holder to my needs. We love everything about Scheels. read more

Staff was helpful and knowledgeable without being overbearing. They were limiting customers to 25% capacity which is still a good amount because the place is, well, huge. There was lots of signage and messages over the speakers asking customers to follow social distancing and take safety measures. Social distancing was practiced by all because there is so much space to spread out. Some people in masks, but not required. Hand sanitizer available. I don't get other reviews sh!tting in them for COVID because they are following requirements for the city and county. If you think they should be doing more, then just don't go. ‍ read more

They have AMAZING customer service. I only had a few minutes to shop and a ton of great brand lures were on sale for half off and I got a new jig rod. The guy who helped me was awesome. He knew a ton about fishing and the rod I wanted didn't have a tag he knew the exact price so I could get it. This is a great place at least for fishing stuff. I HIGHLY recommend it. Awesome store! Incredible merchandise offering. You can spend all day at this store. Impressive merchandise offering; not just Nike, but brands like Free People. Alo Yoga, Keens. I also appreciate the fact that you get assistance from personnel who are educated about the merchandise. Great place. The layout's very cool, and really all you need or want from a sports store. Can see why families would like this place with all the extras that they offer - for example, video games. There's one staff member that helped my wife and I out, who deserves a special mention, and that was Zach. Zach from the mid-West. This guy is most definitely upper management material, so Scheels, you should do whatever it takes to continue to develop his career. I have worked in corporate customer care for nearly 20 years, and this young man's skills were on par with some of the best. Product knowledge, taking a personal interest in his customers needs, and offering his help on anything additional that we may need, post sale - excellent! The downside to my visit, the maskless customers. My opinion, they appear to believe they are "brave", but are truly the weakest sauce this planet has to offer. All of them, the men, women and whole families that I saw walking around the store maskless. They make a mockery of the decent people who are looking out for one another, and just want to shop safely. As a customer, I can leave anytime I want, so Scheels, you should take a much more definitive stand for your employees health, and require masks. You likely won't, so therefore, I'll leave off a star for that reason, and may or may not be back to spend anymore of my money. read more

BRING ON THE COVID-19! Sadly, this was my first and last visit to this store which unfortunately is a very neat sports and outdoor store. However, this store has shown that it is a thoughtless member of our community and is not at all concerned with my health, the health of my friends and elderly family members, and the health of the public in general. I was there this evening and not a single employee was wearing a mask, and only about 1% of customers were wearing masks. The only readily visible signage advising customers to socially distance was the 8x11 piece of paper on the door that said they would only allow 25% capacity. To top that off, I went to pick up my order at customer service and was asked to show my ID. I held it up for the cashier to see and he grabbed it with his i gloves hands where I now have to sanitize it. Ordered a Henry .22 in Oct. 2020 for my young son. The gun store employee assured me delivery before Christmas. They took my money and said they would call when it came in. I finally called them Dec. 23 and they assured me it would not arrive for Christmas. In May of 2021, 8 months after after my order, I placed a call to Henry as Scheels had never contacted me. Henry customer service said that is not what they expect from their distributors. Finally that month, I got a letter from Henry stating they had shipped it out to Schools. I had to call Scheels 10 days later as they never called. I arrived to fill out the paperwork with my son, I live 50 miles from the store. They told me I had been flagged on my paperwork and I would have to return another day. Three days later I had to call them and they informed me they made a mistake on the form. I returned the second time to be flagged again and sent home. My third trip back, they informed me they had no ammo for the gun they just sold me. However at checkout they offered me 2 boxes of .22 ammo for $39. I thought they were comping me with freebies for all the hassle. What a Joke. read more
